• Why doesn't SQL LIKE work in Microsoft Access?

  I want to my make a search-statement and query things like this select * from table where col like '%vkvk%' But with trial and error I've come to the conclusion that access doesn't work with LIKE or wildcard operators. Does anybody have some other solutions because I ain't so in to access actually, so I really don't know.

  I need a model for finding all of the regular expressions that would match a particular string. Basically, I need an algorithm for doing what I do to generate a regex search string from some pattern. My purpose for this to create a list of potential regular expressions from a selection of text and order that list from least specific (i.e. string of characters with abitrary length) to most specific (i.e. the string itself) to be used in text editor.

• Unique DVD info?

  I was wondering, is there some type of disc ID i can use to search in my database to see if that disc is has been scanned or not? All disc were created by me typically burnt on windows. -edit- I could compare write time and volume label to see if the disc has been scanned but i notice if i put in certain commercial disc that fields are blank or wrong causing many false positives (i once had the time set to the future, i dont know if people want to archive the contents of files on a commercial disc in my app).

Are there any plugins available for this toolkit (it is a version of Eclipse) that are known to help with this type of development? Would you do that and then have apps like "authentication", "questions", and "search"? Or would you really just have a site called mysite with one app called StackOverflow?

  Hi I am trying to make a simple search form that uses a startTime and endTime to specify a time range. The db has a datetime field time that is compared against. So far when i try to use params[:startTime] in the controller I get an array of values which wont work with :conditions = ['time < ?', params[:endTime]] Is there a simple solution to parse the form's datetime to SQL datetime?

• 50 million+ Rows of Data - CSV or MySQL

  Hello, I have a CSV file which is about 1GB big and contains about 50million rows of data, I am wondering is it better to keep it as a CSV file or store it as some form of a database. I don't know a great deal about MySQL to argue for why I should use it or another database framework over just keeping it as a CSV file. I am basically doing a Breadth-First Search with this dataset, so once I get the initial "seed" set the 50million I use this as the first values in my queue. Thanks,

  I have built an application in CakePHP that lists businesses. There are about 2000 entries, and the latitude and longitude coordinates for each business is in the DB. I now am trying to tackle the search function.   I am executing the following SQL statement on an indexed SQL Server 2008 R2 database. SELECT * FROM mydatabase WHERE (CONTAINS(ColumnA,'"The Apple is red"')) The problem is that it returns too many entries. It also returns entries where 'ColumnA' contains only one of the words ('Apple' or 'is' or 'red'...) and not only the entries which contains the exact phrase. According to MSDN this should be the way to search for a phrase. Thanks cpt.oneeye
