  • XmlSerializer.Deserialize method appends timezone to a time and datetime field

    Have a small script in Microsoft.NET 2.0 that deserializes a XML back to a typed object, connects dyanimcally to a web service using ServiceDescription and binds the deserialized typed object to the WebMethod inbound. The XML prior to serialization looks like below <completion_time>12:19:38</completion_time> on the wire when communicating to the web service looks like below <completion_time>12:19:38.0000000-04:00</completion_time> with the timezone appended to the end. This is causing the time to be read differently when communicating to a web service at a different timezone. is there anyway to let XmlSerializer skip the timezone? Or any other known workarounds?

    In the nautilus-python bindings, there is a file "nautilus.defs". It contains stanzas like (define-interface MenuProvider (in-module "Nautilus") (c-name "NautilusMenuProvider") (gtype-id "NAUTILUS_TYPE_MENU_PROVIDER") ) or (define-method get_mime_type (of-object "NautilusFileInfo") (c-name "nautilus_file_info_get_mime_type") (return-type "char*") ) Now I can see what most of these do (eg. that last one means that I can call the method "get_mime_type" on a "FileInfo" object). But I'd like to know: what is this file, exactly (ie. what do I search the web for to find out more info)? Is it a common thing to find in Python/C bindings? What is the format, and where is it documented? What program actually processes it? (So far, I've managed to glean that it gets transformed into a C source file, and it looks a bit like lisp to me.)

  • Why do SQL connection leave parameters in?

    While coding with sqlite everytime i always had the exact number of parameters and when i executed the query i always had 0 parameters after it. I kept using the cmd object and it worked fine. Now while porting to use sql server (2008) my SqlConnection has parameters left over from a successful command. Why? I seem to be able to create tables without the problem (then again i may have use a clone of an empty cmd since i use recursion). Does SqlCommand always leave the parameters in after a query? This always breaks the following query unless i do parameter.clear(). Should i create a new SqlCommand object? or use parameter.clear() each time? I'm somewhat confused.

  • Using XAML + designer to edit Plain Old CLR Objects?

    I want to write a POCO in XAML, and use a DataTemplate to display that object in the GUI at runtime. So far, so good; I know how to do all that. Since I'll already have a DataTemplate that can transform my POCO into a WPF visual tree, is there any way to get the Visual Studio designer to play along, and have the Design View show me the POCO+DataTemplate's resulting GUI, as I edit the POCO's XAML? (Obviously the designer wouldn't know how to edit the "design view"; I wouldn't expect the Toolbox or click-and-drag to work on the design surface. That's fine -- I just want to see a preview as I edit.) If you're curious, the POCOs in question would be level maps for a game. (At this point, I'm not planning to ship an end-user map editor, so I'll be doing all the editing myself in Visual Studio.) So the XAML isn't WPF GUI objects like Window and UserControl, but it's still not something where I would want to blindly bang out some XAML and hope for the best. I want to see what I'm doing (the GUI map) as I'm doing it. If I try to make a XAML file whose root is my map object, the designer shows "Intentionally Left Blank - The document root element is not supported by the visual designer." It does this even if I've defined a DataTemplate in App.xaml's <Application.Resources>. But I know the designer can show my POCO, when it's inside a WPF object. One possible way of accomplishing what I want would be to have a ScratchUserControl that just contains a ContentPresenter, and write my POCO XAML inside that ContentPresenter's Content property, e.g.: <UserControl ...> <ContentPresenter> <ContentPresenter.Content> <Maps:Map .../> </ContentPresenter.Content> </ContentPresenter> </UserControl> But then I would have to be sure to copy the content back out into its own file when I was done editing, which seems tedious and error-prone, and I don't like tedious and error-prone. And since I can preview my XAML this way, isn't there some way to do it without the UserControl?

    I have two tables Publishers and Campaigns, both have similar many-to-many relationships with Countries,Regions,Languages and Categories. more info Publisher2Categories has publisherID and categoryID which are foreign keys to publisherID in Publishers and categoryID in Categories which are identity columns. On other side i have Campaigns2Categories with campaignID and categoryID columns which are foreign keys to campaignID in Campaigns and categoryID in Categories which again are identities. Same goes for Regions, Languages and Countries relationships I pass to query certain publisherID and want to get campaignIDs of Campaigns that have at least one equal to Publisher value from regions, countries, language or categories thanks

  • Ado.Net Entity produces "namespace cannot be found"

    I've seen several possible solutions to this, but none have worked for me. After adding a ADO.NET Entity Data Model to my .Net Forms C# web project, I am unable to use it. Perhaps I made a mistake adding it? The name of the file added is QcFormData.edmx. In my code, perhaps I'm instantiating it incorrectly? I tried adding the line: QcFormDataContainer db = new QcFormDataContainer(); It appears in Intellisense, but when compiling I get the error : Error 13 The type or namespace name 'QcFormDataContainer' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I've followed the suggestions that I found online that did not help: 1) made sure there is "using System.Data.Entity" 2) made sure the dll exists. 3) made sure the reference exists. 4) one post said use using System.Web.Data.Entity; but I do not see that available. What am I missing?     If I want to know if an object has a particular property I can code this: if (SomeObject.hasOwnProperty('xyz')) { // some code } But some styles masquerade as properties at design time such as Button.color... How can I know what style properties are valid at runtime? ie: What is the equivalent of hasOwnProperty for getStyle/setStyle? In other words how can I know if an object HAS A particular style variable... When I write: MyButton.setStyle('qsfgaeWT','-33'); It won't accomplish anything, but it also doesn't error. How can I know programmatically that 'qsfgaeWT' is NOT a valid style of 'Button'??

There might be 100,000 records each month so this will become more slow as time will pass. Does splitting data into two table will solve the problem? What other indexes should be there?

  • PHP Serialization Will not work correctly.

    Hi, I am developing and doing all the testing on a local machine using PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1 version. The host machine is PHP Version 5.2.15. All the seriliaze arguments are identical. The problems is when i try to login the user on my test local machine i do the following : $user->getByUserId($results['id'],$db); $_SESSION['user'] = serialize($user); which retrieved me and serialize the user. and i just load it back when ever i detect that a session exists $user->LoadFromObject(unserialize($_SESSION['user'])); This works perfectly on my test machine. Just transfered the files on the host to see if i can get a beta version out but i keep on getting Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/gamerent/public_html/beta/includes/header.php on line 19 i have noticed that if i echo the $_SESSION['user'] in both system the test will indeed display me the serializated one but the main one will just show me the object and will not serialize the $user

  • Trappings MySQL Warnings on Calls Wrapped in Classes -- Python

    I can't get Python's try/else blocks to catch MySQL warnings when the execution statements are wrapped in classes. I have a class that has as a MySQL connection object as an attribute, a MySQL cursor object as another, and a method that run queries through that cursor object. The cursor is itself wrapped in a class. These seem to run queries properly, but the MySQL warnings they generate are not caught as exceptions in a try/else block. Why don't the try/else blocks catch the warnings? How would I revise the classes or method calls to catch the warnings? Also, I've looked through the prominent sources and can't find a discussion that helps me understand this. I'd appreciate any reference that explains this. Please see code below. I have heard that I can configure the Vim editor to be able to go from object to the definition from function to the definition from class name to the definition Do we have any professional Vim-er that could tell me how exactly to configure Vim for that?     Hi. I have a question regarding locking in TSQL. Suppose I have a the following table: A(int id, varchar name), where id is the primary key, but is NOT an identity column. I want to use the following pseudocode to insert a value into this table: lock (A) uniqueID = GenerateUniqueID() insert into A values (uniqueID, somename) unlock(A) How can this be accomplished in terms of TSQL? The computation of the next id should be done with the table A locked in order to avoid other sessions to do the same operation at the same time and get the same id.

  • DAO design pattern and using it across multiple tables

    I'm looking for feedback on the Data Access Object design pattern and using it when you have to access data across multiple tables. It seems like that pattern, which has a DAO for each table along with a Data Transfer Object (DTO) that represents a single row, isn't too useful for when dealing with data from multiple tables. I was thinking about creating a composite DAO and corresponding DTO that would return the result of, let's say performing a join on two tables. This way I can use SQL to grab all the data instead of first grabbing data from one using one DAO and than the second table using the second DAO, and than composing them together in Java. Is there a better solution? And no, I'm not able to move to Hibernate or another ORM tool at the moment. Just straight JDBC for this project.
