• II7 integrated mode MVC deploy 404 not found on "non-Index" actions

  Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Any help is appreciated. Thx.

• How to handle this "session failed to write file" error in PHP?

  I am using the Kohana 3 framework, and am using the native session driver. For some reason, occasionally the sessions fail to write to their file. Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_*****, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/site/public_html/system/classes/kohana/session/native.php on line 27 I am pretty sure Kohana has its own in built error handler, but it is not triggered with this error (i.e. it shows up like a normal PHP error, not the Kohana error). Anyone that has ever used Kohana will notice this seems to have bypassed Kohana's error handling (perhaps set with set_error_handler()). Is there anyway to stop this error from appearing without switching from the native session (i.e. file based) driver? Should I just give good practice the boot and append an @ error suppressor to session_start() in the core code of Kohana? Should I relax the error_reporting()? Thanks

  Hi. I will build an application, that will be like a mix from a trojaner and a remote tool. It will be a spy programm for our company, so the IT Admin and Managment can see what the people are doing or not. (Only for explayning, please don't discuss about "uhhh tahts not ok"). I must choose a language for that. My best knowlegde is in C#.Net and VB.Net, but one main feature should be: No framework must be installed - so DotNet is out of the run. I decided to VB6 and a few minutes ago I ask for a IDE and some people say: Don't use it, it's too old. So, I must ask: What language do you prefer for such an project?

What I want to learn is PHP really with seprate Layers. Database Layer, Controller and View but I don't want to use any Framework.   The title pretty much says it all, how do I know if I'm getting a compiler generated backingfield for a {get; set;} property ? I'm running this code to get my FieldInfos: Class MyType { private int foo; public int bar {get; private set; } } Type type = TypeOf(MyType); foreach (FieldInfo fi in type.GetFields(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.NonPublic)) { // Gets both foo and bar, however bar is called <bar>k__backingfield. } so the question is, can I somehow detect that the FieldInfo is a backingfield, without relying on checking its name ? (Which is pretty undocumented, and could be broken in next version of the framework)

  We have a c# (3.5 framework) socket server which is a console app, after about 3000 connections (or less, it's quite random), we get an unhandled exception which crashes the app completely. • Java REST Interface

  I have a PHP web application environment. I am using Slim Framework as REST interface for my application. My application front-end is written using Backbone.js and jQuery. There is a utility (.jar file) which when I use command line makes a remote call (I guess this is a Web Service) which returns me the data. how do I best incorporate this into my webapplication described on top? My application front end will have a Button that should make an AJAX call to the REST Interface and fetch the data as JSON. My approach: PHP-REST interface url is: /api/phprestapi.php exists Add a JAVA-REST interface at url: /api/javarestapi.java (Perhaps) to separate these two Existing Environment: LAMP Stack on Ubuntu How do I achieve this?   I'm diving in to iPhone development and I'm building an iPhone app that uses the Core Data framework and my first task will be to get the model setup with a few that will display it. Thus far, I have the model defined and my Managed Object Files created, but I don't have a database with any sample data. What's a quick way to create a DB that conforms to my schema? Are there any tools that can generate a sample DB using my schemas? Is there a good tool I can use to directly manipulate the data in DB for testing purposes? Thanks in advance for your help!   I am having the hardest time trying to figure out this (should be) simple css: Website is here: http://mibsoftware.us/fct/index.php I'm simply trying to get my #leftcolumn and #maincolumn to be inside the #content_container, yet whatever I'm doing isn't working at all. I'd like for the #content_container to be a dynamic height since the height of #leftcolumn and #maincolumn change depending on the page you are on. From the framework of my css it should work fine, so I must be missing something in my .css file declaring these divs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this will be a great learning experience for me.

• Do Portable Class Libraries work with .net 3.5?

  I am running Windows 8 and have both Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate w/sp1 and Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and I am trying to create a Portable Class Library that supports .net 3.5 and greater. When I first try to create a PCL I get a screen like this: I noticed that .net 3.5 is not in the list so I clicked on "Install additional frameworks" and found a Targeting Pack for version 3.5. But when I download and run "dotnetfx35setup.exe" nothing happens. And when I go back into VS and try to create a new Portable Class Library, it lists the same target frameworks as before. I have also turned on the Windows Features for .NET Framework 3.5 and am now out of ideas. Here is a screen shot in case I missed something else. Thanks,

What will happen if I do this? @interface MyClass : NSObject /* or any other class */ { int ivar_; } @end @implementation MyClass - (id)init { ivar_ = 12345; if ((self = [super init])) { NSLog(@"ivar_'s value is %d", ivar_); } return self; } @end In the case when [super init] returns a new instance, what will I see in the console? ivar_'s value is 0? I can't think of a way to check this myself, because I don't know which class may return a new instance from its init method. Also, can't seem to find explicit clarification for this scenario in the docs. Could anyone help me out? Thanks!

• Need some pointers/hints in writing a Windows Application

  Hi, I want to create applications in windows that has complete portability (within windows OSes of course). I have tried using one application written in Visual C++ but I had a real tough time in making it run in other windows OS (like it required .net framework libraries to be installed). This put me on the back foot because I had to copy a set of DLLs from one machine to another and most of the time something works some does not. And I am TOTAL amateur in writing windows based applications since my technological forte is mostly Java. Where to kick off? (like which tools/IDEs to begin with since I am seriously into writing my own utilities/tools). I am open to clarification should you guys feel my question is vague/blunt. Thanks.

• Restrict confirm message on page reload with f5

  In my JSP page I am using post method while submitting the page. So once I go from Page 1 to page 2. In Page 2, If I press F5 I am getting alert as "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier." I knew this question is a bit sarcastic but please give me an Idea. I can't change my method from POST to GET because I need to send large amount of data. Thanks in advance... Edited: In my Page1.JSP I call onClick function in that function I call action as "/page2servlet.do". Now, In Java side I use Spring Framework. With MVC Object I return to page2.jsp.   I found myself needing a simple generic interface, and I wrote it, but it turned out to be pretty much the world's simplest interface. I was wondering if it already exists by some other name. Does the structure of this interface look familiar to anyone? Have I reinvented something that is already standard? EDIT: I have a data object and a number of objects interested in receiving the data. Objects interested in receiving the data implement the interface, so that 'routing' lists and maps can send the data to them. The idea is full generalization in the routing, the routing will be data-driven.

• How to add javascript to YII correctly?

  I want to create several javascript function that will be needed on different pages. Most will be relevant only to one page, but some to several. I know if I add general conversion functions, it would be a good idea to just create a new javascript file and put all these generic functions into that one file. Bringing me to my first question: Where would you store the generic javascript file? In "protected"? Which subfolder? Then, I need to address the placement of other javascript code. If I have javascript that will only be used on one page, should I use this technique or should I stick to a similar approach as above? The emphasis is on doing it correctly. I want to fall exactly in line with the yii framework.

  How does OfType() Work? I read this link about what's going on but how exactly does the LINQ provider know how to get all objects matching the specified type. I know the IQueryable<T> "chains" up requests and then evaluates when GetEnumerator() is called (right?). Specifically I want to know how does the framework quickly do type comparison? I wrote a method in a .NET 2.0 project that went like this (since 2.0 doesn't support these kind of features): public IEnumerable<TResult> OfType<TResult>() where TResult : class { foreach (TItem item in this.InnerList) { TResult matchItem = item as TResult; if (matchItem != null) { yield return matchItem; } } } Is this the best implementation?

  I am working on a project where I am required to build a page somewhat similar to the one you see when you visit a website like blockbuster. When you click on browse more you are taken to a page with a bar on top with different page numbers and a drop down to select the number of pages you want to view on that page. I want to include a feature like that on my page but I am not sure where to start. In my page I have list of 200 items which I want to display page by page. I was suggested to use custom tags, but is there a more simpler or efficient way to create that functionality. My web application uses Spring MVC framework and is coded entirely in Java. • Is there any practical usage of Doubly Linked List, Queues and Stacks?

  I've been coding for quite sometime now. And my work pertains to solving real-world business scenarios. However, I have not really come across any practical usage of some of the data structures like the Linked List, Queues and Stacks etc. Not even at the business framework level. Of course, there is the ubiquitous HashTable, ArrayList and of late the List...but is there any practical usage of some of the other basic data structures? It would be great if someone gave a real-world solution where a Doubly Linked List "performs" better than the obvious easily usable counterpart.

• Visual Studio adds a circular reference when I drag and drop a user control from the Toolbox

  I have a user control C that is defined inside project P. C is present as a ".NET Framework Component" in my Visual Studio Toolbox. I open a form F (also defined inside project P) and drop C onto F. Once I do that drop, Visual Studio adds a reference under P pointing to P's own DLL. This is unnecessary and causes tons of build errors like The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties... after which it lists the exact same method twice. If I go into References and delete the added reference, it builds correctly. Can I prevent VS from adding this unnecessary reference?

  For example, if a request succeeds, I will return a View ,if not, return a String indicating error message and set the content-type to either xml or json. Based on what I read, seems like I should use "void" as the return type for handler methods. • Community based translating system

  Since we don't funds to hire translators for getting multiple languages translated we want the community to do the translation for us. Its a social network. I can't find any good open souce framework to auto do this. Thinking something like: User selects a language, system displays random sentences and user will translate it. Then other users can vote on how good it is. If it's 100 votes + with 95% yes then it becomes official. Site is in PHP. Any ideas?

• Are Domain Specific Languages (DSL) bad for the Common Programmer?

  I have lately been delving into F# and the new DSL stuff as in the Microsoft SQL Server Modelling CTP, and have some concerns. Will this new idea that will come about be bad for skilled programmers? Is code going to be dumbed down? I know I sound like a luddite, but this does worry me, after spending years of time practising in my craft, and now might be scuttled by genius from within. I am afraid, very afraid. Will I be now trapped in a job that only programs against a DSL and therefore every job that I work on, I have to learn a whole new DSL based on top of a Framework (.net Java), that I will only be allowed to touch certain parts of. I don't think the world is ready for DSL, but the sales pitch is deafening!

  I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?
