  The Compare method in Linq lets you find by an IEqualityComparer, but I can't find a counterpart method that allows you retrieve an item by the same comparer. Is this really the best way to do it?   In our organization, we are still on .net 1.1 environment, using javascript, a few open source applications/widgets. Development is done using Visual Studio 2003, grid view, and iframes. Our application works in Internet Explorer 7 and IE 8 (in compatibilily mode). Can anyone give any basic steps we can take to get our application to work cross browsers? • Should a g_object_new have a matching g_object_unref?

  I'm using libnotify to show desktop notifications in my application; notify_notification_new() returns a NotifyNotification*, which should be passed as the first param to further function calls of the notification library. There is no notify_notification_free() which frees the pointer it returns. I looked up the source of notify_notification_new() and internally it does a g_object_new(), gets a GObject* and returns it as a NotfiyNotification*, so when my application does the clean up, should I call a g_object_unref() on the pointer returned by notify_notification_new()?

• TFS - What security would allow me to 'Add files' in one project and not the other?

  In TFS Source Control Explorer, in some projects the "New Folder" and "Add Files" icons are visibles, and for other projects they are not. I'm a contributor in both, and I can check in solutions in both, and not an admin for either. What could possibly be making the icons go "dim". Is it security? Or some other combination of rules?
