• How do I get events to execute on the "main thread"

  I have 2 classes, one is frmMain a windows form and the other is a class in vb.NET 2003. frmMain contains a start button which executes the monitor function in the other class. My question is, I am manually adding the event handlers -- when the events are executed how do I get them to excute on the "main thread". Because when the tooltip balloon pops up at the tray icon it displays a second tray icon instead of popping up at the existing tray icon. I can confirm that this is because the events are firing on new threads because if I try to display a balloon tooltip from frmMain it will display on the existing tray icon. • PyQt - QLabel inheriting

  Hello, i wanna inherit QLabel to add there click event processing. I'm trying this code: class NewLabel(QtGui.QLabel): def __init__(self, parent): QtGui.QLabel.__init__(self, parent) def clickEvent(self, event): print 'Label clicked!' But after clicking I have no line 'Label clicked!' EDIT: Okay, now I'm using not 'clickEvent' but 'mousePressEvent'. And I still have a question. How can i know what exactly label was clicked? For example, i have 2 edit box and 2 labels. Labels content are pixmaps. So there aren't any text in labels, so i can't discern difference between labels. How can i do that?   I'm running a Magento based website store on Linux/Apache. In order that user logins are maintained, I've set my cookie lifetime to be close to two years. The cookies are sent out with the right times, I can see them in my browsers. When I visit the site from a previously logged-in browser after about a day, the user is logged out. I can still see the cookies, with their extended life, present in the browser. Where should I start looking to get to the bottom of this issue?

  I am working on sending and receiving from clients and servers in java, and am stumped at the moment. the client socket is to contact a server at “localhost” port 4321. The client will receive a string from the server and alternate spelling the contents of this string with the server. For example, given the string “Bye Bye”, the client (which always begins sending the first letter) sends “B”, receives “y”, sends “e”, receives “ ”, sends “B”, receives “y”, sends “e”, and receives “done!”, which is the string that either client or server will send after the last letter from the original string is received. After “done!” is transmitted, both client and server close their communications. • __doPostBack is undefined on DotNetNuke website for IE 10

  I have a DotNetNuke site, and today a customer called in and said it wasn't working on IE 10. Specifically the login and register links weren't working, but they do in compatibility mode. I took a look on our test windows 8 machine and saw that it was failing because __doPostBack was undefined. I've been searching for a fix for the last 6ish hours, and what I've been able to find is that apparently the IE10 user agent is covered in the ie.browser file and that I should install this hotfix and reboot the server. That didn't work. I haven't noticed any changes, even though I think the new ie.browser file should match the new user agent. What other steps can I take to fix the problem? Note: the server is running .NET 3.5 with service pack 1 on Windows server 2003. The site is running DotNetNuke 05.06.02. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  I am working on a project to convert OCR'd PDf to png using ImageMagick and ghostscript and display in the browser so that i can select words in the image by letting a user query for the word . Imagemagick works fine along with ghostscript . I have a problem with the ps2text utility where it does not work reliably with pdf's . could anybody suggest a good utility to convert postscript to text in Linux so that i can store it in a db . thereafter i use a custom written search class to find out the co-ordinates of each word and highlight the text in the browser .   I have 'div' element (recaptchaDiv) in knockout template which is not bound to any observable field: <div id="recaptchaDiv"></div> On the other hand, I update this 'div' by 3rd party library. In particular, this is google recaptcha. This is my code: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); And it doesn't work (I see nothing). What I know: trying on FF console: $("#recaptchaDiv").html() - it shows the expected html code, I just can't see it in the browser What I tried: to move recaptchaDiv outside of the template and it works: I can see the captcha in the browser to bind recaptchaDiv on html property: in the template: <div id="recaptchaDiv" data-bind="html: recaptcha"></div> in the model: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); recaptcha($("#recaptchaDiv").html()); and it doesn't work (replacing jquery on document.getElementById doesn't help) Any help will be very much appreciated!!! • [PHP] - Lowering script memory usage in a "big" file creation

  Hi there people, it looks like I'm facing a typical memory outage problem when using a PHP script. The script, originally developed by another person, serves as an XML sitemap creator, and on large websites uses quite a lot of memory. I thought that the problem was related due to an algorithm holding data in memory until the job was done, but digging into the code I have discovered that the script works in this way: open file in output (will contain XML sitemap entries) in the loop: ---- for each entry to be added in sitemap, do fwrite close file end Although there are no huge arrays or variables being kept in memory, this technique uses a lot of memory. I thought that maybe PHP was buffering under the hood the fwrites and "flushing" data at the end of the script, so I have modified the code to close and open the file every Nth record, but the memory usage is still the same.... I'm debugging the script on my computer and watching memory usage: while script execution runs, memory allocation grows. Is there a particular technique to instruct PHP to free unsed memory, to force flushing buffers if any? Thanks

• Flex 3 and flash player caching

  hi, i pass text strings from a configuration file into my Flex app, one of the strings i pass in is a mailto link which i use to allow users of my app to send me feedback. I recently needed to change this link however when i updated the link in my config file the change did not happen instantly in my Flex app. In fact i had to clear my cache (both browser and flash player) before the change showed up. This of course is fine for me but how can i be sure that users of the application also get the updated content? Is there a way to force a refresh of data loaded into my swf on other users browsers? Finally is this an issue with my browser cache or the Flash player cache? Does the flash player only keep such data, like my email address, in memory while the app is in use and then clear once it is closed or does it cache this data for the next time the user wants to use the app? • qTip pop ups come in from top left of screen (on first load)

  Hi, not sure if i'm set things up incorrectly - I don't seem to see anyone else with this problem, but my qTip popups (all ajax loaded content) are loading quite erratically, in that they are often animating in from off screen before appearing in the correct position. Is there a simple solution to this which I may have missed? Thanks again for your help. • Share Link - Perform action in background

  I have an application that will accept URLs from the built in web browser via the "Share page" menu item. I'm using the send intent and it works just fine. However, I'd like to accept a URL and process it in the background without bringing my application to the front. I don't want the user to have to actually leave the web browser. It will notify the user it has finished processing the URL with a Toast message. I'm just not sure what type of activity should be used for this. A good example of this behavior is the "Read Later" instapaper application in the android market. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi, Is there a way in flex 3 chart component to display both the date and time using horizontal DateTimeAxis? Currently the DateTimeAxis element has an attribute dataunits which allows to set the value to any of "milliseconds|seconds|minutes|hours|days|weeks|months|years" but I want to display the label as "2009/09/15 06:00:00" which includes the day and the time too.   Hi Kernel Gurus, I'm currently writing a simple "multicaster" module. Only one process can open a proc filesystem file for writing, and the rest can open it for reading. To do so i use the inode_operation .permission callback, I check the operation and when i detect someone open a file for writing I set a flag ON. i need a way to detect if a process that opened a file for writing has decided to close the file so i can set the flag OFF, so someone else can open for writing. Currently in case someone is open for writing i save the current-pid of that process and when the .close callback is called I check if that process is the one I saved earlier. Is there a better way to do that? Without saving the pid, perhaps checking the files that the current process has opened and it's permission... Thanks!

• Detecting a message box opened in another application

  I am developing a windows service, in vb .et, that launches a legacy application that performs some work. The service acts as a wrapper around the legacy app allowing users to automate an otherwise manual operation. Everything is working great, except occasionally the legacy app displays a messagebox. When it does this the process halts until the message box is closed. As the service will be running on a server there will be no user to close the message box. The service launches the legacy application in a System.Diagnostics.Process. My question is, is there way to detect that a message box has been displayed by a process that I have started using System.Diagnostics.Process and is there a way to through code to close the messagebox. • On activate does not fire with my Modal/Pop-Up form to Requery

  I have a modal/pop-up form frmEditContact open on this form there is a combo box full of addressescmbAddressList, populated by a query. when the user wants to add an address that doesn't exist there is a button that opens the frmAddress where they may add an address. frmAddress allows them to enter an address to the list and gives the option to save, or cancel (both actions close the form after). with this form closed, the focus is now again on frmEditContact I would like to repopulate the combo box using docmd.Requery cmbAddressList after they close the other form I'm not sure where to handle this, I've tried On Avtivate, On Load, On Update, On Open, On Focus...but none of them fire as I keep the frmEditContact open when they are using the other form is there a way to keep frmEditContact open the whole time, but still an action Event that will fire so that I can Requery? And does On Activate not work with modal forms?

• Ruby string encoding problem

  I've looked at the other ruby/encoding related posts but haven't been able to figure out why the following is not working. Likely just because I'm dense, but here's the situation. Using Ruby 1.9 on windows. I have a set of CSV files that need some data appended to the end of each line. Whenever I run my script, the appended characters are gibberish. The input text appears to be IBM437 encoding, whereas my string I'm appending starts as US-ASCII. Nothing I've tried with respect to forcing encoding on the input strings or the append string seems to change the resultant output. I'm stumped. Is this the best way to do this and do I have to just live with the fact that it eats this much CPU already on this point?

• dijit hovering MenuItem issue

  I have a dijit.layout.TabContainer on my form. I resize the browser window in such a way that all tabs won't fit in a single screen. In this case dijit automatically adds a drop-down button at the right end of the TabContainer (I get this for free). If I click on the drop-down button then I get the full List of Tab Names. Hovering over the List of Tab Names (which is in fact a collection of menu items) it blanks out the menu item name which I'm currently over. e.g. Full List: Tab1 Tab2 Tab3 Hovering over Tab2 I get: Tab1 Tab3 I get the same issue with any other dijit.Menu, dijit.MenuItem AND I get the same issue on IE, Firefox, Chrome. I haven't tested on any other browser. Thanks.
