• Blocked port 25 on Windows 7 64 bit

  Strange problem. I have 2 computers connected to Wifi router. One with Windows Vista & second with 2 operating systems: SUSe Linux and Windows 7 64bit on it. Computer with Vista can connect to SMTP server of my email provider (and any other) using port 25, and can connect to a mail server using telnet mail.server.com 25 if this port is open. Computer with dual operating system can (using Linux) do the same. The same computer, with the same hardware (Wifi card etc.), and using the same WiFi router, cannot however use Port 25 and cannot Telnet into any smtp server. So the problem is in Windows 7. I did uninstall all antivirus software and disabled the firewall. The problem is still here. Is there way how find out which software is blocking this port?

• Can't get nmap to work under Windows 7 64 bit

  I'm trying to install and run the nmap tool to test my server, but it keeps saying Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -P0 and showing all the server ports are closed. Which is not true - the server is up and has lots of open ports. Any ideas? UPDATE: Just to clarify - the server can be pinged and port-scanned fine by other programs. It's juts nmap that does not work. Even "google.com" seems to be down for nmap.

• 64-bit Windows 7 gets stuck on logo screen on bootup

  I've had a PC running Windows 7 in my office which I'm not using at the moment (cause I'm working elsewhere as a consultant atm), I'm only accessing the PC using Team Viewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/) which means the PC has been running for quite some time now. I've restarted it maybe twice a week though. A few days ago I couldn't access it using Team Viewer and when I got to the office the screen was black with only the mouse pointer showing. The PC has four hard disks, three of them (all 1Tb) is using RAID 5. This is what I've done so far: I reboot and everything seems to load correctly. I get to a screen that gives me two choices - boot Windows normally or perform a startup repair. Choosing to boot Windows only gets me to the Windows 7 logo screen which only animates over and over again. Choosing to repair gets me to the repair screen that "checks for problems" and then it gets stuck on the "Attempting repairs..."-screen (I let it run for about 24 hours before giving up). What is the next step to take? I don't have any backups and no system restore points saved. I can access files and folders through a terminal window using a Windows 7 DVD so I guess nothing is lost yet... Please help me, thanks!

Facts: 30 Gb mysql database on remote server (about 20.000.000 rows) data are once weekly updated in local network (mysql) I need to transfer/replace local updated database with remote connection is about 2mb (real mb, not mbps) up/down Point is that I can't have 'down time' of remote mysql server. Until now I Tried: navicat data sync - Ok, but take about 3 days to finish dbForge - ok but need 5 days to finish mysql dump transfer to remote server and execution - about day, but a lot of downtime rsync folder with database /mysql/lib/MY_DATABASE - 4 hours, but after that I need to execute always 'repir on remote server' which takes about 2 hours, and a lot of down time mysql dump piped from cl to directly goto server - still now satisfied many problems I could give you more things that I tried... mysql replication - slow Anyase, what is best,best way to: refresh remote mysql on weekly level and in same time to have 0 sec down time nor huge server load If you have any idea please share

• Outlook 2013 Win 7 64 bit

  I am using Outlook 2013, and on some messages I can see the Other actions > View Source, but other messages I don't see it, I suspect somehow it has been disabled. Any suggestions as to how to see the source? I Tried adding a shortcut to this option to the Quick Bar list, on the messages in question, the shorcut disappears. I have also tried to alter registry, but I don't wnat to. I used to be able to right clight in the message to see the source, why is everything so hard now?

  I have a system where to the main server (homes, nfs, ntp, queue...) can log-in only root – all the other users use front-end host with NFS-mounted home directories (RW) and all other software directories (read-only). My problem is, that time to time, if root or normal user with sudo makes some administrative works on front-end some homes of normal users getting sticky bits (drwsr-sr-x). If it happens usually the user can't log-in (as long as permission for his home are not changed to drwxr-xr-x). The last time I saw it after compiling some new software (normal user configure;make) and installation from the same directory as root (su and make install or direct as normal user sudo make install). Can somebody explain me why it happens and what should I do to get rid of this problem? p.s. I'm using CentOS 5.7

• Windows 7 (64-bit) remove global hotkey created by unknown application

  As the titles says an unknown application that I've installed have registered a global hot-key for Alt+2 , or as this is a Finnish keyboard it's actually Alt Gr+2. As this is also the key combination for writing the @ symbol (I copy/pasted this one) you can imagine how frustrating it is. There doesn't seem to be a way to even list these global hot-keys in windows, let alone change them. Searching the net doesn't help much either, it just gives you a list of windows built-in hot-keys or references to AutoHotKey, which as far as I can tell can't solve this issue. I don't want to script/customize/modify anything, I just want to remove this global hot-key so I can start typing @ again.

• Can't boot into my Windows 7 64-bit Acer laptop

  Boot normally -- it hangs on "Starting Windows" animation forever. Boot safe mode -- it bluescreens. Boot with a recovery CD (or try Repair Installation directly without a CD) -- it hangs on the green loading bar forever. I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway. Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched. • windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) won't boot up, I've tried system repair startup

  I've been trying to get my computer to boot up in the last 2 hours. I've tried using the system repair at start up, but all that does is it sends me to a screen with the stock Windows background that is enlarged with a cursor on the screen. It's not frozen and I can move the cursor around, but there is nothing to click on. I've tried to get into Task Manager and such, but the shortcut doesn't work. I have no back ups of the OS as it came pre-installed on the computer. Is there anyway for me to get my computer to work (I don't mind starting fresh)? I do have access to another computer but it's my brothers and it has Windows XP (I'd like to keep my Windows 7).

• How do I free up more space in /boot?

  My /boot partition is nearly full and I get a warning every time I reboot my system. I already deleted old kernel packages (linux-headers...), actually I did that to install a newer kernel version that came with the automatic updates. After installing that new version, the partition is nearly full again. So what else can I delete? Are there some other files associated to the old kernel images?   I am trying to convert my color grading 2d lookup texture into 3d LUT. When I simply use: ColorAtlas.GetData(data); ColorAtlas3D.SetData(data); I get this: I tried building my 2d atlass horizontally but it did not helped - the data was messed up in a different way. So my question is how can I influence the order of the data I get from the 2d atlas and how can I properly pass it into my 3d atlas? Update: I know that I can GetData from a specific Rectangular area and put it into several arrays, but the result is still the same. • Keeping player aligned to grid in Pacman

  I am making a Pacman game using XNA. The game is tile based, with each tile being 32 pixels. As the player moves, I need to know whenever it is perfectly on a tile (ie position of 32, 64, etc...) so that I can check to see if the next tile is free. I am using the following logic to test this. if (position.X % 32 == 0 && position.Y %32 == 0) { onTile = true; } I figure that I need to make the player's speed evenly divide 32. Everything works fine if I make the player's speed an integer such as 4 or 8. But if I make the speed something like 6.4, I end up with positions such as 64.00001, and my if statement no longer works correctly. How can I keep the player aligned with the grid, while allowing a wider range of player speeds than 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32? Or is there some better way to go about this? Thanks

• ksoftirqd uses 100% cpu

  I am running 32bit Ubuntu 10.04. A lot of the times ksoftirqd/0 or ksoftirqd/1 start using up 100% CPU for no apparent reason, and I am forced to reboot my laptop. Incidentally this also happens when I maximize my (youtube) videos on Chrome and Fireox, but once I un-maximize the videos the CPU usage goes down to the original levels. Any ideas what it going on? --- Addendum --- dmesg produces a ~2000 line output.   I'm currently persisting filenames in a sqlite database for my own purposes. Whenever I try to insert a file that has a special character (like é etc.), it throws the following error: pysqlite2.dbapi2.ProgrammingError: You must not use 8-bit bytestrings unless you use a text_factory that can interpret 8-bit bytestrings (like text_factory = str). It is highly recommended that you instead just switch your application to Unicode strings. When I do "switch my application over to Unicode strings" by wrapping the value sent to pysqlite with the unicode method like: unicode(filename), it throws this error: UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 66: ordinal not in range(128) Is there something I can do to get rid of this? Modifying all of my files to conform isn't an option.

  If I have an integer that I'd like to perform bit manipulation on, how can I load it into a java.util.BitSet? How can I convert it back to an int or long? I'm not so concerned about the size of the BitSet -- it will always be 32 or 64 bits long. I'd just like to use the set(), clear(), nextSetBit(), and nextClearBit() methods rather than bitwise operators, but I can't find an easy way to initialize a bit set with a numeric type.

• NHibernate CreateSQLQuery data conversion from bit to boolean error

  Hi, Im being a bit lazy in NHibernate and using Session.CreateSqlQuery(...) instead of doing the whole thing with Lambda's. Anyway what struct me is that there seems to be a problem converting some of the types returned from (in this case the MySQL) DB into native .Net tyes. The query in question looks like this.... IList<Client> allocatableClients = Session.CreateSQLQuery( "select clients.id as Id, clients.name as Name, clients.customercode as CustomerCode, clients.superclient as SuperClient, clients.clienttypeid as ClientType " + ... ... .SetResultTransformer(new NHibernate.Transform.AliasToBeanResultTransformer(typeof(Client))).List<Client>(); The type in the database of SuperClient is a bit(1) and in the Client object the type is a bool. The error received is: System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.UInt64' cannot be converted to type 'System.Boolean'. It seems strange that this conversion cannot be completed.   Hi, The situation might sound a bit weird but I have to play with what I have. There's a Win2003 64-bit server OS and a legacy application written using Visual Studio 6. The app consists of two parts: ActiveX components written in VB6 and C++ code which uses them. I need to debug the components' code. I installed Visual Studio 6 on the server and I'm able to step into the component's code. Then I got following situation: 1) C++ code works until it needs to instantiate component A. 2) At this step we switch to VB6 and start debugging Component's A. 3) In the very beginning component A creates an instance of a class C exposed by component B. At this step VB6 debugger shows error message with title "OLEDB32.DLL" and following text: "Failed to load resource DLL C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB\OLEDB32R.DLL" Additional information: The last step in initialization of the class C is opening an ADO connection to SQL server using OLEDB provider. I'd appreciate any ideas on how resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.
