• Sharepoint: authenticating users via forms authentication

  My problem is the following(sharepoint Newbie) , i want to change the default zone from being a Windows Authenticated Zone to a Forms Authenticated Zone ,thereby forcing the site collection administrator to log in via forms authentication and not windows also the sharepoint users will be accesing the site internally my goal is to effectively replace windows authentication with forms authentication as my company does not have active directory installed. So far i have created an ASP Application that adds the users to the database,the database was created via the .Net Framework Asp tool(Asp reg_sql),however when i change the default zone to the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider(Forms) and attempt to add my site collection administrator via the Central admistrator, i get the following error "No Exact Match found" as shown on the screenshot. My inkling is that somehow the people picker is failing to read the users from the database but reasearch on correcting that thus far has proved fruitless. I have made all the relevant changes on the these sites(Central admin site,My test site & Add Users site) config files.Changes are the following(Membeship Provider,Connection String,People Picker) i left out the role provider for now as it is optional. • My nameserver isn't registered?

  My problem is that I am trying to set my domain's nameservers to the nameservers of my dedicated server. My domain is hosted by Namecheap, and everytime I try to input the two nameservers for my private server, one of them is rejected for being unregistered. My dedicated server's control panel is managed through Parallels Plesk 11.5, and the nameservers provided to me are one from the actual provider, OVH (sdns1.ovh.ca), and the other is an actual unique nameserver that points directly to my specific dedicated server. Previously, for another domain I own, I was successfully able to get Namecheap to take the nameserver without an error, so I know this is possible. I know that it works for one of my other domains. After being redirected by Namecheap to contact the server provider, I called OVH and they said it was something I would have to do myself. One interesting detail the OVH representative mentioned was that he saw that my port 53 was closed, which is the port that handles DNS. The only problem is that I have no idea or knowledge as how to open this port back up. So, my final question is how can I get this nameserver working in Namecheap to point to my dedicated server?   I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio. I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233) Why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why would it not just use Shared Memory, as this has a higher priority order in the list of connection protocols? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason? When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message. My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer - perhaps this is making a difference in some way (as some of the discussions in this post about an "SuperSocketNetLib\Lpc" registry key seems to suggest). I have tried restarting the SQL Server service, by the way, and also tried to get someone to log onto the machine with an admin account to restart the SQL Server service. Still no luck.

• Automatically reconnect to VPN when it drops

  I use OpenVPN to connect to a VPN service. I will often use it unattended and on occasion I have come back to find the service disconnected and GUI asking for login credentials. If the connection is disconnected by the service, and not me, I'd like it to attempt to reconnect automatically with no intervention from me, and ideally, if the reconnection attempt initially fails, keep attempting to do so at regular intervals until a connection is successfully. Is there anyway to configure OpenVPN to do this? If not, can someone suggest a way of doing it with scripting (I use Windows)? Failing that, can anyone suggest a VPN solution that does this? The VPN provider supports PPTP as well as OpenVPN. I have configured OpenVPN to read login credentials from a file. Below is my config script. • Set up layer 2 vlan between 2 data centres

  Hello, Our data centre provider operates 2 sites, and we currently have equipment in one and would like to have equipment in the second. They've told me that they operate a layer 2 vlan between the 2 sites over a 20gbit connection, and that they'd just give me ethernet cable at each end to connect the locations. At the current site, we have Cisco 2960 48TC-L switches, all the machines are on a 192.168.x.x subnet and we have cisco firewalls with which we connect to our internet provider with. My question is what would I need to do to connect the 2 sites? could I just plug the ethernet cables the provide into the cisco switches, and have the same switches the other end? would I need to set up a separate internal network on the other side and connect both through the firewalls? Would the cisco switches need special configuration? We expect to maintain a number of connections between the 2 sites, and each site would have its own internal dns name like dc1.xx.com. Sorry if I'm being vague or haven't included enough information, I've a fairly good knowledge of hardware but we're down a netops guy at the moment and I'd like to get both sites on-line ASAP! • Display on secondary video card (Nvidia 8400 GS): horrible refresh, bogs system

  This is my work computer, but it's a small shop. We do business software development. The most hardcore thing we create is some web animations with html5 and fancy javascript/css. The base machine is a Dell Precision T3500 - Xeon W3550 (3.07GHz quad), 6GB ram, pair of 500GB harddrives, and Win 7 x64 Enterprise SP1. My primary video card is an ATI FirePro V4800 1GB in a PCIe slot of some speed driving a pair of 23s at 1920x1080 through DisplayPort-HDMI adapters. The secondary card is an NVidia GeForce 8400GS in a PCI slot driving a single 17" at 1280x1024 through DVI. On either of the 23" monitors, windows move smoothly, scroll quickly, and are generally very responsive. On the 17", it's slow, chunky, and when I'm trying to scroll a ton of content, Windows will occasionally suggest I drop to the Windows Basic theme. I've updated drivers for both cards, and I've gotten every Windows update relating to video. Specifically: ATI FirePro Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc Date: 6/22/2014 Version: 13.352.1014.0 NVidia 8400 GS Provider: NVIDIA Date: 7/2/2014 Version: 9.18.13.4052 Unfortunately, new hardware isn't really an option. Is there anything I can do software-wise to speed up the NVidia-driven monitor?

• Spring security - Reach users ID without passing it through every controller

  I have a design issue that I don't know how to solve. I'm using Spring 3.2.4 and Spring security 3.1.4. I have a Account table in my database that looks like this: create table Account (id identity, username varchar unique, password varchar not null, firstName varchar not null, lastName varchar not null, university varchar not null, primary key (id)); Until recently my username was just only a username but I changed it to be the email address instead since many users want to login with that instead. I have a header that I include on all my pages which got a link to the users profile like this: <a href="/project/users/<%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%>" class="navbar-link"><strong><%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%></strong></a> The problem is that <%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%> returns the email now, I don't want to link the user's with thier emails. Instead I want to use the id every user have to link to the profile. How do I reach the users id's from every page? I have been thinking of two solutions but I'm not sure: Change the principal to contain the id as well, don't know how to do this and having problem finding good information on the topic. Add a model attribute to all my controllers that contain the whole user but this would be really ugly, like this. • Linq-to-XML query to select specific sub-element based on additional criteria

  My current LINQ query and example XML are below. What I'd like to do is select the primary email address from the email-addresses element into the User.Email property. The type element under the email-address element is set to primary when this is true. There may be more than one element under the email-addresses but only one will be marked primary. What is the simplest approach to take here? • Access, ADO & 64-bit

  We have a large codebase that uses ADO under 32-bit, and we need to convert the code to 64-bit. We were using the Jet provider, but I know this is not supported under x64. We're importing definitions from msado15.dll. As of a while ago a 64-bit version of this DLL became available, but we are unable to get it to work. Obviously, we tested the code under 32 bit and got the desired results. On the 64-bit machine, the code explicitly imports from the known 64-bit version of msado15.dll (v6.1.7600.nnn). The machine has had the Office Data Providers (AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe) applied to get the new ACE drivers (ACEODBC.DLL, v14.nnn.nnn.nnn). If I look at Data Source under Administrator Tools (I know ODBC isn't the same as ADO, it was just to confirm the DLL was installed correctly), it shows the expected DLL. I can even confirm, using Process Explorer, that the version of msado15.dll it loads at run time (thus confirming that COM is finding the ADO dll) is the 64-bit version. I believe we have MDAC 2.8 installed (we have msado28.tlb in the same place as msado15.dll, but that might have been installed by AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe). The test machine is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. The test code was recompiled on that machine using VS2008 for x64 in full Release and run externally. And yet, we still get COM error 0x800a0e7a (Provider not found). Is there anything any one can suggest as to why this isn't working, or what further tests / checks I can perform to verify that I have all the right stuff on the machine (and thus, that it should work)? I know that ODBC will work under x64 (tried the test program using that) but rewriting our code base for ODBC would be undesirable!

• Button click does not start Service in Android App Widget

  I'm having trouble starting a Service to update an AppWidget that I'm creating as an exercise. I'm trying to get the latitude and longitude of spoofed location data from DDMS to display in the widget. The widget uses a service to update the TextView, which may be slightly overkill, but I wanted to follow the template that seems to be common in AppWidgets that do more work (like the Forecast widget or the Wiktionary widget). Right now, I'm not getting any error messages or strange behavior; nothing at all happens when the button is pressed. I'm a bit mystified as to what might be wrong. Could anyone out there point me in the right direction? Additionally, if my logic for location is faulty, I'd love recommendations on that too. I've looked at several blogs, the Google examples, and the documentation, but I feel a little fuzzy on how it works. • RSA Encrypt / Decrypt Problem in .NET

  I'm having a problem with C# encrypting and decrypting using RSA. I have developed a web service that will be sent sensitive financial information and transactions. What I would like to be able to do is on the client side, Encrypt the certain fields using the clients RSA Private key, once it has reached my service it will decrypt with the clients public key. I have not dealt much with C# RSA cryptography so any help would be greatly appreciated.   I have been recently experimenting with Chef. I thought I would attempt to rebuild my personal web server using chef-solo. It's an AWS instance running the Amazon 64bit Linux AMI.   I'm running a KVM instance inside of OpenStack, and it isn't getting an IP address from the DHCP server. • C# RSA Encrypt / Decrypt Problem

  Hi All, Im having a problem with C# encrypting and decrypting using RSA. I have developed a web service that will be sent sensitive financial information and transactions. What I would like to be able to do is on the client side, Encrypt the certain fields using the clients RSA Private key, once it has reached my service it will decrypt with the clients public key. At the moment I keep getting a "The data to be decrypted exceeds the maximum for this modulus of 128 bytes." exception. I have not dealt much with C# RSA cryptography so any help would be greatly appreciated. • Draw Circle on the Map once the application gets loaded

  Background:- In my application what is happening currently- Whenever I am opening the application, In the top half of the android screen, it draws a Map and in the bottom half of the android screen it show's a list view. And then as soon as the location gets changed, it draw's a Circle with the current location as the center of the circle and show's an image at the current location(center of circle). Everything is working fine till here- Problem Statement:- What I want is when the user opens my application, circle should get draw immediately on the Google Map (this is currently not happening, it draw's circle only on the location changed), without waiting for the location to get changed and without any image on the center of circle and then if the location get's changed, take the current location as the center of circle and draw the circle with an image at the center of circle. And this is my below code which fulfills the scenario that I mentioned in my Background- How can I make this code to work the way I wanted to? hope I am clear enough in my question. In this post, I demonstrate how to apply Dependency Injection in ASP.NET MVC NerdDinner App using Microsoft Unity Application Block (Unity) v 2.0.Unity 2.0Unity 2.0 is available on Codeplex at http://unity.codeplex.com . In earlier versions of Unity, the ObjectBuilder generic dependency injection mechanism, was distributed as a separate assembly, is now integrated with Unity core assembly. So you no longer need to reference the ObjectBuilder assembly in your applications. Two additional Built-In Lifetime Managers - HierarchicalifetimeManager and PerResolveLifetimeManager have been added to Unity 2.0.Dependency Injection in NerdDinner using UnityIn my Ninject post on NerdDinner, we have discussed the interfaces and concrete types of NerdDinner application and how to inject dependencies controller constructors. The following steps will configure Unity 2.0 to apply controller injection in NerdDinner application.
