• Windows 2003 Server R2SP2 throws even ID 2269 after installing Excel WebPart in MOSS3

  We recently added an Excel workbook webpart (read only excel file - no editing) on our Sharepoint 2007 server. Once we did that, approximately 3-4 times an hour event ID 2269 is shown in the Application Log and a few minutes after that, an event id 1002 is displayed in the system long and the Sharepoint Offfce Servers Application pool shuts down. We've already check the "Bypass traverse checking and DCOM settings) per the MS KB and I have opened a ticket with MS Support. Problem is that MS Suppoert (sharepoint) thinks it is an IIS problem and the IIS people think it is a Sharepoint issue. Anyone else seen this problem? If we remove the Excel webpart, everything goes back to normal. The App Pools, SP and SP Central Admin sites are all using the same domain service account. Thanks in advance, Phil

• How to read a CLOB column in Oracle using OleDb ?

  Hi, I have created a table on an Oracle 10g database with this structure : create table myTable ( id number(32,0) primary key, myData clob ) I can insert rows in the table without any problem, but when I try to read data from the table using OleDb connection, I get an exception. Here is the code I use : using (OleDbConnection dbConnection = new OleDbConnection("ConnectionString")) { dbConnection.Open(); OleDbCommand dbCommand = dbConnection.CreateCommand(); dbCommand.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE id=?"; dbCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("ID", id); OleDbDataReader dbReader = dbCommand.ExecuteReader(); } The exception details seems to point on an unsupported data type : System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unspecified error Oracle error occurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle. Data type is not supported. Does anyone know how I can read this data using the OleDb connection ? PS : The driver used in this case is the Microsoft one.

  Hi all, Adobe Flash Player is set to automatically check for updates on Windows startup. I've always wondered where exactly it is set to do this. Checking the running services, as well as msconfig does not yield its location. The message in question looks like this: http://www.technipages.com/disable-an-update-to-your-adobe-flash-player-is-available-message-forever.html I know how to disable it via Adobe's web site (instructions are included in link above), but I'm interested in knowing where exactly in Windows is this set to perform this action? I have done some research on this, and people keep saying to check the following registry locations: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce or the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run However, I have checked those locations, and I still cannot locate where this updater is stored. I'm pretty sure that malware also uses this technique to automatically load upon startup, and since it's not in the typical location(s) that a user would look, it's well hidden.   Hi, Previously when I used IIS6, I used IIS6 Metabase Explorer to edit Metabase.xml and manually turned on compression, specified the compression level and the file extensions to compress. IIS7 seems a bit different, there is no Metabase.xml file in the system32\inetsrv folder. Enabling compression is easy to turn on by checking the checkbox in the Compression module. But how do I manually tweak and set the compression levels and file extensions to compress? I also ran across an article saying that IIS7 also automatically throttles the compression if your CPU load is 50% then compression is turned off. Where are all these settings located?

• Dell Vostro 1000 w/fresh XP Pro installation running very slow

  I'm working on a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop. It was running slowly and hanging, antivirus scans turned up nothing and the same with the Dell diagnostics (DFT hung - but Dell's diagnostics gave the HD a pass) so I imaged the HD and installed XP Pro on it. The laptop is still slow! (It takes a noticeable delay to enter words into the Google search box in IE and the computer hangs every time it enters the XP screensaver.) What are the likely possibilities at this point and how would I go about checking for them?

• App engine datastore - query on Enum fields.

  I am using GAE(Java) with JDO for persistence. I have an entity with a Enum field which is marked as @Persistent and gets saved correctly into the datastore (As observed from the Datastore viewer in Development Console). But when I query these entities putting a filter based on the Enum value, it is always returning me all the entities whatever value I specify for the enum field. I know GAE java supports enums being persisted just like basic datatypes. But does it also allow retrieving/querying based on them? Google search could not point me to any such example code. Details: I have printed the Query just before being executed. So in two cases the query looks like - SELECT FROM com.xxx.yyy.User WHERE role == super ORDER BY key desc RANGE 0,50 SELECT FROM com.xxx.yyy.User WHERE role == admin ORDER BY key desc RANGE 0,50 Both above queries return me all the User entities from datastore in spite of datastore viewer showing some Users are of type 'admin' and some are of type 'super'.

  I'm trying to simply test my RESTful API with cURL. Using the following invocation: curl -d "name=jimmy" -H "Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded" http://127.0.0.1:3000/people.xml -i Rails is dying though: ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken (ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken): :8:in `synchronize' Looks like it's running this through a protect_from_forgery filter. I thought protect_from_forgery is excluded for non-HTML HTTP POST/PUT/DELETE type requests? This is clearly targeting the XML format. If I pass actual XML content, it works. But my users will be submitting POST data as URL encoded parameters. I know all the various ways I can disable protect_from_forgery but what's the proper way of handling this? I want to leave it on so that when I do have HTML based forms and handle format.html, I don't forget to re-enable it for then. I want users to be able to make HTTP POST requests to my XML-based API though and not get bombarded with this.

• named-checkzone reports 'ns.example.com.ns' has no address records (A or AAAA)

  The first thing I see wrong is that its a recursion problem. But I'm not sure where the problems lie in my reverse lookup file. ns should report back as ns.example.com but instead getting ns.example.com.ns. Of course it wouldn't find any entries for that name because there isn't one, nor is it supposed to. Here's my reverse file: $TTL 86400 @ IN SOA ns.example.com root.example.com. ( 16071990 ; Serial 3600 ; Refresh 1800 ; Retry 604800 ; Expire 86400 ; Minimum TTL ) @ IN NS ns.example.com It's not extraordinarily complicated. What my question is, what other files affect the output for named-checkzone when checking a name against the revers file?

• Setup mutt to read through a threaded message and then return to the email index

  I have begun using mutt (terminal email client) recently and I have it setup very nicely and easy to use. My only gripe is that sometimes it is difficult to tell when I transition from one thread to the next. Is it possible to setup the bindings such that moving to the next-undeleted message would check if the next-undeleted message is in the same thread, and if that check is false it returns to the index or throws an error? For example, I currently have bind pager <down> next-undeleted bind pager } next-subthread Is there a more advanced function call that could perform this check? I haven't been able to find much on how to perform more complex function calls with such checks while checking out the manual. Any help would be appreciated.

How does this differ from the System.Lazy<...> construct now available in .NET 4.0 (and perhaps earlier)? More depth based on DoctaJones' great answer: Would you recommend one over the other if I wanted to operate on IQueryable as a List<T>? I'm assuming that since Lazy<T> is in the framework now, it is a safer bet for future support and maintainability? If I want to use a strong type instead of an anonymous (var) type would the following statements be functionally equivalent? Now, this style/template is applied to all my buttons, as expected, but it is NOT applied to those buttons which locally use a different style. For example, I want to have a certain margin for my "OK", "Apply" and "Cancel" buttons. First, I have xampplite installed on my windows c:\xampplite\ and then I created a symfony project (as described on getting started guide) c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\ Everything works fine when I tried to access http://localhost/symfonytest/web/ (all icons and text are displayed pretty well) Now I got to configure the httpd.conf and I type like this: <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1/symfonytest> DocumentRoot "c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\web" DirectoryIndex index.php <Directory "c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\web"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> Alias /sf c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\web\sf <Directory "c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\web\sf"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> But it has no effect at all ... when I type http://127.0.0.1/symfonytest/ it still displayed directory list of my c:\xampplite\htdocs\symfonytest\ How to solve this httpd.conf problem?   I saw a question yesterday which raised (for me) another question. Please look at the following code: public class Class1 { int A; //as I uderstand, int is value type and therefore lives in the stack } class Class2 { Run() { Class1 instance1 = new Class1(); instance1.A = 10; //it points to value type, but isnt this reference (on heap)? } } Or while creating the instance of Class1, its field types are created on the heap as well? But then I do not understand when it would really be on the stack as almost always you need to create an instance of object in order to use it fields.

  Big class contains Format-interfcase and Format-class. The Format-class contains the methods and the interface has the values of the fields. I could have the fields in the class Format but the goal is with Interface. So do I just create dummy-vars to get the errors away, design issue or something ELSE? KEY: Declaration VS Initialisation Explain by the terms, why you have to init in interface. What is the logic behind it? To which kind of problems it leads the use of interface?
