• Accessing Instance Attributes from Secondary Thread (iPhone-SDK)

  I have a class with an NSDictionary attribute. Inside this class I dispatch another thread to handle NSXMLParser handling. Inside my -didStartElement, I access the dictionary in the class (to compare an element found in the XML to one in the dictionary). At this point I get undefined results. Using NSLog (I'm not advanced in XCode debugging), I see that it bombs around access of the NSDictionary. I tried just iterating the dictionary and dumping the key/values inside the didStartElement and this bombs at different keys each time. The only thing I can conclude is that something is not kosher that I'm doing with regards to accessing main thread attributes from the secondary thread. I'm somewhat new to multithreading and am not sure what the best protocol is safely access attributes from additional threads. Thanks all.

  i am using visual studio team system 2008 and VSS 2005. I took a latest copy of a project from VSS. Now when i try to open that project, it is showing error "This version of visual studio does not support source control" and " Unexpected error enocountered. Restart the application Error : no such interfaces are supported File : vsee\internal\vscomptr.inl". When i open solution explorer, all projects are showing as unavailable. I tried VS--Tools--options-- source control--plugin selection and set plug in to Microsoft "Visual source safe" and when i open "Environment" tab it is showing "an error occured while loading this property page" Can someone help me???

  I just installed the POCO Template for EF4. I have a single entity in my model, AnnouncementText, and the T4 files seem to be properly generated. Attempting to access this new entity is throwing the following error when I access the auto-generated property MyObjectContext.AnnouncementTexts: InvalidOperationException: Mapping and metadata information could not be found for EntityType 'MyNamespace.AnnouncementText'. The properties on the AnnouncementText POCO seem to match up with the columns in the database, and I haven't changed any of the auto-generated code.   I have a command binding on the main form of my application. It is used to open details of the item that i am viewing. It has an associated keyboard shortcut. When i use the command in sub-forms i pass the object i want to open details for as a CommandParameter. This works if i attach the command to a button or a context menu, as i can specify the command parameter with a binding. However when the command is invoked as a result of a Keyboard shortcut i never get the chance to specify the parameter. How can i specify the command parameter at the sub-form level for a keyboard fired command. I need the CommandBinding with the CanExecute and Execute specified on the main form to globally handle all the open details events.

Context: I'm working on an app that requires accessing the memory of other processes on the current machine. This, obviously, requires administrator rights. It also requires SeDebugPrivilege, which I believe myself to be acquiring correctly, although I question if more privileges aren't necessary and thus the cause of my problems. Code has so far worked successfully on all versions of Windows XP, and on my test Vista32 and Win7x64 environments. Process: Program will Always be run with Administrator Rights. This can be assumed throughout this post. Escalating the current process's Access Token to include SeDebugPrivilege rights. Using EnumProcesses to create a list of current PIDs on the system Opening a handle using OpenProcess with PROCESS_ALL_ACCESS access rights Using ReadProcessMemory to read the memory of the other process. Problem: Everything has been working fine during development and my personal testing (including Windows XP 32 & 64, Windows Vista 32, and Windows 7 x64). However, during a test deployment onto both Windows Vista(32-bit) and Windows 7(64-bit) machines of a colleague, there seems to be a privilege/rights problem with OpenProcess failing with a generic Access Denied error. This occurs both when running as a limited User (as would be expected) and also when run explicitly as Administrator (Right-click Run as Administrator and when run from an Administrator level command prompt). However, this problem has been unreproducible for myself in my test environment. I have witnessed the problem first hand, so I trust that the problem exists. The only difference that I can discern between the actual environment and my test environment is that the actual error is occurring when using a Domain Administrator account at the UAC prompt, whereas my tests (which work with no errors) use a local administrator account at the UAC prompt. It appears that although the credentials being used allow UAC to 'run as administrator', the process is still not obtaining the correct rights to be able to OpenProcess on another process. I am not familiar enough with the internals of Vista/Win7 to know what this might be, and I am hoping someone has an idea of what could be the cause. The Kicker: The person who has reported this error, and who's environment can regularly reproduce this bug, has a small application named along the lines of RunWithDebugEnabled which is a small bootstrap program which appears to escalate its own privileges and then launch the executable passed to it (thus inheriting the escalated privileges). When run with this program, using the same Domain Administrator credentials at UAC prompt, the program works correctly and is able to successfully call OpenProcess and operates as intended. So this is definitely a problem with acquiring the correct privileges, and it is known that the Domain Administrator account is an administrator account that should be able to access the correct rights. (Obviously obtaining this source code would be great, but I wouldn't be here if that were possible). Notes: As noted, the errors reported by the failed OpenProcess attempts are Access Denied. According to MSDN documentation of OpenProcess: If the caller has enabled the SeDebugPrivilege privilege, the requested access is granted regardless of the contents of the security descriptor. I sent it to my phone via Bluetooth, but when I try to open the wgt file on my phone it says it can't open it, because it doesn't know the filetype. • Eject disk on Mac Pro running VMWare ESXi

  I'm almost embarrassed to ask this, but I'm stuck. I installed VMWare ESXi on a Mac Pro. It's working great! The problem is that you press F12 to eject the disk, and F12 is what you use to shutdown ESX. I can power down, open the case, pull out the CD drive and use a paper clip to force the drawer open, but that's kind of a pain. Any other way to do this?

  Hello everybody, I get this error every time I open IE8 in Win7, and a popup appear which says: this tab has been recovered and it close open the tab that I can't even surf a page (any page) with IE8, and after a while it crashes and close the program with no such an obvious error, I tried these methods to solve the problem but it doesn't work: 1.Reset Internet Explorer settings 2.Run IE without Add-ons 3.Scanned system for viruses with Eset Smart sercurity 4, there was no viruses. • Set up basic Windows Authentication to connect to SQL Server 2008 from a small, trusted network

  I'm guessing that this is documented somewhere on Microsoft's site, but thus far I haven't found it. I'm trying to set up a Windows Server 2008 box to have SQL Server 2008 with Windows Authentication (Mixed Mode, actually, but anyway) for work. We have a number of client machines that will need access to the databases, and I would like to keep configuration as simple as feasible. Here's what I've done so far: Install SQL Server 2008 selecting Mixed Mode Create a new 'Standard' (rather than Administrator) Windows login entitled "UserLogin" (with intent to use it as the access account) Create an SQL Server Login for Server\UserLogin and assign it 'Windows Authentication' Log in as UserLogin, check that I'm able to connect to SQL Server using WIndows Authentication, then log out again Start on the first client (Windows XPSP2, SQL Server 2005): Run C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr Click "Add", enter the server name in the box, Server\UserLogin in the Username, and UserLogin's password in the Password field. Click "Ok" then "Close" Attempt to access SQL Server 2005 using Windows authentication. Succeed. Confetti! Start on the second client (Windows 7, SQL Server 2008): Run C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr Click "Add", enter the server name in the box, Server\UserLogin in the Username, and UserLogin's password in the Password field. Click "Ok" then "Close" Attempt to access SQL Server 2008 using Windows authentication. Receive an error "Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication" Assume that this translates to "You can't have two connections from the same account" (Yes, I know that doesn't make sense, but I'm a bit like that) Go back to the server, create a second Windows account, give it SQL Server rights. Go back to the second client, create a new passkey for the second login, try logging in again. Continue to receive the same error. Is this all overly complex and there's an easy way to do what I'm trying to accomplish? Or am I missing some ultra-obvious step that would make everything behave as desired? Most of the stuff that's coming up when I try to Google seems to be along the lines of "My ASP.NET application isn't working!", which obviously isn't all that much use.

• Prevent Windows 7 User Accounts from accessing files in other User Accounts

  I'm trying to set up another User Account on my Windows 7 Professional laptop for use by another person. I do not want that person to have access to any of the files in my User Account on the same machine. This machine has a single hard disk formatted with NTFS. User accounts data is stored in the default location, C:\Users. I use the computer with a Standard Account (not an Administrator). Let's call my user account "User A." I have given the new user a Standard Account. Let's call the new user's account "User B." To be clear, I want User B to have the ability to log in to her account, to use the computer, but to be unable to access any of the files in the User A account on the same machine. Currently, User B cannot use Windows Explorer to navigate to the location C:\Users\User A. However, by simply using Windows Search, User B can easily find and open documents saved in C:\Users\User A\Documents. After opening a document, that document's full path appears in "Recent Places" in Windows Explorer, and the document appears as a file that can be opened using the "Recent" feature in Word 2010. This is not the desired behavior. User B should not have the ability to see any documents using Windows Search or anything else. I have attempted to set permissions using the following procedure. Using an Administrator account, navigate to C:\Users and right-click on the "User A" folder. Select "Properties." In the "User A Properties" window that appears, click the "Security" tab. Click the "Edit..." button to change permissions. IN the "Permissions for User B" window that appears, under "Group or User Names," select User B. Under "Permissions for User B", check the box under the "Deny" column for the "Full Control" row. Ensure that the "Deny" box is automatically checked for all the other rows, and then click "OK." The system should then begin working. The process could take several minutes. When I followed this procedure, I received several "Access Denied" errors, suggesting that the system was unable to set the permissions as I had directed. I think this might be one of the reasons why User B is still able to access files in User A's account folders. Is there any other way I could accomplish my goal here? Thank you.

• Can't connect to server using lftp

  I have a lftp file that I want to execute using the following command lftp -f /usr/scripts/fileS.lftp If I run this file I get Delaying before reconnect: Now within this file (fileS.lftp) I have the following code open -u username,password server mput -E * close If I run open -u username,password server I get the following error Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console I assume I need to allow a connection on the server I'm trying to connect to, how can I do this? • Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

  I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. For privacy/security reasons, names have been changed to the following: domain.com = Our Top Level Domain. email.local = Our Exchange Server. example.com = ANY other TLD.
