Hello In my current company, i am doing a PoC on how we can write a file downloader utility. We have to use socket programming(TCP/IP) for downloading the files. One of the requirements of the client is that a file(which will be large in size) should be transfered in chunks for example if we have a file of 5Mb size then we can have 5 threads which transfer 1 Mb each. I have written a small application which downloads a file. Small Explanation what this file does This class finds the size of the file to be fetched from Sender Depending upon the size of the file it finds the start and end position till the bytes needs to be read. It starts n number of threads giving each thread start,end, sequence number and a list which all the threads share. Each thread reads the number of bytes and creates a ByteArrayWrapper. ByteArrayWrapper objects are added to the list Then i have while loop which basically make sure that all threads have done their work finally it sorts the list based on the sequence number. then the bytes are joined, and a complete byte array is formed which is converted to a file. In this code i am not able to see the benefit. 2) How should i decide how many threads should i create ? 3) Are their any opensource libraries which does that 4) The file which file receiver receives is valid and not corrupted but checksum (i used FileUtils of common-io) does not match. Whats the problem? 5) This code gives out of memory when used with large file(above 100 Mb) i.e. because byte array which is created. How can i avoid? I know this is a very bad code but i have to write this in one day -:). Please suggest any other good way to do this? Thanks Shekhar

HELP!! Delayed-job: Rake aborted! Can't modify frozen hash

Too bad even the trace doesn't say which hash is involved. Sorry this post is long: am trying to provide enough context to be meaningful. Occurs intermittently when rake jobs:work is pulling a command out of delayed_jobs while my status observer is in the process of parsing a log file for detailed results of the previous delayed_job denizen. I have an observer class (in RAILS_ROOT/lib ) which listens for the events, makes a copy of them and calls the owner class ( in apps/models ) which then calls on the log parser (also in /lib) to do the actual work. (Should both of those classes, the observer and the parser be in app/models?) Am due to deliver this application in a few days and this is killing it (and me). Am using DirectoryWatcher to look for flag files that indicate the start and finish of the delayed_jobs. Scrolling an HTML 5 page using JQuery

In this post I will show you how to use JQuery to scroll through an HTML 5 page.I had to help a friend of mine to implement this functionality and I thought it would be a good idea to write a post.I will not use any JQuery scrollbar plugin,I will just use the very popular JQuery Library. PHP Templated site w/ file_get_content links

Ok so i have a template script my friend built for me. I'll include all file names OK so what is not working is file_get_contents is not grabing the content (1 I don't know where the content should be placed and 2 i want it placed in a directory so that IF i change the template the area where content stays is the same. NullPointerException, Collections not storing data?

Hi there, I posted this question earlier but not with the code in its entirety. The coe below also calls to other classes Background and Hydro which I have included at the bottom. I have a Nullpointerexception at the line indicate by asterisks. Which would suggest to me that the Collections are not storing data properly. Although when I check their size they seem correct. I have already do the test using AbstractDependencyInjectionSpringContextTests and it works but in spring 3 it is deprecated, so I decided to try @ContextConfiguration but spring say that default constructor is not found, I check and the class doesn't have any constructor. OK so here is my previous post PHP Templated Site w/ file_get_content links now i got that issue resolved BUT the problem is now that the content loads it displays UNDER the div i placed #CONTENT# inside so the styles are being ignored and it's posting #CONTENT# outside the divs at positions 0,0 any suggestions? Found out whats happening by using "View Source" seems that it's putting all of the #CONTENT#, content that's being loaded in front of the tag. I have a major amount of memory leaks. I know that the Sets have pointers and i cannot change that! I cannot change anything, but clean up the mess i have... I am creating memory with new in just about every function to add information to the sets. I have a Cd/ DVD/book: super classes of ITEM class and a library class.. In the library class i have 2 functions for cleaning up the sets.. RemoteViewsService never gets called whenever we update app widget

I am making one task widget application. This is a simple widget application which can be used to add new tasks by clicking on "+New Task". So ideally what I have done is, I've added a widget first, then when we click on "+New Task" a new activity opens up from where we can type in a new task and it should get updated in the ListView inside the home screen widget. Problem: Now whenever I add a new task, the ListView does not get updated. The data gets inside the database a new is created as well. My onUpdate(...) method gets called as well. There is a WidgetService.java which is a RemoteViewService that is being used to call the RemoteViewFactory but WidgetService.java gets called only when we create the widget, never after that. WidgetService.java never gets called again. The generated verse-unit objects gives me a list of objects (begin-line, begin-block-indent, etc), and also another list of string objects that represent the bits of string throughout the xml. I experience the following problem while using legacy VC6. I just cann't switch to modern compiler, as I am working on a legacy code base. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/172396 Since there are no way to export map, my planned workaround is using static linking instead of dynamic linking. I was wondering whether you all had encountered the similar situation? What is your workaround for this? Another workaround is to create wrapper class around the stl map, to ensure creation and accessing stl map, are within the same DLL space. Need help with copy constructor for very basic implementation of singly linked lists

Last week, we created a program that manages sets of strings, using classes and vectors. I was able to complete this 100%. This week, we have to replace the vector we used to store strings in our class with simple singly linked lists. The function basically allows users to declare sets of strings that are empty, and sets with only one element. In the main file, there is a vector whose elements are a struct that contain setName and strSet (class). HERE IS MY PROBLEM: It deals with the copy constructor of the class. When I remove/comment out the copy constructor, I can declare as many empty or single sets as I want, and output their values without a problem. But I know I will obviously need the copy constructor for when I implement the rest of the program. When I leave the copy constructor in, I can declare one set, either single or empty, and output its value. But if I declare a 2nd set, and i try to output either of the first two sets, i get a Segmentation Fault. Moreover, if i try to declare more then 2 sets, I get a Segmentation Fault. Any help would be appreciated!! Java MVC project - either I can't update the drawing, or I can't see it

I've got a project based around the Model-View-Controller paradigm, and I've been having a lot of trouble with getting it to work properly. The program has 4 panels, which are supposed to allow me to modify an oval drawn on the screen in various ways. These seem to work fine, and after considerable trouble I was able to get them to display in the JFrame which holds the whole shebang. I've managed to get them to display by breaking away from the provided instructions, but when I do that, I can't seem to get the oval to update. However, if I follow the directions to the letter, I only ever see an empty frame. The project had pretty specific directions, which I followed up to a point, but some of the documentation was unclear. I think what I'm missing must be something simple, since nothing is jumping out at me as not making sense. I have to admit though that my Java experience is limited and my experience with GUI design/paradigms is even more so. Anyway, I've been searching the web and this site extensively trying to figure out what's wrong, but this is a somewhat specific example and honestly I just don't know enough about this to generalize any of the answers I've found online and figure out what's missing. The first block of commented out code is the same as what's in the Controller class. The reason I have it commented out is because that was just a lucky guess - it's not supposed to be like that according to the instructions. However, this did work for getting the panels to show up - but at that point I was still tearing my hair out trying to get the oval to display. The other commented line ( add(new View(model)); ) was a different attempt at making things work. In this case, I put those add functions in the View class (see commented out code below). This actually worked to display both the oval and the panels, but that method wouldn't allow me to update the oval. In the case where that stuff was uncommented, I had the add(new View(model)); line from the mvcFrame line uncommented as well. The various panel classes (SolidPanel, ColorPanel, etc) simply extend a class called ControlPanel which extends JPanel. These all seem to work as expected, not having much issue with them. There is also a driver which launches the GUI. This also seems to work as expected. The main problem I'm having is that I can't get the oval to show up, and the one time I could make it show up, none of the options for changing it seemed to work. I feel like I'm close but I'm just at a loss for other things to try out at this point. Anyone who can help will have my sincerest gratitude.

Trying to get around this Webservice call from Android using AsycTask

I am a fairly beginner in Android Development. I am developing an application that extensively relays on Webservice calls. First screen takes username and password and validates the user by calling the Webservice. If U/P is valid, then I need to fire up the 2nd activity. In that 2nd activity, I need to do 3 calls. But I haven't gotten to the 2nd part yet. In fact, I haven't completed the full coding yet. But I wanted to test if the app is working as far as I've come through. When calling webserivce, I am showing alert dialog. But the app is crashing somewhere. The LoginActivity shows up. When I enter U/P and press Login Button, it crashes. Active Directory and Apple's Workgroup Manager

I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share. Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. Using a mounted NTFS share with nginx

I have set up a local testing VM with Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and the LEMP stack. It's kind of an unconventional setup because instead of having all my PHP scripts on the local machine, I've mounted an NTFS share as the document root because I do my development on Windows. I had everything working perfectly up until this morning, now I keep getting a dreaded 'File not found.' error. I am almost certain this must be somehow permission related, because if I copy my site over to /var/www, nginx and php-fpm have no problems serving my PHP scripts. What I can't figure out is why all of a sudden (after a reboot of the server), no PHP files will be served but instead just the 'File not found.' error. Static files work fine, so I think it's PHP that is causing the headache. Windows 7 laptop with two active network connections will not perform DNS AAAA lookup under certain conditions

My laptop has two network interfaces. The Ethernet interface connects directly to my provider's edge router. It obtains an IPv6 address via SLAAC. I manually set an IPv6 DNS server. The wireless interface connects to a CPE router that doesn't understand IPv6. If the wireless interface is disabled, I can reach the IPv6 Internet with no problems using the Ethernet interface. I run into problems when both interfaces are enabled and the wireless interface get its IPv4 DNS server via DHCP. Let's look at two scenarios. Wireless interface obtains IPv4 DNS server via DHCP - The CPE router (192.168.0.1) sends its address as the DNS server. In this scenario, Windows 7 will not perform AAAA lookups. The browser uses IPv4 transit to reach dual stack web sites. I can't reach IPv6-only web sites using domain names. I can reach IPv6-enabled web sites using IPv6 literals instead of the domain name. Wireless interface is manually configured with OpenDNS DNS server - Windows 7 performs AAAA lookups using IPv6 transit (via the Ethernet). Everything works fine. My dual homed set-up is definitely not standard. Still, the behavior is very strange to me. A valid IPv6 interface exists in my Ethernet interface. Why won't Windows attempt AAAA lookups in scenario #1? I've included the output of ipconfig /all and netstat -rn. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion.
