• Severe Tomcat crash has me stumped

  I'm pretty used to crashing my tomcat server. But I don't think I made any changes at all and seem to have broken it completely. Was working one min then not the next. • Push notification not received in ios5 device

  I am sending push notification on device which has iOS 5.0.1, but notification is not received on iOS5 device. If i try to send notification on iOS4.3.3 device, it received on this device. • Why doesn't PHP's oci_connect return false?

  I have a situation in which we have two production databases that synchronize with one other. Server One is considered the primary. Sometimes due to maintenance or a disaster Server Two will become primary. In some of our code that means we have to manually go in and edit the server name for database connections. I find this annoying, so the last thing I wrote I put the server information for both and set up a loop. If oci_connect failed on the Server One 3 times it would move on to Server Two. If Server Two failed 3 times it would notify the user a connection couldn't be made. This has worked fine most times we've had the situation of switching the servers. Yesterday, for example, it worked fine. Today it didn't. It just sat and spun endlessly. No error in the PHP error log. No failure to move on from. No error output to the screen. Nothing for 5 minutes. So then I had to manually edit the stupid config file. I asked what could possibly be different and I was told "yesterday the database was down, but not the server. today the server is down." Okay...? But I don't see a distinction. I would expect oci_connect to return false if it can't establish any sort of communication with the server. I'd expect it to timeout and error. Not just pass it on when it receives an error code from the server. What if there's a network problem, for example? Is this a bug in oci_connect or is there a possibility that something in our PHP configuration gives oci_connect a crazily long timeout? If it is a sort of "bug" is there some way I can check to see if the server is up first? Like a ping? (Of course when I did a ping through the command prompt I got a response from Server One and then was told, "it's back now" although I am skeptical about the timing on that.) However, when you open multiple instances of the client window and try to add a new record, the windows that is performing the insert operation crashes with the ExecuteReader error and the " requires an open and available connection. the connection's current state is connecting" bla bla stuff. • Best way to program a call to php

  I've recently posted here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2627645/accessing-session-when-using-file-get-contents-in-php about a problem I was having and the general consensus is that I'm not doing it right... while I generally think "as long as it works..." I thought I'd get some feedback on how I could do it better... I was to send the exact same email in the exact same format from multiple different areas. When a job is entered (automatically as a part of the POST) Manually when reviewing jobs to re-assign to another installer The original script is a php page which is called using AJAX to send the work order request - this worked by simply calling a standard php page, returning the success or error message and then displaying within the calling page. Now I have tried to use the same page within the automated job entry so it accepts the job via a form, logs it and mails it. My problem is (as you can see from the original post) the function file_get_contents() is not good for this cause in the automated script... My problem is that from an AJAX call I need to do things like include the database connection initialiser, start the session and do whatever else needs to be done in a standalone page... Some or all of these are not required if it is an include so it makes the file only good for one purpose... How do I make the file good for both purposes? I guess I'm looking for recommendations for the best file layout and structure to cater for both scenarios...   Hello, Im having an issue getting json working with the struts-jquery-plugin-2.1.0 I have included the struts2-json-plugin-2.1.8.1 in my classpath as well. Im sure that I have my struts-jquery-plugin configured correctly because the grid loads, but doesnt load the data its supposed to get from the action class that has been json'ized. The documentation with the json plugin and the struts-jquery plugin leaves ALOT of gaps that I cant even find with examples/tutorials, so I come to the community at stackoverflow. My action class has a property called gridModel thats a List with a basic POJO called Customer. Customer is a pojo with one property, id. I have a factory that supplies the populated List to the actions List property which i mentioned called gridModel. So what could be reason for this error? I have understood that j_spring_security_check is default url for Spring Security login chekeing servlet.

• C# ThreadPool QueueUserWorkItem Synchronization

  Greetings, I am employing ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem to play some sound files and not hanging up the GUI while doing so. It is working but has an undesirable side effect. While the QueueUserWorkItem CallBack Proc is being executed there is nothing to stop it from starting a new thread. This causes the samples in the threads to overlap. How can I make it so that it waits for the already running thread to finish running and only then run the next request? Thanks in advance :)

  I'm trying to call a third party webservice using WSE 3.0 as a client in Visual Studio 2005. The call works fine and I can see that I get a good response (I have tracing enabled), but apparently the xml parser chokes over it. I always get an InvalidOperationException: There is en error in the XML document. with an InnerException: The specified type was not recognized: name='Map', namespace='http://xml.apache.org/xml-soap', at <bevoegdheid xmlns=''>.   I'm using jqGrid with the filter toolbar, i need to set an initial default filter value to one of the fields so that only rows with status 'Open' are displayed by default, but the user can display Closed rows if desired. At the moment i have a workaround like this setTimeout(function() {$('#gs_Status').val('Open');$("#eventsGrid")[0].triggerToolbar()},500); but it results in a second request and is pretty bad really. Does anybody know how to do this?

I have tried the below by amending the urlscan.ini config file and doing and iisreset, but it doesn't block anything. Am I entering the correct strings?   hi i defined some routes in global handler as below routes.MapRoute("Root", "", new { controller = "Root", action = "Default" }); also i created specific controller called RootController which have Default actionResult and return some string. this works fine in vs built-in web-server but An unhandled exception occurred when i sent request rom iis. i'm running this in windows7 ultimate and iis 7.5 integrated-mode and have vs 2008 professional and mvc2 preview2. please help. thank's in advance

• jQuery AutoComplete select firing after change?

  I'm using the jQuery UI AutoComplete control (just updated to jQuery UI 1.8.1). Whenever the user leaves the text box, I want to set the contents of the text box to a known-good value and set a hidden ID field for the value that was selected. Additionally, I want the page to post back when the contents of the text box are changed. Currently, I am implementing this by having the autocomplete select event set the hidden id and then a change event on the text box which sets the textbox value and, if necessary, causes a post back. If the user just uses the keyboard, this works perfectly. You can type, use the up and down arrows to select a value and then tab to exit. The select event fires, the id is set and then the change event fires and the page posts back. If the user starts typing and then uses the mouse to pick from the autocomplete options though, the change event fires (as focus shifts to the autocomplete menu?) and the page posts back before the select event has a chance to set the ID. • Convert JSON to HashMap using Gson in Java

  Hi, I'm requesting data from a server which returns data in the JSON format. Casting a HashMap into JSON when making the request wasn't hard at all but the other way seems to be a little tricky. The JSON response looks like this: { "header" : { "alerts" : [ { "AlertID" : "2", "TSExpires" : null, "Target" : "1", "Text" : "woot", "Type" : "1" }, { "AlertID" : "3", "TSExpires" : null, "Target" : "1", "Text" : "woot", "Type" : "1" } ], "session" : "0bc8d0835f93ac3ebbf11560b2c5be9a" }, "result" : "4be26bc400d3c" } What way would be easiest to access this data?
