  • How to make a Custom Data Generator for SQL XML DataType.

    - by Keith Sirmons
Howdy, I am using Visual Studio 2010 and am playing around with the Database Projects. I am creating a DataGenerationPlan to insert data into a simple table, in which one of the column datatypes is XML. Out of the box, the generation plan uses the Regular Expression generator and generates something like this : HGcSv9wa7yM44T9x5oFT4pmBkEmv62lJ7OyAmCnL6yqXC2X.......... I am looking at creating a custom data Generator for this data type and have followed this site for the basics: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa833244.aspx This example works if I am creating a string datatype and using it for a nvarchar datatype. What do I need to change to hook this Generator to the XML Datatype? Below are my code files. The string property works for nvarchar. The XElement property does not work for the xml datatype, and the RecordXMLDataGenerator is not listed as an option in the Generator column for the generation plan. CustomDataGenerators: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Tools.DataGenerator; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensibility; using Microsoft.Data.Schema; using Microsoft.Data.Schema.Sql; using System.Xml.Linq; namespace CustomDataGenerators { [DatabaseSchemaProviderCompatibility(typeof(SqlDatabaseSchemaProvider))] public class RecordXMLDataGenerator : Generator { private XElement _RecordData; [Output(Description = "Generates string of XML Data for the Record.", Name = "RecordDataString")] public string RecordDataString { get { return _RecordData.ToString(SaveOptions.None); } } [Output(Description = "Generates XML Data for the Record.", Name = "RecordData")] public XElement RecordData { get { return _RecordData; } } protected override void OnGenerateNextValues() { base.OnGenerateNextValues(); XElement element = new XElement("Root", new XElement("Children1", 1), new XElement("Children6", 6) ); _RecordData = element; } } } XML Extensions File: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <extensions assembly="" version="1" xmlns="urn:Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions Microsoft.Data.Schema.Extensions.xsd"> <extension type="CustomDataGenerators.RecordXMLDataGenerator" assembly="CustomDataGenerators, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxxxxx" enabled="true"/> </extensions> Table.sql: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Record] ( id int IDENTITY (1,1) NOT NULL, recordData xml NULL, userId int NULL, test nvarchar(max) NULL, rowver rowversion NULL, CONSTRAINT pk_RecordID PRIMARY KEY (id) )

  • MongoMapper and migrations

    - by Clint Miller
I'm building a Rails application using MongoDB as the back-end and MongoMapper as the ORM tool. Suppose in version 1, I define the following model: class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_key, String end Later in version 2, I realize that I need a new required key on the model. So, in version 2, SomeModel now looks like this: class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_key, String key :some_new_key, String, :required => true end How do I migrate all my existing data to include some_new_key? Assume that I know how to set a reasonable default value for all the existing documents. Taking this a step further, suppose that in version 3, I realize that I really don't need some_key at all. So, now the model looks like this class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_new_key, String, :required => true end But all the existing records in my database have values set for some_key, and it's just wasting space at this point. How do I reclaim that space? With ActiveRecord, I would have just created migrations to add the initial values of some_new_key (in the version1 - version2 migration) and to delete the values for some_key (in the version2 - version3 migration). What's the appropriate way to do this with MongoDB/MongoMapper? It seems to me that some method of tracking which migrations have been run is still necessary. Does such a thing exist? EDITED: I think people are missing the point of my question. There are times where you want to be able to run a script on a database to change or restructure the data in it. I gave two examples above, one where a new required key was added and one where a key can be removed and space can be reclaimed. How do you manage running these scripts? ActiveRecord migrations give you an easy way to run these scripts and to determine what scripts have already been run and what scripts have not been run. I can obviously write a Mongo script that does any update on the database, but what I'm looking for is a framework like migrations that lets me track which upgrade scripts have already been run.

  • Convert charset name to NSStringEncoding

    - by d11wtq
Given a charset string, such as "utf-8", "iso-8859-1", "us-ascii" etc, is there any built-in way to get the appropriate NSStringEncoding in Cocoa? Right now I'm looking at just building a NSDictionary containing a canonicalized version of the name mapped to the NSStringEncoding, then having a lookup mechanism that canonicalizes the input in the same way. But is there really no way to get NSUTF8StringEncoding given the string "UTF-8", etc?

  • Unable to stretch TableLayout to screen width

    - by Rendrik
    I've tried unsuccessfully for quite a few hours now to simply get a TableLayout to scale to the full screen. I've tried stretchColumns, shrinkColumns, (specifying the column index or using *) you name it. It's almost as if the parent element (TableLayout) is completely ignoring 'android:layout_width="fill_parent"'. I've read through similar questions here, though they haven't solved it for me. The XML below has 3 rows, and the table always shrink wraps to the size of the content. Apparently I'm too new to post pictures(?) Here is the XML rendered into the project i'm working on. http://www.dashiva.com/images/Capture.png What am I missing here, it's quite frustrating! <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:stretchColumns="*"> <TableRow> <TextView android:id="@+id/AmountText" android:text="@string/general_amount" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/CardText" android:text="@string/general_card" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="@string/general_date" android:id="@+id/DateText" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/ErrorText" android:text="@string/general_error" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <TextView android:text="Amount here..." android:id="@+id/AmountNum" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:id="@+id/CardNum" android:text="Num here..." android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="date here..." android:id="@+id/DateDate" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> <TextView android:text="Code here..." android:id="@+id/ErrorCode" android:paddingRight="8dip" android:layout_gravity="center"></TextView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <ImageView android:id="@+id/cc_image" android:src="@drawable/mastercard" android:background="@drawable/row_bg2" android:layout_gravity="center" android:layout_weight="1"></ImageView> <TextView android:id="@+id/ResponseText" android:layout_span="4" android:text="Response text here..." android:textSize="18dip" android:layout_weight="1"></TextView> </TableRow> <ImageView android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:background="@drawable/gradient_bg" android:layout_height="3dip" android:layout_width="fill_parent"></ImageView> </TableLayout>

  • XStream JavaBeanConverter not serializing properties

    - by Steve Foster
Hello All, Attempting to use XStream's JavaBeanConverter and running into an issue. Most likely I'm missng something simple, or not understanding XStream's converter handling well enough. @XStreamAlias("test") public class TestObject { private String foo; public String getFoo() { return foo; } public void setFoo(String foo) { this.foo = foo; } } public void test() throws Exception { XStream x = new XStream(new XppDriver()); x.autodetectAnnotations(true); x.processAnnotations(TestObject.class); x.registerConverter(new JavaBeanConverter(x.getMapper())); TestObject o = new TestObject(); o.setFoo("bar"); String xml = x.toXML(o); System.out.println(xml); /* Expecting... <test> <foo>bar</foo> </test> But instead getting... <test> <foo/> </test> */ } I tried adding a trace on the TestObject.getFoo() method and it appears it is being called by XStream, but the data isn't being written to the output stream. After looking at the source for JavaBeanConverter, it looks like my implementation should work, which leads me to believe I haven't configured something correctly during the XStream setup. Am I just missing something simple? Thanks! Edit Also, if it helps, I'm using the following Maven deps for this... <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.servicemix.bundles</groupId> <artifactId>org.apache.servicemix.bundles.xstream</artifactId> <version>1.3_3</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.servicemix.bundles</groupId> <artifactId>org.apache.servicemix.bundles.xpp3</artifactId> <version>1.1.4c_3</version> </dependency>

  • use bouncy castle libraries to encrypt files using public key from digital certificate

    - by mike
I got the public key from the certificate, keypair is a java.security.KeyPair object String public_key = keypair.getPublic().toString(); I want to send this to the via an http connection to a J2me application. I cannot find any documentation to convert the transmitted string to a Public key that can be used to encrypt Strings. I also want the J2me to verify signed strings from the server. I want to then send the encrypted strings back to the server.

  • How can I reliably check client identity whilst making DCOM calls to a C# .Net 3.5 Server?

    - by pionium
Hi, I have an old Win32 C++ DCOM Server that I am rewriting to use C# .Net 3.5. The client applications sit on remote XP machines and are also written in C++. These clients must remain unchanged, hence I must implement the interfaces on new .Net objects. This has been done, and is working successfully regarding the implementation of the interfaces, and all of the calls are correctly being made from the old clients to the new .Net objects. However, I'm having problems obtaining the identity of the calling user from the DCOM Client. In order to try to identify the user who instigated the DCOM call, I have the following code on the server... [DllImport("ole32.dll")] static extern int CoImpersonateClient(); [DllImport("ole32.dll")] static extern int CoRevertToSelf(); private string CallingUser { get { string sCallingUser = null; if (CoImpersonateClient() == 0) { WindowsPrincipal wp = System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal as WindowsPrincipal; if (wp != null) { WindowsIdentity wi = wp.Identity as WindowsIdentity; if (wi != null && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(wi.Name)) sCallingUser = wi.Name; } if (CoRevertToSelf() != 0) ReportWin32Error("CoRevertToSelf"); } else ReportWin32Error("CoImpersonateClient"); return sCallingUser; } } private static void ReportWin32Error(string sFailingCall) { Win32Exception ex = new Win32Exception(); Logger.Write("Call to " + sFailingCall + " FAILED: " + ex.Message); } When I get the CallingUser property, the value returned the first few times is correct and the correct user name is identified, however, after 3 or 4 different users have successfully made calls (and it varies, so I can't be more specific), further users seem to be identified as users who had made earlier calls. What I have noticed is that the first few users have their DCOM calls handled on their own thread (ie all calls from a particular client are handled by a single unique thread), and then subsequent users are being handled by the same threads as the earlier users, and after the call to CoImpersonateClient(), the CurrentPrincipal matches that of the initial user of that thread. To Illustrate: User Tom makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 1 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Tom) User Dick makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 2 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Dick) User Harry makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 3 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Harry) User Bob makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 3 (CurrentPrincipal incorrectly identifies him as Harry) As you can see in this illustration, calls from clients Harry and Bob are being handled on thread 3, and the server is identifying the calling client as Harry. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Are there any caveats or restrictions on using Impersonations in this way? Is there a better or different way that I can RELIABLY achieve what I am trying to do? All help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Andrew

  • ArrayCollection versus Vector Objects in FLEX

I saw that Vector is type safe and that makes me feel better, but are there disadvantages? public var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); versus public var vec:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>(); Thanks.

  • Which functions in the C standard library commonly encourage bad practice?

    - by Ninefingers
Hello all, This is inspired by this question and the comments on one particular answer in that I learnt that strncpy is not a very safe string handling function in C and that it pads zeros, until it reaches n, something I was unaware of. Specifically, to quote R.. strncpy does not null-terminate, and does null-pad the whole remainder of the destination buffer, which is a huge waste of time. You can work around the former by adding your own null padding, but not the latter. It was never intended for use as a "safe string handling" function, but for working with fixed-size fields in Unix directory tables and database files. snprintf(dest, n, "%s", src) is the only correct "safe strcpy" in standard C, but it's likely to be a lot slower. By the way, truncation in itself can be a major bug and in some cases might lead to privilege elevation or DoS, so throwing "safe" string functions that truncate their output at a problem is not a way to make it "safe" or "secure". Instead, you should ensure that the destination buffer is the right size and simply use strcpy (or better yet, memcpy if you already know the source string length). And from Jonathan Leffler Note that strncat() is even more confusing in its interface than strncpy() - what exactly is that length argument, again? It isn't what you'd expect based on what you supply strncpy() etc - so it is more error prone even than strncpy(). For copying strings around, I'm increasingly of the opinion that there is a strong argument that you only need memmove() because you always know all the sizes ahead of time and make sure there's enough space ahead of time. Use memmove() in preference to any of strcpy(), strcat(), strncpy(), strncat(), memcpy(). So, I'm clearly a little rusty on the C standard library. Therefore, I'd like to pose the question: What C standard library functions are used inappropriately/in ways that may cause/lead to security problems/code defects/inefficiencies? In the interests of objectivity, I have a number of criteria for an answer: Please, if you can, cite design reasons behind the function in question i.e. its intended purpose. Please highlight the misuse to which the code is currently put. Please state why that misuse may lead towards a problem. I know that should be obvious but it prevents soft answers. Please avoid: Debates over naming conventions of functions (except where this unequivocably causes confusion). "I prefer x over y" - preference is ok, we all have them but I'm interested in actual unexpected side effects and how to guard against them. As this is likely to be considered subjective and has no definite answer I'm flagging for community wiki straight away. I am also working as per C99.

  • How to use GWT when downloading Files with a Servlet?

    - by molleman
Hello Guys I am creating a simple project that will allow me to upload and download files using gwt. i am having trouble with the downloading of files that are on my server. For the file upload i used http://code.google.com/p/gwtupload/ and followed the instructions there. My file is stored on the server outside of the website container(on the hard drive), Now when it comes to the downloading of a file, i want a user to press a download button and whatever item is currently selected will download. i dont really know how this will be done i know i need a download servlet public class DownloadAttachmentServlet extends HttpServlet { @Override protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) throws ServletException, IOException { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.doGet(req, resp); } @Override protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) throws ServletException, IOException { String fileName = (String) req.getSession().getAttribute("fileName"); YFUser user = (YFUser) req.getSession().getAttribute(TestServiceImpl.SESSION_USER); if (user == null) throw new ServletException("Invalid Session"); InputStream in = null; OutputStream out = resp.getOutputStream(); FileInputStream fIn = new FileInputStream(fileName); byte[] buffer = new byte[4096]; int length; while ((length = in.read(buffer)) > 0){ out.write(buffer, 0, length); } in.close(); out.flush(); } } for the moment i will just pass a fileName string to retrieve the file for testing now i am lost at what to do on the client side, i have a simple public class DownloadFilePanel extends Composite { public DownloadFilePanel(final YFUser user , final String fileName){ final Element downloadIframe = RootPanel.get("__download").getElement(); VerticalPanel content = new VerticalPanel(); content.add(new Label("Download For this File : " + fileName)); Button button = new Button("Download"); button.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler(){ @Override public void onClick(ClickEvent event) { // i do not know what to do here }); content.add(button); initWidget(content); } } above is a simple widget that will supply a panel that will allow for the download of a file based on a fileName as you can see above, i do not know what to do to be able to download the file is there any one that can point me in the right direction?

  • Many to Many Logic in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Jonathan Stowell
Hi All, I will restrict this to the three tables I am trying to work with Problem, Communications, and ProbComms. The scenario is that a Student may have many Problems concurrently which may affect their studies. Lecturers may have future communications with a student after an initial problem is logged, however as a Student may have multiple Problems the Lecturer may decide that the discussion they had is related to more than one Problem. Here is a screenshot of the LINQ representation of my DB: LINQ Screenshot At the moment in my StudentController I have a StudentFormViewModel Class: // //ViewModel Class public class StudentFormViewModel { IProbCommRepository probCommRepository; // Properties public Student Student { get; private set; } public IEnumerable<ProbComm> ProbComm { get; private set; } // // Dependency Injection enabled constructors public StudentFormViewModel(Student student, IEnumerable<ProbComm> probComm) : this(new ProbCommRepository()) { this.Student = student; this.ProbComm = probComm; } public StudentFormViewModel(IProbCommRepository pRepository) { probCommRepository = pRepository; } } When I go to the Students Detail Page this runs: public ActionResult Details(string id) { StudentFormViewModel viewdata = new StudentFormViewModel(studentRepository.GetStudent(id), probCommRepository.FindAllProblemComms(id)); if (viewdata == null) return View("NotFound"); else return View(viewdata); } The GetStudent works fine and returns an instance of the student to output on the page, below the student I output all problems logged against them, but underneath these problems I want to show the communications related to the Problem. The LINQ I am using for ProbComms is This is located in the Model class ProbCommRepository, and accessed via a IProbCommRepository interface: public IQueryable<ProbComm> FindAllProblemComms(string studentEmail) { return (from p in db.ProbComms where p.Problem.StudentEmail.Equals(studentEmail) orderby p.Problem.ProblemDateTime select p); } However for example if I have this data in the ProbComms table: ProblemID CommunicationID 1 1 1 2 The query returns two rows so I assume I somehow have to groupby Problem or ProblemID but I am not too sure how to do this with the way I have built things as the return type has to be ProbComm for the query as thats what Model class its located in. When it comes to the view the Details.aspx calls two partial views each passing the relevant view data through, StudentDetails works fine page: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<MitigatingCircumstances.Controllers.StudentFormViewModel>" %> <% Html.RenderPartial("StudentDetails", this.ViewData.Model.Student); %> <% Html.RenderPartial("StudentProblems", this.ViewData.Model.ProbComm); %> StudentProblems uses a foreach loop to loop through records in the Model and I am trying another foreach loop to output the communication details: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<IEnumerable<MitigatingCircumstances.Models.ProbComm>>" %> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("DIV.ContainerPanel > DIV.collapsePanelHeader > DIV.ArrowExpand").toggle( function() { $(this).parent().next("div.Content").show("slow"); $(this).attr("class", "ArrowClose"); }, function() { $(this).parent().next("div.Content").hide("slow"); $(this).attr("class", "ArrowExpand"); }); }); </script> <div class="studentProblems"> <% var i = 0; foreach (var item in Model) { %> <div id="ContainerPanel<%= i = i + 1 %>" class="ContainerPanel"> <div id="header<%= i = i + 1 %>" class="collapsePanelHeader"> <div id="dvHeaderText<%= i = i + 1 %>" class="HeaderContent"><%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:dd/MM/yyyy}", item.Problem.ProblemDateTime))%></div> <div id="dvArrow<%= i = i + 1 %>" class="ArrowExpand"></div> </div> <div id="dvContent<%= i = i + 1 %>" class="Content" style="display: none"> <p> Type: <%= Html.Encode(item.Problem.CommunicationType.TypeName) %> </p> <p> Problem Outline: <%= Html.Encode(item.Problem.ProblemOutline)%> </p> <p> Mitigating Circumstance Form: <%= Html.Encode(item.Problem.MCF)%> </p> <p> Mitigating Circumstance Level: <%= Html.Encode(item.Problem.MitigatingCircumstanceLevel.MCLevel)%> </p> <p> Absent From: <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.Problem.AbsentFrom))%> </p> <p> Absent Until: <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.Problem.AbsentUntil))%> </p> <p> Requested Follow Up: <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.Problem.RequestedFollowUp))%> </p> <p>Problem Communications</p> <% foreach (var comm in Model) { %> <p> <% if (item.Problem.ProblemID == comm.ProblemID) { %> <%= Html.Encode(comm.ProblemCommunication.CommunicationOutline)%> <% } %> </p> <% } %> </div> </div> <br /> <% } %> </div> The issue is that using the example data before the Model has two records for the same problem as there are two communications for that problem, therefore duplicating the output. Any help with this would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Jon

Hello, I just came across various overloading methods like type of parameter passed, varying number of parameters, return type etc. I just want to know that can I overload a function with following two version //function which can modify member String& MyClass::doSomething(); //constant member function String& MyClass::doSomething() const; Please let me know the reason behind it. Thanks, GG

  • SSIS how to split a single record in to two different records?

    - by Dr. Zim
I have a Product record that has multiple "zoned" prices, one for each store that sells the product. ProductID int Name string PriceA money PriceB money PriceC money In SQL Server Integration Services, I need to split this in to multiple records: ProductID int Version string // A, B, or C Price money // PriceA if A, PriceB if B, etc. This would be within a Data Flow, I presume as a Transformation between Excel source and OLE DB destination. (Assuming OLE DB is a good destination for MS SQL server).

  • Insert a doctype into an XML document (Java/ SAX)

    - by Thom Nichols
Imagine you have an XML document and imagine you have the DTD but the document itself doesn't actually specify a DOCTYPE ... How would you insert the DOCTYPE declaration, preferably by specifying it on the parser (similar to how you can set the schema for a document that will be parsed) or by inserting the necessary SAX events via an XMLFilter or the like? I've found many references to EntityResolver, but that is what's invoked once a DOCTYPE is found during parsing and it's used to point to a local DTD file. EntityResolver2 appears to have what I'm looking for but I haven't found any examples of usage. This is the closest I've come thus far: (code is Groovy, but close enough that you should be able to understand it...) import org.xml.sax.* import org.xml.sax.ext.* import org.xml.sax.helpers.* class XmlFilter extends XMLFilterImpl { public XmlFilter( XMLReader reader ) { super(reader) } @Override public void startDocument() { super.startDocument() super.resolveEntity( null, 'file:///./entity.dtd') println "filter startDocument" } } class MyHandler extends DefaultHandler2 { public InputSource resolveEntity(String name, String publicId, String baseURI, String systemId) { println "entity: $name, $publicId, $baseURI, $systemId" return new InputSource(new StringReader('<!ENTITY asdf "&#161;">')) } } def handler = new MyHandler() def parser = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader() parser.setFeature 'http://xml.org/sax/features/use-entity-resolver2', true def filter = new XmlFilter( parser ) filter.setContentHandler( handler ) filter.setEntityResolver( handler ) filter.parse( new InputSource(new StringReader('''<?xml version="1.0" ?> <test>one &asdf; two! &nbsp; &iexcl;&pound;&cent;</test>''')) ); I see resolveEntity called but still hit org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The entity "asdf" was referenced, but not declared. at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.parsers.AbstractSAXParser.parse(AbstractSAXParser.java:1231) at org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLFilterImpl.parse(XMLFilterImpl.java:333) I guess this is because there's no way to add SAX events that the parser knows about, I can only add events via a filter that's upstream from the parser which are passed along to the ContentHandler. So the document has to be valid going into the XMLReader. Any way around this? I know I can modify the raw stream to add a doctype or possibly do a transform to set a DTD... Any other options?

  • Python Class which checks input before passing to console (C) program

    - by Joseph Melettukunnel
Hello, We are asked to write a web-frontend (in python) for a very complex (and old) console application, written in C. Since we have no access to the C Source Code, and we assume that there might be some unsafe methods, we'd like to check the input which will the passed to the console application. WebClient - Python Module - Console Application Do you have any suggestions or tips what we should check for? Right now we are only limiting the string length and filtering some (program specific) unallowed keywords. Thanks, Joseph EDIT: Will remove strings like %s because of format string attacks
