  • Making a C# w/ WPF multiple frame text / pseudo-calendar GUI application [closed]

    I am editing a recently asked question and making it specific, taking the advice of some people here. I would like to program of the following simple form: The user can produce X number of resizable frames (analogous to HTML frames). Each frame serves as a simple text editor, which you can type into and save the whole configuration including resized windows and text. The user should be able alternately "freeze" and present the information, and "unfreeze" and edit frames. I want to use C## with WPF, in Microsoft's Visual C#. I do not yet know this language. I am sure I can pick up the syntax, but I would like to ask about some general advice for how to structure such a program. I have never made a GUI program, let alone one that interfaces with a notepad or some basic text editor. Can someone either direct me to a good resource that will teach me how to do the above? Or outline the basic ingredients that such a program will require, keeping in mind that though I know some C and Python, I have no experience with GUIs or advanced programming generally? In particular I don't know how to incorporate this "text editor" aspect of the program, as well as the resizable frames I would greatly appreciate any help.

    I want to use a server as a device to run a script to parse a SMS text in the following way. I. The person types in a specific and special cell phone number (Similar to Facebook’s 32556 number used to post on your wall) II. The user types a text message. III. The user sends the text message. IV. The message is sent to some kind of Device (the server) or SMS Gateway and receives it. V. The thing described above that the message is sent to then parse the test message. I understand that these three question will mix Programming and Server Stuff and could reside here or at DBA.SE How would I make such a cell phone number (described in step I) that would be sent to the Device? How do I create the device that then would receive it? Finally, how do I Parse the text message? I don't want to pay for cloud space, server scripting stuff or server space; I want to just use a free webserver to do this totally free - meaning I will have to do more on my own...     I want to center the header on a Silverlight DataGridTemplateColumn. The following code gets me most of the way there: DataGridTemplateColumn column = new DataGridTemplateColumn(); column.CellTemplate = Resources[templateName] as DataTemplate; column.Header = headerName; column.HeaderStyle = new Style { TargetType = typeof(DataGridColumnHeader) }; column.HeaderStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(DataGridColumnHeader.HorizontalAlignmentProperty, HorizontalAlignment.Center)); The header is, indeed, centered, but if the column is expanded, the header doesn't stretch. It just remains it's original width, leaving white gaps on either side of it, which looks terrible. What is the proper way to center the column header, such that it still occupies the full width?

  • Is there a workaround to the disappearing Perl/Tk text widget scrollbar for right justified content?

    I've come across a bug I believe in Perl/Tk 804.027 Text Widget (using Scrollable('ROText')). When I add a tag that selects all and apply the configuration change to justify to the right, the scrollbars do not show up. If I comment out the tagConfigure where I justify to the right, the scrollbars come back. Does anyone have a workaround or fix for being able to right justify a text widget's contents (includes text and embedded entry widgets) and still have functional horizontal scrollbars?

    Hi there guys I'm new to LINQ and I'm trying to check whether a TEXT column is null or empty (as String.IsNullOrEmpty). from c in ... ... select new { c.Id, HasBio = !String.IsNullOrEmpty(c.bio) } Trying to use the above query produces an SqlException: Argument data type text is invalid for argument 1 of len function. The SQL generated is similar to the following: CASE WHEN ( NOT (([Extent2].[bio] IS NULL) OR (( CAST(LEN([Extent2].[bio]) AS int)) = 0))) THEN cast(1 as bit) WHEN (([Extent2].[bio] IS NULL) OR (( CAST(LEN([Extent2].[bio]) AS int)) = 0)) THEN cast(0 as bit) END AS [C1] LEN is not applicable to TEXT columns. I know DATALENGTH should be used for them... How can I force LINQ to produce such thing? Or any other workaround to test if a text column is null or empty??? Thanks!

  • GMap in iframe gets off-center

    I have a Google Map (API 2) that used to work fine as a standalone page. However, when I load the map page within an iframe (with Thickbox), the map gets off-center: normally it's centered over Germany and in the iframe it centers on Iran, instead. How to make the map center correctly? My guesses: The problem can result from the iframe loading time. I guess, that the script calculates window size basing on the iframe size when it's still loading. It's strange since I load the map when the document is ready. $(document).ready(function() { setupSearchForm(); setupMap(); setupResults(); }); For instance, when I refresh the already loaded iframe the center comes back to Germany.   • How come, diffrent text files become diffrent sizes after compression ?

    I have file of some random text size = 27 gb and after compression it becomes 40 mb or so. And a 3.5 GB sql file become 45 Mb after compression. But a 109 mb text file become 72 mb after compression so what can be wrong with it. Why so less compressed, it must 10 mb or so , or i am missing something . All files as i can see is English text only and and some grammar symbols (/ , . - = + etc) Can you tell why ? If not can you tell how can i super compress a text file ? I can code in PHP , np in that.

    Hi all. I have a rectangle in .NET in which I draw an ellipse. I know the width, height and center point of that rectangle. Ofcourse the cetner point of the rectangle is also the center point of the ellipse. I know how to calculate a point on a circle, however I have no clue about an ellipse. I have those parameters and an angle, i need the point on the ellipse, can someone post the formula? I saw somewhere you need to calculate 2 points in which 2 raduises will go, the sum of the radiuses will be fixed and they will change in size accordingly. I dont know how to do that, I only have the rectange height, width and center point and ofcourse the angle I wish to find the point at. thanks for any help Shlomi

    I'm doing a typical full text search using containstable using 'ISABOUT(term1,term2,term3)' and although it supports term weighting that's not what I need. I need the ability to boost the relevancy of terms contained in certain portions of text. For example, it is customary for metatags or page title to be weighted differently than body text when searching web pages. Although I'm not dealing with web pages I do seek the same functionality. In Lucene it's called Document Field Level Boosting. How would one natively do this in Sql Server Full Text Search?

  • I am using jquery ajax using text() but any html written in the XML doesn't render?

    So I have Jquery Ajax working real nice, but an issue I am having is in my XML if I want to bold a work or Italicize a sentence, if I do it in the XML using HTML tags it will not show up. I am pretty sure it is due to using the .text().   • How can I catch a change event from an HTML text field when a user clicks on a link after editing?

    Our webapp has a form with fields and values that change depending on values entered. Each time there is a change event on one of the form elements, we use an expensive AJAX call to update other elements on the page. This works great for selects, radio buttons and checkboxes. The issue comes in when a user adds content to a text field, and then clicks a link without taking the focus from the text field. The browser moves to a new page, and the contents of the text field are never saved. Is there an easy way to code around this? The AJAX call is too expensive to call with each key press.   • PHP export to text file - Only saving first line.

    I'm trying to export some extracted $_POST information into a text file, however my code is only capturing the first variable and ignoring the rest. I'm saving the information to the text file in this manner: $values = "First Name: $fName\r\n"; $values .= "Last Name: $lName\r\n"; $values .= "Address: $address\r\n"; etc. This is the code I use to write to the text file: $fp = @fopen("person.data", "w") or die("Couldn't open person.data for writing!"); $numBytes = @fwrite($fp, $values) or die("Couldn't write values to file!"); @fclose($fp); Any ideas on why it would only save the first $values ($fName) variable but not the rest of them? It actually saves the first part of the $values string for all of them (so I see Last Name:, Address:, etc. on separate lines in the text file) but the called variables $lName and $address do not appear.

    I have a field in my database that can contain large blocks of text. I need to make this searchable but don't have the ability to use full text searching. Instead, on update, I want my business layer to process the block of text and extract keywords from it which I can save as searchable metadata. Ideally, these keywords could then be weighed based on the number of times they appear in the block of text. Naturally, words like "the", "and", "of", etc. should be discarded as they just add a lot of noise to the search. Are there tools or libraries in Python that can do this filtering or should I roll my own?

    If we suppose that every fingerprint is made of concentric curves (ellipses or circles) - and I'm aware of the fact that not every fingerprint is - how can I find center of those concentric curves? Let's take this "ideal" fingerprint and try to find out its center ... My approaches were to try: Find the spectrum through columns/rows of the image and try to find columns/rows that maximize particular band of the spectrum. I thought that column going through the center would have most regular pattern of changing amplitudes - therefore, most recognizible harmonic. My second approach was to try to count the changes of black-and-white also through the columns and rows, and to maximize that amount among rows and columns also. While these methods work to the some extant, with some additional filtering, they fail, when fingerprint is "not ideal as this one is". Can you think of any different approach? Are there standard ways to do it?
