  • How to use Xvfb in Ubuntu 14.04 with/without RandR?

    I try to run Unit-Tests with Selenium running Firefox on my Ubuntu 14.04 Server. And I'm using Xvfb as described in this blog to simulate a virtual display to show Firefox in. But Xvfg somehow doesn't load/work with RandR. Because whenever I try this: sudo Xvfb :10 -ac & export DISPLAY=:10 firefox I get an Xlib: extension "RandR" missing on display ":10"-Error. I've also tried sudo Xvfb :10 -ac +extension RANDR, sudo Xvfb :10 -ac -extension RANDR and beacuse it supplies with "xrandr" also apt-get install x11-xserver-utils. And my setup is a plain empty Ubuntu 14.04 Server with apt-get install xvfb firefox. Can anyone please help me run Xvfb with or without RandR?

I whould like to know in what encryption should I encode my data and why first of all, I use GET method because it is search engine inside website. second, I use RTL language (hebrew) and thrid which basically is why I ask this question - firefox and safari (as I understood) encode and decode urls automaticly so if I encoded url, in firefox I will see it decoded which is good but if I copy-paste the url to the address bar and than enter the site firefox encode the uncoded url to utf (i think). anyway, what en/decode should I use, and how can I overcome the firefox auto en/decode?

  • Visiting launchpad.net in browser causes icon to appear in launcher, how do I remove it?

    Using Ubuntu 12.10 with Unity. I think I agreed to install a Launchpad add-on in Firefox the first time I visited the site (launchpad.net), and ever since then, whenever I have an open tab in Firefox with any page on launchpad.net loaded, an icon appears in my Launcher desktop widget. If I right-click on the icon and select quit, it also closes the tab in Firefox. I've since uninstalled the Firefox add-on and rebooted, and it's still happening. How do I make it stop?     Since version 4.0b7pre, there is no more statusbar in Firefox, which has been replaced by the new add-ons bar. The main problem is that a lot of users like me are missing some valuable information that was displayed in the statusbar on previous versions. For instance, when hovering a link the url is now displayed in the address bar and you can't see the entire address. Other information like which servers are being contacted when you load a page are no longer displayed.

  • menu not showing in apps when maximized 12.10

    I have removed the Global App Menu as I prefer to have the minimize, maximize, close buttons on the right side of each app. I did this with no problem in 12.04. I did an upgrade to 12.10 and noticed that Chrome, Chromium and Firefox all use the Global Menu. I have done the following: sudo apt-get autoremove appmenu-gtk appmenu-gtk3 appmenu-qt I have disabled the Firefox extension. I removed the corresponding Firefox package but still only have a global menu. I tried Gconf but apparently that does not work in 12.10. I then tried Dconf and found this fix on Google: org gnome desktop wm preferences, look for "button_layout" on the right panel. Here is the problem, after desktop, I do not have wm. I reset Unity and got a message saying something about wm is missing. I rebooted and opened Chrome and still no fix. I then clicked maximize and once Chrome was not maximized anymore, the minimize, maximize, close buttons show up in Chrome. Same with Firefox! Any ideas? I am truly stumped. Firefox and Chrome work fine in KDE Plasma and Gnome when maximized.

  • How do I find out the Mac Address Firefox submits for Geolocation?

    I moved, but have the same router and cable box. Now when I visit Google Maps it still shows my old location. I went to the SkyhookWireless update page to update my Mac Address with my new location. The process is you put in your Mac address and it shows you the current location, and then you adjust that location and submit it. When I got the Mac Address from the status page on my router Skyhook reported that location as in Pakistan, which isn't even the correct continent (as my old or new address). I tried every other Mac address I could come up with: The cable router, the Wireless router's other Mac address, my PC's Mac address, etc. and none of them reported any location on the Skyhook page. So I am guessing that there is another Mac address, or some other bit of information that is used by Firefox when it reports to Google Maps my current location. Now that you have the back story, how do I find the Mac address or whatever information it is that Firefox (or other browsers) use to determine my Geolocation? Everything I have read online is rather vague. The next option I am considering is hooking a logging proxy onto Firefox and seeing what data it sends, but I'd rather find an easier method.     In Firefox you can easily save a group of tabs together. When (re-)accessing this group, the 'cascading' bookmark menu shows each individual bookmark (and under a line) it says "open all in tabs" I'm looking for a way to launch those tabs without going up through the bookmark menu. Possible options: A) Record a simple macro w/ any number of "superuser" utilities* ('A' is not the preferred option, since many 'little-macros' are hard to keep track of) b) Use Autohotkey (similar to option 'A' and more flexible once you learn the basics) c) How does Firefox load all those tabs? The info must be stored somewhere (as a type of URL??) Quick Summary: The moment I click on "open all in tabs", I am clicking on something very similar to a hyper-link. How do I find the content (exact code) of that 'hyper-link', and / or "How do I easily launch the tabs?" .. . New EDIT #1: I'm looking for a way to launch those tabs without going up through the bookmark menu, or cluttering the bookmarks toolbar which I hide anyway :o) .. . New EDIT #2: I tried to keep the question simple and not mentioning Autohotkey programming. The objective is to launch all tabs using a button on an AHK gui. When grawity said, "It's just an ordinary folder containing ordinary bookmarks," he (she) reminds me I can easily find the folder / Now how to launch to urls inside that folder? ..   • Excel COM Add-In dialog interrupts script

    Hi all! I have written an Excel COM Add-In in C++ for automation of Excel with VBA. It contains an own dialog showing some general informations about the Add-In. Now i create a button in Excel that opens the dialog. Leaving the dialog with the escape key leads to an Excel message that the script is being interrupted instead of just closing the dialog. I could suppress the interruption message with: Application.EnableCancelKey = xlDisabled But that seems not to be the solution as the script can not be interrupted any more.   • Firefox 3.6 and above. Always show one tab even if all tabs are closed like Firefox 3.0

    I very much got used to Firefox 3.0. In that, to free the memory, I close all tabs but still the main Firefox window does not close. But in Firefox 3.6 and later if I want to close all tabs and if I do so then Firefox totally exists. This is not the case with 3.0. How to stop Firefox from not closing the main process even if I close all threads (tabs)? The autocomplete feature in the address bar of Firefox 3.6 and greater is in a dark blue color which makes me very much annoyed. With my environment and the monitor glare that is inducing anger in me, so how the color be changed to be like Firefox 3.0? Because you know that black and white are a neutral and good combination and since I have been working in Firefox 3.0 (and earlier versions) for a long time this new color change and other uncomfortable options are making me sick. To check CSS3 I need to use Firefox 3.5 and greater. Besides I like Firefox because it includes the W3C's recommendations so I can learn and test new recomendations from W3C.

  • No Firefox UI if launched during boot-up

    At work I'm using Windows XP SP2. What I've noticed is if I launch Firefox while Windows hasn't finished booting up, it launches the firefox.exe process but fails to launch the associated UI i.e. there's no Firefox window at the end of it. The only way to resolve this is to kill the firefox.exe process and re-launch Firefox. Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior? Update: I'm using Firefox 3.6
