  • How to grab all cookies in Flash

    For a site I'm developing with a user login that uses cookies to store the session ID, a separate section of it uses Flash to provide content and such. Is there some way it can access the cookies that were set the by login? The name of the cookie will not the be same every time, as it is randomly generated, as well as its value. I then need to send the name and value of the cookie back to a page on the server to do additional stuff. Anyone know how to do this? Note that I didn't write the Flash interface, an the person who did doesn't know how to do this. Please help me, and thanks in advance!

  • AS3 / Java - Socket Connection from live Flash to local java

    Hey guys, I'm trying to get a live flash that lives on a webserver to talk to a local java server, that will live on the clients PC. I'm trying to achieve this with a socket connection. (port 6000) Now, at first flash was able to connect, but it just sends <policy-file-request/>. After this nothing happens. Now, some people at Kirupa suggested to send an cross-domain-policy xml as soon as any connection is established from the java side. http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=301625 However, my java server just throws the following: End Exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed I've already spend a great amount of time on this subject, and was wondering if anyone here knows what to do?

    I'm not a flash dev, but I'm turning to it to try and meet a requirement. I'm to allow a user to select a file on their computer, then pass it to my web application. I know it's not possible to do this using Javascript, hence wanting to use flash. First, is this possible? Second, can I get a pointer on how its done? To clarify: I'm just looking for the path to the file. I don't want to upload it.

  • Custom cell in list in Flash AS3

    I am no expert in Flash, and I need some quick help here, without needing to learn everything from scratch. Short story, I have to make a list where each cell contains an image, two labels, and a button. List/Cell example: img - label - label - button img - label - label - button As a Java-programmer, I have tried to quicly learn the syntax and visualness of Flash and AS3, but with no luck so far. I have fairly understood the basics of movie clips etc. I saw a tutorial on how to add a list, and add some text to it. So I dragged in a list, and in the code went list.addItem({label:"hello"}); , and that worked ofc. So i thought if I double-clicked the MC of the list, i would get to tweak some things. In there I have been wandering around different halls of cell-renderers etc. I have now come to the point that I entered the CellRenderer_skinUp or something, and customized it to my liking. When this was done, I expected i could use list.addItem(); and get an empty "version" of my cell, with the img, labels and the button. But AS3 expects an input in addItem. From my object-oriented view, I am thinking that i have to create an object of the cell i have made, but i have no luck reaching it.. I tried to go var test:CellRenderer = list.listItem; list.addItem(test); ..But with no luck. This is just for funsies, but I really want to make this work, however not so much that I am willing to read up on ALOT of Flash and AS3. I felt that I was closing in on the prize, but the compiler expected a semicolon after the variable (list.addItem({test:something});). Note: If possible, I do NOT want this: list.addItem({image:"src",label:"text",label"text",button:"text"}); Well.. It actually is what I want, but I would really like to custom-draw everything. Does anyone get what I am trying to do, and has any answers for me? Am I approaching this the wrong way? I have searched the interwebs for custom list-cells, but with no luck. Or it's integrated in browser only and can't be simple accessible? I know, Adobe AIR apps are supported as standalone .apk. So it must be some API/SDK (from Google) to connect with Flash player. Is there any details, how to program it (more clear: launch swf from my app and interact with it)? Thank you!

I know a bit of actionscript, javascript and some php but I'm not familiar with SPARQL or java. The documentation I can find on it is a little over my head. I have a couple of questions before I totally ruling it out: • Has anyone come across an example/tutorial for accessing dbpedia data through flash? • Im a little hazy on how you work with dbpedia.   • Export Flash as Transparent MOV

    Is it possible to export a flash movie with a transparent background as a .MOV. I don't mean for embedding in a website, I mean the actual .MOV (or .avi). What I'm trying to accomplish is that I have a flash animation that I want to embed in a WPF application. I don't want to use a Browser within the WPF because of all of the issues that surround the browser control (has to be topmost control, etc). So my solution was to export said animation as a movie and play it in the MediaElement control. The only problem is that I need the background to be transparent, and I can't find a way to do this. Any suggestions or alternative solutions would be most welcome.

  • Why sizes are different, and what do they mean?

    I have a 1 TB hard drive that consists of one NTFS partition which I use to back up my data (no operating system). The size of all the data in it is : 726 GB, size on disk: 728 GB, and the used space when I check the properties is: 731 GB. There's a 5 GB difference between the size and the used space. Why is that huge difference there? What's the difference between these sizes? (size, size on disk, and used space) Is there a way to calculate the difference, and be sure the HDD is not messing around? Is that normal?

    Hi, Does anyone know any Flash fla's which are out there and free which do something similar to http://audiomap.tuneglue.net/ (you have to type in a search term to see it in action). What I'm after is the flash to create the node in the middle which expands out into children and then each of those children can be expanded out into more children, etc. while keeping their distance from one another so as to not overlap. I'd like it so that if you clicked on a node to expand it, it would shoot off to a web site and get an xml feed which could then be used to create the children. Thanks

  • Flash Builder 'building' html files...

    I'm using Flash Builder 3 to edit my Flex app, but I noticed that every time I make a change on the .html files (index.template.html for example), even if it's not in the IDE but with another program, Flash Builder rebuilds the whole project. Is there anyway to stop this? Why would it need to rebuild the workspace everytime a html file changes? If it was too long it wouldn't bother me, but it takes a lot of time (more than 1 minute) every time. For your information the html file is 95 lines of 'code'. Thanks

  • Loading multiple embedded flash apps onto an HTML page- problem with ordering

    We need to load an embedded version of a site written in Flash, and not originally designed to load multiple instances of itself, on a HTML page. The specific issue is how to get them to load in order when embedded, given that they are all being opened by the same instance of the flash player. It's a complicated mapping application, and at the moment, the maps and data get intermixed as the session variables are overwritten by another instance starting to load before the previous one has finished. We need a way to have them load sequentially, one finishing before another starts to load. The most we can specify in the URL is an &order=1 or similar. We have PHP and SQL on the backend. Edit: The embedded versions are being loaded in an iFrame of a parent site. One php file loads one swf, as many times as the parent site desires.

In many cases the images seem to be dynamically called by the viewer, or are created only for the part of the image you are zooming on at that point. Ideally, the approach here would be a programmatic one that could be called on an identified flash element. Expect there is nothing universal, but interested in the top few approaches that will grab most cases.

  • Can I trick Carbonite into backing up an external hard drive?

    I use Carbonite to back up my PC (Windows XP). We were running low on disk space on our home PC (down to 15 GB), so I went out and purchased an external hard drive. However, Carbonite will not back it up. Is it possible to set up Carbonite to backup an external hard drive? I just want the external drive to be extra disk space. From their FAQ: The current version of Carbonite backs up only the files that reside on permanent hard drives on your computer. It will not back up network drives, external drives, and NAS (network accessed storage) drives. If there are files on a remote drive that you wish to include in your Carbonite backup, you should copy the files to a folder on your local hard drive. If the files are on a shared network drive, you could install Carbonite on the computer on which the network shared drive physically exists, and back the files up directly from that computer. Check back soon for a Carbonite service plan that will allow you to back up your external drives.

  • Is there any method of backing up Google Drive files in some sort of versioning system?

    Backstory My company is utilizing Google Drive for our shared files. Each user has their own Drive account. In addition, we have a corporate Drive account which holds documents which are shared to each user. Each folder is shared to different users depending on their permissions and positions in the company. Many users are able to add files, and updated folders within this shared Drive account. This is fine. What is not fine, is when someone deletes something that they shouldn't. I have little to no way of knowing when I file is deleted wrongfully. Furthermore, anything that gets deleted goes into the trash bin of the file's creator, so I can't just restore it from the trash. Question Is there any method of backing up Google Drive files in some sort of versioning system that would allow me to revert files back to defined points in time? What i have Tried I currently have this corporate drive account synced up to my personal computer through the Google Drive application. Each night, I run a backup on the file using Windows "Backup and Restore." This allows me to at least get back files that are lost, but I a cleaner method than this. It's very possible that I may not have the very latest version of a document on my computer when the utility runs.

  • FileReference.save() duplicates ByteArray

    Hi, I've encountered a memory problem using FileReference.save(). My Flash application generates of a lot of data in real-time and needs to save this data to a local file. As I understand, Flash 10 (as opposed to AIR) does not support streaming to a file. But, what's even worse is that FileReference.save() duplicates all the data before saving it. I was looking for a workaround to this doubled memory usage and thought about the following approach: What if I pass a custom subclass of ByteArray as an argument to FileReference.save(), where this ByteArray subclass would override all read*() methods. The overridden read*() methods would wait for a piece of data to be generated by my application, return this piece of data and immediately remove it from the memory. I know how much data will be generated, so I could also override length/bytesAvailable methods. Would it be possible? Could you give me some hint how to do it? I've created a subclass of ByteArray, registered an alias for it, passed an instance of this subclass to FileReference.save(), but somehow FileReference.save() seems to treat it just as it was a ByteArray instance and doesn't call any of my overridden methods... Thanks a lot for any help!

  • Use Drive Mirroring for Instant Backup in Windows 7

    Even with the best backup solution, a hard drive crash means you’ll lose a few hours of work. By enabling drive mirroring in Windows 7, you’ll always have an up-to-date copy of your data. Windows 7’s mirroring – which is only available in Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions – is a software implementation of RAID 1, which means that two or more disks are holding the exact same data. The files are constantly kept in sync, so that if one of the disks fails, you won’t lose any data. Note that mirroring is not technically a backup solution, because if you accidentally delete a file, it’s gone from both hard disks (though you may be able to recover the file). As an additional caveat, having mirrored disks requires changing them to “dynamic disks,” which can only be read within modern versions of Windows (you may have problems working with a dynamic disk in other operating systems or in older versions of Windows). See this Wikipedia page for more information. You will need at least one empty disk to set up disk mirroring. We’ll show you how to mirror an existing disk (of equal or lesser size) without losing any data on the mirrored drive, and how to set up two empty disks as mirrored copies from the get-go. Mirroring an Existing Drive Click on the start button and type partitions in the search box. Click on the Create and format hard disk partitions entry that shows up. Alternatively, if you’ve disabled the search box, press Win+R to open the Run window and type in: diskmgmt.msc The Disk Management window will appear. We’ve got a small disk, labeled OldData, that we want to mirror in a second disk of the same size. Note: The disk that you will use to mirror the existing disk must be unallocated. If it is not, then right-click on it and select Delete Volume… to mark it as unallocated. This will destroy any data on that drive. Right-click on the existing disk that you want to mirror. Select Add Mirror…. Select the disk that you want to use to mirror the existing disk’s data and press Add Mirror. You will be warned that this process will change the existing disk from basic to dynamic. Note that this process will not delete any data on the disk! The new disk will be marked as a mirror, and it will starting copying data from the existing drive to the new one. Eventually the drives will be synced up (it can take a while), and any data added to the E: drive will exist on both physical hard drives. Setting Up Two New Drives as Mirrored If you have two new equal-sized drives, you can format them to be mirrored copies of each other from the get-go. Open the Disk Management window as described above. Make sure that the drives are unallocated. If they’re not, and you don’t need the data on either of them, right-click and select Delete volume…. Right-click on one of the unallocated drives and select New Mirrored Volume…. A wizard will pop up. Click Next. Click on the drives you want to hold the mirrored data and click Add. Note that you can add any number of drives. Click Next. Assign it a drive letter that makes sense, and then click Next. You’re limited to using the NTFS file system for mirrored drives, so enter a volume label, enable compression if you want, and then click Next. Click Finish to start formatting the drives. You will be warned that the new drives will be converted to dynamic disks. And that’s it! You now have two mirrored drives. Any files added to E: will reside on both physical disks, in case something happens to one of them. Conclusion While the switch from basic to dynamic disks can be a problem for people who dual-boot into another operating system, setting up drive mirroring is an easy way to make sure that your data can be recovered in case of a hard drive crash. Of course, even with drive mirroring, we advocate regular backups to external drives or online backup services.     i was using von welch's instructions at http://v2kblog.blogspot.com/2007/05/adding-second-hard-drive.html] to install a 500 gig seagate drive to write the recordings to. everything seemed to be going ok until mkfs /dev/sdb1 then we get an error message mkfs.ext2: inode_size (128) * inodes_count (0) too big for a filesystem with 0 blocks, specify a higher inode_ratio (-i) or lower inode count (-N) my son is trying to help me but this is beyond him. our knowledge of unix/linux is very limited. at work the support people just sent me a line by line cook book. i would appreciate any help you can give us. the computer is a gateway mdp e4000 . mythbuntu is installed on a pata drive and we are adding a sata drive for the second drive. the bios sees the drive.

  • Folder missing in external hard drive

    I have been backing up my folders, I am using Seagate Expansion portable Drive. I had created a folder called "|o|o" in the root folder of the portable drive... I copied my latest folders into "|o|o" folder to re-install ubuntu. When I open the portable drive the folder |o|o is not visible, when I ctrl+a and check properties the space used is 122GB, however when I click on the drive to view properties of the drive used space is 260GB. It looks as if the folder is there in the portable drive but I cannot access it... I have tried to view all the hidden files and "|o|o" is still not there. I am using 12.04.Can you please help me to retrieve this folder.

Everything`works fine except when I plug in a 320 gig Toshiba external hard drive....it is not recognized. When I plug in an 8 gig flash drive it is recognized no problem. What do I mean by "not recognized"? I mean: how do you know it was not recognized. You can check the command "cat /proc/partitions" in a terminal with and without the hdd attached. If you see some difference, it's ok. If the difference is something like "sda1" (sd+letter+number) then you have partition on it, maybe it can't be handled in Ubuntu (no filesystem on it or so). If there is only "sda" in the difference for example (sd+letter, but no number after it) then the drive itself is detected, just no partition is created on it. Also you can check out the messages of the kernel, with the "dmesg" command in the terminal. If there is no disk/partition/anything in /proc/partitions, there can be an USB level problem, you can issue command "lsusb" as it was suggested before my answer. It's really matter of what do you mean about "not recognized". @Marco Ceppi @Oli @Pitto By "not recognized" I meant that when I plug in a 8 gig flash drive an icon immediately appears on the desktop imdicating that there is a flash drive plugged in and I can click on it and view the files on the flash drive. When I run the command cat/proc/partitions/ I get an error message Could not open location 'file:///home/bob/cat/proc/partitions' with or without the external hard drive installed.     Today, we interviewed Aarti, who recently organised a flash-mob for Oracle Campus, which you can see on our facebook page Hi Aarti, perhaps you could give us a quick introduction of yourself, and what you do at Oracle? I’ve been with Campus Recruitment for just over a year. I’ve been with Oracle for three years. I was keen to get into the campus role after having watched other colleagues working in campus and when the opportunity arrived I jumped at it. The journey has been fantastic thus far. I’m responsible for the GBU hiring at Oracle. Why did you record the flash-mob video - what were your goals? Flash-mobs were one thing that took off really big in India after the first one in Mumbai. It’s the hot thing in the student community at the moment. A better way to reach out and connect with students. I think that it is also a good way to demonstrate our openness and culture at Oracle – demonstrate that we are very flexible and that we have a cool culture. I knew the video could be shared on our social media pages and reach out to a wider student community What was the preparation and rehearsal for the video like? When I decided to do the video, I had to decide who I would like to do the flash-mob. The new campus hires to Oracle would be ideal for this. We were 2 teams at 2 different locations and Each team took 2-3 songs and choreographed it themselves. Every day at 5pm, each team would meet up and every other weekend the whole group met. Practicing went on for about a month like this. How was the video received by participants and by students on the University campus? The event was well received. We did it during the lunch break at the University so that there was a large presence of students around while the flash mob took place. We set up about an hour beforehand to get everything ready. The break-bell sounded and the students came out, that’s when the flash-mob started. The students were pleasantly surprised that a company was doing this. They also recognised some of the participants involved as former graduates. Since the flash-mob and the video of it that you recorded, have you had much response due to it? We have, especially in the past two weeks. We went back to the college to make some hires. The flash-mob was still fresh in their minds and they knew well who Oracle was as a result. Would you like to repeat this kind of creative initiative again with the recruitment team? Yes, absolutely! I’m over the moon with the flash-mob. My mind is working overtime now with ideas about the next things to do!
