  You will write a program that evaluates the integral of sin(x) using the left-hand rectangle rule with 2000 subintervals, over 10 intervals. The intervals to test are [0, 1), [1, 2), …, [8, 9), [9, 10). You will declare an array of type double that can hold 10 elements, and you will use this array to hold all 10 results you get from evaluating each interval. I am in testing my code, what should be the output? For example, [0, 1)? Any idea? Thanks.

  Hi there people, I am currently relearning Ocaml and am in the need of a good editor. There is a new editor from OcamlForge: OCamlEditor http://ocamleditor.forge.ocamlcore.org/. Prerequisite for installation is Lablgtk2. Installing Lablgtk2 on windows is not straight forward and there is good instruction here: http://wwwfun.kurims.kyoto-u.ac.jp/soft/lsl/install-win32.txt I have completed the first two steps and in the third step, as warned, it is failing on the native code version. This is where I am left stranded. How do I check to see if the assembler is on my path? What am I missing here? Please help me move forward from this point. Sincere thanks. Animesh

  I'd like to clean up some directories after my script runs by deleting certain folders and files from the current directory if they exist. Originally, I structured the script like this: if (Test-Path Folder1) { Remove-Item -r Folder1 } if (Test-Path Folder2) { Remove-Item -r Folder2 } if (Test-Path File1) { Remove-Item File1 } Now that I have quite a few items listed in this section, I'd like to clean it up. • Scrollable display of multiple video icons

  Hello, I want to have multiple video icons at the top my website's front page. I will have about 20 or so which won't fit on one line (I want to keep the videos on one like) so I thought of having two button on the right of the group and on the left of the group where you click to scroll and view more videos. Do you know an easy way to do this? I can pass in the video links from the server in different Divs or anyway that will make it easy. I thought of using AJAX and pass it different set every time from the server with every click (I'm using Rails and it's fairly easy to do it) but that will be an extra load on the server which I'm trying to avoid. I'd rather send all the icons at once and let the JavaScript handle the scrolling. I thought of using iFrame but I don't like the idea of scrollbar and wanted to be more like button Any ideas? • Best way to remove CSS rounded-corner halo?

  I'm getting a tiny rounded corner halo effect that I'd like to get rid of. In this example, look for the effect in the red circle. I seem to recall a while back reading an article on just this problem. Anyone have a link to that article? Otherwise, any good ways to get rid of the halo? It is being caused because the dl has all four corners rounded. This allows the bottom of the dl to be rounded. The dt sits over the dl and has its top left and top right corners rounded. But there is a slight overflow of the dl curve behind the dt curve, causing the halo. My solution is to increase the border-radius of the dl so that it is hidden behind the dt corner. But it seems like a hack and adds a fair amount more CSS. I'm wondering if there is a better solution.

• Formula for producing a CGRect for a UIScrollView, that displays a UIImage in scaled to fit way

  Hi I am loading in images with varying sizes and putting them in UIScrollViews, all the images are larger than the UIScrollView. The user can scroll and zoom as they please, but initially I would like for the image to be centered and scaled so the largest side of the image aligns with the edge of the scrollView, i.e. if the picture is in landscape I would like to size and scale it so that the left and right side goes all the way to the edge of the UIScrollVIew and vice versa I found a formula in a utility function in the Programming guide but it does not quite fit my needs. My approach is to use: CGrect initialPos = ? [self.scrollView zoomToRect:initialPos animated:YES]; I know the size of my scrollView and the size of my image, what I need to figure out is the scale and CGRect to apply to the scrollView to center and size my image. • Private Cloud: Putting some method behind the madness

  Finally, I decided to join the blogging community. And what could be a better time to start than the week after OpenWorld 2012. 50K+ attendees, demonstrations, speaker sessions and a whole lot of buzz on Oracle Cloud..It was raining clouds in this year's Openworld. I am not here to write about Oracle's cloud strategy in general, but on Enterprise Manager's cloud management capabilities. This year's Openworld was the first after we announced the 12c Cloud Control and we were happy to share the stage with quite a few early adopters. Stay tuned for videos from our customers and partners, I will post them as they get published. I met a number of platform administrators in Oracle-DBAs, Middleware Admins, SOA Admins...The cloud has affected them all, at least to the point where it beckoned more than just curiosity..Most IT infrastructure are already heavily virtualized (on VMWare and on others including Oracle VM), and some would claim they are already on “cloud” (at least their Sysadmins told them so). But none of them were confident of the benefits because their pain points continued to grow.. Isn't cloud supposed to ease those? Instead, they were chasing hundreds of databases running on hundreds of VMs, often with as much certainty propounded by Heisenberg. What happened to the age-old IT discipline around administration, compliance, configuration management? VMs are great for what they are. I personally think they have opened the doors to new approaches in which an application stack gets provisioned and updated. In fact, Enterprise Manager 12c is possibly the only tool out there that can provision full-fledged application as VM Assemblies. In this year's Openworld, customers talked on how they provisioned RAC and Siebel assemblies, which as the techies out there know, are not trivial (hearing provisioning time for Siebel down from weeks to hours was gratifying indeed). However, I do have an issue with a "one-size fits all" approach to cloud. In a week's span, I met several personas: Project owners requiring an EC2 like VM instance for their projects Admins needing the same for Sparc-Solaris. DBAs requiring dedicated databases for new projects APEX Developers needing just a ready-to-consume schema as a service Java Developers looking for a runtime platform QA engineers needing a fast clone of their production environment If you drill down further, you will end up peeling more layers of the details. For example, the requirements for Load testing and Functional testing are very different. For Load testing the test environment should ideally be the same as the production. You shouldn't run production on Exadata and load test on a VM; they will just not be good representations of one another. For Functional testing it does not possibly matter. DBAs seem to be at the worst affected of the lot. It seems they have been asked to choose between agile provisioning and  faster runtime performance. And in some cases, it is really a Hobson's choice, because their infrastructure provider made no distinction between the OLTP application and the Virtual desktop! Sad indeed. When one looks at the portfolio of services that we already offer (vanilla IaaS, VM Assembly based PaaS, DBaaS) or have announced (Java PaaS, Instant Cloning, Schema-aaS), one can possibly think that we are trying to be the "renaissance man" ! Well I would have possibly digested that had it not been for the various personas that I described above. Getting the use cases right is very important for an application such as cloud management. We iterate and iterate over these over and over again and re-validate them in CABs (Customer Advisory Boards). We consider over the major aspects of tenancy: service placement, resource isolation (can a tenant execute an expensive SQL and run away with all the resources), quota and security. We, in Engineering, keep reminding ourselves that we are dealing with enterprise clouds. We owe it to our customer base ! In the coming posts, I will drill down more into each of the services. • Why Is my UISlider Thumb Image Being Shown Multiple Times and Not Disappearing As They Should?

  This slider is possessed: When I move the slider thumb left or right, it leaves the original image there (creating an extra image). This doesn't happen every time and the only consistency i've noticed is that it's inconsistent. When the table is in "Editing mode" it is more likely to create a duplicate thumb image, but it also does so in regular mode. • Looking for C# framework for plotting scientific data: 2d/3d ...

  I need to visualize some scientific calculations. I generally prefer reusing code if there is already a good available instead of inventing wheels each time, that's why I am asking. I need a C# code to draw charts (just outputting a bitmap is ok) of 2d (y=f(x)) and 3d (z=f(x,y)) digital data sets (where any axis can be float, int or datetime), sometimes combined. If I go here and click 3D in the navigation bar on the left, there I can see what I need. But the cheapest version costs $759 there, looks scary for a hobby project of an east-european student :-(

• How to easily pass a very long string to a worker process under Windows?

  My native C++ Win32 program spawns a worker process and needs to pass a huge configuration string to it. Currently it just passes the string as a command line to CreateProcess(). The problem is the string is getting longer and now it doesn't fit into the 32K characters limitation imposed by Windows. Of course I could do something like complicating the worker process start - I use the RPC server in it anyway and I could introduce an RPC request for passing the configuration string, but this will require a lot of changes and make the solution not so reliable. Saving the data into a file for passing is also not very elegant - the file could be left on the filesystem and become garbage. What other simple ways are there for passing long strings to a worker process started by my program on Windows?

  I have a DIV with position:absolute inside another with position:relative. But the inside DIV is flowing out of the other and positioning it self based on the browser not the containing DIV. Any ideas why this is happening?   My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController. • How do I get the co-ordinates of a mouse click on a transformed WPF control?

  I'm playing with a simple WPF application. One part of it includes a grid containing several controls. The grid is rotated using a LayoutTransform and a RotateTransform. I need to get the co-ordinates of a mouse-click relative to the top-left of the grid, taking the rotation into account. To be clear, let's say I have a single drawing surface within the grid and no transform had been applied. I then click at location X = 20, Y = 10 and put a dot on the drawing surface at that point. If the grid is now rotated by 30 degrees and I click on the dot (which is also moved by the rotation), the click position should still be X = 20, Y = 10.

• WPF UserControl Embedded Animation

  Hi all, I have a UserControl called Beetle.xaml which has animation makeing the legs move. So far so good. I added this to my Background.xaml page by decaring the xmlns and xaml as: xmlns:my="clr-namespace:Intellident.Liber8.GUI.Theme.Jungle" and <my:Beetle VerticalAlignment="Bottom" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="180,0,0,175"> <UserControl.RenderTransform> <MatrixTransform x:Name="trnBeetle" /> </UserControl.RenderTransform> </my:Beetle> However I get errors telling me that I can't declare my:Name as I'm in the wrong scope. I can't declare my:Name as this doesn't exist. How do I do this, I want to create a path animation on the beetle to make him walk around... Ta, Matt. EDIT: THought I'd point out that both Beetle.xaml and Background.xaml live in Intellident.Liber8.GUI.Theme.Jungle namescope.

  I have a dimension (SiteItem) has two important facts: perUserClicks perBrowserClicks however, within this dimension, I have groups of dimensions based on an attribute column (let's call the groups AboveFoldItems, LeftNavItems, OnTheFlyItems, etc.) each have more facts that are specific to that group: AboveFoldItems: eyeTime, loadTime LeftNavItems: mouseOverTime OnTheFlyItems: doesn't have any extra, but may in the future Is the following fact table schema ok? DateKey SessionKey SiteItemKey perUserClicks perBrowserClicks eyeTime loadTime mouseOverTime It seems a little wasteful since only some columns pertain to some dimension keys (the irrelevant facts are left NULL). But... this seems like it would be a common problem, so there should be a common solution for this, right?

  Hello, I need to parse a text file that has a lot of levels and characters. I've been trying different ways to parse it but I haven't been able to get anything to work. • How are people popping their UINavigationController stacks under a UITabBarController?

  I have four UINavigationControllers assigned each to a tab in a UITabBarController. Each UINavigationController manages a UIViewController, which may itself branch out into other UIViewControllers below it hierarchally. My question is, in a case in which a user, under one tab, has navigated to a UIViewController that hierarchally BELOW the main UIViewController managed by the UINavigationController, and then the user pushes a different tab, and then goes back to the original tab, HOW can I make it so that the user is presented with the main UIViewController managed by the UINavigation controller? and not the page where he left off?
