• Emacs shell output buffer height

  Hi , i have the following in my .emacs file(thanks to a SOer nikwin), which evaluates the current buffer content and displays the output in another buffer. (defun shell-compile () (interactive) (save-buffer) (shell-command (concat "python " (buffer-file-name)))) (add-hook 'python-mode-hook (lambda () (local-set-key (kbd "\C-c\C-c") 'shell-compile))) The problem is that the output window takes half the emacs screen. Is there any way to set the output windows's height to something smaller. I googled for 30mins or so and could not find anything that worked. Thanks in advance.

Considering the following script: # -*- coding: utf-8 -* from json import dumps as json_dumps machaine = u"une personne émérite" print(machaine) output = {} output[1] = machaine jsonoutput = json_dumps(output) print(jsonoutput) The result of this from cli: une personne émérite {"1": "une personne \u00e9m\u00e9rite"} I don't understand why their such a difference between the two strings. i have been trying all sorts of encode, decode etc but i can't seem to be able to find the right way to do it. • How to fetch output when calling R using Qprocess or system

  Hi Experts, I would like to execute a R script simply as R --file=x.R It runs well on the command line. However when I try the system call in C++ by QProcess::execute("R --file=x.R"); or system("R --file=x.R"); the program R runs and quits but I can't see the output the program is supposed to generate. If a program uses no stdout (such as R), how do I fetch the output after a system call either as a output file or in the program's own console? Thanks for your time.

• Bash script "read" not pausing for user input when executed from SSH shell

  I'm new to Bash scripting, so please be gentle. I'm connected to a Ubuntu server via SSH (PuTTY) and when I run this command, I expect the bash script that downloads and executes to allow user input and then echo that input. It seems to just write out the echo label for the input request and terminate. wget -O - https://raw.github.com/aaronhancock/pub/master/bash/readtest.sh | bash Any clue what I might be doing wrong? • Keyboard input for a game in Java

  I'm writing a game in Java, right now it's Swing + JOGL - a JFrame with a GLCanvas. I handle input using keyPressed etc. events (jframe.addKeyListener(...)) and it doesn't seem to work properly: when I have 3+ keys down at the same time, they don't register properly after the window loses, then regains focus, input stops working completely... What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way of handling keyboard input in Java? (I'd rather not switch to another library, like LWJGL... unless I have no choice).

• Deselecting a form input and waiting for a function before submitting

  I have a form with an input field where a user enters a unique identifier. I then have some jQuery code that upon the user moving away from the input field (blur) goes out and fetches details about the part and populates some fields on the page. The problem is if the user clicks the submit button before moving out of the input field the jQuery code never has a chance to load in the data and populate the necessary fields. Whats the best way to go about doing this? I thought about maybe setting the focus to body and then having an infinite loop that keeps checking the page until all fields that should be filled in have been filled in but I feel like some sort of event based solution would be better than unpredictable infinite loops. Any ideas?

• Css attribute selector for input type="button" not working on IE7

  Hi all, I am working on a big form and it contains a lot of buttons all over the form, therefore I am trying to get working input[type="button"] in my main css file so it would catch all buttons with out having to add a class to every single one, for some reason this is not working on IE7, after checking on the web it says that IE7 should be supporting this. Also it has to be type="button" and not type="submit" as not all buttons will submit the form. Could anybody give a hint what am I doing wrong? input[type="button"]{ text-align:center; } I have also tried input[type=button] Any help would be very much apreciated.

  Hi, i have the following code : <input type="text" value="<?php echo $_GET['msg']; ?>"> This input is automatically filled with the name that is writen in the previous page. So, if the user wrote : i like "apples" and banana The input will be broken because it will close the tag after the double quotes. I know i can avoid that by html entiting the value, but i don't want this, is there another solution or is there an <<< EOD in html ? Thanks

  I am using the JQueryui Datepicker. But it doesn't really affect values entered manually in the input-field. Is there some way I can use the same (client) code to specify mask / validation on the input field (when the datapicker is not used - not just have datepicker output the correct format). What would be the most consistent way to do this in the JQuery framework? Thanks Remarks It seems jQuery put som restraints on input (I.e. I can only enter digits- mask "yymmdd") so the main thing is to get validation.

• HTML input type="submit" doubles row height in table

  I have a HTML table where some rows have a button like this: <td > <form action="..." method="GET"> <input type="submit" value="..."/> </form> </td> The rows with the input have about twice the height of other rows that have otherwise similar data. When I remove the just the input, the row height goes back to normal. I have the same behavior in Firefox and IE. Is there any way I can have normal row height AND the button?

  There is a header.php file and it contains some php codes that return HTML. I know I can use require, include to echo the results, but what I want to do is to store its processed output string into a variable. In a page, I used: $headerHTML=file_get_contents('header.php'); Then I got the PHP code output rather than the processed HTML output. I know adding http:// would help. But I prefer to keep using relative path, how can I tell the function to treat the php file correctly?

• Hashing a python method to regenerate output when method is modified

  I have a python method that has a deterministic result. It takes a long time to run and generates a large output: def time_consuming_method(): # lots_of_computing_time to come up with the_result return the_result I modify time_consuming_method from time to time, but I would like to avoid having it run again while it's unchanged. [Time_consuming_method only depends on functions that are immutable for the purposes considered here; i.e. it might have functions from Python libraries but not from other pieces of my code that I'd change.] The solution that suggests itself to me is to cache the output and also cache some "hash" of the function. If the hash changes, the function will have been modified, and we have to re-generate the output. Is this possible or a ridiculous idea?   I have been trying to find a way to capture the output (rendered view) of another action within the current action... something akin to output buffering. The scenario is that I need to save a "snapshot" of a report. The data used in the report is ever-changing, and for whatever reason I need to actually save the view HTML rather than just a data array. I have created a snapshotAction(), and I want to somehow capture the output of the separate reportAction() within it. I don't want to render the reportAction() to the screen, I want it to render within my current action, before the action completes. Is there any way to do this in ZF?

  I'm trying to output the results of a SELECT query to a tab delimited text file in Advantage Data Architect. I know I can use the 'Export to' feature to do this, but there are a lot of tables and that is going to take forever. I would rather use the SQL editor, but I found out it does not accept the OUTPUT TO argument, even though that command is part of Sybase SQL. I would like to do this: SELECT * FROM tablename; OUTPUT TO 'C:/ExportDirectory' DELIMITED BY '\t' FORMAT TEXT; Is there another way?

• How do I set a property to the output of a command in msbuild/xbuild

  In msbuild/xbuild I'd like to have a "libPath" property which can be ovveridden on the commandline using /p:libpath="/path/to/all/libs". But when this property is undefined I want to call pkg-config --retrieve-Path somePackage to get the current systems path. I thought like here I need the output of a command to be stored in a Property. The command always returns one line of output. I have tryied something like <PropertyGroup> <LibPath /> </PropertyGroup> <Task ....> <Exec Command="pkg-config --retrieve-Path somePackage" Condition="$(LibPath)' == ''"> <OutputTaskParameter="output" PropertyName="LibPath" /> </Exec> </Task> But that didn't work.

I need to write a class that intercepts key strokes, if the input is determined to be from the keyboard wedge (as described in the above post) the data will be directed to POS classes to handle, otherwise they keystrokes must be passed on to be handled in windows in the normal manner.   Hi, I have a bunch of items – for simplicity reasons – a flat table with unique names seeded via bulk insert: create table #items ( ItemName NVARCHAR(255) ) The database has this structure: create table Statements ( Id INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, Version INT not null, FurtherDetails varchar(max) null, ProposalDateTime DATETIME null, UpdateDateTime DATETIME null, ProposerFk INT null, UpdaterFk INT null, primary key (Id) ) create table Item ( StatementFk INT not null, ItemName NVARCHAR(255) null, primary key (StatementFk) ) Here Item is a child of Statement (inheritance). I would like to insert items in #items using a set based approach (avoiding triggers and loops). Can this be achieved with OUTPUT in my scenario. A ‘loop based’ approach is just too slow where I use something like this: insert into Statements (Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk) VALUES (1, null, getdate(), getdate(), @user_id, @user_id) etc. This is a start for the OUTPUT based approach – but I am not sure whether this would work in my case as ItemName is only inserted into Item: insert into Statements ( Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk ) output inserted.Id ... ??? • Jquery Ajaxform with input type=file and multifile

  Im using ajax form with multifile. However ajaxform just seems to quietly die and does not do anything if using multifile. Multifile is just a jquery plugin that builds a list of input type=file so that you can upload multiple files at once, before which you can add/delete your file upload list. I've looked at multifile and made one change to ensure that it generated a unique name as well as id which it didn't do before and i've checked the form elements multifile is building which all appear to be correct. From looking at ajaxform, it seems that it shoulld just generate the iframe as normal and post the multiple input type=file but it does nothing. Has anyone else experienced problems with multiple input type=file uploads

  So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger. • adding new Input to jquery validationEngine form?

  I have some fairly complex ajax logic etc going on in the onValidationComplete function for a form with jQuery Validation Engine. This is working perfect, but one thing is bothering me. in the form I have the ability to dynamically add inputs (add new row button). so my code structure wise looks like: var form = $('#myForm'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); $('#newInput').on('click', function(){ form.append('<input />'); form.validationEngine('detach'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); }); function validationComplete(form, status){/*all my logic here*/} What I don't like about it is that every time I add a new input I have to detach and then re-attach the validationEngine. Is there any way to just tell it to add the new input to it's list of inputs to validate?
