Make it so damned difficult to cancel your windows phone dev account subscription, that you will just give up trying and pay as the easy route out.Very sad that it has come to this. Usually I would not approach an open forum such as my site for such issues, but the sad state of their affairs leaves me with no choice. Here is the issue, last year, I opened a WPDev account, for which you have to pay. Seeing that its been a year, I haven’t submitted anything, I didn’t want to renew my account and pay the fee.   If you have been using VS2010 for any significant amount of time, you surely came across the awkward, slow and hard to use Add Reference dialog. Despite some (apparent) improvements over the VS2008 behavior, in its current form it's even LESS usable than before. A brief non-exhaustive summary of the typical grief with this dialog is: Scrolling a list of *hundreds* of entries? (300+ typically) No partial matching when typing: yes, you can type in the list to get to the desired entry, but the matching is performed in an exact manner, from the beginning of the assembly name.   I'm going through the Learning XNA 4.0 book, and unfortunately I installed XNA 4.0 refresh. All the code up until now has worked, with the exception of me needing to remove the Framework.Net and Framework.Storage. (As a side question, will this be problematic later?) The problem I'm having now is that in my Game1.cs file, I have imported all of the XNA.Framework libraries, and when I try and create instances of any of the following classes, an error pops up saying VisualStudio can't find them: AudiEngine, WaveBank, SoundBank, and Cue. I have googled around for a while, and the only solution I saw was to import Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Xact, but this doesn't seem to exist for me. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks Peter.

  Hi Folks, I've been working with SQLCMD mode again today and one thing about it always bites me. If I execute a script like: ::CONNECT SERVER1 SELECT @@VERSION; ::CONNECT SERVER2 SELECT @@VERSION; ::CONNECT SERVER3 SELECT @@VERSION; I'm sure I'm not the only person that would be surprised to see all three SELECT commands executed against SERVER3 and none executed against SERVER1 or SERVER2.   I am an looking at a few different supplemental learning courses to help me beef up my skills but unsure which one to use. I am interested in PluralSight because I work for the government and they use all Microsoft technologies for the most part. I like the courses on PluralSight but the price tag is pretty hefty. I am not sure how good the courses are because I cannot view the ones I want so I am a tad bit skeptical. I am sure some of you have PluralSight, do you think its a good investment for your learning or should I just stick with books/internet? Any suggestions?

• Is it possible to sync two computers without storing the files on a server?

  I have a family member currently using Windows live mesh to sync a relatively large amount of files between computers. It is way over the Ubuntu One 5 GB limit and the Live Mesh 2 GB limit. However, Live Mesh gives him the options of syncing all the data he wants without storing it on Microsoft's servers. Does Ubuntu One have an equivalent option, performing just the sync computer-to-computer and not computer-to-server and server-to-computer? Do you have other recommendations? It does not necessarily have to be Ubuntu One, but I need it to be cross platform, working across Windows and Ubuntu. We also have computers outside of uour home network we need to sync to. This is one of the few things keeping him from switching to Ubuntu, and I'd be very grateful for any help.

  Our latest BizTalk Server 2010 development project is utilising BizTalk as the integration ring around a new and sizable implementaion of Dynamics AX 2012. With this project we have decided to use BAM to monitor the processes within our various new applications.Although I have been specialising in BizTalk for around 9 years, this is my first time using BAM so it is an interesting process to be going through.Recently when deploying a solution I was attempting to check the BAM Portal to see that the View that I had created was properly deployed and that the Activity I was populating was being surfaced in the Portal as expected. Initially I was presented with the message "No view to display" in the "My Views" area of the BAM Portal landing page.This was because you need to set the permissions on the views that you want to see from the command line using the bm.exe tool:bm.exe add-account -AccountName:YourServerOrDomain\YourUsername -View:YourViewThis tool can be found in the BAM folder at the BizTalk installation location:C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\Tracking

• "From the Coal Face" - 1 - What ILDASM can reveal!

  In a place far, far away, there was a project where the Architect decided on using embedded TSQL in a Dot Net application, rather than use stored procedures. I located ILDASM.EXE (my Framework 3.5 version lives at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin on my home development PC) and created a shortcut to it in the SendTo folder. Now I could set about doing a simple demonstration to the Architect by taking one of the Dot Net EXE's with the embedded TSQL and sending it to ILDASM.  Since I had written most of the embedded TSQL, it was a matter of seconds before I located the embedded TSQL within the Exe. The TSQL that was supposed to be safely hidden within the EXE was easily located and and copied. (It should also be noted that we could have encrypted the stored procedures on loading them to the database.)

• Convert each slide to PNG with LibreOffice Impress in terminal with excel graph

  I need to convert each slide in a powerpoint presentation to a PNG with the command line. I have tried to convert it to a PDF then to individual PNGs but the images haven't exported properly. These images are graphs originally from Microsoft Excel. If I export it as a PNG from within LibreOffice the graph exports properly, but not if I convert it to a PDF first using unoconv or the export tool in LibreOffice Impress. Here is a couple of examples, in impress: As you can see the image works. But when this is exported to PDF it looks like: So whats going wrong? As if its directly exported to PNG in libreoffice it looks exactly as is in the presentation. Also if I convert it to the LibreOffice file format this also happens.
