    Hello, I chose this way to get linux distro name: ls /etc/*release And now I have to parse it for name: /etc/<name>-release def checkDistro(): p = Popen('ls /etc/*release' , shell = True, stdout = PIPE) distroRelease = p.stdout.read() distroName = re.search( ur"\/etc\/(.*)\-release", distroRelease).group() print distroName But this prints the same string that is in distroRelease.

Because I had a complex form for data entry as part of my content, I need to validate certain events that can occur in my form. In the other hand i have product list ( can be very big one ) and according to the product information i need to find the best matching between the person information and the product ( the product information that i have are water part, nitrogen part and ext. ) I can't use flow chart algorithm or Breadth-first search because the number of the product is dynamically ( read the product list from DB ... )

  • Twitter API with urllib2 in python

    I want to use the Twitter API in Python to lookup user ids from name using the lookup method. I have done similar requests simply using response = urllib2.urlopen('http://search.twitter.com...') but for this one I need authentication. I don't think I can do it through the Google python twitter API because it doesn't have the lookup method. Any ideas how can I can auth with urllib2??

    I'd like to duplicate the find feature (Ctrl-F in Firefox) for my users. In other words, a text box that as the user types, it finds the first occurrence of that text, and if they press "Next", it highlights the next occurrence and moves the page if necessary. I'm thinking the search input would have to be in a div that remained fixed, and as it found what it was looking for, would insert a named anchor just before it and then follow the hyperlink. Do you think this can be done?
