  First off, my application currently defines anyDensity=false in the manifest file. Elsewhere in the app, I'm trying to capture and display a View's DrawingCache but I'm not able to get a clear Bitmap without scaling artifacts. The code below yields a Bitmap but it has scaling artifacts and is generally fuzzy. myView.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true); Bitmap myBitmap = Bitmap.Create(myView.getDrawingCache()); myImageView.setImageBitmap(myBitmap); As I read it, the documentation for getDrawingCache says this is to be expected and to use getDrawingCache(true).   So I have a TimerTask task calling a function onTimerComplete() in its run() onTimerComplete() looks something like this: private void onTimerComplete(){ myFunc1(); myFunc2(); } I make a Timer t and I schedule the TimerTask with t.schedule(task, 2000); The problem is, when the timer is up and the task runs my onTimerComplete() but that function does not finish. It runs myFunc1() but never finishes it nor does it ever call myFunc2() However, if I call onTimerComplete() directly, everything works. What's the deal here?

  I'm setting out to create a settings activity for my app. I've defined a PreferenceActivity with a nice layout including a ListPreference object for the user to select a bluetooth device. I'm having trouble dynamically populating the list. I would like to populate ListPreference with values from an array adapter (which I'll create and populate with relevant bluetooth device names). If this were a spinner View, I could just call setAdapter(). However with the ListPreference object I can't figure out how to attach an adapter (findviewByID won't cast from View To ListPreference, so I can't even get a handle to the object). I would like to attach an adapter and then populate the adapter with values, which in turn would populate the ListPreference with values.

  I'm trying to implement paging in a custom ListAdapter. Right now I'm just making the request for the next page when the last item in the ListView becomes visible, by checking in getView() if position is >= the size of ListAdapter.getCount(). It works fine, but I'm wondering if there's a better way (or a different way) that will only make the request once the last item in the list is actually visible to the user. Anyone know of a way?

  I'm having trouble with a WebView always filling the full screen and thus covering my tabs.   I am trying to do POST with HttpURLConnection(I need to use it this way, can't use HttpPost) and I'd like to add parameters to that connection such as post.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nvp)); where nvp = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); having some data stored in. I can't find a way how to add this ArrayList to my HttpURLConnection which is here: HttpsURLConnection https = (HttpsURLConnection) url.openConnection(); https.setHostnameVerifier(DO_NOT_VERIFY); http = https; http.setRequestMethod("POST"); http.setDoInput(true); http.setDoOutput(true); the reason for that awkward https and http combination is the need for not verifying the certificate. That is not a problem, though, it posts. But I need it to post with arguments. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

• Mapview getLatitudeSpan and getLongitudeSpan not working

  Hi! Sometimes when trying to get the Latitude span or Longitude span of a mapview with getLatitudeSpan() and getLongitudeSpan() I get 0 and 360*1E6 respectively. This doesn't happen always but it is a problem, has anybody got this problem? Any workarounds? I tried using getProjection() too but I get the same problem.   I have a PreferenceActivity with a bunch of (Sub)PreferenceScreens. Each such (Sub)PreferenceScreen represents an account and has the account-username as its title. PreferenceScreen root = mgr.createPreferenceScreen(this); for (MyAccountClass account : myAccounts) { final PreferenceScreen accScreen = mgr.createPreferenceScreen(this); accScreen.setTitle(account.getUsername()); // add Preferences to the accScreen // (for instance a "change username"-preference) ... root.add(accScreen); } As the user enters sub-PreferenceScreen, and edits the account user-name, I want the outer PreferenceScreen to update it's PreferenceScreen-title for the account in question. I've tried to add... usernamePref.setOnPreferenceChangeListener(new OnPreferenceChangeListener() { public boolean onPreferenceChange(Preference preference, Object newValue) { accScreen.setTitle(newValue.toString()); return true; } }); ...but the accScreen.setTitle does not seem to take effect on the outer PreferenceScreen. I've note that calling onContentChanged(); actually makes it work, but I realize that this is probably not the preferred way of doing it. I suspect I should call postInvalidate() on some view somewhere, but I really can't figure out on what view and when to do it. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2396153/preferencescreen-androidsummary-update may be experiening the same problem as me.   Hi all, On my activity, im getting some big data from web, and while getting this data i want to show the user a ProgressDialog with spinning wheel. That i can do only with putting this code into a thread, right ? the problem is that after im getting this data i need to insert it into my tableLayout as TableRows and it seems impossible to access the TableLayout from the thread. What can i do to show this progress dialog and to be able access the table layout from the thread ?? Is there any event that happens on the end of the thread ?   Am trying to use OsmDroid with MapQuest maps downloaded from Mobile Atlas Creator. • Background image for list view still shows white behind text for cells.

  I wanted to put a background image partially visible behind a list view. I created a list view in my nib with an image view behind it and made the list view background 20% opacity. This allows the background image to show thru but my text in the cells show a white background behind and if I create the cells in cellForRowAtIndexPath the cells have a white background too. I am creating and setting the cell textLabel and the detailTextLabel in the cellForRowAtIndexPath event. Not sure how to get rid of that, or if there is a better way to do the background image.
