• How to set the size of multiple buttons on content

  I am using three buttons along with the list view.These three buttons are added to the layout using the TableLayout and TableRow.The first button takes more space on content, so the other two becomes smaller in size than first one. When the application runs, it doesn't even show the two other buttons. How can I make the size of three buttons equal and display all of them when application runs?Give me some example please. • NullPointerException while trying to bind at SimpleCursorAdapter

  I have asked a question before where i found my mistake. However now i am facing with another problem. I have checked all the similar errors asked on StackOverflow but without success.Any help is appriciated. The idea here is that i am getting image names from DB so depending on those names images from Drawable folder will be shown in a listView together with a description but im getting an error of NullPointException at setViewValue. But it stops at imageImageView.setImageResource(imgResourceIds[i]); To see from where that NullPointerException is coming, i commented out imageImageView.setImageResource(imgResourceIds[i]);. This time imageNames(those with a TAG) and imgResourceIds(those system printed out) came correctly but doubled, when i removed cursor.MoveToNext() last row were doubled. Here is the screen shot of that: I have tried all the suggestions on stack about gettin a NullException but without success. Any idea where i am doing mistake?

• ASP.NET MVC Paging/Sorting/Filtering using the MVCContrib Grid and Pager

  This post walks you through creating a UI for paging, sorting and filtering a list of data items. It makes use of the excellent MVCContrib Grid and Pager Html UI helpers. A sample project is attached at the bottom. Our UI will eventually look like this. The application will make use of the Northwind database. The top portion of the page has a filter area region. The filter region is enclosed in a form tag. The select lists are wired up with jQuery to auto post back the form. The page has a pager region at the top and bottom of the product list. The product list has a link to display more details about a given product. The column headings are clickable for sorting and an icon shows the sort direction. Strongly Typed View Models The views are written to expect strongly typed objects. We suffix these strongly typed objects with ViewModel since they are designed specifically for passing data down to the view.  The following listing shows the ProductViewModel. This class will be used to hold information about a Product. We use attributes to specify if the property should be hidden and what its heading in the table should be. This metadata will be used by the MvcContrib Grid to render the table. We have a container class called ProductListContainerViewModel which has nested classes. The ProductPagedList is of type IPagination<ProductViewModel>. The MvcContrib expects the IPagination<T> interface to determine the page number and page size of the collection we are working with. You convert any IEnumerable<T> into an IPagination<T> by calling the AsPagination extension method in the MvcContrib library. It also creates a paged set of type ProductViewModel. The ProductFilterViewModel class will hold information about the different select lists and the ProductName being searched on. It will also hold state of any previously selected item in the lists and the previous search criteria (you will recall that this type of state information was stored in Viewstate when working with WebForms). With MVC there is no state storage and so all state has to be fetched and passed back to the view. The GridSortOptions is a type defined in the MvcContrib library and is used by the Grid to determine the current column being sorted on and the current sort direction. The following shows the view and partial views used to render our UI. The Index view expects a type ProductListContainerViewModel which we described earlier. <%Html.RenderPartial("SearchFilters", Model.ProductFilterViewModel); %> <% Html.RenderPartial("Pager", Model.ProductPagedList); %> <% Html.RenderPartial("SearchResults", Model); %> <% Html.RenderPartial("Pager", Model.ProductPagedList); %> The View contains a partial view “SearchFilters” and passes it the ProductViewFilterContainer. The SearchFilter uses this Model to render all the search lists and textbox. The partial view “Pager” uses the ProductPageList which implements the interface IPagination. The “Pager” view contains the MvcContrib Pager helper used to render the paging information. This view is repeated twice since we want the pager UI to be available at the top and bottom of the product list. The Pager partial view is located in the Shared directory so that it can be reused across Views. The partial view “SearchResults” uses the ProductListContainer model. This partial view contains the MvcContrib Grid which needs both the ProdctPagedList and GridSortOptions to render itself. The Controller Action An example of a request like this: /Products?productName=test&supplierId=29&categoryId=4. The application receives this GET request and maps it to the Index method of the ProductController. You have seen how to use strongly typed views with the MvcContrib Grid and Pager to render a clean lightweight UI with strongly typed views. You also saw how to use partial views to get data from the strongly typed model passed to it from the parent view. The code also shows you how to use jQuery to auto post back. • What user-friendly term should I use for a view that lives under a tab in a tab bar app?

  My app uses a tab bar controller. In the user documentation, I'm not sure what name to use for a view that lives under a tab. For example, the app has a Settings tab. In the user documentation, I have a sentence that goes something like this: This threshold can be adjusted in the Settings tab. "Settings tab" is not terribly user-friendly. What would be a better term than "tab"? I've looked though Apple's Human Interface Guideline, but I can't find what would be the official user-friendly term for "view that lives under a tab".

• Should your client be able to view your project management board?

  We're making a bespoke software for our client and use Codebase for our project management. Is it a good idea to let our client view our project management board? The advantages that we thought of are that this would enhance the cooperation between the client and the dev team, following agile practices. He would essentially become part of our team. It would also reduce communication overhead and make sure we're on the same page. The client could track the progression of the system and make suggestions along the way on the user stories. In addition, he could submit bugs or feature requests. The disadvantages that we though of are that some aspects of the board might be too technical to the client. He would suggest changes to the user stories too often and he might view some content that we normally wouldn't want our client to see. For example, when we compromise on technology or functionality, the client might question that and insist on doing things one way or the other.

• projective geometry: how do I turn a projection of a rectangle in 3D into a 2D view

  So the problem is that I have a 3D projection of a rectangle that I want to turn into 2D. That is I have a photo of a sheet of paper laying on a table which I want to transform into a 2D view of that sheet. So what I need is to get an undistorted 2D image by reverting all the 3D/projection transformations and getting a plain view of the sheet from the top. I happened to find some directions on the subject but they don't suggest an immediate instruction on how this can be achieved. It would be really helpful to get a step-by-step instruction of what needs to be done. Or, alternatively, a link on a resource that breaks it down to little details. Thank you

  Assume I have abstract base model class called MoneySource. And two realizations BankCard and CellularAccount. In MoneysSourceListViewController I want to display a list of them, but with ListItemView different for each MoneySource subclass. What if I define a category on MoneySource @interface MoneySource (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass; @end And then override it for each concrete sublcass of MoneySource, returning suitable view class. @implementation CellularAccount (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass { return [BankCardListView class]; } @end @implementation BankCard (ListItemView) - (Class)listItemViewClass { return [CellularAccountListView class]; } @end so I can ask model object about its view, not violating MVC principles, and avoiding class introspection or if constructions. • How can I set view preferences to sorted by reverse date modified?

  I'd like to permanently set Nautilus's view preferences to show files sorted in reverse by date modified (newest first). Similar questions have been asked before: How can I sort files in Nautilus by modified date? Can I view my files sorted by date? However, they don't address making the preference permanent. Nautilus's preferences allow you to set sort by date modified (oldest first), but not reverse date modified (newest first). Does anyone have suggestions on setting sorted by reverse date modified as default?

  Microsoft has recently launched Razor view engine with ASP.NET MVC RC2. It’s going to be promising one. There are lots of features bundled with this view engine. But in earlier version of ASP.NET 3 MVC. We were are not having Synatx intellisense provided for asp.net mvc views  in Visual Studio 2010. So either we have to depend third party tools like Resharper or we have to manage it without intellisesnse. But with ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 Microsoft has moved one step forward and its providing syntax intellisense without installing any third party addons in Visual Studio. Here is example of it. • Eclipse w/ ADT, Save Failed Illegal Value -1

  I'm trying to save and run my android project in eclipse, but every time I do, I get a pop up with the following message/error: Save Failed, Illegal Value -1. I'm not sure why i'm getting this error; I did just make some changes but none of them were extreme or major and it was working just a bit ago. The worst part is that i'm not receiving any kind of pointer, console or logcat, towards what is causing it. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what can I do? Thanks in advance!

  We started a new project and the nature of the project is very interactive and a Rich UI is required. We would need a set of controls that would require for Rich UI development. I found Obout while googling. I never heard about them and never seen fellow members telling me such name except Telerik, ComponentOne, NetAdvantage. These are the famous names we heard but no this one. But, the controls give a positive feeling. But as two things matter always when you are buying some services: How good are their customer support? and How much feasible their price is? Another, How quickly they release patches/updates? As, what if we find a bug or an error during development what will gonna happen? Do they provide a quick solution for this? I hope you understand my query. I'm bit confused making a decision here. • How can I place a SurfaceView inside one or more scrollviews ?

  Hello, I'm making a 2D game for Android and I've encountered the following problem: - I have made a class that extends SurfaceView and draws my graphics (the size of the canvas that I use has to be 1664x864). This is ofcourse too big for the screen so I needed scrolling, I chose to use google's ScrollView and HorizontalScrollView (nested) for this, But whenever I add my SurfaceView to a ScrollView (whether it's 1 or 2) via AddChild it only draws the ScrollView , SurfaceCreated() isn't even called on the SurfaceView. (Drawing the SurfaceView in a layout without adding it to a ScrollView does work.) I realize that there are other options for scrolling like a screen-sized canvas and bitmap offsets but this would really be my preferred way to go. I would really appreciate some help to make this work.

  I get an error when build static lib with NDK on Windows platform: process_begin: CreateProcess( "PATH"\android-ndk-r8b\toolchains\arm-linux-androideabi-4.6\prebuilt\windows\bin\arm-linux-androideabi-ar.exe, "some other commands" ) failed. make (e=87): The parameter is incorrect. make: *** [obj/local/armeabi-v7a/staticlib.a] Error 87 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... All source files build successfully, and this error occur when compose object files. I don't get this error when build this project in Ubuntu, it occur only on Windows. I suppose I found the issue: second parameter of CreateProcess Win API function lpCommandLine has max length 32,768 characters. But in my case it is more than 32,768 characters. How I can solve this issue?

  Disk Utility in OSX easily mounts an SD Card image as a device, but not so the other img files. I want to get the database I just created in the Android Emulator off the drive and into my osx file system. I updated my system with qemu using macports but no combination I try succeeds. Anyone figured out how to do this? Obviously one way I can do this is run the app on my phone than mount the phone as a USB drive. But I don't wanna. I wanna get it off the drive the emulator uses :-) Thanks in advance, folks. Michael

• Handle existing instance of root activity when launching root activity again from intent filter

  Hi, I'm having difficulties handling multiple instances of my root (main) activity for my application. My app in question has an intent filter in place to launch my application when opening an email attatchment from the "Email" app. My problem is if I launch my application first through the the android applications screen and then launch my application via opening the Email attachment it creates two instances of my root activity. steps: Launch root activity A, press home Open email attachment, intent filter triggers launches root activity A Is it possible when opening the Email attachment that when the OS tries to launch my application it detects there is already an instance of it running and use that or remove/clear that instance?
