• How can I combine 30,000 images into a timelapse movie?

  I have taken 30,000 still images that I want to combine into a timelapse movie. I have tried QuickTime Pro, TimeLapse 3, and Windows Movie Maker, but with such a huge amount of images, each of the programs fail (I tried SUPER ©, but couldn't get it to work either...?). It seems that all of these programs crash after a few thousand pictures. The images I have are all in .JPG format, at a resolution of 1280x800, and I'm looking for a program that can put these images into a timelapse movie in some kind of lossless format (raw/uncompressed AVI would be fine) for further editing. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone tried anything like this with a similar number of pictures?

• Windows Network copy and access denied randomly

  I have a windows 2008 R2 server and I now installed a new bigger HDD into it. I wanted to copy big AVI files to the new server hdd what is shared on the local network. I have write access to the servers hdd and I can successfully copy smaller files to it. But when I copy bigger files more than 500MB randomly on the copy I get Access Deny message. If I use RDP I can copy files through RDP client. I checked error messages at the server but I didn't found any error about this access deny. Because of RDP copy works I don't think that this could be hardware error. I think this is some kind of software setting error. Someone has faced this kind of error? Or somebody has idea what could cause or how to find the root of the problem?

• Is there a good, free way to fix broken/corrupt .wmv files?

  I've recovered some files from an hdd that weren't supposed to be deleted in the first place, but they have seeking problems/crash the players. Since they have the right size, I'm thinking it might be a problem of corrupt index/header, so I'm trying to find a way to fix them. It's easy to find examples on how to fix corrupt .avi files with mencoder, but .wmv seems trickier. Also, I realize there might not be a way to fix these files, but I figure I might as well as try. As far as players go, I've tried opening it with vlc/mplayer/windows media player. I can use anything on Windows XP/7 and Ubuntu, as long as it's free. Since the files are 200mb+ and there are quite a few, I don't think trial software would work.

  Lets say, i want to restrict a file to my visitors. I mean , i have an xx.avi file to be streamed/downloaded, and the visitor paid me for the bandwidth and the size of the file. In amazon s3, i cant control the file at all .(there is a very basic control thing which is not ok for me) Only way is my server can proxy the file, like it fetches the file from amazon s3 storagenode and send it to the owner with authentication approval by a php script. But this way i would double up the bandwidth usage and again there would be latency problem since my server needs to get the file from amazon s3. So i was wondering if there is a better solution or any cloud storage service that lets us to control the file restriction to my visitors. Thanks

• Removing section in .sub file and renumber rest of lines?

  Here's the problem: An AVI file had a few seconds removed when it was ripped from a DVD, while its corresponding .sub subtitle file still contains the whole thing. So at around 2/3 into the movie, I need to remove the extra subtitles, and renumber the rest of the lines in the .sub files so that the remaining subtitles are displayed at the right time. I was hoping that SubTitle Workshop would be able to renumber the rest of the lines after I deleted the now-useless section, but it doesn't. What would be the easiest way to edit the sub file? • Time of splitting and encoding video with ffmpeg increases exponentially

  I'm trying to split video by subtitles and encode into .mp4(h.264/aac) using ffmpeg, but it takes so much time! First pieces of video are splited and encoded really fast, but for each iteration time increases, and so 40 min video takes all night or more. Small 3 min video takes max 10 mins. cmd for splitting and encoding: ffmpeg -i filename.avi -ss 00:00:0(time of sub start) -t 0:0:3(time of sub duration) -acodec libfaac -vcodec libx264 -bf 0 -f mp4 filename.mp4 ffmpeg version N-34849-g07c7ffc (last, i think) How I can make it faster? Are there, maybe, some magic arguments for ffmpeg or some hacks?

• Creating video with audio and still image for YouTube

  I'm running the following command: ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -ar 44100 -f image2 -i logo.jpg -r 15 -b 1800 -s 640x480 foo.mov Which successfully outputs a video with my recorded audio and an image on it. When I try and upload this to YouTube it fails to process, regardless of the formats I try: .mov, .avi, .flv, .mp4 Is there some setting I'm missing in the above that would generate a format Youtube will accept? I've tried looking through the ffmpeg documentation but I'm in over my head. I did an experiment by putting a 2 second video with a 30 second mp3. When I uploaded to youtube, the resulting video was only 2 seconds long. So it may be that YouTube looks only to the video track for the length, and since a picture is only a frame long or whatever, maybe that borks it.

• ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

  Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed. • Unable to Access Localhost after starting Xampp

  OS: Windows XP Professional, SP 2. Few days back i had xampplite 1.7.1 installed and was able to access localhost and phpmyadmin through browser...... Today it suddenly stopped working. In firefox after i type http://localhost/ nothing happens, just blank white screen. I removed all the files in xampplite folders and re-installed ver 1.7.1 again, it's of no use. Then i installed xampplite 1.7.2 (latest), which i had downloaded from xampp website, again it's of no use. Apache and MySql are running though. I tried using locally installing wordpress, as i have a theme ready and want to convert that design to wordpress, test it and start using it online. • Problem with cvCreateVideoWriter in OpenCv. Again )

  I know, that the issue had been widely discussed before, but after 5 hours of inefficient googling I guess I deserve to ask :) By the way, all such problems concerned earlier versions of OpenCV, so.. I've compiled fresh OpenCV 2.1. from source under Ubuntu 9.10. It works fine except of cvCreateVideoWriter, which returns null to the following request: CvVideoWriter *writer = cvCreateVideoWriter("video.avi", CV_FOURCC('M','J','P','G'), fps, size, 0); I've walked through the OpenCv folders - it even seems to have ffmpeg inside. I've also installed it on the system to make sure. I've changed CV_FOURCC('M','J','P','G') to -1 - all worthless. I would appreciate your help soo much! P.S. I've also explored some new way for writing videos here: http://opencv.willowgarage.com/documentation/cpp/reading_and_writing_images_and_video.html#videowriter But it fails to work as well, showing the mistake: error: no match for ‘operator>>’ in ‘writer >> frame’ My code is here: http://pastie.org/984734

  I need a blob file field as part of a content type in plone. plone.app.blob's BlobField should provide this, but I can't find how to get a URL to download the file including the original filename (e.g. http://plone.site/plone/obj/orig-file-name.avi). Is there a way to do this using plone.app.blob? Alternately, there are a few pointers on the web pointing to plone.namedfile to do this. plone.namedfile seems to rely on z3c.blobfile. How does z3c.blobfile differ from plone.app.blob? Is one of these methods better than the other? vik

  In our project we want to query a document management system for a specific document or movie. The dms returns a URL with the document location (for example: http://mydomain.myserver1.share/mypdf.pdf or http://mydomain.myserver2.share/mymovie.avi). We want to expose the document to internet users and intranet users. The requested file can be large (large video files). Our architecture is like: request goes like: webapp1 - webapp2 - webapp3 - dms response goes like: dms - webapp3 - webapp2 - webapp1 webapp1 could be on the internet. I have have been thinking how we can obfusicate the real url from the dms, due to security issues. I have seen implementations from other webapps where the pdf URL was obfusicated by creating a temp file for the requested document that is specific for the session and user. So other users cannot easily guess the documentname of other users. My question: is there a pattern that deals with exposing company/user vulernable data to the public ? Our development is in C# 3.5.

It is working for few videos while for some other it is throwing IDispatch error #24 (0x80040218) and error type as Fatal. I am using Qt4.4 in windows XP and has backend support as well. I have to play those videos which are throwing the above mentioned error. What might be the reason and how i can overcome the error?

• Programmatically generate video or animated GIF in Python?

  I have a series of images that I want to create a video from. Ideally I could specify a frame duration for each frame but a fixed frame rate would be fine too. I'm doing this in wxPython, so I can render to a wxDC or I can save the images to files, like PNG. Is there a Python library that will allow me to create either a video (AVI, MPG, etc) or an animated GIF from these frames? Edit: I've already tried PIL and it doesn't seem to work. Can someone correct me with this conclusion or suggest another toolkit? I suspect there is a better way (maybe with the ffmpeg library), but scripting is what I know and ffmpeg generally works.   I am using the Expression Encoder SDK to encode .avi and Flash files to a .wmv format suitable for Silverlight. By default, EE encodes files with audio using the the WMA PRO codec. If you are running Windows Server 2003, this is a problem as it doesn't support the WMA PRO codec and produces and error message similar to the following. Error Message: The Audio Profile settings do not match a valid system profile. Error Source: Microsoft.Expression.Encoder Error Target Site: System.String GetProfileString() I am looking for a way to change the default audio codec to something suitable for WS 2003. I am aware that although not supported natively, there is a highly invasive way to install Windows Media Player 11 and it's codecs on WS 2003 but this involves registry tinkering and other hacks not suitable for our production environments so that solution is out.

In the US its the NTSC standard with 720x480 and 29.97 fps. When I don't want to generate a DVD but a plain video file, e.g. WMV oder AVI what framerate is used in USA? I have a end user application where the user can generate videos, so what framerate does the US user expect it to have? Is there a difference in SD and HD video?
