• Keyring Password, Unity in 11.10

  Login to 11.10 I input my password and shortly afterward I am asked for a keyring password. I realize that I was asked for this during installation (second time lucky!) and I did enter a password (what a mistaka to maka). This now entails my having to input the keyring password on every boot up! Looking at previous answers it would seem that the applications - accesories - password and encryption keys - was the suggested route. However I assume that was in Gnome (At this stage I look back in fondness!!!) Certainly, I don't get the same route in Unity! I saw a reference to seahorse in a terminal - but this results in several error reports and a sub windows which does not seem to open. The objective in this exercise is to log in using the login password and not also the keyring password! any help would be appreciated - thank you

• Create .deb form gambas2 project

  I have been working with Gambas 2 (the one in the software center), Actially I took the source code of other program and create a new program basen on that. But now that I finished, I can't create .deb files, gambas show me this error: La creación del paquete ha fallado. Package.MakeDebPackage.368: File or directory does not exist So I dont know what to do now, I really need this program. I tried with Gambas 3, but is too much work to do that the program based in Gmabas 2 works in Gambas 3, also I tried creating a .deb package and gambas get frozen. Please some help

• Learning curve regarding the transition from Windows to Linux from a Java developer perspective [closed]

  I am a Java developer who has worked on windows platform all through . Now I have shifted job and my new job requires me to do the development work in Red Hat Linux environment . The IDE they use is JDeveloper . I do not have any prior experience in Linux and JDeveloper . So what suggestion would you guys give me so that I can have a smooth and incremental transition from Windows to Linux ? I do not want to short circuit my learning curve . • Replace %26 in htaccess to %2526

  I would like htaccess to rewrite example.com/something_%26_else into example.com/something_%2526_else. I'm importing a bunch of pages that have ampersands in the title from Mediawiki. These are encoded as %26. Drupal, for various reasons, has decided double encode the url it to have it become %2526. I simply can't create the alisis within Drupal so I have to use htaccess This is what I have as my rule so far as RewriteRule ^w/([^%26]+)\%26(.*)$ w/$1\%2526$2 [R=301] I asked this question three months ago on stackexchange and was not able to get it working. I tried hiring a contractor for this but was unable to find one. So this my last ditch effort before I completely give up. I really appreciate the help. All the best, Patrick

Update: OK, in my ~/.profile I have this line: PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:$HOME/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages but if I remove this line then my Python 2.7 local packages (which I build from source) wont work Update 2: Everything seems to work perfect without $PYTHONPATH. I guess it was in my .profile file for nothing Please close this question

• Do employers hiring for Software jobs care about the classes you took in CS masters program?

  I'm torn between two classes right now for next semester( Software Design and Advanced Computer Graphics ). I would enjoy Advanced Computer Graphics more, but I feel the software design class would help me when approaching anything I ever build for the rest of my career. I feel though I could just buy the book( I already have both books actually ) of the Software Design class and go through it, if I wanted. But think it would be a bit tougher to pick up the Advanced Computer Graphics class on my own. So do employers look at the graduate classes you've taken to decide if you would be a good fit or not? I think more importantly what I'm wanting to know is if I wanted to work for a high-end software company like Apple or Google would a company like that be more impressed by someone that took software engineering classes or hardcore CS classes?

  Since today I can't see my contact list en empathy IM, using the MSN protocol. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, erasing all config files from my computer (using ubuntu tweak and erasing the config files from my /home folder), but nothing solve the problem Time ago people have the same problem, they're solved it changing a line in a script, but that bug was solved in latest versions of empathy. I've tried to change that script, using other lines. /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/papyon/service/description/SingleSignOn/RequestMultipleSecurityTokens.py I've changed the line CONTACTS = ("contacts.msn.com", "MBI") by the older one: CONTACTS = ("contacts.msn.com","?fs=1&id=24000&kv=7&rn=93S9SWWw&tw=0&ver=2.1.6000.1") But this no fix the bug In advanced options I have this (in empathy account options): Server: messenger.hotmail.com Port: 1863 How can I solve this? • Eclipse Juno, need root access everytime I change the configuration

  I am trying to install eclipse Juno on 12.04. I did all the things instructed in this link. But whenever I install any new software (Say CDT or Pydev) on Eclipse, the new softwares are gone upon opening the Eclipse app again. I then have to open Eclipse again with root privileges to install all the software. I also ran into many problems with linking the include library for Eclipse CDT. Can anyone help me with installing Juno in a way that I do not need root access every time I change configurations in Eclipse?

  In my Hp Pavillion dv6 6155-tx everything is working just fine except for the Bluetooth. I have pretty much tried every bluetooth software out there but none seems to work. It seems that the driver is not installed or something like that. When i search for new devices it just dont find any device and the vice versa. Please kindly help me ! • Game Maker Studio Gravity Problems

  I've started messing around with Game Maker Studio. The problem I'm having is trying to get a gravity code for orbiting.   I tried to install through boot through disk, but the windows set-up says there's no hard drive. The new ubuntu cd's i've made do not work. I can't update anything on old ubuntu. This is all due to my computer turning off during a recent version upgrade of ubuntu. Kernel error? idk. Going throught my computer, none of my media drivers are responsive, or cd writing drivers, and I guess I have no hard drive (only old ubuntu can read?). • Rendering skybox in first person shooter

  I am trying to get a skybox rendered correctly in my first person shooter game. I have the skybox cube rendering using GL_TEXTURE_CUBE_MAP. I author the cube with extents of -1 and 1 along X,Y and Z. However, I can't wrap my head around the camera transformations that I need to apply to get it right. My render loop looks something like this: mp_Camera-ApplyTransform() :: Takes the current player transformation and inverts it and pushes that on the modelview stack. Draw GameObjects Draw Skybox DrawSkybox does the following: glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_CUBE_MAP); glDepthMask(GL_FALSE); // draw the cube here with extents glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_CUBE_MAP); glDepthMask(GL_TRUE); Do I need to translate the skybox by the translation of the camera ? (btw, that didn't help either) EDIT: I forgot to mention: It looks like a small cube with unit extents. Also, I can strafe in/out of the cube. Screenshot:

  Please help me someone :) My notebook has Intel core i5 3337U CPU with Intel turbo boost. Under 12.04 the turbo boost is not working properly. It's frequency maximum is 1.8Ghz but the CPU can run 2.7GHz. I already have the boot order set up properly and the USB drive already has the ISO image downloaded onto it. I am ready for install but just do not know how to partition.   Can a loosely typed programming language like PHP be really considered object oriented? I mean, the methods don't have returning types and method parameters has no declared type either. Doesn't class design require methods to have a return type? Don't methods signatures have specifically-typed parameters? How can OOP techniques help you code in PHP if you always have to check the types of parameters received because the language doesn't enforce types? Please, if I'm wrong, explain it to me. When you design things using UML, then code classes in PHP with no return-typed methods and no-type parameters... Is the code really compliant with the UML design? You spend time designing the architecture of your software, then the compiler doesn't force the programmer to follow your design while coding, letting he/she assign any object variable to any other variable with no "type-mismatch" warning.

  Hello, I may have misunderstood Ubuntu One as a service, but this is how I had pictured it. At home, I tagged a few folders with the "Sync to Ubuntu One" tick and it started uploading. Now back at work, on Win7, I installed Ubuntu One and thought I was going to be able to tick which of the backed-up folders I could download/sync to this machine. From what I gather after a little research is that whatever I would like to synchronize would need to be in the Ubuntu One folder? There is no way to do this outside of that?   In case you didn’t notice, VS2010 adds a new property to assembly references in the properties window: Embed Interop Types: This property was introduced as a way to overcome the pain of deploying Primary Interop Assemblies. Read that blog post, it will help understand why you DON’T need it when doing VS extensibility (VSX) work. It's generally advisable when doing VSX development NOT to use Embed Interop Types, which is a feature intended mostly for office PIA scenarios where the PIA assemblies are HUGE and had to be shipped with your app. This is NEVER the case with VSX authoring. All interop assemblies you reference (EnvDTE, VS.Shell, etc.) are ALWAYS already there in the users' machine, and you NEVER need to distribute them.
