It's different than the past approach (aspnet_regsql). If you do file new project -> MVC 4 -> internet application, you get a really nice template with the controller and model setup for you. However, the tables are different than using aspnet_regsql and the ASP.Net Configuration tool (WSAT) wasn’t connecting to the data I had (it was creating an App_Data/aspnet.mdf file, which I didn’t see right away). Points of Note The database tables are created in the SimpleMembershipInitializer class, when you first run your app using Entity Framework 5 migration functionality. The tables created are webpages_Membership, webpages_OAuthMembership, webpages_Roles, webpages_UsersInRoles, UserProfile. Web.config settings don’t seem to be needed. Scott Hanselman on Universal Providers was also useful if not somewhat out dated. Why won't Webmaster Tools let me set a preferred domain? (says to verify, but it should already be)

I've got a domain that I apparently forgot to set a preferred domain for, so I just tried to do it. Webmaster Tools instead popped up a little box: Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own http://www.example.com/. Please verify http://www.example.com/. I'm running into some problems following these instructions: As far as I can tell I already did verify sometime in the past. There's a TXT DNS record with the gibberish Google tells you to set for it that I couldn't have come up with myself. …and nothing is telling me this information is bad. So let's assume the site is somehow not actually verified. All the various methods' instructions start with "click the Manage Site button next to the site you want, and then click Verify this site." That button doesn't even exist on my screens. (It presumably goes away when you successfully verify?) Those instructions were all updated pretty recently, and the DNS one in particular just a couple weeks ago so it seems a bit unlikely they're inaccurate. I am not using Apps, and won't be, so can't try out the verification through there. Note that I also have another domain that I have not done any verification for which is showing the same behavior(no such button, being told to verify when it seems impossible etc.) so something appears to just be broken. I already have a no-www process in place server-side, so we can skip that. I'm just trying to get the box checked off in GWT. If I don't get any resolution, I'll eventually scrap the TXT record and see if the site gets un-verified(or whatever since it thinks it isn't), and see if I can just restart the process. It's not urgent so I'm just trying to figure out if I've gone blind to something or what. Did the button move?

How do I get my Intel HD graphics to work alongside my HD7850, as my second(HDMI out) monitor?

Title says it all. Further info: Motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Pro3/ Processor: http://ark.intel.com/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-%286M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz%29 So currently my main screen is running on my HD7850. Got drivers from the amd website. I have looked through dozens of questions here. I'm about to try booting Ubuntu from a stick and seeing if the xorg-edgers drivers might help. When booting, all action goes down on the very screen I'm trying to get to work.*EDIT never mind this. Seems to be special boot magic. As the screen only displays whiteline errors once the gui of ubuntu has kicked in and everything graphic is happening through my graphics card again. Connected through HDMI(motherboard)-DVI. So unless having multiple displays is a huge deal the solution hopefully isn't that complicated. I just feel I'm missing something simple. If this really is complicated, I should probably just hook up the display to my graphics card. My CPU is usually the one chilling out though so I'd like to try to get that to work. Also just because I don't want to buy an extra cable and this set up makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Tell me what to try or look up, I'll be most appreciative. Thank you! **UPDATE The x-swat ppa installed some intel stuff. Booting with one monitor plugged into the motherboard gives nothing. Doing it with the pc already on gives the purple "Ubuntu" with 5 dots boot/shutdown screen.

Good resources for learning modern OpenGL (3.0 or later)?

I stumble upon the search of a good resource to start with OpenGL (3.0 or later) . Well, I found a lot of books but none of them can be considered a good resource! Here two examples: OpenGL Programming Guide (7th edition) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0321552628/khongrou-20 This is FULL of deprecated material! Almost every chapters begin with a note about that. OpenGL Superbible (5th Edition) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0321712617/khongrou-20 This book uses a library created by the author to explain the main arguments, hiding what you want to learn! I don't want to learn how to use your library! I want to learn OpenGL! I hope that you understand this is not the same question like "hey I'm not able to use Google... tell me how to learn OpenGL". I've just finished a full and deep search but I can't find a good and complete resource to learn the "new" OpenGL avoiding deprecated topics. Can someone heading me in the right direction? I know C++ and I have 10 years of experience in development... where I can find a good resource?! I want to spend time on it and I want to learn deeply. (please feel free to edit my question, my English is terrible!)

Rowspan not using top row

I don't understand why my column won't span to the top and bottom rows I created. It is supposed to look like the "Today" column is taller on the top and bottom then the other columns. I tried accomplishing this by adding rows above and below it and then using rowspan. For some reason, it only works on the bottom row. It's a lot of code, and I wasn't sure what I should cut without deforming it all or adding a new variable (it needs a fluid height). ubuntu 12.10 grub doesn't appear efi mode

After a number of failed attempts on installing Ubuntu and Linux in the hybrid-gpt of Windows, in which I wanted different partitions by gparted, I ended up creating againg a conventional partitions table within the conventional system. This photo is not mine because as creating the partition I did not think in taking photos, but I am showing you it so that you can see the format “MS-DOS”, the standard format of gparted. My neetbook is a k55MV Asus 500GB (the page don't allow me to put 3 hiperlink I will put it at the end in a new coment 1) I installed Windows by creating a partition just for it. Windows created two partitions else for starting the system up. However creating it on ms-dos appear now in gpt view fotos 2) With the rest of the space, I created a 90-gigabyte partition for Ubuntu and the “swap” of 4 gb. The other partitions are for data. 3) I assured myself about installing Ubuntu in the partition whose format was ext4, for using that partition as base and to install the “grub” on the base of 500gb. I have boot the system up, Ubuntu is loaded but the grub does not appear. I have tried by pressing “beginning” “UPPER CASE LETTER”, but no way! Moreover, it redirects all mysql and 13000-13004..etc port connections to a specific local ip in the same port, which is 192.168.1.100. But what I find strange is that when my firewall is active, it blocks absolutely all the input connections, even those which must not block (http, mysql). In fact, I'm literally blocked and I can't establish any external connection. What am I doing wrong? PS: I tested the firewall without those redirections, and it still block all inputs, so I suppose it's not the problem.

What is the correct way to code incoming links for SEO?

Our site is giving out 'badges' to our authors. They can post these on their personal blogs and they will serve as incoming links to our site. We want to give out the best possible code for SEO without doing anything that would get us flagged. I would like to know what you're thoughts are on the following snippet of code and if anyone has any DEFINITE advice on dos and donts with it. Also, let me know if any of it is redundant or not worth it for SEO purposes. I've kept the css inline since some of the writers would not have access to add link to external CSS. Sprite batching seems slow

I have implemented a sprite batching system in OpenGL which will batch sprites based on their texture. How ever when I'm rendering ~5000 sprites all using the same texture i'm getting roughly 30fps. The process is as followed create sprite batch which also create a VBO with a set size and also creates the shaders as well call begin and initialise the render mode (at the moment just setting alpha on) call Draw with a sprite. This checks to see if the texture of the sprite has already been loaded and if so it just creates a pointer to the batch item and adds the new sprite coords. If not then it creates a new batch item and adds the sprite coords to that; it adds the batch item to the main batch. if the max sprite count is reached render will be called call end which calls render to render the left over sprites in the batch. and also resets the buffer offset render loops through each item in the batch and will bind the texture of the batch item, map the data to the buffer and then draw the array. the buffer will then be offset by the amount of sprites drawn. I have a feeling that it could be the method i'm using to store the batched sprites or it could be something else that i'm missing but I still can work it out. the cpp and h files are as followed http://pastebin.com/ZAytErGB http://pastebin.com/iCB608tA On top of this i'm also getting a weird issue where then two sprites are batched on after the other the second sprite will use the same coordinates as the last. And then when one if drawn after it is fine. Problem with cometd and jetty 6 / 7

Hi chaps, I'm trying to get started with cometd (http://cometd.org/) and jetty 6 or 7, but I seem to be having problems. I've got an ant script that packages my code up into a war with the cometd 1.1.1 binaries and jetty binaries that are appropriate to the version of jetty I deploy the war to (so 7.1.2.v20100523 binaries when I deploy to jetty 7.1.2.v20100523 and 6.1.24 when I deploy to 6.1.24). We have this dynamic uploader which creates a new instance of swfupload. I'm a little bit confused with the outputs produced by firefox and ie. Firefox have the same output as chrome, safari and opera. Whenever I clicked a button for adding a new instance, the previous instances of swfupload in firefox refresh while IE don't. Converting a WPFToolkit DataGrid from 1D list to 2D matrix

Hello - I am wondering if anyone has attempted the following or has an idea as to how to do it. I have a WPFToolkit DataGrid which is bound to an ObservableCollection of items. As such, the DataGrid is shown with as many rows in the ObservableCollection, and as many columns as I have defined in for the DataGrid. That all is good. What I now need is to provide another view of the same data, only, instead, the DataGrid is shown with as many cells in the ObservableCollection. So let's say, my ObservableCollection has 100 items in it. The original scenario showed the DataGrid with 100 rows and 1 column. In the modified scenario, I need to show it with 10 rows and 10 columns, where each cell shows the value that was in the original representation. In other words, I need to transform my 1D ObservableCollection to a 2D ObservableCollection and display it in the DataGrid. I know how to do that programmatically in the code behind, but can it be done in XAML? Let me simplify the problem a little, in case anybody can have a crack at this. The XAML below does the following: * Defines an XmlDataProvider just for dummy data * Creates a DataGrid with 10 columns o each column is a DataGridTemplateColumn using the same CellTemplate * The CellTemplate is a simple TextBlock bound to an XML element If you run the XAML below, you will find that the DataGrid ends up with 5 rows, one for each book, and 10 columns that have identical content (all showing the book titles). However, what I am trying to accomplish, albeit with a different data set, is that in this case, I would end up with one row, with each book title appearing in a single cell in row 1, occupying cells 0-4, and nothing in cells 5-9. Then, if I added more data and had 12 books in my XML data source, I would get row 1 completely filled (cells covering the first 10 titles) and row 2 would get the first 2 cells filled. Can my scenario be accomplished primarily in XAML, or should I resign myself to working in the code behind? Any guidance would greatly be appreciated. Impossible to do POSTs with appengine-jruby/RoR: Reflection is not allowed

I'm trying to build a site with RoR on Google App Engine. I'm using the google-appengine gem (http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com) and following the instructions in (http://gist.github.com/268192). The problem is that I can't submit ANY form! I've already tried this in two diferent clean Win 7 Pro envs and the result is the same. After install Ruby 1.8.6 (One-Click Installer): 1. gem update --system 2. gem install rails 3. gem install google-appengine 4. gem install rails_dm_datastore 5. gem install activerecord-nulldb-adapter 6. curl -O http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com/hg/demos/rails2/rails2_appengine.rb 7. ruby rails2_appengine.rb (previously downloaded) 8. rails myproj 9. chmod myproj 10. ruby script/generate dd_model MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f 11. ruby script/generate scaffold MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f --skip-migration 12. dev_appserver.rb -p 3000 . At this point, I manually test the scaffold in (http://localhost:3000/my_models). The index is OK, then I create a new registry with the generated form, everything's fine, but when I try to create a second one, I get a "java.lang.RuntimeException: DummyDynamicScope should never be used for backref storage" in the console. As far as I read this is a won't-fix behavior in JRuby 1.4.1, but it's converted to a debug only warning in 1.5.0, so I proceed to install the pre release. 13. gem install appengine-jruby-jars --pre With this, that exception is solved and everything works great... until I move the project to the GAE server. 14. ruby appcfg.rb update . And now, in (http://myproj.appspot.com/my_models), again, the index is fine, also the new form, but in the moment that I submit it with valid data, I get a 500 error: "java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Reflection is not allowed on public int". As I said, this behavior is not present in the local SDK. In both cases, I'm completely unable to post anything. SVG as CSS background for website navigation-bar

I drew a small (horizontal / in width) svg to be the background of my website's navigation. My website's navigation takes place a 100% of the browser's viewport and I want the svg image to fill that 100% space. So, using css I set the background of the navigation (.nav) to nav.svg but then I saw (whenI opened the html file in a browser) that the svg was not the full-width of the nav, but at the small width I drew it at. How can I get the SVG to stretch and fill the entire width of the navigation (100% of the page) ? Hello, Although probarly quite simple, i cannot seem to find the following. The form takes certain data, and then represents the data in a table. Next step i click the hyperlink that takes me back to the form. Now my question is how exactly do i make it possible when filling in the same form again so both results are displayed in the same table? Then filling in a other form with data adds another row and so on. Regards.
