• Problem with bluetooth on android 2.1 (samsung spica i5700) where pairing works but connection does

  I have a Samsung Spica i5700 which I already have updated to Android 2.1. I am using the phone with an application called Run.GPS (http://www.rungps.net). This application logs data such as GPS position, route, speed, bearing etc. It can also log heartrate provided the user has a Zephyr HxM bluetooth heart rate monitor ("HxM"), which I do have. I can pair the HxM to the phone through the standard bluetooth utility. I'm prompted for the PIN, which I enter and the device is shown as 'Paired but not connected'. In the Run.GPS application itself, I click on 'Connect Heartrate Monitor'. This times out after about 30 seconds and the error message is 'Could not connect to heartrate monitor. Please try other settings'. I used a friend's HTC Windows Mobile as a control device to see if the HxM works there. It does. The Run.GPS application automatically sets the baud rate (initially to 9600 IIRC, though the connection also worked with higher baud rates) and it is possible to choose between various COM ports as well as a .Net COM port. I did some testing on my Spica Android, to try to find out why the bluetooth connection doesn't work. Below are some log files that I connected over adb when I clicked on 'Connect to Heartrate Monitor' in the Run.GPS application. I would be interested in any tips (including if I'm posting to the wrong forum here ;-)) - whether or not it's possible to experiment with the baud rate in Android etc. I still don't know if the problem is with the Run.GPS application (I've posted already on the development forum there) or with Android 2.1. I checked out another application - Endomondo - which is also a sport tracking application which supports heartrate monitor only with the HxM. There, what looked like exactly the same error occurred - I clicked on 'Connect Zephyr HxM'. For a few seconds I was shown the 'Connecting...' status, but then it timed out into 'Not Connected'. I'm thus tending towards looking at Android for the problem. • SignalR Server Error "The ConnectionId is in the incorrect format." with SignalR-ObjC Library

  Before asking a separate question I've done lots of googling about it and added a comment in the already existing stackoverflow question. I have a SignalR Hub (tried both v. 1.1.3 and 2.0.0-rc) in my server with the below code: [HubName("TestHub")] public class TestHub : Hub { [Authorize] public void TestMethod(string test) { //some stuff here Clients.Caller.NotifyOnTestCompleted(); } } The problem persists if I remove the Authorize attribute. • WPF CommandParameter is NULL first time CanExecute is called

  I have run into an issue with WPF and Commands that are bound to a Button inside the DataTemplate of an ItemsControl. The scenario is quite straight forward. The ItemsControl is bound to a list of objects, and I want to be able to remove each object in the list by clicking a Button. The Button executes a Command, and the Command takes care of the deletion. The CommandParameter is bound to the Object I want to delete. That way I know what the user clicked. A user should only be able to delete their "own" objects - so I need to do some checks in the "CanExecute" call of the Command to verify that the user has the right permissions. The problem is that the parameter passed to CanExecute is NULL the first time it's called - so I can't run the logic to enable/disable the command. However, if I make it allways enabled, and then click the button to execute the command, the CommandParameter is passed in correctly. So that means that the binding against the CommandParameter is working. The XAML for the ItemsControl and the DataTemplate looks like this: <ItemsControl x:Name="commentsList" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=SharedDataItemPM.Comments}" Width="Auto" Height="Auto"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Button Content="Delete" FontSize="10" Command="{Binding Path=DataContext.DeleteCommentCommand, ElementName=commentsList}" CommandParameter="{Binding}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> So as you can see I have a list of Comments objects. I want the CommandParameter of the DeleteCommentCommand to be bound to the Command object. So I guess my question is: have anyone experienced this problem before? CanExecute gets called on my Command, but the parameter is always NULL the first time - why is that? Update: I was able to narrow the problem down a little. I added an empty Debug ValueConverter so that I could output a message when the CommandParameter is data bound. Turns out the problem is that the CanExecute method is executed before the CommandParameter is bound to the button. I have tried to set the CommandParameter before the Command (like suggested) - but it still doesn't work. Any tips on how to control it. Update2: Is there any way to detect when the binding is "done", so that I can force re-evaluation of the command? Also - is it a problem that I have multiple Buttons (one for each item in the ItemsControl) that bind to the same instance of a Command-object? • Fluent NHibernate: mapping complex many-to-many (with additional columns) and setting fetch

  I need a Fluent NHibernate mapping that will fulfill the following (if nothing else, I'll also take the appropriate NHibernate XML mapping and reverse engineer it). DETAILS I have a many-to-many relationship between two entities: Parent and Child. That is accomplished by an additional table to store the identities of the Parent and Child. However, I also need to define two additional columns on that mapping that provide more information about the relationship. However, the SQL that NHibernate is generating is inefficient. When I access parent.Children, NHIbernate does a SELECT * FROM ParentChildRelationship WHERE parent_id = 1 and then a SELECT * FROM Child WHERE id = ? for each child in each relationship. I understand why NHibernate is doing this, but I can't figure out how to set up the mapping to make NHibernate query the way I mentioned above.

• iPhone UIButton addTarget:action:forControlEvents: not working

  I see there are similar problems posted here, but none of the solutions work for me. Here goes: I have a UIButton instance inside a UIView frame, which is positioned within another UIView frame, which is positioned in the main window UIView. To wit: UIWindow --> UIView (searchView) --> UISearchBar (findField) --> UIView (prevButtonView) --> UIButton (prevButton) --> UIView (nextButtonView) --> UIButton (nextButton) So far, so good: everything is laid out as I want it. However, the buttons aren't accepting user input of any kind. I am using the UIButton method addTarget:action:forControlEvents: and to give you an idea of what I'm doing, here's my code for nextButton: nextButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_on.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateDisabled]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [nextButton addTarget:self action:@selector(nextResult:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The method nextResult: never gets called, the state of the button doesn't change on touching, and there's not a damned thing I've been able to do to get it working. I assume that there's an issue with all these layers of views: maybe something is sitting on top of my button, but I'm not sure what it could be. The way I worked around this was to do a StreamReader.ReadToEnd, then do Regex.Replace on the result of that to yank out the script block, before passing the modified string to XmlReader.Create(). Feels like a hack. Has anyone got a better approach? I don't like this because I have to read in a 125k string into memory. Is it valid rss to include "complex content" like that - a script block inside an element?

• Can't connect to WCF service on Android

  I am trying to connect to a .NET WCF service in Android using kSOAP2 (v 2.1.2), but I keep getting a fatal exception whenever I try to make the service call. I'm having a bit of difficulty tracking down the error and can't seem to figure out why it's happening. In summary, the first problem was the program being unable to open a connection due to missing methods or libraries due to using vanilla kSOAP2 rather than a modified library for Android (kSOAP2-Android). The second issue was a settings issue.   Hi All, I'm currently struggling with this "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute" issue. I have searched about this error message, and it's all related to the foreach statement. I do have the some foreach statements, but they are just simply representing the data. I did not using any remove or add inside the foreach statement. NOTE: The error randomly happens (about 4-5 times a day). The application is the MVC website. There are about 5 users operate this applications (about 150 orders a day). Could it be some another users modified the collection, and then occur this error? I have log4net setup and the settings can be found here Make sure that the controller has a parameterless public constructor I do have parameterless public constructor in AdminProductController Does anyone know why this happen and how to resolve this issue? A friend (Oskar) mentioned that "Theory: Maybe the problem is that your configuration and session factory is initialized on the first request after application restart. • Subclassed django models with integrated querysets

  Like in this question, except I want to be able to have querysets that return a mixed body of objects: >>> Product.objects.all() [<SimpleProduct: ...>, <OtherProduct: ...>, <BlueProduct: ...>, ...] I figured out that I can't just set Product.Meta.abstract to true or otherwise just OR together querysets of differing objects. Fine, but these are all subclasses of a common class, so if I leave their superclass as non-abstract I should be happy, so long as I can get its manager to return objects of the proper class. The query code in django does its thing, and just makes calls to Product(). Sounds easy enough, except it blows up when I override Product.__new__, I'm guessing because of the __metaclass__ in Model... • Scheduling runtime-specified Activity in Workflow 4 RC

  Hi, so I have this requirement to kick off Activities provided to me at run-time. To facilitate this, I have set up a WorkflowService that receives Activities as Xaml, hydrates them, and kicks them off. Receive Activity accepts a custom type, [DataContract] public class Workflow { [DataMember] public string Xaml { get; set; } } which contains a string whose contents are to be interpreted as Xaml. You can see the VB expression that then converts this Xaml to an Activity and passes it on. Now this second bit, the custom InvokeActivity is where I have questions. First question: 1) given an arbitrary task, provided at runtime [as described above] is it possible to kick off this Activity using Activities that ship with WF4RC, out of the box? The problematic activity named 'DynamicActivity' was provided by the activity named 'InvokeActivity'. Right, so the "dynamic" Activity provided at runtime is not a member of InvokeActivitys metadata. Googled and came across this. Couldn't sort out how to specify an InArgument<Activity> to metadata cache, so my second question is, naturally, how does one address this issue? Is it ill advised to use context.ScheduleActivity (...) in this manner? • Hook IDispatch v-table in C++

  I'm trying to modify the behavior of an IDispatch interface already present in the system. To do this my plan was to hook into the objects v-table during runtime and modify the pointers so it points to a custom hook method instead. If I can get this to work I can add new methods and properties to already existing objects. Nice. First I tried hooking into the v-table for IUnknown (from which IDispatch inherits from) and that worked fine. However trying to change entires in IDispatch doesn't work at all. Nothing happens at all, the code works just as it did without the hook. I can obviously do this with Min and Max aggregates easily but the ranges overlap and other business code expect non-overlapping ranges. I also tried to achieve this with self joins and row_number(), but without much success... • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware? • XNA - Keyboard text input

  Okay, so basically I want to be able to retrieve keyboard text. Like entering text into a text field or something. I'm only writing my game for windows. I've disregarded using Guide.BeginShowKeyboardInput because it breaks the feel of a self contained game, and the fact that the Guide always shows XBOX buttons doesn't seem right to me either. Yes it's the easiest way, but I don't like it. Next I tried using System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow. I created a class that inherited from it, and passed it the Games window handle, implemented the WndProc function to catch WM_CHAR (or WM_KEYDOWN) though the WndProc got called for other messages, WM_CHAR and WM_KEYDOWN never did. So I had to abandon that idea, and besides, I was also referencing the whole of Windows forms, which meant unnecessary memory footprint bloat. So my last idea was to create a Thread level, low level keyboard hook. This has been the most successful so far. I get WM_KEYDOWN message, (not tried WM_CHAR yet) translate the virtual keycode with Win32 funcation MapVirtualKey to a char. And I get my text! (I'm just printing with Debug.Write at the moment) A couple problems though. It's as if I have caps lock on, and an unresponsive shift key. (Of course it's not however, it's just that there is only one Virtual Key Code per key, so translating it only has one output) and it adds overhead as it attaches itself to the Windows Hook List and isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, but the slowness could be more due to Debug.Write. Has anyone else approached this and solved it, without having to resort to an on screen keyboard? or does anyone have further ideas for me to try? thanks in advance. note: This is cross posted from the XNA Creators Forums, so if I get an answer there I'll post it here and Vice-Versa Question asked by Jimmy Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but why can't you use the XNA Keyboard and KeyboardState classes? My comment: It's because though you can read keystates, you can't get access to typed text as and how it is typed by the user. So let me further clarify. I want to implement being able to read text input from the user as if they are typing into textbox is windows. The keyboard and KeyboardState class get states of all keys, but I'd have to map each key and combination to it's character representation. This falls over when the user doesn't use the same keyboard language as I do especially with symbols (my double quotes is shift + 2, while american keyboards have theirs somewhere near the return key).

• NSObjectController confusion binding to a class property. Help!

  Hi, I'm teaching myself cocoa and enjoying the experience most of the time. I have been struggling all day with a simple problem that google has let me down on. I have read the Cocoa Bindings Program Topics and think I grok it but still can't solve my issue. I have a very simple class called MTSong that has various properties. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. • Toolbar items in sub-nib

  This question has probably been asked before, but my google-fu must be inferior to everybody else's, cause I can't figure this out. I'm playing around with the iPhone SDK, and I'm building a concept app I've been thinking about. If we have a look at the skeleton generated with a navigation based app, the MainWindow.xib contains a navigation controller, and within that a root-view controller (and a navigation bar and toolbar if you play around with it a little). The root-view controller has the RootViewController-nib associated with it, which loads the table-view. So far so good. To add content to the tool bar and to the navigation bar, I'm supposed to add those to in the hierarchy below the Root View Controller (which works, no problem). However, what I can't figure out is, this is all still within the MainWindow.xib (or, at runtime, nib). How would I define a xib in order for it to pick up tool bar items from that? I want to do (the equivalent of, just reusing the name here) RootViewController *controller = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; and have the navigation controller pick-up on the tool bar items defined in that nib. The logical place to put it would be in the hierarchy under File's Owner (which is of type RootViewController), but it doesn't appear to be possible. Currently, I'm assigning these (navigationItem and toolbarItems) manually in the viewDidLoad method, or define them in the MainWindow.xib directly to be loaded when the app initializes. Any ideas? Edit I guess I'll try to explain with a picture. This is the Interface Builder of the main window, pretty much as it comes out of the wizard to create a navigation based project. I've added a toolbar item for clarity though. You can see the navigation controller, with a toolbar and a navigation bar, and the root view controller. Basically, the Root View Controller has a bar button item and a navigation item as you can see. The thing is, it's also got a nib associated with it, which, when loaded will instantiate a view, and assign it to the view outlet of the controller (which in that nib is File's Owner, of type RootViewController, as should be). How can I get the toolbar item, and the navigation item, into the other nib, the RootViewController.nib so I can remove them here. The RootViewController.nib adds everything else to the Root View Controller, why not these items? The background for this is that I want to simply instantiate RootViewController, initialize it with its own nib (i.e. initWithNibName:nil shown above), and push it onto the navigation controller, without having to add the navigation/toolbar items in coding (as I do it now).
