  Basically i want to create XMLDesigner kind of thing in Flex, using which user can add/edit components and properties of view/dashboard. i am storing view structure in a xml file. i parsed that file at runtime and display view. How to convert an object (having properties and sub-objects) to xml node (having attributes and elements) and add that xml to the existing xml file. so that next time when i parsed xml file i'll get that new component in my view/dashboard. for e.g, object structure of component in xml file : <view id="productView" label="Products"> <panel id="chartPanel" type="CHART" ChartType="Pie2D" title="Productwise Sales" x="215" y="80" width="425" height="240" showValues="0" > </panel> </view> Thanks in Advance.

• Windows hosts file and IIS binding question

  I'm building a few SharePoint sites, and I want to make use of zones so I may set security different in the various zones. My workstation has a local SharePoint, and I use it for development. My workstation has a static IP, and is connected to the internet. When I make a SharePoint site, I want to add a host header, for instance, devbox.com. I do not own this name, nor do I want to. I then add an entry in my hosts file, but when I surf to http://devbox.com:8080, it does not resolve. Do I need to register the name I want to use, or should this work, i.e., have my hosts file resolve names/IPs first?

• PriorityQueue update problems

  After going through a bunch of questions here on SO, I still have no idea what exactly is going wrong with my code and would appreciate some help. The problem is that when I debug the program, at some point (near an obstacle), a Node with a fcost of say 84 has higher priority than a node with an fcost of 70. I am not attempting to modify the values once they're on the priority queue. You'll notice that I add at the end of the while loop (I read somewhere that the priorityqueue reorders itself when stuff is added to it), and poll right after that at the beginning. Status of 2 means the Node is the goal, and a status of 4 means that it is unwalkable. public int compareTo(Node o) { if(m_iF<o.m_iF) return -1; if(m_iF>o.m_iF) return 1; return 0; } And that's the compareTo function. Can you see a problem? =(

• Finding new IP in a file

  Hello. I have a file of IP addresses called "IPs". When I parse a new IP from my logs, I'd like to see if the new IP is already in file IPs, before I add it. I know how to add the new IP to the file, but I'm having trouble seeing if the new IP is already in the file. !/usr/bin/python from IPy import IP IP = IP('192.168.1.2') f=open(IP('IPs', 'r')) #This line doesn't work f=open('IPs', 'r') # this one doesn't work for line in f: if IP == line: print "Found " +IP +" before" f.close() In the file "IPs", each IP address is on it's own line.   I am trying to setup per-user fastcgi scripts that will run each on a different port and with a different user. Here is example of my script: #!/bin/bash BIND=127.0.0.1:9001 USER=user PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=2 PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS=10000 etc... However, if I add user with /bin/false (which I want, since this is about to be something like shared hosting and I don't want users to have shell access), the script is run under 1001, 1002 'user' which, as my Google searches showed, might be a security hole. My question is: Is it possible to allow user(s) to execute shell scripts but disable them so they cannot log in via SSH?

• Cannot see main user profile directory on old vista hdd on win7

  I have an old laptop HDD that ran Vista that I need to get some pictures and movies off of. I've attached it via SATA cable to my new Win 7 (64 bit) machine and it mounts fine, except I can't see the main user profile in the D:\Users directory. I've changed ownership and permissions for the D: drive to my C:\ Username but still no luck. I read something about it being caused by the UAC being active on the Vista machine. Is this true? Is there a way to disable this and gain access to the main profile without putting it back into the old laptop (it's fried and won't boot)?

  Hi, I am trying to put together a test case for using Lucene.NET on one of our websites. I'd like to do the following: Index in a single unique id. Index across a comma delimitered string of terms or tags. For example. Item 1: Id = 1 Tags = Something,Separated-Term I will then be structuring the search so I can look for documents against tag i.e. tags:something OR tags:separate-term I need to maintain the exact term value in order to search against it. I have something running, and the search query is being parsed as expected, but I am not seeing any results. Here's some code. • Config xampp never to cache pages from localhost

  Hello everyone: I am not a webmaster, and that was exactly the reason why I installed XAMPP 1.7.2 on Windows XP SP2 instead of manually configuring Apache, MySQL and PHP to cooperate each other. Now I am having to problem to disable caching pages from localhost. Some suggested just force the browser not to cache, using Firefox web developer bar or something similar; but I feel it would be better if I could configure the Apache server in XAMPP to never allow pages from localhost to be cached. I guess this is done somewhere in httpd.conf? LoadModule cache_module modules/mod_cache.so Would this module be helpful in this case? Doc here : mod_cache I am not very sure this would resolve the problem. Could anyone confirm this approach feasible? I'd like to work it out myself, given the fact that I am on the right track... • Pause/play AJAX on particular tabs in firefox

  Hi, I want to know if there is some method to disable AJAX on particular tabs within Firefox and re-enable them later. My concern is that I have metered bandwidth, and I need to conserve my usage. But I also like to leave several Gmail tabs open in the background. It would be great if I could just hit a "Pause AJAX" button, to stop the contents of that tab from sending or receiving anything, and then later on hit a "Play" button when I want it to start doing its thing again. Any suggestions?

• Autotools automatic invocation of lcov after 'make check'

  I have successfully set up an autotools project where the tests compiles with instrumentation so I can get a test coverage report. I can get the report by running lcov in the source dir after a successful 'make check'. I now face the problem that I want to automate this step. I would like to add this to 'make check' or to make it a separate goal 'make check-coverage'. Ideally I would like to parse the result and fail if the coverage falls below a certain percentage. Problem is that I cannot figure out how to add a custom target at all. The closest I got was finding this example autotools config, but I can't see where in that project the goal 'make lcov' is added. I can only see some configure flags in m4/auxdevel.m4. Any tips?

  Hi, You know, once you add a web reference to a webservice a wrapper code is generated by Visuel Studio. I was wondering if there is a method (or property) which is generated by Visual Studio whatever web service you add to your project so that I can put a breakpoint there and once the debugger stops there, I can simply read the response from web-service in an xml format (or should I say, soap).   I have installed Virtualmin on a Ubuntu 12.04 server and I'm using LAMP stack with Varnish (:80) in front of Apache (:8000). However, I cannot access https when UFW is enabled. When I disable UFW, all works fine. • Have SkyDrive not sync some subfolders of "SkyDrive"

  I am working with SkyDrive for a while now and it is GREAT! The only downside is that I am syncing my laptop and my desktop and that they don't have the same files. Example: For recording, I have Cubase installed on my laptop. This programme creates a folder "Cubase LE" in "My Documents". "My Documents" is being sync'd. This means, that on my desktop a folder will appear, named "Cubase LE". But it is not needed there at all! So what I'm looking for is an option to disable some folders from being sync'd. Can this be done? Like, right-clicking on a folder and selecting an option "Don't sync with SkyDrive". Thanks.

• Can I get 4 screens running on an ATI Radeon HD 5700 series video card?

  I have successfully run 3 displays using the 5700, but i want to run a 4th screen off the HDMI Port. Mainly I would like it to Mirror the primary monitor onto the TV connected to the HDMI Port. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I can get a signal to it, i just have to disable one of my original 3 monitors. Im not willing to do that. So other than disabling one of my monitors, does anyone have any suggestions?

• Win7 to Win7 Remote Desktop Not working, Xp to 7 working fine

  Hello, I have a small home network and recently i tried to enable remote desktop for one of the pc's. I have a mix of Windows 7, Windows Vista and Xp runing alongside ubuntu, centos and others (some virtual, some real). I have a few Windows 7 pc`s that can be connected to using remote desktop from inside and outside the network (port redirects on routers, etc, etc) and some Xp ones. The trouble is when i tried to do the same thing to a Win7 laptop i discovered i can't connect to it from another win7 pc inside the home network. To sum it up Working: xp -- win7 not working: win7 -- win7 What i tried - disable and enable remote desktop (my computer - remote settings) - removing and adding users to the remote settings window - adding a new user to the machine, administrator or 'normal' user - checking the firewall settings on the machine and set 'allow' to remote desktop for both 'home/work' and 'public'networks Any tips on what should i do next? It displays ' .. secure connection' and after that the window with 'Your security credentials did not work' and it lets me try again with another user/password..

  I recently began to start using functions to make casting easier on my fingers for one instance I had something like this ((Dictionary<string,string>)value).Add(foo); and converted it to a tiny little helper function so I can do this ToDictionary(value).Add(foo); Is this a code smell? Also, what about simpler examples? For example in my scripting engine I've considered making things like this ((StringVariable)arg).Value="foo"; be ToStringVar(arg).Value="foo"; I really just dislike how inorder to cast a value and instantly get a property from it you must enclose it in double parentheses. I have a feeling the last one is much worse than the first one though (also I've marked this language agnostic even though my example is C#)
