  Please take a look at this below line of code in JSF <h:inputText id="name" value="#{customer.name}" /> Quote from java.sun.com For an initial request of the page containing this tag, the JavaServer Faces implementation evaluates the #{customer.name} expression during the render response phase of the lifecycle. During this phase, the expression merely accesses the value of name from the customer bean, as is done in immediate evaluation. For a postback request, the JavaServer Faces implementation evaluates the expression at different phases of the lifecycle, during which the value is retrieved from the request, validated, and propagated to the customer bean. I am not sure I understand initial request vs postback request. Does the client browser make two different request to the webserver?

• Populating Tcl Treeview with Sqlite Data

  Hello: I am building a Tcl application that reads off of a Sqlite Db. Currently, I can enter data into the database using the Tcl frontend. Now, I am trying to figure out how to display the data within the Sqlite Db from the Tcl frontend. After a little bit of research, I found that the treeview widget would work well for my needs. I now have the following code: set z1 [ttk::treeview .c1.t1 -columns {1 2} -show headings] $z1 heading #1 -text "First Name" $z1 heading #2 -text "Last Name" proc Srch {} {global z1 sqlite3 db test.db pack $z1 db close } When the "Srch" procedure is executed (button event), the treeview (z1) appears with the headings First Name and Last Name. Additionally, the Sqlite Db gets connected, then closes. I wanted to add code that would populate the treeview from the Sqlite Db between connecting to the Db and packing the treeview (z1). Does anyone know the correct syntax to populate a Tcl treeview with data from Sqlite? Thank you everyone in advance, DFM

• Philosophy of [WebInvoke(ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)]

  Hi everyone, I'm writing what I'm referring to as a POJ (Plain Old JSON) WCF web service - one that takes and emits standard JSON with none of the crap that ASP.NET Ajax likes to add to it. It seems that there are three steps to accomplish this: Change to in the endpoint's tag Decorate the method with [WebInvoke(ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] Add an incantation of [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] to the service contract This is all working OK for me - I can pass in and am being returned nice plain JSON. If I remove the WebInvoke attribute, then I get XML returned instead, so it is certainly doing what it is supposed to do. But it strikes me as odd that the option to specify JSON output appears here and not in the configuration file. Say I wanted to expose my method as an XML endpoint too - how would I do this? Currently the only way I can see would be to have a second method that does exactly the same thing but does not have WebMethodFormat.Json specified. Then rinse and repeat for every method in my service? Yuck. Specifying that the output should be serialized to JSON in the attribute seems to be completely contrary to the philosophy of WCF, where the service is implemented is a transport and encoding agnostic manner, leaving the nasty details of how the data will be moved around to the configuration file. Is there a better way of doing what I want to do? Or are we stuck with this awkward attribute? Or do I not understanding WCF deeply enough?

  I've created a simple WCF service but when I use Visual Studio to add a service reference, this error comes up. The message with Action '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to a ContractFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. This may be because of either a contract mismatch (mismatched Actions between sender and receiver) or a binding/security mismatch between the sender and the receiver. Check that sender and receiver have the same contract and the same binding (including security requirements, e.g. Message, Transport, None). • Using depends with the jQuery Validation plugin

  I've got a form with a bunch of textboxes that are disabled by default, then enabled by use of a checkbox next to each one. When enabled, the values in these textboxes are required to be a valid number, but when disabled they don't need a value (obviously). I'm using the jQuery Validation plugin to do this validation, but it doesn't seem to be doing what I expect. When I click the checkbox and disable the textbox, I still get the invalid field error despite the depends clause I've added to the rules (see code below). Oddly, what actually happens is that the error message shows for a split second then goes away. • WCF "The server did not provide a meaningful reply"

  I am out of ideas here, so I'm hoping someone can help. Here is what I've got: A WCF service that only has a basicHttpBinding endpoint. There is only a service interface, all other [DataMember], [FaultContract] are concrete types. When I run it straight from Visual Studio (using WCF Test Client or my custom app) everything works (I send a request and get a response). This usually takes a second or two. I published it to an IIS 6 server. I can successfully open http://server/WebService/WebService.svc?WSDL I can successfully open http://server/WebService/WebService.svc/mex (same output as above) The WCF Test Client and my custom app can successfully add the service reference Whenever I try to call a service method it waits for about 15 seconds and I get the dreaded "no meaningful reply" error. I ran Fiddler and I got a 202 result, which would seem like a success. It's not returning more than 65536 bytes It's returning an array, but it is small I tried remote debugging, but can't get that to work, probably due to a firewall (but port 80 is open, I can get the WSDL) I enabled system.diagnostics, nothing. I have an IErrorHandler which normally logs things, nothing. Here's the endpoint config: <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" contract="Enterprise.IMyService" bindingNamespace="http://ourdomain.com/MyService/"> <identity> <dns value="localhost" /> </identity> </endpoint> Anything else I can try? It's probably a simple setting somewhere, but I can't figure it out.

  I'm trying to get the connections in linkedIn using their API, but when I try to retrieve the connections I get a 401 unauthorized error. in the official documentation says You must use an access token to make an authenticated call on behalf of a user Make the API calls You can now use this access_token to make API calls on behalf of this user by appending "oauth2_access_token=access_token" at the end of the API call that you wish to make. The API call that I'm trying to do is the following Error -- http://api.linkedin.com/v1/people/~/connections:(id,headline,first-name,last-name)?format=json&oauth2_access_token=access_token I have tried to do it with the following endpoint without any problems. OK -- https://api.linkedin.com/v1/people/~:(id,first-name,last-name,formatted-name,date-of-birth,industry,email-address,location,headline,picture-urls::(original))?format=json&oauth2_access_token=access_token this list of endpoints for the connections API are described here http://developer.linkedin.com/documents/connections-api I just copied and pasted one endpoint from there, so the question is what's the problem with the endpoint for getting the connections? what am I missing?   Hello I am testing a project, using Vaadin and Hibernate. I am trying to use the HbnContainer class to show data into table. The problem is that I do not want to show all the properties of the two classes in the table. For example: @Entity @Table(name="users") class User { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; @ManyToOne(cascade=CascadeType.PERSIST) private UserRole role; //getters and setters } and a second class: @Entity @Table(name="user_roles") class UserRole { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; //getters and setters } Next, I retrieve my data using the HbnContainer, and connect it to the table: HbnContainer container = new HbnContainer(User.class, app); table.setContainerDataSource(container); The Table will only display the columns from User, and for the "role" it will put the role id instead. How can I hide that column, and replace it with the UserRole.name ? I managed to use a ColumnGenerator() to get the string value in the table, for the UserRole - but I couldn't remove the previous column, with the numerical value. What am I missing? Or, what is the best way to "customize" your data, before displaying a table (if i want to show data in a table from more than one object type.. what do I do?) If I can't find a simple solution soon, I think I will just build the tables "by hand".. So, any advice on this matter? Thank you, Alex

All the areas are working fine, however I have noticed that if I change the project name of the Accounts project to say Areas.Accounts, that it wont find any of my views within the accounts project due to the Area name not being the same as the project name e.g. the accounts routes.cs file still has this: public override string AreaName { get { return "Accounts"; } } Does anyone know why I would have to change it to this: public override string AreaName { // Needs to match the project name? get { return "Areas.Accounts"; } } for my views in the accounts project to work? I would really like the AreaName to still be Accounts, but for ASP.net MVC to look in the "Views\Areas\Areas.Accounts\" folder when its all munged into one project, rather than trying to find it within "View\Areas\Accounts\" Thanks Mark

I really do hope that this question doesn't canned, but if it does, please be so kind as to point me in the direction of where it should be posted. I have an idea, like so many others, for a web app. I don't necessarily have the capital to outsource the development of the app right now, and I probably wouldn't want to, since non-disclosure agreements can be expensive to enforce, especially in this day and age of intercontinental outsourcing. I need the app to be usable on any mobile device (eventually), primarily on the major mobile platforms at first, on the web, (pc/mac/*ix) obviously, on mobile web browsers like opera mobile, etc. I envisage the app interacting with the major social networks like fb, orkut, msn im, twitter, et al in a way where friend's are messaged and/or wall posted, a message is posted to the users wall. Geo-location functionality is a plus, considering the service/app can be location sensitive in two ways, 1, the immediate location of the user, 2. the desired location of the user. I'd like to incorporate OpenID sign on, and the flip-side, the service will require that people (service providers) list their specialities/specialisations/interests/areas of expertise, so that matches to user requests can be made by the service, while users' requests are posted into the web universe. I've probably described a glut of apps out there, but I'd appreciate feedback on the sort of platform that I should look at using, be it hosted on something like Google's app engine, or written in android friendly code, or whatever. I'm a firm believer in herd mentality, especially at the start of a project that I have very little experience in. The more opinions, the merrier! • jQuery Autocomplete using extraParams to pass additional GET variables

  I am referring specifically to the jQuery Autocomplete v1.1 plugin by Jörn Zaefferer [source: http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/] as there seems to be quite a few variations of this plugin. I'm trying to pass additional parameters to the server when the user starts typing because I have multiple fields that I want autocomplete to provide suggestions for. In addition to the query, I want to send the input name attribute to the server but I can't seem to use $(this).attr('name') within the extraParams. Can I name or create a reference to my gridview either from c# or XAML so I can use the above code?   Hi, I just need to have the a small CMS-like controller. • XNA Xbox 360 Content Manager Thread freezing Draw Thread

  I currently have a game that takes in large images, easily bigger than 1MB, to serve as backgrounds. I know exactly when this transition is supposed to take place, so I made a loader class to handle loading these large images in the background, but when I load the images it still freezes the main thread where the drawing takes place. Since this code runs on the 360 I move the thread to the 4th hardware thread, but that doesn't seem to help. Below is the class I am using.
