• NullPointerException when installing the Android SDK on Mac OS X

  I'm installing the Android SDK on Mac OS X. Following the instructions on the Android Development site, I've downloaded the SDK and modified my .bash_profile to include the path. The next step is to use the Android SDK and AVD Manager to actually download the platforms. However, when I use the Manager to install the platforms, I get the following error in the Terminal. I've looked around for similar problems in the Eclipse and Android forums and haven't found anything yet. Is something else damaged in the environment and needs to be repaired? • SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and the Report Viewer

  I am having an issue embedding my report into an aspx page. Here's my setup: 1 Server running SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services 1 Workstation running XP and VS 2005 The server is not on a domain. Reporting Services is a default installation. I have one report called TestMe in a folder called TestReports using a shared datasource. If I view the report in Report Manager, it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver url it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver?/TestReports/TestMe it renders fine. If I try to view the report using http ://myserver/reportserver/TestReports/TestMe, it just goes to the folder navigation page of the home directory. My web application is impersonating somebody specific to get around the server not being on a domain. When I call the report from the report viewer using http ://myserver/reportserver as the server and /TestReports/TestMe as the path I get this error: For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method. When I change the server to http ://myserver/reportserver? I get this error when I run the report: Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response. I have been searching for a while and haven't found anything that fixes my issue. Please let me know if there is more information needed. Thanks in advance, Kendra

• Unexpected Blank lines in python output

  I have a bit of code that runs through a dictionary and outputs the values from it in a CSV format. Strangely I'm getting a couple of blank lines where all the output of all of the dictionary entries is blank. I've read the code and can't understand has anything except lines with commas can be output. The blank line should have values in it, so extra \n is not the cause. Can anyone advise why I'd be getting blank lines? Other times I run the missing line appears.   I cannot get a nine patch drawable to work (i.e. it is stretching the nine patch image) when loading from either Drawable.createFromPath or from a number of other methods using an InputStream. Loading the same nine patch works fine when loading from when resources. • How to print PDF on default network printer using GhostScript (gswin32c.exe) shell command

  I'd like to print PDF file(s) on windows' network printer via GhostScript. (I dont want to use Adobe Reader) I've read gswin32c.exe which can do the job. I experimented with many commands and coudn't find the way how to force gs to print PDF on my (windows default) network drive. I don't need point exact network printer- default can be used. But if there is no such option I'm happy to pass printer name as well. (I've tried with param -SDevice="\server_IP\printer_name" but this didnt work as well...) • Django Admin: not seeing any app (permission problem?)

  I have a site with Django running some custom apps. I was not using the Django ORM, just the view and templates but now I need to store some info so I created some models in one app and enabled the Admin. The problem is when I log in the Admin it just says "You don't have permission to edit anything", not even the Auth app shows in the page. I'm using the same user created with syncdb as a superuser. In the same server I have another site that is using the Admin just fine. Using Django 1.1.0 with Apache/2.2.10 mod_python/3.3.1 Python/2.5.2, with psql (PostgreSQL) 8.1.11 all in Gentoo Linux 2.6.23 Any ideas where I can find a solution? Thanks a lot. UPDATE: It works from the development server. I bet this has something to do with some filesystem permission but I just can't find it. • How can I write reusable Javascript?

  I've started to wrap my functions inside of Objects, e.g.: var Search = { carSearch: function(color) { }, peopleSearch: function(name) { }, ... } This helps a lot with readability, but I continue to have issues with reusabilty. To be more specific, the difficulty is in two areas: Receiving parameters. A lot of times I will have a search screen with multiple input fields and a button that calls the javascript search function. I have to either put a bunch of code in the onclick of the button to retrieve and then martial the values from the input fields into the function call, or I have to hardcode the HTML input field names/IDs so that I can subsequently retrieve them with Javascript. The solution I've settled on for this is to pass the field names/IDs into the function, which it then uses to retrieve the values from the input fields. This is simple but really seems improper. Returning values. The effect of most Javascript calls tends to be one in which some visual on the screen changes directly, or as a result of another action performed in the call. Reusability is toast when I put these screen-altering effects at the end of a function. For example, after a search is completed I need to display the results on the screen. How do others handle these issues? Putting my thinking cap on leads me to believe that I need to have an page-specific layer of Javascript between each use in my application and the generic methods I create which are to be used application-wide. Using the previous example, I would have a search button whose onclick calls a myPageSpecificSearchFunction, in which the search field IDs/names are hardcoded, which marshals the parameters and calls the generic search function. The generic function would return data/objects/variables only, and would not directly read from or make any changes to the DOM. The page-specific search function would then receive this data back and alter the DOM appropriately. Am I on the right path or is there a better pattern to handle the reuse of Javascript objects/methods?

  I'm writing a PHP extension similar to V8JS. The goal, like V8JS, is to embed the V8 engine into PHP so I can execute sandboxed JavaScript code in PHP. (The implementation is different.)   Hey there, Java, ANTLR and Netbeans newbie here. I have installed a jdk and netbeans. I started a new project on netbeans 6.8 and i have added the antlr-3.2.jar as a library. I also created a lexer and parser class using AntlrWorks. These classes are named ExprParser.java and ExprLexer.java. I copied them into a directory named path-to-netbeans-project/src/parsers. I have a main file: package javaapplication2; import org.antlr.runtime.*; import parsers.*; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception{ ANTLRInputStream input = new ANTLRInputStream(System.in); ExprLexer lexer = new ExprLexer(input); CommonTokenStream tokens = new CommonTokenStream(lexer); ExprParser parser = new ExprParser(tokens); parser.prog(); } } The application builds fine. The book I'm reading says I should run the program and type in some stuff and then press Ctrl+Z (I'm on windows) to send EOF to the console. Problem is that nothing happens when I press Ctrl+z in the netbeans console. When I run from the command line, ctrl+z works fine. This is probably WAY too much information, but I can't figure it out. Sorry. Probably not a good idea to learn 3 new technologies at once.

• Setting nested object to null when combobox has empty value

  Hello, I have a Class which models a User and another which models his country. Something like this: public class User{ private Country country; //other attributes and getter/setters } public class Country{ private Integer id; private String name; //other attributes and getter/setters } I have a Spring form where I have a combobox so the user can select his country or can select the undefined option to indicate he doen't want to provide this information. So I have something like this: <form:select path="country"> <form:option value="">-Select one-</form:option> <form:options items="${countries}" itemLabel="name" itemValue="id"/> </form:select> In my controller I get the autopopulated object with the user information and I want to have country set to null when the "-Select one-" option has been selected. So I have set a initBinder with a custom editor like this: @InitBinder protected void initBinder(WebDataBinder binder) throws ServletException { binder.registerCustomEditor(Country.class, "country", new CustomCountryEditor()); } and my editor do something like this: public class CustomCountryEditor(){ @Override public String getAsText() { //I return the Id of the country } @Override public void setAsText(String str) { //I search in the database for a country with id = new Integer(str) //and set country to that value //or I set country to null in case str == null } } When I submit the form it works because when I have country set to null when I have selected "-Select one-" option or the instance of the country selected. The problem is that when I load the form I have a method like the following one to load the user information. @ModelAttribute("user") public User getUser(){ //loads user from database } The object I get from getUser() has country set to a specific country (not a null value), but in the combobox is not selected any option. I've debugged the application and the CustomCountryEditor works good when setting and getting the text, thoughgetAsText method is called for every item in the list "countries" not only for the "country" field. Any idea? Is there a better way to set null the country object when I select no country option in the combobox? Thanks

• Failure to register .dll with regsvr32 - only in Release build.

  Hi, I'm having a weird problem when trying to register the .dll i created using regsvr32. During development everything went fine, the debug version registers and works fine. Now i wanted to create a Release version, but that Version does not register anymore. regsvr32 comes up with the following error: The module "mpegsplitter.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified procedure could not be found. Some research brought me to the dependency walker, which does tell me this Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module. It also does show a dependency on "crtdll.dll" that the debug version does not have (The function view shows soem functions that normally should be in ole32.dll), which is colored red'ish. So far so good, i guess its somehow related to what the dependency walker shows there. But where do i go from here? How do i fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, that has been keeping me busy for several hours already. Thanks!

• How do you invoke a python script inside a jar file using python ?

  I'm working on an application that intersperses a bunch of jython and java code. Due to the nature of the program (using wsadmin) we are really restricted to Python 2.1 We currently have a jar containing both java source and .py modules. The code is currently invoked using java, but I'd like to remove this in favor of migrating as much functionality as possible to jython. The problem I have is that I want to either import or execute python modules inside the existing jar file from a calling jython script. I've tried a couple of different ways without success. My directory structure looks like: application.jar |-- com |--example |-- action |-- MyAction.class |-- pre_myAction.py The 1st approach I tried was to do imports from the jar. I added the jar to my sys.path and tried to import the module using both import com.example.action.myAction and import myAction. No success however, even when I put init.py files into the directory at each level. The 2nd approach I tried was to load the resource using the java class. So I wrote the below code: import sys import os import com.example.action.MyAction as MyAction scriptName = str(MyAction.getResource('/com/example/action/myAction.py')) scriptStr = MyAction.getResourceAsStream('/com/example/action/myAction.py') try: print execfile(scriptStr) except: print "failed 1" try: print execfile(scriptName) except: print "failed 2" Both of these failed.   Is there any way to archive a Mercurial repository to a remote directory over SSH? For example, it would be nice if one could do the following: hg archive ssh://[email protected]/path/to/archive However, that does not appear to work. It instead creates a directory called ssh: in the current directory. I made the following quick-and-dirty script that emulates the desired behavior by creating a temporary ZIP archive, copying it over SSH, and unzipping the destination directory. • WPF data validation is overriding theme on the interface

  Hello! Good People I built a WPF application and manage to get the validation working thanks to posts on stackoverflow.The only probblem i'm having is that it's overriding the theme i'm using. example the theme makes the textboxes look like a round rectangle but after setting the binding it look like the default textboxes. here is my code : <Button.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="IsEnabled" Value="false" /> <Style.Triggers> <!-- Require the controls to be valid in order to press OK --> <MultiDataTrigger> <MultiDataTrigger.Conditions> <Condition Binding="{Binding ElementName=txtEmail, Path=(Validation.HasError)}" Value="false" /> </MultiDataTrigger.Conditions> <Setter Property="IsEnabled" Value="true" /> </MultiDataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </Button.Style> code behind is : //Form loaded event code txtEmail.GetBindingExpression(TextBox.TextProperty).UpdateSource(); I've tried to look into the theme file but i was quickly lost.i thought i could use that file like a web css file.Now i've disabled the data binding because of that.Is there any work around for this? thanks for reading this

• Thumbnail Provider not working

  I'm trying to write a Windows Explorer thumbnail handler for our custom file type. I've got this working fine for the preview pane, but am having trouble getting it to work for the thumbnails. Windows doesn't even seem to be trying to call the DllGetClassObject entry point. Before I continue, note that I'm using Windows 7 and unmanaged C++. I've registered the following values in the registry: HKCR\CLSID\<my guid> HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32 (default value being path to my DLL) HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32\ThreadingModel (value = "Apartment") HKCR\.<my ext>\shellex\{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96} (value = my guid) I've also tried using the Win SDK sample, and that doesn't work. And also the sample project in this article (http://www.codemonkeycodes.com/2010/01/11/ithumbnailprovider-re-visited/), and that doesn't work. I'm new to shell programming, so not really sure the best way of debugging this. I've tried attaching the debugger to explorer.exe, but that doesn't seem to work (breakpoints get disabled, and none of my OutputDebugStrings get displayed in the output window). Note that I tried setting the "DesktopProcess" in the registry as described in the WinSDK docs for debugging the shell, but I'm still only seeing one explorer.exe in the task manager - so that "may" be why I can't debug it?? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Dan.

• PHP, jQuery and Ajax Object Orientation

  I'm a fairly experienced programmer getting my head around PHP and Ajax for the first time, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to incorperate object oriented PHP into my ajax webapp. I have an admin page (admin.php) that will load and write information (info.xml) from an XML file depending on the users selection of a form on the admin page. I have decided to use an object (ContentManager.php) to manage the loading and writing of the XML file to disk, i.e : class ContentManager{ var $xml_attribute_1 ... function __construct(){ //load the xml file from disk and save its contents into variables $xml_attribute = simplexml_load_file(/path/to/xml) } function get_xml_contents(){ return xml_attribute; } function write_xml($contents_{ } function print_xml(){ } } I create the ContentManager object in admin.php like so <?php include '../includes/CompetitionManager.php'; $cm = new CompetitionManager() ?> <script> ...all my jquery </script> <html> ... all my form elements </html> So now I want to use AJAX to allow the user to retrieve information from the XML file via the ContentManger app using an interface (ajax_handler.php) like so <?php if(_POST[]=="get_a"){ }else if() } ... ?> I understand how this would work if I wasn't using objects, i.e. the hander php file would do a certain action depending on a variable in the .post request, but with my setup, I can't see how I can get a reference to the ContentManager object I have created in admin.php in the ajax_handler.php file? Maybe my understanding of php object scope is flawed. Anyway, if anyone can make sense of what I'm trying to do, I would appreciate some help!

  I want to track the mouse click events on a set of UI components on a set of pages. If I change 'aysnc' to 'false', then the ajax call succeeds. Also, click events which do not take to a new page succeed. Only the click events taking to new page are being canceled. I do not want to make the call synchronous. Any ideas, what could be the issue? How can I guarantee that the asynchronous call before is finished when the click event takes to a new page?

• Python win32com - Automating Word - How to replace text in a text box?

  I'm trying to automate word to replace text in a word document using Python. (I'm on word 2003 if that matters and Python 2.4) The first part of my replace method below works on everything except text in text boxes. The text just doesn't get selected. I notice when I go into Word manually and hit ctrl-A all of the text gets selected except for the text box. • When does MSBuild set the $(ProjectName) property?

  I'm fairly new to MSBuild, and I've done some customization on a Wpf project file that I'm building both in VS2010 and TFS2010. I've customized the output path as follows: <OutputPath Condition=" '$(TeamBuildOutDir)' == '' ">$(SolutionDir)build\binaries\$(ProjectName)\$(Configuration)\$(Platform)</OutputPath> <OutputPath Condition=" '$(TeamBuildOutDir)' != '' ">$(TeamBuildOutDir)binaries\$(ProjectName)\$(Configuration)\$(Platform)</OutputPath> This allows me to build to a centralized binaries directory when building on the desktop, and allows TFS to find the binaries when CI builds are running. However, it seems that in both cases, the $(ProjectDir) property is evaluating to '' at buildtime, which creates strange results. Doing some debugging, it appears as if $(ProjectName) is set by the time BeforeBuild executes, but that my OutputPath property is evaluating it prior to that point. <ProjectNameUsedTooEarly Condition=" '$(ProjectName)' == '' ">true</ProjectNameUsedTooEarly> The preceeding property is in the same property group as my OutputPath property. In the BeforeBuild target, $(ProjectNameUsedTooEarly) evaluates to true, but $(ProjectName) evaluates to the project name as normal by that point. What can I do to ensure that $(ProjectName) has got a value when I use it? edit: I just used Attrice's MSBuild Sidekick to debug through my build file, and in the very first target available for breakpoint (_CheckForInvalidConfigurationAndPlatform) all the properties seem to be set already. ProjectName is already set correctly, but my OutputPath property has already been set using the blank value of ProjectName.

  I have a class with the following code: Process process = null; try { process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gs -version"); System.out.println(process.toString()); } catch (Exception e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } finally { process.destroy(); } I can run "gs -version" on my command line and get: GPL Ghostscript 8.71 (2010-02-10) Copyright (C) 2010 Artifex Software, Inc. All rights reserved. So I know I have the path at least set somewhere. I can run that class from command line and it works. But when I run it using eclipse I get the following error: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "gs": error=2, No such file or directory at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:459) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:593) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:431) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:328) at clris.batchdownloader.TestJDBC.main(TestJDBC.java:17) Caused by: java.io.IOException: error=2, No such file or directory at java.lang.UNIXProcess.forkAndExec(Native Method) at java.lang.UNIXProcess.(UNIXProcess.java:53) at java.lang.ProcessImpl.start(ProcessImpl.java:91) at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:452) ... 4 more In my program, i can replace "gs" with: "java", "mvn", "svn" and it works. But "gs" does not. It's only in eclipse I have this problem. Any ideas, on what I need to do to resolve this issue?

• Publish Maven artifacts on FTP with Hudson FTP Publisher Plugin

  I'm building a number of artefacts (zip files for different environments: test, dev) using the maven-assembly-plugin using a specialized Maven profile. These artefacts I want to copy/collect on on a FTP server keeping the version (01.07.10.16.Wed-1626) as a folder, so I need to copy from test/build/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ to ftp://my-ftp-server:21/projects/myserver-1.7/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ The layout for the Maven output is this: target/ build/ 01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-dev.zip my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-test.zip For copying the artefacts I'm using FTP Publisher Plugin but it seams I miss something since that even the build is OK and the artefacts are build without problem but the job is finishing without copying the artefacts, and in the console there is no log info about copying the artefacts My FTP publisher config (FTP repository hosts) is: Hostname: my-ftp-server Port: 21 Timeout: 10000 Root Repository Path: projects User Name: my-user Password: my-pass My Hudson job FTP publisher config (Publish artifacts to FTP) is: FTP site: my-ftp-server Files to upload Source: target/build/** Destination: myserver-1.7 1: There is any log to check if there are any FTP copy errors ? 2: There is any problem with the file pattern (source) or with the dest ?

• WCF Custom Delegation/Authentication without Kerberos

  I'm building a simple WCF service, probably exposed via HTTPS, using NTLM security. Since not all users are going to be capable of using the service directly, we're writing a simple web front-end for the service. Users will auth with HTML to the web front-end. What we want is a way to delegate the user of the web site all the way to the WCF service. I understand Kerberos delegation can do this, but that's not available to us. What I want to do is make the web front-end account a specially trusted account, so that if a request hits the WCF service authenticated as "DOMAIN\WebApp", we read a WCF message header containing the real identity, then switch the principal to that and continue as normal. Is there any "simple" way of achieving this? Should I give up entirely on this idea, and instead make users "sign-in" to the WCF app and then do complete custom auth? The WCF extensibility and security options seem so vast, I'd like to get a heads up on which path to start heading down.
