• MPXJ in .NET converting java Date to .NET DateTime

  I'm using the MPXJ library in .NET for parsing MS Project (MPP) files, and it's working great. The one issue I'm having is trying to translate the task Start and Finish date into .NET DateTime to use with my data models. I am going through all the tasks and calling task.getFinish() and task.getStart() that both return javva.util.Date objects. When I use task.getFinish().getYear(), task.getFinish().getMonth(), etc. to build up a new DateTime object it warns me that they are obsolete. What is the best way to get the start and finish dates from MPXJ into a .NET DateTime object? Thanks.

• how to put jcheckbox to table cell?

  Hello, I cannot put jChceckBox to jTable cell. More likely I can put checkBox to table, but when I run module with that table, the cell where should be checkBox shows text "true" or "false". The behaviors of that cell are the same like checkbox, but it shows text value instead of checkbox. Here is the code. • Add C pointer to NSMutableArray

  I am writing an Objective-C program that deals with low level image memory. I am using ANSI-C structs for my data storage -- Full blown objects seem overkill seeing as the data I am storing is 100% data, with no methods to operate on that data. Specifically, I am writing a customizable posterization algorithm which relies on an array of colors -- This is where things get tricky. I am storing my colors as structs of three floats, and an integer flag (related to the posterization algorithm specifically). Everyhting is going well, except for one thing... [actual question] I can't figure out how to add pointers to an NSMutableArray! I know how to add an object, but adding a pointer to a struct seems to be more difficult -- I do not want NSMutableArray dereferencing my pointer and treating the struct as some sort of strange object. I want NSMutableArray to add the pointer its self to its collection. How do I go about doing this? Thanks in advance, G

• Resetting Objects vs. Constructing New Objects

  Is it considered better practice and/or more efficient to create a 'reset' function for a particular object that clears/defaults all the necessary member variables to allow for further operations, or to simply construct a new object from outside? I've seen both methods employed a lot, but I can't decide which one is better. Of course, for classes that represent database connections, you'd have to use a reset method rather than constructing a new one resulting in needless connecting/disconnecting, but I'm talking more in terms of abstraction classes. Can anyone give me some real-world examples of when to use each method? In my particular case I'm thinking mostly in terms of ORM or the Model in MVC. For example, if I would want to retrieve a bunch of database objects for display and modify them in one operation.

• Can I embed video on external sites while still using tokens to protect the content?

  On our own website, it's easy to protect against direct links to our video content by grabbing a token through AJAX and verifying the token through PHP before the file download is started. However I'm also researching how I could provide an embed feature, like YouTube or vimeo etc., without compromising this security feature. The problem is that the embed code I want to provide should look something like <object>...<embed>...</embed></object> -- but I don't know how to grab and append the token to the filename. I mean, I guess I could attach a script that did some gnarly JNOP business, but that's too dirty. I'm using JW Player for the actual video container. Huge thanks to anyone who can help...

• List<> of objects, different types, sort and pull out types individually?

  I've got a handful of products, any, all, or none of which may be associated with a specific submission. All 7 products are subclasses of the class Product. I need to store all the products associated with a submission, and then retrieve them and their field data on my presentation layer. I've been using a List, and List, but when I use the OfType, I throw an error saying that I can't implicitly convert systems.generic.IEnumerable to type 'Product'. I've tried to cast, but to no avail. When I use prodlist.OfType<EPL>(); there are no errors, but when I try and store that in an instance of EPL "tempEpl", I get the aforementioned cast-related error. What gives? Code below.   I have the following table, which is used for storing bandings. The table is maintained via a web frontend. CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Banding]( [BandingID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [ValueLowerLimitOperator] [varchar](10) NULL, [ValueLowerLimit] [decimal](9, 2) NULL, [ValueUpperLimitOperator] [varchar](10) NULL, [ValueUpperLimit] [decimal](9, 2) NULL, [VolumeLowerLimitOperator] [varchar](10) NULL The operator fields store values such as < = <=. I want to get to a position where I can use the operators values stored in the table in a case statement in a where clause. Like this. SELECT * FROM table WHERE CASE ValueLowerLimitOperator WHEN '<' THEN VALUE < X WHEN '>' THEN VALUE > X END rather than having to write mutiple case or if statements for each permutation. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can decode the operators values stored in the table as part of my query and then use them in a case/where statement?

• Web2py controllers with parameters?

  I am building an app using Web2py framework... I don't want to have to use the request object to get all of the querystring parameters, instead I'd like to build my controller with named parameters and have the router unpack the querystring (or form data) dictionary into the named parameters and call my controller. so instead of a controller method of create_user(): where I would use the global request() object and look through the vars list... I would prefer instead to have create_user(first_name, last_name, email): like I see in other MVC platforms. is this possible in Web2py already? or is there a plugin for it? or do I need to add that myself?

• Why calling ISet<dynamic>.Contains() compiles, but throws an exception at runtime?

  Please, help me to explain the following behavior: dynamic d = 1; ISet<dynamic> s = new HashSet<dynamic>(); s.Contains(d); The code compiles with no errors/warnings, but at the last line I get the following exception: Unhandled Exception: Microsoft.CSharp.RuntimeBinder.RuntimeBinderException: 'System.Collections.Generic.ISet<object>' does not contain a definition for 'Contains' at CallSite.Target(Closure , CallSite , ISet`1 , Object ) at System.Dynamic.UpdateDelegates.UpdateAndExecuteVoid2[T0,T1](CallSite site, T0 arg0, T1 arg1) at FormulaToSimulation.Program.Main(String[] args) in As far as I can tell, this is related to dynamic overload resolution, but the strange things are (1) If the type of s is HashSet<dynamic>, no exception occurs. (2) If I use a non-generic interface with a method accepting a dynamic argument, no exception occurs. Thus, it looks like this problem is related particularly with generic interfaces, but I could not find out what exactly causes the problem. Is it a bug in the compiler/typesystem, or legitimate behavior?

  I'm attempting to use the PHP DateTime class on a server with PHP 5.2.6, with a test server running PHP 5.3. Here is the code: <?php try { $dt = new DateTime('2009-10-08'); $dt->setDate(2009,10,8); print_r($dt); }catch (Exception $e) { echo $e->getMessage(); } On the test server, things work flawlessly, this is what prints: DateTime Object ( [date] => 2009-10-08 00:00:00 [timezone_type] => 3 [timezone] => America/New_York ) On the server I need to use it on, however, this is what prints: DateTime Object ( ) Removing the setDate makes no difference whatsoever. Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks!

  I'm making a universal iPad/iPhone app which can use the iPad's VGA out connector to mirror the content of the app on an external screen. • How to programaticaly gain root privileges ?

  I am writing a software (in C++, for Linux/Mac OSX) which runs as a non-privileged user and but needs root privileges at some point (to create a new virtual device). Running this program as root is not a option (mainly for security issues) and I need to know the identity (uid) of the "real" user. Is there a way to mimic the "sudo" command behavior (ask for user password) to temporarily gain root privileges and perform the particular task ? If so, which functions would I use ? • Dojo slider: update value dynamically

  I am building an application where the user browses certain objects by scrolling and zooming. To change the zoom level I have successfully implemented a "dijit.form.HorizontalSlider" object. Every time the user changes the position of the silder, I can catch the "onChange" call and do something with that. However, the user can also zoom-in by double clicking inside the view zone, at which point the slider should change position automatically to reflect the new zoom level. My question is the following: what function or method should I call in my javascript to update the position of a dojo silder ? • Django json serialization problem

  I am having difficulty serializing a django object. The problem is that there are foreign keys. I want the serialization to have data from the referenced object, not just the index. For example, I would like the sponsor data field to say "sponsor.last_name, sponsor.first_name" rather than "13".   I know how to override an object's getattr() to handle calls to undefined object functions. However, I would like to achieve the same behavior for the builtin getattr() function. • Passing Auth to API calls with Web Service References

  I am new to web services. The last time I dealt with SOAP was when I created a bunch of wrapper classes that sent requests and received responses back per some response objects/classes I had created. So I had an object to send certain API requests and likewise a set of objects to hold the response back as an object so I could utilize that 3rd party API. Then someone came to me and said why not just use the wsdl and a web service. Ok, so today I went and created a "Service Reference". I see that this is what's called a "Proxy Class". You just instantiate an instance of this and then walla you have access to all the methods from the wsdl. But this leaves me with auth questions. Back when I created my own classes manually, I had a class which exposed properties that I would set then access for things like signature, username, password that got sent along with the Http request that were required by whatever 3rd party API I was using to make API calls. But then with using a Service Reference, how then would I pass this information just like I had done in my custom classes? For instance I'm going to be working with the PayPal API. It requires you to send a signature and a few other pieces of information like username and password. // Determins if API call needs to use a session based URI string requestURI = UseAuthURI == true ? _requestURIAuthBased + aSessionID : _requestURI; byte[] data = XmlUtil.DocumentToBytes(doc); // Create the atual Request instance HttpWebRequest request = CreateWebRequest(requestURI, data.Length); So how do I pass username, password, signature, etc. when using web service references for each method call? Is it as simple as specifying it as a param to the method or do you use the .Credentials and .URL methods of your proxy class object? It seems to me Credentials means windows credentials but I could be wrong. Is it limited to that or can you use that to specify those required header values that PayPal expects with each method call/API request?

• How to get the right order for creation of stored procedure, user-defined functions and triggers

  I read that object dependencies have been improved in SQL server 2008. I have a rather complex database schema containing stored procedure, user-defined functions, triggers. Can anybody give me a query that would return the right order of creation of those items based on their dependencies ? I read here that there are tools that can do the job, but I am looking for something scriptable. Also, they often give the dependencies of one object and I would like a database-wide solution. Thank you.
