• postgresql deleteing old records from log tables

  I have a postgresql database which stores my radius connection information. What I want to do is only store a months worth of logs. How would I craft a sql statement that I can run from cron that would go and delete and rows that where older then a month? The old router is 10.0.32.1, our company wanted to implement a squid proxy to better monitor web traffic while at work, and if necessary block large time-wasters, IE Facebook.com. However, we've quickly realized that this change has played a mean prank on our Polycom SIP Phones. Occasionally our phones will not ring, the end recipient hears ringing (this is artificially created by our PBX) however the handset never rings. The ONLY thing that has changed in our network is the option routers line. So, Since all Polycom MAC addresses begin with 00:04:F2 would it be possible in DHCP to say any 00:04:F2:::* MAC addresses get option routers 10.0.32.1, and anything else must talk with our Gateway?

  Hi! I happen to run into various problems regarding grub and kernels. I don't really care about the kernel internas. All I want is VMware server in that dedicated root-server. 1.) Does anybody know what magical trick there is to get the 2.6.32-5 booting? 2.) I thought t follow the Deban wiki.. I cannot get header-files for the installed 35.6 or 33.2 kernel in the repositories. I cannot build foreign headers because they will not match the running kernel. So how does one deal with that situtation? I'd prefer not to have to downgrade the kernel. Thanks for any answers!

• Error during Time Machine backups on OS X Lion

  After I turn on my machine, the first couple of Time Machine backups seem to go OK, but after about an hour I get this error: Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder. Latest successful backup: 7/31/11 at 12:32 PM I'm running 10.7. Time Machine is backing up an internal HD to an external USB HD. I've already run Disk Utility to repair the Time Machine partition. It's a relatively new hard drive and didn't have any issues. • Issue with kernel boot [OVH SERVER]

  Trying to install OpenVZ kernel on Centos 6.3, Yes my kernel is installed i can see it in the /boot folder, yes it is Rhel6 and yes it is all up to date, i checked this with yum update. My issue comes when i reboot my server with that kernel set as the default, it doesn't load, below i shall put a copy of my grub.conf file and my menu.lst file. • STM32 I2C1 Start bit not set on SR1 register

  Hi guys, I am trying to program the stm32 to talk to my i2c EEprom, but it seems like everytime I say: I2C_GenerateSTART(I2C1, ENABLE); while( !(I2C_CheckEvent(I2C1, I2C_EVENT_MASTER_MODE_SELECT)) ); the code hangs here I went through with the debugger and I found that the SR1 bit 0 flag (which is the start bit generated flag) is not set which is why the code hangs. I can see in the oscilloscope that the start bit was generated and this works sometimes. it usually breaks when I tried to do several writes in a row. I checked the HW is everything looks fine I checked the frequency that I am running on the i2c bus it is 100Khz well within the 24lc1025 eeprom. any ideas, thanks

• What is the bit size of long on 64-bit Windows?

  Not to long ago someone told me that long are not 64 bits on 64 bit machines and i should always use int. This did not make sense to me. I seen docs (such as the one on apples official site) say that long are indeed 64 bits when compiling for a 64bit CPU. I looked up what it was on windows and found Windows: long and int remain 32-bit in length, and special new data types are defined for 64-bit integers. from http://www.intel.com/cd/ids/developer/asmo-na/eng/197664.htm?page=2 What should i use? should i define something like uw, sw ((un)signed width) as a long if not on windows. Otherwise do a check on the target CPU bitsize?

  Are pointers on a 64-bit system still 4 byte aligned (similar to a double on a 32 bit system)? Or are they note 8 byte aligned? For example, on a 64-bit system how big is the following data structure: struct a { void* ptr; char myChar; } Would the pointer by 8 byte aligned, causing 7 bytes of padding for the character (total = 8 + 8 = 16)? Or would the pointer be 4 byte aligned (4 bytes + 4 bytes) causing 3 bytes of padding (total = 4 + 4 + 4 = 12)? Thanks, Ryan

  In F#, there's the NativePtr module, but it seems to only support 32 bit offsets for its’ add/get/set functions, just like System.IntPtr does. Is there a way to add a 64 bit offset to a native pointer (nativeptr<'a) in F#? Of course I could convert all addresses to 64 bit integers, do normal integer operations and then convert the result again to nativeptr<'a, but this would cost additional add and imul instructions. I really want the AGUs to perform the address calculations. For instance, using unsafe in C# you could do something like void* ptr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(...).ToPointer(); int64 offset = ...; T* newAddr = (T*)ptr + offset; // T has to be an unmanaged type Well actually you can't, because there is no "unmanaged" constraint for type parameters, but at least you can do general pointer arithmetic in a non-generic way. In F# we finally got the unmanaged constraint; but how do I do the pointer arithmetic?

  Setting up a new 64 bit RHEL 6 server with ext4 FS. Have only worked with ext3 and 32bit RHEL5 before. No matter what I try, I cannot get it to work. • Windows7 and Virtual PC guest copy/paste intermittent delay

  I've been using Virtual PC for some time now and have not had any issues with copy and paste until I upgraded my host to Windows7 64-bit. After the upgrade sometimes when I copy and paste some text there is like a 15-20 second delay before it completes, this is very frustrating when I'm trying to get my work done. The problem seems to be intermittent in nature, it seems to occur when I have not done a copy paste for a while. After the delay occurs copy and paste seem to work at normal speed until I don't copy and paste for a good length of time. My question is, is there any solutions or patches that can fix this copy/paste issue for virtual PC running in a 64-bit windows7 host?

• BSOD Before Windows Will Loads - Graphics Related

  Alright deep breath here: (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit btw) Today I installed Star Craft 2 Beta. After trying to log in, it had some issues where it said my device stopped working (referring to my video device I have to imagine). After I force quit the game there were some random "hot" (various colors if i remember correctly) pixels on the screen. I decided to reboot and try again with similar results. I figured that maybe my display drivers could stand to be updated (I don't frequently update them as I don't often run into problems). I went out to nVidia's website and grabbed the latest drivers for Windows 7 64 bit GeForce 9 series. (I have SLi-ed 9800 GTs). Everything seemed to install fine and I performed the restart. This is when things went from bad (can't play SC2 beta ;) ) to worse (can't boot into windows!). Initially the very first splash screen - I think it's the bios splash screen - had lines of colored pixels covering it. It then displayed a screen that had lots of "(" on it. After that it showed the normal windows 7 splash screen as if it were going to load into Windows. Before getting much further, it BSODed on me. It was a 0x0000003B stop error. At nvlddmkm.sys. A little digging let verified that this was a problem with an nVidia graphics device, not a real shocker. Windows decided it would try to help me diagnose the problem, which it's only answer to was a System Restore, which did nothing to alleviate the problem. I was able to boot up fine in safe mode and was not able to roll back the driver, however I did uninstall the driver and reboot. I still had the graphical anomalies during the first two screens (same colored "."'s and weird "("'s), but there was NOT a stop error. Windows loaded up, found a default driver for the device and installed it and I restarted to let it load - and had yet another BSOD Stop error. Repeat driver uninstall, this time I reloaded the same version (I think it's possible that I was running a 32 bit version or a vista versus windows 7 version, but I don't have that information handy) of the nVidia driver from their website. Restart, same anomalies, same Stop Error. I am at a loss - At this point all I can think is that the firmware for the Video cards got fried or there's actual damage to the cards which I sincerely hope is not the case but the sooner I know the better. Any insight into what I might be able to do to troubleshoot/fix this problem would be most helpful. Attached below is a dump from DxDiag. • Can you use SQLite 64 bit odbc from powershell

  Basically, my question is "Does this combo work for anyone," and, "Can you see what I am doing wrong" I have installed 64 bit ODBC driver for sqlite, downloaded from this page. I am running powershell version 2 on window 7. In ODBC configuration I create a system DSN with name LoveBoat, pointing at a valid file. I don't have any "real" apps to test whether the ODBC connection works, but a simple program I list below works. • SQL Server 2008 to Sybase Linked Server (x64) -- Provider and permissions issues

  Good morning, We're testing a new SQL Server 2008 setup (64-bit) and one of our requirements was to get a linked server up and talking to a Sybase database. We've successfully done so using Sybase's 64-bit 15.5 drivers, however I can't expand the catalog list from a remote machine (connecting to the '08 box with SSMS) without having my network account being added as an Administrator on the actual box and then using Windows Authentication to connect to the server instance. This is going to be problematic when we go live. Has anybody experienced this, or have any input on the permissions in SQL Server 2008 with regards to linked servers? If I remove my network account from the Administrators group, the big error I'm getting is a 'Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 41' with a description something like "Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "ASEOLEDB" for linked server "", and all research points to permissions issues. Thoughts? This document talks about DCOM configuration and permissions, but we've tried all of it with no luck. Thanks

  Hi all, I just booted up my Samsung N120 netbook (with Windows XP Home SP3) and a dialog box came up with a command prompt window behind it. The dialog box is titled 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem and the message is as follows: C:\DOCUME~1\SAMSUNG\csrss.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0544 IP:0117 OP:63 00 64 00 34 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. This only started on my most recent boot-up. One thing to note is that when I downloaded the Dropbox installer and opened it up, Panda Cloud Antivirus detected a suspicious file, which was csrss.exe and "neutralized it." However, an actual virus or trojan was not detected immediately before the file was detected and neutralized. Just under two weeks ago, a trojan and two viruses were detected for some odd reason. (I only went to website I knew and I do not torrent or browse adult sites.) Anyhow, the two viruses came up in temporary files and the trojan was "neutralized." Anyways, the main question is: How can I repair the csrss.exe file such that Windows XP starts up properly? A screenshot could be posted upon request. Thanks in advance!

• Good scanner to buy as of January 2010

  I'm planning to buy a scanner soon and since I didn't purchased one in years I wanted to know which brand / models are the "best". The ability to scan negatives is a nice to have but not 100% required. If you are specifing a model in particular, plase note that it must work under 64-bit OS (I'm using Windows 7 Ulitmate 64-bit). I'm not looking for a all-in-one solution like scanner/fax/printer. I want to use this to scan "old" photos from the non-digital era :) And sometimes to scan magazines and books. I am located in Canada it would be nice if your suggestion is available here. I usually buy online at NCIX and DirectCanada if it can help you see what's available there. Edit: My search leaded me to 2 particular models. I hesitate between Canon CanoScan 8800F and Epson V600. Anyone have good/bad words on either of them?

• sound clipping in windows 7 64bit

  something is up with 64 bit version of windows 7. i have 2 (good pro-sumer) sound cards which i've used in other version of windows 7 w/out problems, but now it is causing severe clipping (noise, sound having little gaps surrounded by static).. the cards i am using is echo mia, and native instruments audio kontrol 1. the audio kontrol 1 is a external card, and would work ok for a few hours after rebooting, and than it would go back into clipping mode, to the point where you tube videos would not play from trying to process sound and it stopping for extended periods of time. echo mia is performing better, but there is still some clipping and distortion. the machine i use is newly built, with i7 920 64 bit cpu, 6 gigs of ram and an outdated nvidia video card (geforece 7950 gx2)
