• Installing Application Server Windows Web Server 2008 Enterprise

  I am just starting out with Web Server 2008 and I am having some trouble working with the Roles Manager. I am working on installing the Application Server using the Roles Manager and what I am running into is that it will run me through the install and then alert me that the install file for .NET 3.0 is not found. ("The source for the specified file was not found. error value: 0x800F081F") I think tried to install 3.0 manually and I was told I cannot do so. So I basically wondering if there was somewhere for me to place the install file so Roles can access it. Thanks Levi

• Log Location Url Responses of 301 redirects from IIS

  Is there a way to log 301 redirects returned by IIS with the (1) request Url and the (2) location Url of the response? Something like this: Url, Location /about-us, /about /old-page, /new-page The IIS logs contain the Request Url and the status code (301), but not the location Url of the response. Ideally there would be an additional field in the IIS Log called Location that would be populated when IIS responded with a 301. In my case the source of the redirect could be ISAPI Rewrite Rules, ASP.NET applications, Cold Fusion applications, or IIS itself. Perhaps there is a way to log IIS response data? • Turn Windows Event Logs EVT files into Syslog to send to LogLogic

  I have a a requirement to analyze 13gb of Windows logs by feeding it into a LogLogic Log aggregator. LogLogic is essentially Linux Syslog server, it can take a Syslog (Tcp/udp 514) feed or log on to a windows share and pull a flat file log. The only problem is that it cannot read the binary .EVT files from Windows Event logs. Normally, I would use Lasso to end the logs to a loglogic as syslog, but it has to read the logs from WMI and uses the DLLs on the log source host to format them and transmit them as syslog in the formatting that LogLogic expects. Does anyone know: A. Is there some kind of product out there to do this? or - B. Is there some way to import them into a Windows event veiwer in a way that lasso (or snare for that matter) will see them as actual real event logs on that host and forward them to the loglogic device as syslog.

  I have mailserver configure using dovecot+postfix+mysql and it was runnig fine in the server(Ubuntu Server). But during last week it stopped working correctly. It doesn't send email. When I try to telnet localhost smtp I'm connecting successfully but when I do mail from:<[email protected]> and hit Enter it hangs on, nothing happen. Having reviewed /var/log/mail.log file I've found out that probably(99%) the problem is on postfix when it is trying to connect to MySQL server. • Error installing php extension OAuth via pecl

  I'm trying to install the php extension OAuth in my local environment. php.net suggests it's super easy. You just run pecl install oauth. I tried this, and here is the output in terminal: downloading oauth-1.0.0.tgz ... • Idea for a physics–computer science joint curriculum and textbook

  (I apologize in advance if this question is off topic or too vague) I want to write (and have starting outlining) a physics textbook which assumes its reader is a competent computer programmer. Normal physics textbooks teach physical formulas and give problems that are solved with pen, paper and calculator. I want to provide a book that emphasizes computational physics, how computers can model physical systems and gives problems of the kind: write a program that can solve a set of physics problems based on user input. Third party open source libraries would be used to handle most of the computation and I want to use a high-level language like Java or C#. Besides the fact I'd enjoy working on this, I think a physics-computer science joint curriculum should be offered in schools and this is part of a large agenda to make this happen. I think physics students (like myself) should be learning how to use and leverage computers to solve abstract problems and sets of problems. I think programming languages should be thought of as a useful medium for engaging in many areas of inquiry. Is this an idea worth pursuing? Is the merger of these two subjects in the form of an undergraduate college curriculum feasible? Are there any specific tools I should be leveraging or pitfalls I should be aware of? Has anyone heard of college courses or otherwise that assume this methodology? Are there any books/textbooks out there like the one I'm describing (for physics or any other subject)?

If anyone knows how to fix the linker problem (or what I think is a linker problem), or knows of a better way to tell apache to use a newer openssl, it would be greatly appreciated; I've got apache 1.0.1i working otherwise.

  Hello Guys, I've been playing with slider on silverlight. Now the result is this, a simple resizing image thru slider.  The Image below is the default size of my sample. And the second Image below are the result when the slider slide to right and top. • Installing multiple php versions plus extensions on freebsd

  I'm a currently learning how to work with freebsd. Lately I have been trying to run multiple php versions along with their respective packages. However, I seem to be running into issues while making installations. The default location for my php installation is /usr/local/etc/, however I want to be able to install php5.2, php5.3 and php5.4 in /usr/local/etc/php52, /usr/local/etc/php53 and /usr/local/etc/php54 respectively. Using ports I simply achieved this by doing cd /usr/ports/lang/php5x && make PREFIX="/usr/local/etc/php5x" install clean. The problem now is: How do I do the same for extensions of all my PHP versions? When I try installing php-extensions like so: cd /usr/ports/lang/php5x-extension && make PREFIX="/usr/local/etc/php5x/lib/php" install clean, I get this error ... ===> PHPizing for php53-bcmath-5.3.17 env: /usr/local/bin/phpize: No such file or directory *** Error code 127 Stop in /usr/ports/math/php53-bcmath. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/lang/php53-extensions. My PHPize is located in /usr/local/etc/php5x/bin/phpize So how do I get make or whatever to look for phpize in the right path? Is there a cleaner, may be simpler way of maintaining multiple php installations? I need to achieve this because of compatibility issues from some legacy code that runs on 5.2 and breaks on 5.3. • Help on TileMapRenderer

  In my project, I'm trying to render a map using TileMapRenderer. But it doesn't show anything when I render it. But when I use some other files from a tutorial they are rendered correctly. When debugging my TileAtlas instance shows the size as 0. I have used Texture Packer UI for packing the images. Comparing with the tutorial's files, I can see that the index starts from 1 in my file and 0 in the tutorial. • problem connecting to datasource defined in freetds.conf

  I can connect successfully to my database using tsql when I bypass the freetds.conf file, like so: % TDSVER=8.0 tsql -H 10.100.102.202 -p 1086 -U sa After I enter my password, I am presented with a 1> prompt, and it is ready for my commands. However, if I try to connect using the definition in my freetds.conf file, like this: % tsql -S Millie -U sa after entering my password, it seems to be trying to generate a prompt, but it just keeps counting. I will see 1, followed by 2, etc, without ever displaying a > character. Here is what I have for my freetds.conf: [global] # TDS protocol version tds version = 8.0 text size = 64512 [Millie] host = 10.100.102.202 port = 1086 What could be causing this anomaly? • aliasing "git" ssh login to "gitolite"

  I'm installing gitolite from CentOS packages for my client. The package creates a gitolite user, which will be visible explicitly during a "git clone" operations. The client wants to use "git" and not "gitolite", in case we change to something more fancy later. I'm not very familiar with CentOS, so I don't want to try to build the package myself from source. I'm wondering if there's a way to do one of the following: Trick sshd into treating "git" as "gitolite". Somehow "alias" a new git username to be the same in all ways as the existing gitolite username (perhaps through some complex combinations of useradd). Rename the "gitolite" username to "git" without upsetting later yum update operations Something else that I hadn't thought of I'd appreciate detailed instructions or pointers.

• Migrate ASP.Net web site from IIS6 to IIS7

  I have to migrate an ASP.Net web site from IIS6 to IIS7. I tried to copy the all files for a web site from IIS6 (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\MySite) to another box with Windows Server 2008 R2 where IIS7 is the default web server. However, the simply copy seems not working. Should I rebuild the web site for IIS7 or should I make changes on the new box with IIS7 such as web.config? Thanks for the comments. Further investigation I found that http handers seems caused exception: <!--httpHandlers> <add path="Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd" verb="*" type="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" validate="false"/> </httpHandlers--> After I comment out the above handler in web.config, the web page works fine. This is just my initial test. I am not sure if I should rebuild the web site from source codes or not. If so, do I need to specify for IIS7?

• Kickstart installation: Unable to read package metadata

  I'm trying to install a CentOS OS with kickstart using HTTP as the installation source. The kickstart server and the installed server are both running on VMs on the same machine. after the anaconda system installer starts it fails with the following message: I tried installing two different versions of Centos(5.5 and 5.2), and they both pass a CDROM media test the manual installation provides.
