• Problem running a simple EJB application

  I am currently running a simple EJB application using a stateless Session Bean. I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE. I don't know whether it is relevent but I am running Windows7 64-bit version. The Session Bean I implemented has just one method sayHello(); which just prints hello on the screen.   I'm wondering how to convert a List of one type to an array of another type in Java using Dozer. The two types have all the same property names/types. For example, consider these two classes. public class A{ private String test = null; public String getTest(){ return this.test } public void setTest(String test){ this.test = test; } } public class B{ private String test = null; public String getTest(){ return this.test } public void setTest(String test){ this.test = test; } } I've tried this with no luck. List<A> listOfA = getListofAObjects(); Mapper mapper = DozerBeanMapperSingletonWrapper.getInstance(); B[] bs = mapper.map(listOfA, B[].class); I've also tried using the CollectionUtils class. CollectionUtils.convertListToArray(listOfA, B.class) Neither are working for me, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? The mapper.map function works fine if I create two wrapper classes, one containing a List and the other a b[].   I'm trying to find out what data/error jquery's .load() method is returning in the following code (the #content element is blank so I assume there is some kind of error). Where do I find in Firebug what content or error .load() is returning? • how to load an image to a grid using pygame, instead of just using a fill color?

  I am trying to create a "map of a city" using pygame. I want to be able to put images of buildings in specific grid coords rather than just filling them in with a color. I've tried some of the samples online but can't seem to get them to work. Any help is appreciated. If anyone have a good source for free sprites that I can use for pygame, please let me know.   I am trying to implement a naive bayseian approach to find the topic of a given document or stream of words. Is there are Naive Bayesian approach that i might be able to look up for this ? Also, i am trying to improve my dictionary as i go along. Initially, i have a bunch of words that map to a topics (hard-coded). Depending on the occurrence of the words other than the ones that are already mapped. And depending on the occurrences of these words i want to add them to the mappings, hence improving and learning about new words that map to topic. And also changing the probabilities of words. How should i go about doing this ? Is my approach the right one ? Which programming language would be best suited for the implementation ?

• CLASSPATH on MAC, and how does MAC look for mysql-connector-java-bin.jar

  Is there a default classpath on mac OSX10.6. When I echo $CLASSPATH, nothing would show up. In my .profile, I only see PATH variable being set. My problem is that My servlet cant seem to find a suitable driver to connect to the mysql server. I use Eclipse, with Glassfish v3 and MAMP for MYSQL server.

How to define a primary key in a table, and also map this key to another table ?

Usually you want to use the same event handler for all download items, so it's a bit annoying to have to set the event handlers over and over again for each DownloadItem. • gcc compiling error on Solaris 10

  I want to compile a source code, but there are some compiling errors about __sync_xxx functions (__sync_bool_compare_and_swap etc.) GCC version on machine is 3.4.3 (it must be gcc 4.1 or over for supporting atomic builtins), so I have downloaded GCC v4.6, copied it to another directory (I didn't remove v3.4.3) then change the $PATH path for GCC but it doesn't work (the same error occurs). I want to ask that is only changing gcc path with export PATH=... enough for compiling with new GCC?

• user table with javaDB and Hibernate from within grails

  let's see if I can ask this in an understandable way... I started with grails and created a domain class called user. As far as I understand, Hibernate is used to map this domain class to the database. This works pretty fine with hsqldb. Now I tried to switch to javaDB and get an error message because the table is called "user" (which seems to be a reserved word for javaDB). So a statement like create table user ... will result in an error message. create table "user" ... works, but Hibernate seems not put put the table name in quotes. How can I configure Hibernate to use quotes in order to make it work with my table name? PS: yes, I know, I could map the domain class to another table name... :-)

  I though returning false would be enough to cancel the link action, but apparently it isn't. When I click the link in the code below I do get the 'click' message, which is expected. Naively I assumed the former would perform better than the later because gL is precomputed whereas G_of 1L has to be computed 100,000 times (at least it appears that way).

  Is there a Pool class for worker threads, similar to the multiprocessing module's Pool class? I like for example the easy way to parallelize a map function def long_running_func(p): c_func_no_gil(p) p = multiprocessing.Pool(4) xs = p.map(long_running_func, range(100)) however I would like to do it without the overhead of creating new processes. I know about the GIL. However, in my usecase, the function will be an IO-bound C function for which the python wrapper will release the GIL before the actual function call. Do I have to write my own threading pool?

• Get children count via HQL

  Hi, I have a one-to-many mapping between a parent entity and child entities. Now I need to find the number of children associated with each parent for a list of parents. I am trying to do this with HQL but I am not sure how I can get the list of parents in there. Also, I don't know how I can return the entity itself and not just its ID. My current HQL query is: select new map(parent.id as parentId, count(*) as childCount) from Parent parent left join parent.children children group by parent.id but this only returns the ID and does not filter on specific parents. EDIT Based on Pascal's answer I have modified the query to select new map(parent as parent, count(elements(parent.children)) as childCount) from Parent parent group by parent That does work, but is prohibitively slow: 30 seconds instead of 400 ms on the same database.

• Creating a new nested resource

  I'm working on a basic garden logging application which consists of gardens, plants and planted plants. Each user has one or many gardens, plants are master definitions, and a planted plant can be thought of as an instance of a plant in a specific user's garden. In my routes.rb file I have the following: map.resources :gardens do |gardens| gardens.resources :planted_plants, :has_many => :plant_log_entries, :collection => { :filter => :post, :choose_garden => :post} gardens.resources :garden_log_entries end map.resources :plants This makes sense to me when retrieving a list of planted_plants in a user's garden, but I'd like to create a planted_plant record from the index of plant. The problem is, a user can have multiple gardens. How can I create a new form for a planted_plant that allows the user to specify which garden should be used? The current route requires a garden_id - which makes sense for retrieval, but I'd like to supply that as a parameter for creation. Thanks in advance for any help!

  I needed to filter a list of results using the combination of two properties. A plain SQL statement would look like this: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM Person WHERE FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE '%' + @Term + '%' The ICriteria in NHibernate that I ended up using was: ICriteria criteria = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Person)); criteria.Add(Expression.Sql( "FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE ?", "%" + term + "%", NHibernateUtil.String)); criteria.SetMaxResults(10); It works perfectly, but I'm not sure if it is the ideal solution since I'm still learning about NHibernate's Criteria API. What are the recommended alternatives? Is there something besides Expression.Sql that would perform the same operation? I tried Expression.Like but couldn't figure out how to combine the first and last names. Should I map a FullName property to the formula "FirstName + ' ' + LastName" in the mapping class? Should I create a read only FullName property on the domain object then map it to a column?

• Visual Studio 2008 ClickOnce cannot find exe in obj\Release

  Project Output Path of the the main application is set to ......\bin\Release\ and was published flawlessly by ClickOnce before. For some strange reason, ClickOnce now fails with the following error: "Could not find file 'obj\Release\EMS.OCC600.Infrastructure.Shell.exe'. c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets 2341 9 Infrastructure.Shell" Anyone run into this before? • Tuples of unknown size/parameter types

  I need to create a map, from integers to sets of tuples, the tuples in a single set have the same size. The problem is that the size of a tuple and its parameter types can be determined at runtime, not compile time. I am imagining something like: std::map<int, std::set<boost::tuple> > but not exctly sure how to exactly do this, bossibly using pointers. The purpose of this is to create temporary relations (tables), each with a unique identifier (key), maybe you have another approach.
