• Sysprep and Capture task sequence failing using MDT 2010

  I have created a Windows Deployment Services server in Windows 2008 R2. When I originally set it up I was able to successfully use MDT 2010 to create my boot images as well as creating task sequences that would sysprep and capture, and deploy my custom .wim files. Everything was working perfectly. About a month later I boot up my Windows 7 x86 image and run Windows updates to keep my image up to date. I then go and run my sysprep and capture task sequence and I get the following errors: I searched online for the cause of this error message and it just seems to be a generic permission denied type of error message. I then decided to completely rebuild my VM image from scratch and try again. I am still getting the same error messages as before. The following is what I have tried troubleshooting this issue: Troubleshooting: I have ensured that that UAC and the firewall is turned completely off when trying to capture the image. I have tried recreating the task sequence and making sure that the deployment share is updated. I have ensured that the local Administrator account is enabled and has the same password as specified in the task sequence. I have tried joining the computer to the domain and running the task sequence and I get a different error: I have attempted to run the script from the command prompt with "Run as Administrator" and I still receive the same errors above. For testing purposes I have ensured that Everyone has read/write access to my deployment share. I have spent days on trying to resolve this to no avail. Any ideas? • Binding collection indexes to a WPF DataGrid at runtime

  After trying to develop our own control to display a table of data we stumbled on the WPF toolkit DataGrid and thought we were saved. A couple hours later I'm scratching my head trying to figure out if it can do what we really want it to do. The DataGrid seems to be based on displaying various properties of a single object, where I think I need something that can display a collection's items, I want to display a table of strings with a variable number of rows and a variable number of columns. Each row represents the state of a number of inputs at a given time. The number of samples may change, and the number of inputs may change at runtime. As a result, I can't create a custom object that represents a row with a property for each input. This makes the DataGrid binding more complicated, since I can't bind to a fixed property for each column. I thought I found a workaround for this by binding to ".[" + channelIndex + ]" but it hasn't worked out quite the way I wanted. Right now I have a collection of a collection of strings that represents the two-dimensional array of strings. I'm using ObservableCollection so string change event notifications work, but I can use any collection type needed. It looked like everything was working great until I realized that every row was showing the same line of data. Binding in C# is not my strong suit, so I'm kind of lost on what's going wrong. • ExtAsp or Coolite - ASP.NET wrappers around ExtJs

  Hi, We are a small Microsoft shop looking into ExtJs and like the rapid building of complex and structured UIs that can be achieved with the toolkit. However we have been experimenting with ExtAsp.NET (CodePlex) which is an opensource layer of ASP.NET code which wraps around the ExtJs framework. We have also noticed the Coolite framework which looks good too and does the same thing. We have 2 options, either we purchase the ExtJs license which will be required if we use ExtAsp, or we purchase the Coolite kit which includes the ExtJs license. It looks like Coolite is actually it little cheaper than the ExtJs for some reason?? However, is it a little more risky as regards upgrade path if the Coolite framework becomes unsupported, whereas ExtAsp as an open source solution will have community backing? Just looking to make the right step.

• How to autoscroll on WPF datagrid

  Hi, I think I am stupid. I searched now for 15 minutes, and found several different solutions for scrolling on datagrids, but none seems to work for me. I am using WPF with .NET 3.5 and the WPF Toolkit DataGrid. My grid gets updated when my observable collection changes, works perfectly. Now, my DataGrid is located inside a normal Grid and scrollbars appear if the DataGrid gets to big. Also fine... And know, the 1.000.000 $ question: How do I get the datagrid to scroll to the last row. There is: no AutoScroll Property no CurrentRowSelected Index a CurrentCell, but no Collection I could use for CurrentCell = AllCells.Last Any ideas? I feel really stupid, and it seems strange that this question is so hard. What am I missing?

• How do I apply multiple rotation transforms on a Raphael text object?

  I have a Raphael text object that I would like to rotate around an axis some distance away and also rotate the text accordingly so it stays horizontal. I know this is possible using SVG transformation matrices, but the author of Raphael has stated that they won't be a part of the toolkit anytime soon. Here's some code of what I'd like to do: txt_obj = paper.text(100, 0, "Hello!"); txt_obj.rotate(90, 100, 100); // rotate text so it is sideways at (200,100) txt_obj.rotate(-90); // rotate text back to horizontal Unfortunately, the second rotate command obliterates the translation and rotation accomplished by the first. Ideally I'd like to animate the operation, but I'll take it one step at a time for right now.

  For some reason I can't hide WPF Toolkit's DataGridColumn. I am trying to do the following: <dg:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Item Description" Visibility="{Binding IsReadOnly}"> <dg:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox Text="{Binding Path=ItemDescription}" /> </DataTemplate> </dg:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> This doesn't work, since it's looking for a IsReadOnly property on the ItemSource (not a property of the current class). If add this as a property of the ItemSource class that implements INoifyPropertyChanged, it still doesn't hide the column. Is there a way around this? I want the column to hid when a button click changes IsReadOnly property. Assume IsReadOnly returns a Visibility value and is a dependency property I am completely stuck, I would really appreciate the help! Thanks a lot!

On the server side (Asp.Net) I would like to merge the data that I receive in xml format with the empty pdf form that was filled and save it. As I have found there are several possible ways of doing it: Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with itextsharp. Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with FDF Toolkit .net (which seems to be using itextsharp internally) Usd pdfkt to fill the form. Use pdf form file created with adobe livecycle and merge the data by using Form Data Integration Service As I have no experience with this kind of task can you advise which option would be better/easier and give some additional tips?   The home page for gchart, a client side charting add-in for Google Web Toolkit (GWT), has a long screed about how the project's only maintainer thinks his Google account has been hacked and because of that he will be "disavowing/abandoning my own project and Google account". Does that mean the project is an orphan? Is somebody taking it over? There is always a risk on basing your project on somebody else's code because they may stop supporting it or abandon it during your project's life time, but it seems to me that with the fast evolution of Java and GWT, using gchart in a new project may be a big mistake. Am I right?

  What is the best approach for navigating between UserControls/Pages(out of browser experience)? I'm fairly new to Silverlight and even newer to the mvvm pattern. How well does the Navigation Framework Integrate with the MVVM Light Toolkit? A snippet for general application flow control with the two would be great. The plan was to use the Navigation Framework for general flow or using Jeremy Likeness's approach to region management(http://csharperimage.jeremylikness.com/search/label/regions) and swapping out regions as needed. That being said, I am attempting to write an add-on that makes some configuration changes and needs to restart Firefox in order to have the changes take effect. I want it to re-open all windows / tabs that were previously open before the restart (similar to what happens when you install a new add-on). Anyone ever messed with this type of functionality before?

• Why is IoC / DI not common in Python?

  In Java IoC / DI is a very common practice which is extensively used in web applications, nearly all available frameworks and Java EE. On the other hand, there are also lots of big Python web applications, but beside of Zope (which I've heard should be really horrible to code) IoC doesn't seem to be very common in the Python world. (Please name some examples if you think that I'm wrong). There are of course several clones of popular Java IoC frameworks available for Python, springpython for example. But none of them seems to get used practically. At least, I've never stumpled upon a Django or sqlalchemy+<insert your favorite wsgi toolkit here> based web application which uses something like that. In my opinion IoC has reasonable advantages and would make it easy to replace the django-default-user-model for example, but extensive usage of interface classes and IoC in Python looks a bit odd and not »pythonic«. But maybe someone has a better explanation, why IoC isn't widely used in Python.

  I am building a web application crawler that's meant not only to find all the links or pages in a web application, but also perform all the allowed actions in the app (such as pushing buttons, filling forms, notice changes in the DOM even if they did not trigger a request etc.) Basically, this is a kind of "browser simulator". I find WebKit a good option to implement my crawler, since it has all the needed technology (Javascript engine, parsers, DOM manipulation, etc.) but it seems kind of an overkill being a fully featured browser. Is there any toolkit you know that can provide the above functionality?

  I just read this question. It has some nice answers, but they are over 1 year old, and a lot have changed in this space over the last year. Some of the most popular frameworks have come out in a new mayor release such as Prism and MVVM Light Toolkit. My question is somehow the same, but with one twist, I'm already using Prism 4.0 because of the region and module features. Prism 4.0 embraces MVVM, but I feel there are something which are "not lightweight", for instance interaction requests. So I'm thinking would it better to use another MVVM framework either as a substitute or a supplement for Prism 4.0?

• Sending persisted JDO instances over GWT-RPC

  I've just started learning Google Web Toolkit and finished writing the Stock Watcher tutorial app. Is my thinking correct that if one wants to persist a business object (like a Stock) using JDO and send it back and forth to/from the client over RPC then one has to create two separate classes for that object: One with the JDO annotations for persisting it on the server and another which is serialisable and used over RPC? I notice the Stock Watcher has separate classes and I can theorise why: Otherwise the gwt compiler would try to generate javascript for everything the persisted class referenced like JDO and com.google.blah.users.User, etc Also there may be logic on the server-side class which doesn't apply to the client and vice-versa. I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. I don't want to have to create two versions of all my business object classes which I want to use over RPC if I don't have to.

  I tried to run winpdb.py, but I got an error saying that it could not find wxPython. This is strange to me because I know I have wxPython installed and included in my PYTHONPATH. I can import wx in the Python interpreter. • How to debug a tcl script which is argument to an executable?

  I have a application which takes tcl script as argument. I want to debug tcl script when the application processes it. My development environment consists of Dynamic Languages Toolkit from www.eclipse.org/dltk along with Active state remote debugger -dbgp_tcldebug. I am able to debug the individual tcl scripts with this setup. I created a tcl project in eclipse and added 'startup.tcl' and 'argumentScript.tcl' scripts and added following command to the startup script, set ExecutableName "xyz.exe" set returnValue [catch {eval exec $ExecutableName "argumentScript.tcl" } result] My debugger works fine with 'startup.tcl' script. I added the breakpoint in 'argumentScript.tcl' but it is not working. How can I debug the "argumentScript.tcl" script ? Edit: A solution without using eclipse environment is Tcl Dev Kit with remote debugging feature.

• Efficiency Question for an Ajax App

  Hi, Currently I am dealing with a web application which uses a txt file as a database for testing for now. But we will connect it to a server later on. My question is, if there is a more efficient way to get my objects than the way I am using now. During the page_init I am getting all my objects into a Collection as List, then I am populating the ajax toolkit accordion objects in the page with that. I have some client side buttons which fires callbacks for getting some other objects to populate the accordions in an update panel. And I am using .net Collections too much like dictionary and list, I am wondering if using arrays is more efficient. Could you advise me about how to make this site better and faster ? Is it better or possible to initialize those TravelP objects in javascript at the beginning and use it like that ? Any comments would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

The list of strings is an instance variable from the Window. What should I do?

• Is DataGrid a necessity in WPF?

  I have seen a lot of discussions going on and people asking about DataGrid for WPF and complaining about Microsoft for not having one with their WPF framework till date. We know that WPF is a great UI technology and have the Concept of ItemsControl,DataTemplate, etc,etc to make great UX. Even WPF has got a more closely matching control- ListView, which can be easily templated to give better UX than a traditional Datagrid like display. And I would say a readymade DataGrid control will kill or hide a lot of creativity and it surely will decrease the innovations in User Experience field. So what is your opinion about the need of DataGrid in WPF as a Framework component? If you feel it is necessary then is it just because the world is so used to the DatGrid way of data display for many years? • How to set dojo theme correctly using zend framework and Google CDN?

  I'm trying to add Dojo Toolkit to Zend Framework application, in my Bootstrap.php I defined following settings: protected function _initDoctype() { $this->bootstrap('view'); $view = $this->getResource('view'); Zend_Dojo::enableView($view); $view->doctype('XHTML1_STRICT'); $view ->headLink() ->appendStylesheet('/assets/css/global.css') ; $view ->dojo() ->enable() ->setCdnVersion('1.5') ->addStyleSheetModule('dijit.themes.claro') ; } All JavaScript functionality included correctly and working fine, however styling of forms and other widgets looks incomplete, no background,no images and no text styles, just basic layout defined. Did I missed something here?

  I am using the following code to populate a wpf datagrid with items in my db4o OODB: IObjectContainer db = Db4oEmbedded.OpenFile(Db4oEmbedded.NewConfiguration(), "C:\Dev\ContractKeeper\Database\ContractKeeper.yap"); var contractTypes = db.Query(typeof(ContractType)); this.dataGrid1.ItemsSource = contractTypes.ToList(); Here is the XAML: <Window x:Class="ContractKeeper.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:dg="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wpf/2008/toolkit" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <dg:DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns="True" Margin="12,102,12,24" Name="dataGrid1" /> </Grid> </Window> When the items get bound to the datagrid, the gridlines appear like there are records but no data is displayed. Has anyone had this issue with db4o and the wpf datagrid?
