  • How to begin with augmented reality?

    - by Terri
    I'm currently an undergrad in computer science and I'll be entering my final year next year. Augmented reality is something I find to be a really interesting topic, but I have no idea where to start learning about it. Where do you start learning about this topic and what libraries are available?

  • Removing specific QueryStrings

    - by iTayb
    Let's assume an aspx page gets multiple querystrings, for example books.aspx?author=Arthor&level=4&year=2004. I'd like to create a button that clears specific querystrings. For example when clearAuthorBtn is clicked, user should be redirected to books.aspx?level=4&year=2004 How can I make it? Thank you very much.

  • Datetime Format Setting In SSRS

    - by Amit
    We have a requirement where date time values would be passed to the report parameter which is of "String" date type (and not "DateTime"). The report parameter would be a queried one i.e. it would have a list of values in which the passed value should fall in. The strange part is that if the date time value passed to this parameter is passed in this format mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss AM/PM then only it succeeds otherwise a error is displayed (If month/date/hour/minute/second is having a single digit value then we need to pass single digit value to parameter as well). Assuming that the report server picks this format from the "regional settings" in control panel, we tried modifying the date & time formats as yyyy-mm-dd & HH:mm:ss but the outcome was the same. On researching more I found some suggestions specifying to change the language property in the rdl (I was not able to figure out how) but this would not be the solution I am looking for. I also found another topic here but it didn't provide the solution but it didn't provide the solution we are looking for. I need to understand on if this format is controlled by the report server & is it configurable. It would be great if someone can provide some guidance. Thanks.

  • Rails date select options?

    - by Danny McClelland
    Hi Everyone, I have a date_select field in my rails application as follows: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed %> I would like to re-order the drop down lists show they output as: DD/MM/YYYY According to what I have read you can use the :order option, but I am unsure how to actually use this option: <%= f.date_select :dateinstructed, :order = {:day, :month, :year} %> Obviously this isn't right, but what am I supposed to put in place of the: :day, :month, :year Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Danny

  • Problem with logicalOR ( regex ) not greedy

    - by Marin Doric
    This is the part of a string "21xy5". I want to insert " * " surrounded with whitespace between: digit and letter, letter and digit, letter and letter. I use this regex pattern "\d[a-z]|[a-z]\d|[a-z][a-z]" to find indexs where I gona insert string " * ". Problem is that when regex OR(|) in string 21xy5 trays to match 21-x|x-y|y-5, when first condition 21-x success, second x-y is not checked, and third success. So I have 21 * xy * 5 instead 21 * x * y * 5. If input string is like this xy21, then x-y success and then I have x * y21. Problem is that logical OR is not greedy. Regex reg = new Regex(@"\d[a-z]|[a-z]\d|[a-z][a-z]" ); MatchCollection matchC; matchC = reg.Matches(input); int ii = 1; foreach (Match element in matchC) { input = input.Insert(element.Index + ii, " * "); ii += 3; } return input;

  • How many files in a directory is too many?

    - by Kip
    Does it matter how many files I keep in a single directory? If so, how many files in a directory is too many, and what are the impacts of having too many files? (This is on a Linux server.) Background: I have a photo album website, and every image uploaded is renamed to an 8-hex-digit id (say, a58f375c.jpg). This is to avoid filename conflicts (if lots of "IMG0001.JPG" files are uploaded, for example). The original filename and any useful metadata is stored in a database. Right now, I have somewhere around 1500 files in the images directory. This makes listing the files in the directory (through FTP or SSH client) take a few seconds. But I can't see that it has any affect other than that. In particular, there doesn't seem to be any impact on how quickly an image file is served to the user. I've thought about reducing the number of images by making 16 subdirectories: 0-9 and a-f. Then I'd move the images into the subdirectories based on what the first hex digit of the filename was. But I'm not sure that there's any reason to do so except for the occasional listing of the directory through FTP/SSH.

  • Regex for date.

    - by Harikrishna
    What should be the regex for matching date of any format like 26FEB2009 30 Jul 2009 27 Mar 2008 29/05/2008 27 Aug 2009 What should be the regular expression for that ? Edit I have regex that matches with 26-Feb-2009 and 26 FEB 2009 with but not with 26FEB2009. So if any one know then please update it. (?:^|[^\d\w:])(?'day'\d{1,2})(?:-?st\s+|-?th\s+|-?rd\s+|-?nd\s+|-|\s+)(?'month'Jan|Feb|Mar|Apr|May|Jun|Jul|Aug|Sep|Oct|Nov|Dec)[uarychilestmbro]*(?:\s*,?\s*|-)(?:'?(?'year'\d{2})|(?'year'\d{4}))(?=$|[^\d\w])

  • Parsec: backtracking not working

    - by Nathan Sanders
    I am trying to parse F# type syntax. I started writing an [F]Parsec grammar and ran into problems, so I simplified the grammar down to this: type ::= identifier | type -> type identifier ::= [A-Za-z0-9.`]+ After running into problems with FParsec, I switched to Parsec, since I have a full chapter of a book dedicated to explaining it. My code for this grammar is typeP = choice [identP, arrowP] identP = do id <- many1 (digit <|> letter <|> char '.' <|> char '`') -- more complicated code here later return id arrowP = do domain <- typeP string "->" range <- typeP return $ "("++domain++" -> "++range++")" run = parse (do t <- typeP eof return t) "F# type syntax" The problem is that Parsec doesn't backtrack by default, so > run "int" Right "int" -- works! > run "int->int" Left "F# type syntax" unexpected "-" expecting digit, letter, ".", "`" or end of input -- doesn't work! The first thing I tried was to reorder typeP: typeP = choice [arrowP, identP] But this just stack overflows because the grammar is left-recursive--typeP never gets to trying identP because it keeps trying arrowP over and over. Next I tried try in various places, for example: typeP = choice [try identP, arrowP] But nothing I do seems to change the basic behaviours of (1) stack overflow or (2) non-recognition of "-" following an identifier. My mistake is probably obvious to anybody who has successfully written a Parsec grammar. Can somebody point it out?

  • What does N years of experience with a language really mean?

    - by marcgg
    I've been looking at jobs descriptions since I'm graduating soon and looking for a job and what's always coming back - I'm not teaching you anything - is the "N years of experience in this language". It has been discussed in this question that if you work professionally with let's say Ruby for 2 years, but during these two years you also did some C# and PHP and were actually coding in Ruby 50% of the time. Do you say you have 1 year of experience in Ruby? 2 years? Another issue that hasn't been reviewed in the other post is for "non-professional experience". I'll give you a personal example: I've been working with Ruby on Rails since 2004 while at school. I did a lot of personal projects and school projects using this technology. I also used Rails in 2 6-month internships. Do I have 5 years of Rails experience (2004-now)? Do I have 1 year(2 internships)? Do I have nothing? I feel like I don't deserve the credit for 5 years, because the first years I wasn't working a lot with rails, but since last year I launched some websites and invested myself a lot in this technology and just saying 1 year doesn't really reflect how much I know the technology... Another example: I Learned C++ at school and did 1 big project with it (2-3 month of work and a semester of classes). I never used it in a company but I'd be able to be productive fairly quickly if I had to work on a C++ project and I have a good grasp of the concepts. Do I have no experience? 3 months? 6 months? ... something else? What I'm really trying to do is to find a way to present my skill set in a way that is compliant to what recruiters expect. I also don't want to end up at an interview that would go something like this... Recruiter (finding out the horrible truth): Oh but you said that you had 2 years of experience with this when you have none! / slaps me in the face / Me (in pain): Oh! The irony! Recruiter (yelling): Get out of my office / calls security, punches me in the throat /

  • Holiday Book Recommendation

    - by dalton
    I'm after a book to read whilst on holiday. Some criteria: The book has to be relatively short. < 500 pages. I'd prefer a book that changes your thinking, rather than reams of syntax to look at. So the last two years here have been my books: Last year, The Craftsman by Richard Sennet (Changed how I viewed career development, quality) Year before, Zen and The art of motorcycle maintenance (Makes you think about quality, maintenance)

  • Can't read some attributes with SAX

    - by akappa
    Hi all, I'm trying to parse that document with SAX: <scxml version="1.0" initialstate="start" name="calc"> <datamodel> <data id="expr" expr="0" /> <data id="res" expr="0" /> </datamodel> <state id="start"> <transition event="OPER" target="opEntered" /> <transition event="DIGIT" target="operand" /> </state> <state id="operand"> <transition event="OPER" target="opEntered" /> <transition event="DIGIT" /> </state> </scxml> I read all the attributes well, except "initialstate" and "name"... I get the attributes with the startElement handler, but the size of the attribute list for scxml is zero. Why? How I can overcome that problem? Edit: public void startElement(String uri, String localName, String qName, Attributes attributes){ System.out.println(attributes.getValue("initialstate")); System.out.println(attributes.getValue("name")); } that, when parsing the first tag, doesn't work (prints "null" two times). In fact, attributes.getLength(); evaluates to zero. Thanks

  • jQuery datepicker years shown

    - by John Boker
    With the jQuery datepicker, how does one change the year range that is displayed? On the jQuery UI site it says the default is "10 years before and after the current year are shown". I want to use this for a birthday selection and 10 years before today is no good. Can this be done with the jQuery datepicker or will I have to use a different solution? link to datepicker demo: http://ui.jquery.com/repository/latest/demos/functional/#ui.datepicker

  • How do You Center a TextView in Layout?

    - by Ken
    I have a complex layout, part of which features a value centered over a label, with + and - buttons on either side of the value. I want the value to center between the buttons, whether it is "1" or "99". It looks fine when it's a 2-digit number like "99", but when it's a single digit the number is left-justified. How do I properly center that value? Here's the portion of my layout that does this: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_above="@id/runway_label" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:orientation="horizontal"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/dec_runway_button" android:src="@drawable/minus_button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/runway_value" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:textStyle="bold" android:textSize="40.0sp" android:minWidth="50sp" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:layout_gravity="center" android:shadowColor="#333333" android:shadowDx="2.0" android:shadowDy="2.0" android:shadowRadius="3.0" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/inc_runway_button" android:src="@drawable/plus_button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical"/> </LinearLayout>

    What if I want to do something with my formset other than immediately saving it? How can I do this? for form in vehicles_formset.forms: listing.id = None listing.vehicle_year = form.cleaned_data['year'] listing.vehicle_make = form.cleaned_data['make'] listing.vehicle_model = form.cleaned_data['model'] listing.vin = form.cleaned_data['vin'] listing.vehicle_runs = form.cleaned_data['runs'] listing.vehicle_convertible = form.cleaned_data['convertible'] listing.vehicle_modified = form.cleaned_data['modified'] listing.save() (Thus creating multiple listings) Apparently cleaned_data does not exist. There's a bunch of stuff in the data dict like form-0-year but it's pretty useless to me like that.
