  • How to create a static delegate from main-viewcontroller?

    Hi, hope someone can help me on learning some new stuff about delegates in iOS-programming. I have a "MainViewController" which is the first VC when the app starts. I´ve a kind of modelselection with different UIImageViews and after choosing one of them, i´m pushing a new VC. I want to handle the modelChoice with a delegate, so all other viewControllers can listen to that and act based on the users choice. But does that mean that i have to alloc a new instance of that "MainViewController" in every VC? Whats the solution on that? How do i create (i think its called) static delegate? Would be great to learn that.. Thanks for sharing..

    when i open a new xxx.xml file it doesnt write to the R.id my new var example when i write in xml : <__Button android:text="New Game" android:id="@+id/newGameButton" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"</Button (the _ r from this web format boundaries ) in R it should write : public static final int newGameButton=0x7f050013; note : this is a xml i added as new to my project should i make something so the eclipse tool will write automatically to the R file?

  • Trouble refreshing UITableView

    I'm trying to develop a basic GPA Calculator. I have an AllCourses class that holds Course objects. I have an AllCourses object in my CalcAppDelegate. In my ThirdViewController I can successfully update the number of Courses in my AllCourses object. However, the problem I'm having is that when I switch to the RootViewController the UITable isn't being repopulated with the updated Courses that were added. I tried [self reloadData] in the viewWillAppear in my RootViewController but it caused my app to close. I didn't use IB to create the views so I think it could be the case that I don't have things hooked up correctly. I did it programatically. Does anyone see anything I'm missing in my code?     Say I have: @property (nonatomic,retain) NSString *foo; in some class. And I call: myclass.foo = [NSString stringWithString:@"string1"]; myclass.foo = [NSString stringWithString:@"string2"]; Should I have called [myclass.foo release] before setting it to "string2" to avoid a memory leak? Or the fact that nothing is pointing to the first "string1" object anymore is good enough? And in the dealloc method [foo release] will be called.

    Hello, I am doing something like extracting the pdf text in a string format so as to annotate the text and in the same process i need to find the image positions covered in the same pdf file so as to maintain its position. Now the problem is that i am not getting the exact positions of the images in the same pdf file. Is it possible to use some thing like OCR,if yes,how to use that? Can anybody help me in finding the exact position of the image in the pdf file? I need to implement some pdf reader kind of application for ipad,that's just for the knowledge. Thank you.

    I have set up an animation in the following way (self is an UIImageView, myImages an Array of UIImages): self.animationImages = myImages; self.animationDuration = 50; self.animationRepeatCount = 0; [self startAnimating]; During the animation I'd like to check the current image. I tried it the following way if([self image]==[UIImage imageNamed:@"image1.png"]); but this does not work. Is there a straight forward way for this? Can I keep track of which image is shown during the animation?

    I have a class that contains multiple user objects and as such has an array of them as an instance variable: NSMutableArray *users; The tricky part is setting it. I am deserializing these objects from a server via Objective Resource, and for backend reasons users can only be returned as a long string of UIDs - what I have locally is a separate dictionary of users keyed to UIDs. Given the string uidString of comma separated UIDs I override the default setter and populate the actual user objects: @dynamic users; - (void)setUsers:(id)uidString { users = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray: [[User allUsersDictionary] objectsForKeys:[(NSString*)uidString componentsSeparatedByString:@","]]]; } The problem is this: I now serialize these to database using SQLitePO, which stores these as the array of user objects, not the original string. So when I retrieve it from database the setter mistakenly treats this array of user objects as a string! Where I actually want to adjust the setter's behavior when it gets this object from DB vs. over the network. I can't just make the getter serialize back into a string without tearing up large code that reference this array of user objects, and I tried to detect in the setter whether I have a string or an array coming in: if ([uidString respondsToSelector:@selector(addObject)]) { // Already an array, so don't do anything - just assign users = uidString but no success... so I'm kind of stuck - any suggestions? Could both simply use the same persistent store coordinator, or would I have to create two instances of NSPersistentStoreCoordinator? And if I had to, then: Would I also have to create two NSPersistentStore instances?

    I'm creating a simple drawing application and would like some help with drawing rectangles based on the user's touch events. I'm able to draw a rectangle using Core Graphics from the point in touchesBegan to the point in touchesEnded. This rectangle is then displayed once the touchesEnded event is fired. However, I would like to be able to do this in a 'live' fashion. Meaning, the rectangle is updated as the user drags their finger. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi, i was trying to serialize an ArrayList which contacins custom objects. I`am serializing it in a servlet(server side), and deserialize at the client side. (using ObjectOutputStream,ObjectInputStream) it worked fine, when I work with ArrayList< String but when i tried it with ArrayList< MyObject i couldnt get any results in the client side, this is the exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: web.MyObject *ofcourse that i have done this: MyObject implements Serializable ...     Let say here is my stack layout View3 --> Top of the stack View2 View1 HomeView --> Bottom of the stack So I am in View3 now, if I click the Home button, I want to load HomeView, meaning that I need to pop View3, View2, and View1. But if I pop View3, View2 will be displayed. I dont want that. I want View3, View2, and View1 be removed, and HomeView will be displayed. Any idea how?

    Hi everyone I load from a txt file many info, and I would like, if possible, to dynamically create NSmutable dictionary with the elements of the txt. For example, each is like that: id of element | date | text What I'm asking is the equivalent of the NSString stringWithFormat:. Can we do the same for an Mutable Dictionary? To be more practical, let's say the NSString *date is equal to "23/12/2009" (for europe). I want to create a dictionary called 23/12/2009 without declaring *23/12/2009 but just something like dictionaryWithFormat: @"%@", date]; I'm stuck on this, and I don't even know if it is possible.
