  • Dual Boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu

    - by Nick
    My laptop has two hard drives, one 320GB HDD and a 30GB SSD. I installed Windows 8 on the HDD and Ubuntu on the SSD. However, after I installed Ubuntu, Windows 8 did not appear on the boot list. I tried boot-repair, but this didn't help.Here is the output of my fdisk -l: Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x6cd9314a Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 625139711 312568832 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT Disk /dev/sdb: 30.0 GB, 30016659456 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3649 cylinders, total 58626288 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x6cd93132 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 2048 207126 102539+ 83 Linux /dev/sdb2 208894 58626047 29208577 5 Extended /dev/sdb5 208896 4112383 1951744 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sdb6 4114432 58626047 27255808 83 Linux Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 3965 MB, 3965190144 bytes 49 heads, 48 sectors/track, 3292 cylinders, total 7744512 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0009c694 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/mmcblk0p1 * 8192 7744511 3868160 b W95 FAT32 I also tried sudo grub-update, but that also did nothing.

  • Importing .dll into Qt

    - by Bad Man
I want to bring a .dll dependency into my Qt project. So I added this to my .pro file: win32 { LIBS += C:\lib\dependency.lib LIBS += C:\lib\dependency.dll } And then (I don't know if this is the right syntax or not) #include <windows.h> Q_DECL_IMPORT int WINAPI DoSomething(); btw the .dll looks something like this: #include <windows.h> BOOL APIENTRY DllMain(HANDLE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved) { return TRUE; } extern "C" { int WINAPI DoSomething() { return -1; } }; Getting error: unresolved symbol? Note: I'm not experienced with .dll's outside of .NET's ez pz assembly architechture, definitely a n00b.

  • Trying to issue a mouseclick event on a QWebElement in QWebView QtWebKit

    - by Bad Man
    I'm trying to send a mouse click event on a certain element in the QtWebKit DOM but I'm obviously doing it wrong: QWebElement el=this->page()->mainFrame()->findFirstElement("input[type=submit]"); el.setFocus(); QMouseEvent pressEvent(QMouseEvent::MouseButtonPress, el.geometry().center(), Qt::MouseButton::LeftButton, Qt::LeftButton, Qt::NoModifier); QCoreApplication::sendEvent(this->page()->mainFrame(), &pressEvent); QMouseEvent releaseEvent(QMouseEvent::MouseButtonRelease, el.geometry().center(), Qt::MouseButton::LeftButton, Qt::LeftButton, Qt::NoModifier); QCoreApplication::sendEvent(this->page()->mainFrame(), &releaseEvent); Any ideas? (p.s. I am extending QWebView if it wasn't obvious)

  • How bad is opening and closing a SQL connection for several times? What is the exact effect?

    - by Eren
For example, I need to fill lots of DataTables with SQLDataAdapter's Fill() method: DataAdapter1.Fill(DataTable1); DataAdapter2.Fill(DataTable2); DataAdapter3.Fill(DataTable3); DataAdapter4.Fill(DataTable4); DataAdapter5.Fill(DataTable5); .... .... Even all the dataadapter objects use the same SQLConnection, each Fill method will open and close the connection unless the connection state is already open before the method call. What I want to know is how does unnecessarily opening and closing SQLConnections affect the performance of the application. How much does it need to scale to see the bad effects of this problem (100,000s of concurrent users?). In a mid-size website (daily 50000 users) does it worth bothering and searching for all the Fill() calls, keeping them together in the code and opening the connection before any Fill() call and closing afterwards?

  • Importing a DllMain winapi .dll into Visual Studio project C++

    - by Bad Man
I have the .def file, .lib file, the .dll, the source files. It's using WINAPI DllMain, all its functions follow that. It's like this: BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HANDLE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved ) { return TRUE; } extern "C" { int WINAPI DoSomething() { return -1; } int WINAPI DOSOMETHIGNELSE!() { return 202020; } }; IN the project settings linker I added the .lib file. There is no header file for the actual functions in the extern "C" part. I include windows.h try to call DoSomething() but doesnt know what it is.

  • Which file is the COM++ object and how do I import it to .NET?

    - by Bad Man
I'm trying to write a COM++ object wrapper around a Qt widget (control) I wrote so I can use it in future .NET projects. e.g.: public __gc class comWidget; In the compile directory are the .exe, an exe.intermediate.manifest, and the comWidget.obj, and also some other crap files (.pdb, etc). So what/how do I import into .NET? I feel like I'm missing an important step for registering the object or whatever, but all these tutorials are terrible outdated and ridiculously unhelpful (for instance, I'm using the old CLR syntax because I can't find any good docs on the new stuff, thx again M$ for being lazy faggots as usual)

  • What is the most elegant way to access current_user from the models? or why is it a bad idea?

    - by TheLindyHop
So, I've implemented some permissions between my users and the objects the users modify.. and I would like to lessen the coupling between the views/controllers with the models (calling said permissions). To do that, I had an idea: Implementing some of the permission functionality in the before_save / before_create / before_destroy callbacks. But since the permissions are tied to users (current_user.can_do_whatever?), I didn't know what to do. This idea may even increase coupling, as current_user is specifically controller-level. The reason why I initially wanted to do this is: All over my controllers, I'm having to check if a user has the ability to save / create / destroy. So, why not just return false upon save / create / destroy like rails' .save already does, and add an error to the model object and return false, just like rails' validations? Idk, is this good or bad? is there a better way to do this?

  • Re-use aliased field in SQL SELECT STATEMENT

    - by Bad Display Name
Hi, the question is hard to define without giving an example, e.g. I'd like to achieve something like this : SELECT (CASE WHEN ...) AS FieldA, 20 + FieldA AS FieldB FROM Tbl Assuming that by "..." I've replaced a long and complex CASE statement, hence I don't want to repeat it when selecting FieldB and use the aliased FieldA instead. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? What could be a workaround? Note, that this will return multiple rows , hence the DECLARE/SET outside the SELECT statement is no good in my case. PLEASE HELP. P.S. I am using SQL 2008

  • Trying to create C++/CLI assembly for use in .NET

    - by Bad Man
I'm trying to bring a C++ library into C#, so naturally I am trying to make a C++/CLI project. In visual studio I created a new project (Visual C++ project, class library). I then tried to make a test class out of the pre-generated "Class1" namespace Test { public ref class TestIt { public: void DoWork() { System::Console::WriteLine("sup"); } // TODO: Add your methods for this class here. }; } So I compile in and go to the build folder.... hrmm no .dll wetf?? There's a .dll.intermediate.manifest file, but no .dll. So wut I did wrong?

  • SFTP not supported error with PHP & cURL

    - by Bad Programmer
    I followed the advice from this Stack Overflow question thread, but I keep hitting a snag. I am receiving the following error message: Unsupported protocol: sftp Here is my code: $ch = curl_init(); if(!$ch) { $error = curl_error($ch); die("cURL session could not be initiated. ERROR: $error.""); } $fp = fopen($docname, 'r'); if(!$fp) { $error = curl_error($ch); die("$docname could not be read."); } curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "sftp://$user_name:$user_pass@$server:22/$docname"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_UPLOAD, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PROTOCOLS, CURLPROTO_SFTP); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILE, $fp); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILESIZE, filesize($docname)); //this is where I get the failure $exec = curl_exec ($ch); if(!$exec) { $error = curl_error($ch); die("File $docname could not be uploaded. ERROR: $error."); } curl_close ($ch); I used the curl_version() function to see my curl information, and found that sftp doesn't seem to be in the array of supported protocols: [version_number] => 462597 [age] => 2 [features] => 1597 [ssl_version_number] => 0 [version] => 7.15.5 [host] => x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu [ssl_version] => OpenSSL/0.9.8b [libz_version] => 1.2.3 [protocols] => Array ( [0] => tftp [1] => ftp [2] => telnet [3] => dict [4] => ldap [5] => http [6] => file [7] => https [8] => ftps ) Is this a matter of my version of cURL being outdated, or is the SFTP protocol simply not supported at all? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  • SQLAuthority News – The Best Quotes of “Who Wrote This?” Contest

    - by pinaldave
I am a frequent reader of Brent Ozar PLF, it is one of my favorite blogs. A recent post announced a “Who Wrote This?” contest to see if readers could tell their three contributors apart based on some writing samples. Here are my favorite lines from the sample paragraphs, from each of the three “mystery authors.” Topic 1: Working with Bad Managers Mystery Author A – “Working with bad managers means working against my own happiness, and I’ve come to learn that there’s no changing bad managers.” I love this line because, as anyone who has had a bad manager knows, often a lot of self-doubt rises up. We all have to remember that sometimes the problem is out of our control. Mystery Author B – “Mentor your manager just like you would mentor a junior DBA.” Having a bad manager can be extremely depressing, and we often feel out of control. But we all need to remember that our work is a two-way street, and that sometimes we can subtly influence those above us. Mystery Author C – “The trick to working for all bad managers is to remember that they aren’t your parent. Take charge of your career.” We all also need to learn not to play the blame game. Would you rather stay in a place where you are unhappy, or would you rather take charge of your life? I hope most people would pick the latter. Topic 2: Working with Remote Teams Mystery Author A – “Like almost anything else the key is to make sure that everyone on the team has an understanding of how and when communication will occur.” Communication is so important. I cannot over emphasize how much. And this one line captures how I feel and even communicates the idea clearly! Mystery Author B – “The key to remote team success is verifiable trust: feeling confident that invisible team members are doing the right amount of the right thing at the right time.” I think this line not only captures the key aspects of remote work – verifiable work and trust – but there were so many lines that followed that I loved and could not fit here. The whole paragraph is a list for successful remote work. Everyone could benefit from reading it. Mystery Author C – “What seems clear, precise, and specific in one time zone comes across as vague, soupy, and just plain weird in another.” You know what? I just love this description. The author is right – sometimes vague e-mails really do seem soupy and weird! Topic 3: Working with Your Nemesis Mystery Author A – “Every job is temporary, but your reputation stays with you.” Everyone needs to remember this. The workplace is meant to be a professional arena, and many people have the opinion that work is temporary and disposable. No one wants to work with co-worker like that. Mystery Author B – “Unhealthy conflict is going to lead to leaving three week old tuna fish sandwiches in someone’s desk drawer.” Sometimes humor really is the best policy! Mystery Author C – “Oh no, it’s that guy.” This might seem like a weird phrase to choose as my favorite from an entire paragraph. But the whole piece was written in the form of a story of co-workers getting drunk and plotting against a nemesis. It was too funny to overlook, but too long to post here. A must read! • lvm disappeared after disc replacement on raid10

here my problem: I am running ubuntu 12.04 on a raid10 (4 disks), on top of which I installed an lvm with two volume groups (one for /, one for /home). I use grub2 to boot the system off this partition. On top of this raid10 I installed two volume groups, one for /, one for /home. This system worked well, I even exchanged two disks during the last two years. It always worked. But not this time. For the first time, /dev/sda broke. I do not know if this is an issue – I know I would have struggled anyways to overcome the problem with /boot installed on that disk and grub2 installed on the mbr of /dev/sda. Anyways, I did what I always did: start knoppix fire up the raid sudo mdadm --examine -scan which returns ARRAY /dev/md127 UUID=0dbf4558:1a943464:132783e8:19cdff95 start it up sudo mdadm --assemble /dev/md127 fail the failing disk (smart event) sudo mdadm /dev/md127 --fail /dev/sda2 remove the failing disk sudo mdadm /dev/md127 --remove /dev/sda2 stop the raid sudo mdadm -S /dev/md127 take out the disk replace it with a new one create the same partitions as on the failling one add it to the raid sudo mdadm --assemble /dev/md127 sudo mdadm /dev/md127 --add /dev/sda2 wait 4 hours All looks fine: cat /proc/mdstat returns: Personalities : [raid10] md127 : active raid10 sda2[0] sdd1[3] sdc1[2] sdb1[1] 2910158464 blocks 64K chunks 2 near-copies [4/4] [UUUU] unused devices: <none> and sudo mdadm --detail /dev/md127 returns /dev/md127: Version : 0.90 Creation Time : Wed Jun 10 13:08:46 2009 Raid Level : raid10 Array Size : 2910158464 (2775.34 GiB 2980.00 GB) Used Dev Size : 1455079232 (1387.67 GiB 1490.00 GB) Raid Devices : 4 Total Devices : 4 Preferred Minor : 127 Persistence : Superblock is persistent Update Time : Thu Mar 21 16:27:40 2013 State : clean Active Devices : 4 Working Devices : 4 Failed Devices : 0 Spare Devices : 0 Layout : near=2 Chunk Size : 64K UUID : 0dbf4558:1a943464:132783e8:19cdff95 (local to host Microknoppix) Events : 0.4824680 Number Major Minor RaidDevice State 0 8 2 0 active sync /dev/sda2 1 8 17 1 active sync /dev/sdb1 2 8 33 2 active sync /dev/sdc1 3 8 49 3 active sync /dev/sdd1 However, there is no trace of the volume groups. Rebooting into knoppix does not help Restarting the old system (I actually replugged and re-added the failing disk for that – the system begins to start, but then fails to see the / partition – no wonder if the volume group is gone) does not help. sudo vgscan, sudo vgdisplay, sudo lvs, sudo lvdisplay, sudo vgscan –mknodes all returned No volume groups found. I am completely at a loss. Can anyone tell me if and how I can recover my data? Thanks in advance!

  • Do I need to be worried about these SMART drive temperatures?

    - by Steve Lorimer
I have 5 hard drives in a machine sitting in a cupboard. /dev/sda is a 500GB Seagate drive, and is the boot disk. /dev/sd{b,c,d,e} are 2TB drives in a raid6 configuration. smartctl is showing significantly higher temperatures (like ~140 degrees celsius) on the raid drives than the boot drive. Do I need to be worried? /dev/sdb and /dev/sde are new Western Digital Black drives (new=1 week) /dev/sdc and /dev/sdd are 5 year old Hitachi drives /dev/sda [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 40 to 39 /dev/sdc [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 142 to 146 /dev/sdc [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 146 to 142 /dev/sdd [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 142 to 146 /dev/sda [SAT], Airflow_Temperature_Cel changed from 61 to 62 /dev/sda [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 39 to 38 /dev/sde [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 107 to 108 /dev/sdb [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 108 to 109 /dev/sdc [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 146 to 150 /dev/sdc [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 146 to 150 /dev/sda [SAT], Airflow_Temperature_Cel changed from 62 to 61 /dev/sda [SAT], Temperature_Celsius changed from 38 to 39 Update: Adding detailed drive information as per request: /dev/sda =========================== smartctl 6.0 2012-10-10 r3643 [x86_64-linux-3.9.10-100.fc17.x86_64] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-12, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Seagate Pipeline HD 5900.2 Device Model: ST3500312CS Serial Number: 5VV47HXA LU WWN Device Id: 5 000c50 02aad5ad6 Firmware Version: SC13 User Capacity: 500,107,862,016 bytes [500 GB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Rotation Rate: 5900 rpm Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show] ATA Version is: ATA8-ACS T13/1699-D revision 4 SATA Version is: SATA 2.6, 1.5 Gb/s (current: 1.5 Gb/s) Local Time is: Tue Jun 3 10:54:11 2014 EST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. • How to use more than 3 virtual disks in Linux using CentOS and XenServer

    - by 010110110101
I've attached 5 virtual disks to a Virtual Machine in Citrix XenServer. The VM has the xs-tools installed. Initially it said that it couldn't add so many disks. After I installed the xs-tools, it let me add all the disks. But /dev doesn't show all the disks. It shows these: /dev/xvda /dev/xvdb /dev/xvdc /dev/cdrom Perhaps it is bound by the limits of an IDE bus? (3 disks + CD-ROM) If so, how does one change the VM to use SCSI? Edit: According to the documentation: 2.6.3. VM Block Devices In the PV Linux case, block devices are passed through as PV devices. XenServer does not attempt to emulate SCSI or IDE, but instead provides a more suitable interface in the virtual environment in the form of xvd* devices. It is also possible to get an sd* device using the same mechanism, where the PV driver inside the VM takes over the SCSI device namespace. This is not desirable so it is best to use xvd* where possible for PV guests (this is the default for Debian and RHEL). For Windows or other fully virtualized guests, XenServer emulates an IDE bus in the form of an hd* device. When using Windows, installing the Citrix Tools for Virtual Machines installs a special PV driver that works in a similar way to Linux, except in the fully virtualized environment. Still, with 5 virtual disks attached, I don't see the other xvd devices. • Building ARM assembler vorbis decoder lib 'Tremolo' for iPhone

    - by Joachim Bengtsson
I'm trying to compile Tremolo for iPhone. I've pulled in the files bitwise.c bitwiseARM.s codebook.c dpen.s dsp.c floor0.c floor1.c floor1ARM.s floor_lookup.c framing.c info.c mapping0.c mdct.c mdctARM.s misc.c res012.c into a new target, added the following custom settings: GCC_PREPROCESSOR_DEFINITIONS = _ARM_ASSEM_ GCC_C_LANGUAGE_STANDARD = gnu99 GCC_THUMB_SUPPORT = YES ... but as soon as xcode reaches the first assembler file, bitwiseARM.s, I get errors like these: /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:3:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:3:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:4:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:4:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:5:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:5:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:6:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:6:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:11:bad instruction `STMFD r13!,{r10,r11,r14}' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:12:bad instruction `LDMIA r0,{r2,r3,r12}' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:16:bad instruction `SUBS r2,r2,r1' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:17:bad instruction `BLT look_slow' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:19:bad instruction `LDR r10,[r3]' The first error I could google, and changing .global to .globl fixed the first errors, but I still get the bad instructions, and I don't get why. Googling for the ARM instruction set, the above instructions look valid to me. I've tried toggling thumb support, and building for just armv7 instead of armv6, but neither helped.

  • Can anyone give me tips how to solve this using Graphs in C or Java?

    - by peiska
    Can anyone give me tips how to solve this using Graphs in C or Java? I have a rectangular sector, that I have to escape, and I have energy that goes disappear every step that i give in the area. I have to give the only one possible solution, the one that uses the least number of steps. If there are at least two sectors with the same number of steps (X1, Y1) and (X2, Y2) then choose the first if X1 < X2 or if X1 = X2 and Y1 < Y2. the position( 1,1) corresponds to the upper left corner. Examples: This is one sector,and i start with 40 of energy and in the position (3,3) 12 11 12 11 3 12 12 12 11 11 12 2 1 13 11 11 12 2 13 2 14 10 11 13 3 2 1 12 10 11 13 13 11 12 13 12 12 11 13 11 13 12 13 12 12 11 11 11 11 13 13 10 10 13 11 12 the best solution to exit the sector is the position (5, 1) the remain energy is 12 and i need 8 steeps to leave the area. for this sector i start with 8 of energy and in the position (3,4). 4 3 3 2 2 3 2 2 5 2 2 2 3 3 2 1 2 2 3 2 2 4 3 3 2 2 4 1 3 1 4 3 2 3 1 2 2 3 3 0 3 4 And for this one there is no way out, cause it looses all the energy.

  • MySql: Is it reasonable to use 'view' or I would better denormalize my DB?

    - by Budda
There is 'team_sector' table with following fields: Id, team_id, sect_id, size, level It contains few records for each 'team' entity (referenced with 'team_id' field). Each record represent sector of team's stadium (totally 8 sectors). Now it is necessary to implement few searches: by overall stadium size (SUM(size)); the best quality (SUM(level)/COUNT(*)). I could create query something like this: SELECT TS.team_id, SUM(TS.size) as OverallSize, SUM(TS.Level)/COUNT(TS.Id) AS QualityLevel FROM team_sector GROUP BY team_id ORDER BY OverallSize DESC / ORDER BY QualityLevel DESC But my concern here is that calculation for each team will be done each time on query performed. It is not too big overhead (at least now), but I would like to avoid performance issues later. I see 2 options here. The 1st one is to create 2 additional fields in 'team' table (for example) and store there OverallSize and QualityLevel fields. If information if 'sector' table is changed - update those table too (probably would be good to do that with triggers, as sector table doesn't change too often). The 2nd option is to create a view that will provide required data. The 2nd option seems much easier for me, but I don't have a lot of experience/knowledge of work with views. Q1: What is the best option from your perspective here and why? Probably you could suggest other options? Q2: Can I create view in such way that it will do calculations rarely (at least once per day)? If yes - how? Q3: Is it reasonable to use triggers for such purpose (1st option). P.S. MySql 5.1 is used, overall number of teams is around 1-2 thousand, overall number of records in sector table - overall 6-8 thousand. I understand, those numbers are pretty small, but I would like to implement the best practice here.

  • 'Unable to mount Filesystem' Error

    - by Charles
Trying to extract data from a 'bricked' Western Digital MyBook Live 2tb drive. I came across a forum that advised to use Ubuntu (booted from a CD) on my Macbook. Managed to download and create a boot CD for Ubuntu (like this little operating system btw). Booted the machine with the CD and plugged the drive (which I had extracted from it's casing and placed into a external USB SATA case & plugged to the laptop). The drive is seen by Ubuntu but each time I click on the drive, it gives me the following error: Unable to mount 2.0 TB Filesystem Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb4, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog -try dmesg | tail or so I am new to this and spent quite some time searching this site to see if I could find a solution to this problem without troubling anyone. I came up with a few that came close but some of the questioners mentioned that they had lost data...which scared me from going further. I need to basically extract 1 particular folder from the drive. If I can get to mount this volume 'sdb4', there is a folder called 'My_Work' which I need to back up. The rest I have/had a copy of. When I typed in dmesg | tail...I got several lines..but I think ones that are relevant are: [ 406.864677] EXT4-fs (sdb4): bad block size 65536 [ 429.098776] hfs: write access to a journaled filesystem is not supported, use the force option at your own risk, mounting read-only [ 439.786365] hfs: write access to a journaled filesystem is not supported, use the force option at your own risk, mounting read-only [ 445.982692] EXT4-fs (sdb4): bad block size 65536 [ 1565.841690] EXT4-fs (sdb4): bad block size 65536 I read somewhere to try/check 'sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb4'. It gave me the following result: Disk /dev/sdb44: 1995.8 GB, 1995774623744 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 242639 cylinders, total 3897997312 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Disk /dev/sdb4 doesn't contain a valid partition table This is where I reached and got frustrated and decided to try & get help on this without digging myself deeper into a hole! I understand that the answer may already be out there. If so, could someone please point me in the right direction. And if not, could someone please resolve (if possible) my situation!

    - by Cyril N.
(note: I don't know in which StackExchange site to put this question, I'll thank the moderator that will move it to a more appropriate place, if there is a S.E. available for my question).
