    I was thinking of working on a project while I have some free time and this one looks pretty nice: http://mindprod.com/project/filefinder.html One thing I'm wondering about is that will it really be much faster compared to the regular windows search if I use SQL? I'm planning to use MySQL since it's open source. Also, do I need to be good at databases for this? I have basic knowledge about relational databases and can definitely make some SQL statements.   • Error when creating ASP.NET website in Visual Studio

    I'm trying to learn ASP.NET. I open Visual Studio (this happens in both 2008 and 2010) and creating a new ASP.NET website using .NET 3.5. When I attempt to run the website, a FireFox page opens up and tells me that it can't establish a connection to the server (localhost:####). There's no helpful error message, just "cannot connect." What could be causing this?

    Is it possible to force the call out bubble to be open all the time? I tried putting the following code in didAddAnnotionViews: for (id<MKAnnotation> currentAnnotation in mapView.annotations) { [mapView selectAnnotation:currentAnnotation animated:NO]; } Which works, however, when I single tap the MKMapView the bubble disappear. I want to avoid this behavior.

  • Tunnel over HTTPS

    At my workplace, the traffic blocker/firewall has been getting progressively worse. I can't connect to my home machine on port 22, and lack of ssh access makes me sad. I was previously able to use SSH by moving it to port 5050, but I think some recent filters now treat this traffic as IM and redirect it through another proxy, maybe. That's my best guess; in any case, my ssh connections now terminate before I get to log in. These days I've been using Ajaxterm over HTTPS, as port 443 is still unmolested, but this is far from ideal. (Sucky terminal emulation, lack of port forwarding, my browser leaks memory at an amazing rate...) I tried setting up mod_proxy_connect on top of mod_ssl, with the idea that I could send a CONNECT localhost:22 HTTP/1.1 request through HTTPS, and then I'd be all set. Sadly, this seems to not work; the HTTPS connection works, up until I finish sending my request; then SSL craps out. It appears as though mod_proxy_connect takes over the whole connection instead of continuing to pipe through mod_ssl, confusing the heck out of the HTTPS client. Is there a way to get this to work? I don't want to do this over plain HTTP, for several reasons: Leaving a big fat open proxy like that just stinks A big fat open proxy is not good over HTTPS either, but with authentication required it feels fine to me HTTP goes through a proxy -- I'm not too concerned about my traffic being sniffed, as it's ssh that'll be going "plaintext" through the tunnel -- but it's a lot more likely to be mangled than HTTPS, which fundamentally cannot be proxied Requirements: Must work over port 443, without disturbing other HTTPS traffic (i.e. I can't just put the ssh server on port 443, because I would no longer be able to serve pages over HTTPS) I have or can write a simple port forwarder client that runs under Windows (or Cygwin) Edit DAG: Tunnelling SSH over HTTP(S) has been pointed out to me, but it doesn't help: at the end of the article, they mention Bug 29744 - CONNECT does not work over existing SSL connection preventing tunnelling over HTTPS, exactly the problem I was running into. At this point, I am probably looking at some CGI script, but I don't want to list that as a requirement if there's better solutions available.

    On https://www2.eiffel.com/download/download_info.aspx?id=eiffelstudio&info=false&mirrors=eiffelstudio you can download the IDE "eiffelstudio". They have GPL as their license but they also specify that "The GPL version is for the purpose of developing open-source software only! If you want to evaluate EiffelStudio for commercial software development, please download our Enterprise Evaluation Edition." However as far as i know this is directly against the gpl. Can they really specify such restrictions while adhering to the GPL?

  • Access external xml using xslt document function return 401

    On MOSS2007, I have a webpart that display the content of a xml feed. I use a xslt with parameters for transforamtions. There is a situation when I receive a 401 Authorisation exception. I realize that this happen when a document() function from my xslt try to open an external xml. If I try to open this xml in browser all work ok. I provided my admin credentials to the web part and to the XmlSecureResolver. Same problem. The webpart is on server1 and the xml feed and external xml required by xslt is on server2.   • How do I substitute an xsd when using dom4j?

    I'm using dom4j to load an xml file which references an xsd. If the xml file references the xsd http://foo/bar.xsd, how can I tell dom4j to instead use an xsd file located in the classpath? I was hoping that I could open an inputstream to the local xsd and then pass that to dom4j to use when it encounters that url. The next best thing would be to just have dom4j use an alternate url that could point to a local file like file:///c:/foo/bar.xsd.

  • Darwin Streaming Server doesn't gives content

When i'm trying to open some stream, for ex. rtsp://sample.com/sample_100kbit.mp4 player reports it can't load stream and breaks connection. "Access History" section reports file was requested, so, at least initial connection is working, but nothing more. What can be wrong and what to check?

  • Why does Font.registerFont throw an error the second time a swf is loaded?

    I've found an issue (in flash cs5) when using TLFTextfields and fonts shared at runtime, and I wondered if anyone has a solution. Here's the scenario. Fonts.swf: library for fonts (runtime shared DF4) Popup.swf: popup with a TLFTextfield (with text in it) using a font from Fonts.swf Main.swf : the main swf with a button that loads and unloads Popup.swf (using Loader or SafeLoader give the same results) Nice and simple, Run main.swf, click button and the popup appears with the text. Click the button again to remove the popup. All well and good now click the button again and I get the following error. ArgumentError: Error #1508: The value specified for argument font is invalid. at flash.text::Font$/registerFont() at Popup_fla::MainTimeline()[Popup_fla.MainTimeline::MainTimeline:12] I'm presuming it's happening because the font is already registered (checked when clicking before the load). Does anyone know how to get past this?     Hi What is the recommended way to transfer files via FTP and manage (rename, move, delete) files in an FTP server programmatically in a Windows Scripting Host script file (JavaScript/VBScript)? Preferably without requiring 3rd party ActiveX add-ons since these "extra" software will need to go through an approval process that will take a very long time, even for free (as in beer) and/or open source components. The script is going to be run in a Windows 2003 Server in data center environment. Thanks.

  • Python form POST using urllib2 (also question on saving/using cookies)

    I am trying to write a function to post form data and save returned cookie info in a file so that the next time the page is visited, the cookie information is sent to the server (i.e. normal browser behavior).   • NSDocument Subclass not closed by NSWindowController?

    Okay, I'm fairly new to Cocoa and Objective-C, and to OOP in general. As background, I'm working on an extensible editor that stores the user's documents in a package. This of course required some "fun" to get around some issues with NSFileWrapper (i.e. a somewhat sneaky writing and loading process to avoid making NSFileWrappers for every single document within the bundle). The solution I arrived at was to essentially treat my NSDocument subclass as just a shell -- use it to make the folder for the bundle, and then pass off writing the actual content of the document to other methods. Unfortunately, at some point I seem to have completely screwed the pooch. I don't know how this happened, but closing the document window no longer releases the document. The document object doesn't seem to receive a "close" message -- or any related messages -- even though the window closes successfully. The end result is that if I start my app, create a new document, save it, then close it, and try to reopen it, the document window never appears. With some creative subclassing and NSLogging, I managed to figure out that the document object was still in memory, and still attached to the NSDocumentController instance, and so trying to open the document never got past the NSDocumentController's "hmm, currently have that one open" check. I did have an NSWindowController and NSDocumentController instance, but I've purged them from my project completely. I've overridden nearly every method for NSDocument trying to find out where the issue is. So far as I know, my Interface Builder bindings are all correct -- "Close" in the main menu is attached to "performClose:" of the First Responder, etc, and I've tried with fresh unsullied MainMenu and Document xibs as well. I thought that it might be something strange with my bundle writing code, so I basically deleted it all and started from scratch, but that didn't seem to work. I took out my init method overrides, and that didn't help either. I don't have the source of any simple document apps here, so I didn't try the next logical step (to substitute known-working code for mine in the readfromurl and writetourl methods). I've had this problem for about sixteen hours of uninterrupted troubleshooting now, and needless to say, I'm at the end of my rope. If I can't figure it out, I guess I'm going to try the project from scratch with a lot more code and intensity based around the bundle-document mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
