• How can I log into gmail in a script/program using HTTPS?

  My teacher has given me as an assignment to log into gmail and then send one e-mail or read the list of unread e-mails, but I can't use IMAP/POP3/SMTP or anything that isn't HTTP or HTTPS. I've tried looking for libraries in Ruby/Java to do it but nothing really worked for me. I tried looking at the gmail source code page but I couldn't really understand what was going on. The page seems to call a post method on a link, but sniffing the packets what I saw was a GET apparently using a session generated using the info I send. So sending it "raw" didn't work either. I've no idea what to do now.

• Where do I put the links to my Javascript/jQuery files in my html file?

  I recently noticed that some (not all) of my javascript and jQuery scripts wouldn't work unless I put the link for the .js files nearer towards the bottom of the page instead of the head area where I put my links for my .css files. From what I understand, javascript can go in either places and it is recommended to not be put in the header as it slows down the page loading process as well. At the same time, if I put it in the body tag of the html file, it looks somewhat messy and was wondering what the best practice is for putting .js files in a cleanly place. Should I always put it at the very bottom right before the ending body tag? How do professional web developers handle this?

  URL: Link (1) According to this wesbite .. you cannot implement Abstract classes but derive from them. This makes sense and I have read this many times. Like an interface, you cannot implement an instance of an abstract class, however you can implement methods, fields, and properties in the abstract class that can be used by the child class. But on MSDN URL: TextWriter CLass on MSDN TextWriter is an abstract class but it has two constructors defined ... and according to the MS 70-536 book, the following statement is valid: TextWriter tw = new File.CreateText("myFile.Txt") The static file class and it's CreateText method is fine by me as I have studied it on MSDN but can somebody explain this little contradiction I have found? Surely I am not the first? Why is instantaion of base abstract classes possible????

• Spring-webflow error popup tweak

  There is a link in a spring-webflow2 based application which start different flows. Flows are shown in popup (popup=true). If the session is expired or server is unavailable, the spring-webflow shows small empty popup with "Ajax Request Error" tooltip shown on mouse over. Is it possible to tweak the popup in order to give the user an ability to either re-login or to just close the popup and retry the request? EDIT: Or maybe some ideas how to force Spring-Dojo to make a redirect to login page?

• CSS Only Selecting Certain Classes

  Hi I'm working with a Wordpress template. I have a separate template page for the blog section. On the other pages of the site I have class that works fine and looks like this .post header h2 { display:none; } On the blog page, I add this to the CSS and it works as it should #main .post header h2 { display:block; } However if I try that with other classes like #main .wrapper { background-color:#000000; } Nothing happens. But how do you link to an assembly in .NET? Does he mean, load the assembly using Reflection (Assembly.LoadFile())? Or, the Win32 API LoadLibrary()? Or, does .NET have a linker that I have never heard of?

• "digg" button and encoded url :S

  Hi! I wrote a php site (it's still a prototype) and i placed a "Digg" button. Placing the button was easy but.... Official manual says "url has to be encoded". I did that with urlencode(). After urlencode, my url looks like this: http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mysite.com%2Fen%2Fredirect.php%3Fl%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.othersite.rs%2FNews%2FWorld%2F227040%2FRusia-Airplane-crashed%26N%3DRusia%3A+Airplane+crashed So far, so good but when i want to submit that url to digg, it is recognized as invalid url: http://www.mysite.com/en/redirect.php?l=http://www.othersite.rs/News/World/227040/Rusia-Airplane-crashed&N=Rusia:+Airplane crashed If i place a "+" between "Airplane" and "crashed" (mere end of a link), then digg recognize it without any problems! Please help, this bizare problem is killing my braincells! P.S. for purpose of this answer urls are changed (nonexisting) because, in original, non-english sites are involved P.S.S.   I have downloaded databasename.bak file from my hosting company, when i tried to restore that DB file in SQL server 2008 it is keep on giving me following error. The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) According to this error and from following link http://www.sqlcoffee.com/Troubleshooting047.htm It is clear that either file i am downloading is corrupt or it is getting corrupted on the way? Any idea, why I am keep on receiving this error? I tried almost all ways but unable to fix this problem, please help me.

  Is it possible to configure Hibernate reverse engineering and code generation tool in such a way that one-to-many relation between tables is mapped to entities inheritance instead of enrites relation? I have Person table and Employee table, which are related with the foreign key (Person contains basic information, Employee the rest). In my Java code I would like this relation mapped to inheritance Employee extends Person. This can be done by hand, but maybe I missed some custom configuration parameter that I can use. I couldn't find any official documentation - docs link on RedHat Hibernate page (http://www.hibernate.org/5.html#A10) is broken...

  I have a photo gallery I'm trying to set a picture as the cover for the album. I have a field cover_id in the albums table that has already been linked to the photos through the model. I'm passing the album_id and photo_id to the controller. I want to update the album.cover_id passed thru the params with the photo_id passed thru the params. Is there a way to do this or a way to make the link a form without having it look like or form or changing much of the CSS?

• Redirect failing - "...will never complete"

  I am trying to redirect a blog page to a newly updated page. The old entry is gone, but it is indexed in Google, and other people have links to it. I get this error: "The page isn't redirecting properly" "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." The (deleted) link looks like this: "http://mysite.com/blog/?p=158" I want to redirect that to "http://mysite.com/blog/?p=194" I used CPANEL to do a permanent (301) redirect. (I have other redirects working.) I gues the ? is causing a problem. How do I fix it so the page redirects? (Please give instructions for CPANEL - the server has Frontpage extensions, and I don't bother with re-researching how to do it manually - the multiple files that need updated.)

  Hi! Can someone explain to me(not a rocket scientist) all the steps for installing XAMPP for a EC2 instance running Linux? And yes I have look the entire web and found nothing, except this "Deploying a lamp stack" and this "Starting Amazon EC2 with Mac OS X". I found the latter one more useful, but as a said I'm not a rocket scientist. I got stuck in to the latter link where I should edit the file .bash_profile with a text editor. I tried the "vi" in SSH, but why can't I open it on textEditor included in all Macs? Is there any easier way to setting up a XAMPP server for a linux server in EC2?

• Detecting Screen Resolution to load alternative CSS a good idea?

  Im working with a graphic designer who constantly wants to make websites larger than the 960 pixels i recommend. I can do a certain amount with liquid layouts but id really love to be able to load different CSS for larger resolutions.   Hi, I'm developing a web site with asp.net on localhost, I'm beginner. I wrote a login page and it works well. However when I click a link, the server can't load the page and gives this error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Any idea?

  Hello, Another quick question. I'd like to release some updates for a WinForm program, but to date I have simply released an all-new compile. People have to un-install the old version and install the new version. I bet there's a way to get around this, but I don't know what it's called.   I have a facebook app that I authenticate using a general-purpose authentification. Because it's a facebook app I can't run the authentification in the iFrame. Facebook denies this using X-Frame-Options. The solution, if you authenticate with a link is to use target="_top". How do i Achieve the same effect in javascript? Maybe I need to edit one of the funcitons (though ideally not, as they are part of a library) in that case please point me in the right direction.

• phpMyAdmin - can't connect - invalid setings - ever since I added a root password - locked out

  I run XAMPP, a few days back i had set up a password for the root password through phpmyadmin I am not able to access phpMyAdmin ever since that moment I followed help on this link but everything seems fine there (in config.inc.php). I even tried unistalling xampp fully, restarting windows and then reinstalling xampp, but still pointing to localhost/phpmyadmin I get the following error MySQL said: Cannot connect: invalid settings. phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. I Also tried to reset root password through mysqld.bat as given on mysql's website help but to no avail Please Help!
