  • Get percentiles of data-set with group by month

    - by Cylindric
    Hello, I have a SQL table with a whole load of records that look like this: | Date | Score | + -----------+-------+ | 01/01/2010 | 4 | | 02/01/2010 | 6 | | 03/01/2010 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 2 | I'm plotting this on a chart, so I get a nice line across the graph indicating score-over-time. Lovely. Now, what I need to do is include the average score on the chart, so we can see how that changes over time, so I can simply add this to the mix: SELECT YEAR(SCOREDATE) 'Year', MONTH(SCOREDATE) 'Month', MIN(SCORE) MinScore, AVG(SCORE) AverageScore, MAX(SCORE) MaxScore FROM SCORES GROUP BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) ORDER BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) That's no problem so far. The problem is, how can I easily calculate the percentiles at each time-period? I'm not sure that's the correct phrase. What I need in total is: A line on the chart for the score (easy) A line on the chart for the average (easy) A line on the chart showing the band that 95% of the scores occupy (stumped) It's the third one that I don't get. I need to calculate the 5% percentile figures, which I can do singly: SELECT MAX(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE ASC) AS SubQ SELECT MIN(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE DESC) AS SubQ But I can't work out how to get a table of all the months. | Date | Average | 45% | 55% | + -----------+---------+-----+-----+ | 01/01/2010 | 13 | 11 | 15 | | 02/01/2010 | 10 | 8 | 12 | | 03/01/2010 | 5 | 4 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 7 | 7 | 9 | At the moment I'm going to have to load this lot up into my app, and calculate the figures myself. Or run a larger number of individual queries and collate the results.

  • DB2 Child Table Not Working - Create Table

    - by gamerzfuse
    I have a bit of a task before me. (DB2 Database) I need to create a table that will be a child table (is that what it is called in SQL?) I need it so that it has a foreign key constraint with my other table, so when the parent table is modified (record deleted) the child table also loses that record. Once I have the table, I also need to populate it with the data from the other table (if there is an easy way to UPDATE this). If you could point me in the right direction, this would help alot, as I do not even know what syntax to look for. Thanks in advance The table I have in place: create table titleauthors ( au_id char(11), title_id char(6), au_ord integer, royaltyshare decimal(5,2)); The table I am creating: create table titles ( title_id char(6), title varchar(80), type varchar(12), pub_id char(4), price decimal(9,2), advance decimal(9,2), ytd_sales integer, contract integer, notes varchar(200), pubdate date); I need the title_id to be matched with the title_id from the parent table AND use the ON DELETE CASCADE syntax to delete when that table is deleted from. My Attempt: CREATE TABLE BookTitles ( title_id char(6) NOT NULL CONSTRAINT BookTitles_title_id_pk REFERENCES titleauthors(title_id) ON DELETE CASCADE, title varchar(80) NOT NULL, type varchar(12), pub_id char(4), price decimal(9,2), advance decimal(9,2), ytd_sales integer, contract integer, notes varchar(200), pubdate date) ; Thanks in advance!

  • Need help in reading callgrind output

    - by n179911
    Hi, I have run callgrind with my application like this "valgrind --tool=callgrind MyApplication" and then call 'callgrind_annotate --auto=yes ./callgrind.out.2489' I see output like 768,097,560 PROGRAM TOTALS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ir file:function -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18,624,794 /build/buildd/eglibc-2.11.1/elf/dl-lookup.c:do_lookup_x [/lib/ld-2.11.1.so] 18,149,492 /src/js/src/jsgc.cpp:JS_CallTracer'2 [/src/firefox-debug-objdir/js/src/libmozjs.so] 16,328,897 /src/layout/style/nsCSSDataBlock.cpp:nsCSSExpandedDataBlock::DoAssertInitialState() [/src/firefox-debug-objdir/toolkit/library/libxul.so] 13,376,634 /build/buildd/eglibc-2.11.1/nptl/pthread_getspecific.c:pthread_getspecific [/lib/libpthread-2.11.1.so] 13,005,623 /build/buildd/eglibc-2.11.1/malloc/malloc.c:_int_malloc [/lib/libc-2.11.1.so] 10,404,453 ???:0x0000000000009190 [/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0.2800.0] 10,358,646 /src/xpcom/io/nsFastLoadFile.cpp:NS_AccumulateFastLoadChecksum(unsigned int*, unsigned char const*, unsigned int, int) [/src/firefox-debug-objdir/toolkit/library/libxul.so] 8,543,634 /src/js/src/jsscan.cpp:js_GetToken [/src/firefox-debug-objdir/js/src/libmozjs.so] 7,451,273 /src/xpcom/typelib/xpt/src/xpt_arena.c:XPT_ArenaMalloc [/src/firefox-debug-objdir/toolkit/library/libxul.so] 7,335,131 ???:g_type_check_instance_is_a [/usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0.2400.0] I have a few questions: What does the number on the right mean? Does it mean it spend accumulative that long in calling the function on the right? How can I tell how many times that function has been called and Does that include the time spend in calling the functions called by that function? What does line with ??? mean? e.g. ???:0x0000000000009190 [/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0.2800.0] Thank you.

  • Sybase stored procedure - how do I create an index on a #table?

    - by DVK
    I have a stored procedure which creates and works with a temporary #table Some of the queries would be tremendously optimized if that temporary #table would have an index created on it. However, creating an index within the stored procedure fails: create procedure test1 as SELECT f1, f2, f3 INTO #table1 FROM main_table WHERE 1 = 2 -- insert rows into #table1 create index my_idx on #table1 (f1) SELECT f1, f2, f3 FROM #table1 (index my_idx) WHERE f1 = 11 -- "QUERY X" When I call the above, the query plan for "QUERY X" shows a table scan. If I simply run the code above outside the stored procedure, the messages show the following warning: Index 'my_idx' specified as optimizer hint in the FROM clause of table '#table1' does not exist. Optimizer will choose another index instead. This can be resolved when running ad-hoc (outside the stored procedure) by splitting the code above in two batches by addding "go" after index creation: create index my_idx on #table1 (f1) go Now, "QUERY X" query plan shows the use of index "my_idx". QUESTION: How do I mimique running the "create index" in a separate batch when it's inside the stored procedure? I can't insert a "go" there like I do with the ad-hoc copy above. P.S. If it matters, this is on Sybase 12.

  • Strange behavior with large Object Types

    - by Peter Lang
    I recognized that calling a method on an Oracle Object Type takes longer when the instance gets bigger. The code below just adds rows to a collection stored in the Object Type and calls the empty dummy-procedure in the loop. Calls are taking longer when more rows are in the collection. When I just remove the call to dummy, performance is much better (the collection still contains the same number of records): Calling dummy: Not calling dummy: 11 0 81 0 158 0 Code to reproduce: Create Type t_tab Is Table Of VARCHAR2(10000); Create Type test_type As Object( tab t_tab, Member Procedure dummy ); Create Type Body test_type As Member Procedure dummy As Begin Null; --# Do nothing End dummy; End; Declare v_test_type test_type := New test_type( New t_tab() ); Procedure run_test As start_time NUMBER := dbms_utility.get_time; Begin For i In 1 .. 200 Loop v_test_Type.tab.Extend; v_test_Type.tab(v_test_Type.tab.Last) := Lpad(' ', 10000); v_test_Type.dummy(); --# Removed this line in second test End Loop; dbms_output.put_line( dbms_utility.get_time - start_time ); End run_test; Begin run_test; run_test; run_test; End; I tried with both 10g and 11g. Can anyone explain/reproduce this behavior?

  • Eliminate full table scan due to BETWEEN (and GROUP BY)

    - by Dave Jarvis
    Description According to the explain command, there is a range that is causing a query to perform a full table scan (160k rows). How do I keep the range condition and reduce the scanning? I expect the culprit to be: Y.YEAR BETWEEN 1900 AND 2009 AND Code Here is the code that has the range condition (the STATION_DISTRICT is likely superfluous). • Mysql count and sum from two diferent tables

    - by Agent_x
    Hi all, i have a problem with some querys in php and mysql: I have 2 diferent tables with one field in common: table 1 id | hits | num_g | cats | usr_id |active 1 | 10 | 11 | 1 | 53 | 1 2 | 13 | 16 | 3 | 53 | 1 1 | 10 | 22 | 1 | 22 | 1 1 | 10 | 21 | 3 | 22 | 1 1 | 2 | 6 | 2 | 11 | 1 1 | 11 | 1 | 1 | 11 | 1 table 2 id | usr_id | points 1 | 53 | 300 Now i use this statement to sum just the total from the table 1 every id count + 1 too SELECT usr_id, COUNT( id ) + SUM( num_g + hits ) AS tot_h FROM table1 WHERE usr_id!='0' GROUP BY usr_id ASC LIMIT 0 , 15 and i get the total for each usr_id usr_id| tot_h | 53 | 50 22 | 63 11 | 20 until here all is ok, now i have a second table with extra points (table2) I try this: SELECT usr_id, COUNT( id ) + SUM( num_g + hits ) + (SELECT points FROM table2 WHERE usr_id != '0' ) AS tot_h FROM table1 WHERE usr_id != '0' GROUP BY usr_id ASC LIMIT 0 , 15 but it seems to sum the 300 extra points to all users: usr_id| tot_h | 53 | 350 22 | 363 11 | 320 Now how i can get the total like the first try but + the secon table in one statement? because now i have just one entry in the second table but i can be more there. thanks for all the help. =============================================================================== hi thomas thanks for your reply, i think is in the right direction, but im getting weirds results, like usr_id | tot_h 22 | NULL <== i think the null its because that usr_id as no value in the table2 53 | 1033 Its like the second user is getting all the the values. then i try this one: SELECT table1.usr_id, COUNT( table1.id ) + SUM( table1.num_g + table1.hits + table2.points ) AS tot_h FROM table1 LEFT JOIN table2 ON table2.usr_id = table1.usr_id WHERE table1.usr_id != '0' AND table2.usr_id = table1.usr_id GROUP BY table1.usr_id ASC Same result i just get the sum of all values and not by each user, i need something like this result: usr_id | tot_h 53 | 53 <==== plus 300 points on table1 22 | 56 <==== plus 100 points on table2 /////////the result i need //////////// usr_id | tot_h 53 | 353 <==== plus 300 points on table2 22 | 156 <==== plus 100 points on table2 I think the structure need to be something like this Pseudo statements ;) from table1 count all id to get the number of record where the usr_id are then sum hits + num_g and from table2 select the extra points where the usr_id are the same as table1 and get teh result: usr_id | tot_h 53 | 353 22 | 156

  • multiple-to-one relationship mysql, submissions

    - by Yulia
    Hello, I have the following problem. Basically I have a form with an option to submit up to 3 images. Right now, after each submission it creates 3 records for album table and 3 records for images. I need it to be one record for album and 3 for images, plus to link images to the album. I hope it all makes sense... Here is my structure. TABLE `albums` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `title` varchar(50) NOT NULL, `fullname` varchar(40) NOT NULL, `email` varchar(100) NOT NULL, `created_at` datetime NOT NULL, `theme_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `description` int(11) NOT NULL, `vote_cache` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=20 ; TABLE `images` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `album_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `name` varchar(30) NOT NULL, and my code function create_album($params) { db_connect(); $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO albums set albums.title = '%s', albums.email = '%s', albums.discuss_url = '%s', albums.theme_id = '%s', albums.fullname = '%s', albums.description = '%s', created_at = NOW()", mysql_real_escape_string($params['title']), mysql_real_escape_string($params['email']), mysql_real_escape_string($params['theme_id']), mysql_real_escape_string($params['fullname']), mysql_real_escape_string($params['description']) ); $result = mysql_query($query); if(!$result) { return false; } $album_id = mysql_insert_id(); return $album_id; } if(!is_uploaded_file($_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name'][$i])) { $warning = 'No file uploaded'; } elseif is_valid_file_size($_FILES['userfile']['size'][$i])) { $_POST['album']['theme_id'] = $theme['id']; create_album($_POST['album']); mysql_query("INSERT INTO images(name) VALUES('$newName')"); copy($_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name'][$i], './photos/'.$original_dir.'/' .$newName.'.jpg');

  • change postgres date format

    - by Jay
    Is there a way to change the default format of a date in Postgres? Normally when I query a Postgres database, dates come out as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss+tz, like 2011-02-21 11:30:00-05. But one particular program the dates come out yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.s, that is, there is no time zone and it shows tenths of a second. Apparently something is changing the default date format, but I don't know what or where. I don't think it's a server-side configuration parameter, because I can access the same database with a different program and I get the format with the timezone. I care because it appears to be ignoring my "set timezone" calls in addition to changing the format. All times come out EST. Additional info: If I write "select somedate from sometable" I get the "no timezone" format. But if I write "select to_char(somedate::timestamptz, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss-tz')" then timezones work as I would expect. This really sounds to me like something is setting all timestamps to implicitly be "to_char(date::timestamp, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss.m')". But I can't find anything in the documentation about how I would do this if I wanted to, nor can I find anything in the code that appears to do this. Though as I don't know what to look for, that doesn't prove much.

  • Move and rename file in android

    - by Andre Fróes
    I am trying to copy a file to another folder in the android, but so far, i got no success. I manage to do so with a selected image and when taking a photo, but not with files. I've read and tried several solutions passed by the community (searched over the forum and the internet), but none of it was able to solve my problem when copying. First things first. I added the permissions to my manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> after that, before copying a file, i print its filepath and the directory file path: 06-10 11:11:11.700: I/System.out(1442): /mimetype/storage/sdcard/Misc/Javascript erros for Submit and Plan buttons in IE.doc 06-10 11:11:11.710: I/System.out(1442): /storage/sdcard/mywfm/checklist-files both exists: to copy the file to the expected folder I used the FileUtils: try { FileUtils.copyFile(selectedFile, dir); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } The problem is: I get no exception and the file isn't there. I tried this solution either: How to move/rename file from internal app storage to external storage on Android? same thing, no exception, but no file either.

  • Finding 'free' times in MySQL

    Hi, I've got a table as follows: mysql> DESCRIBE student_lectures; +------------------+----------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +------------------+----------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | id | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | course_module_id | int(11) | YES | MUL | NULL | | | day | int(11) | YES | | NULL | | | start | datetime | YES | | NULL | | | end | datetime | YES | | NULL | | | cancelled_at | datetime | YES | | NULL | | | lecture_type_id | int(11) | YES | | NULL | | | lecture_id | int(11) | YES | | NULL | | | student_id | int(11) | YES | | NULL | | | created_at | datetime | YES | | NULL | | | updated_at | datetime | YES | | NULL | | +------------------+----------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ I'm essentially wanting to find times when a lecture doesn't happen - so to do this I'm thinking a query to group overlapping lectures together (so, for example, 9am-10am and 10am-11am lectures will be shown as a single 9am-11am lecture). There may be more than two lectures back-to-back. I've currently got this: SELECT l.start, l2.end FROM student_lectures l LEFT JOIN student_lectures l2 ON ( l2.start = l.end ) WHERE l.student_id = 1 AND l.start >= '2010-04-26 09:00:00' AND l.end <= '2010-04-30 19:00:00' AND l2.end IS NOT NULL AND l2.end != l.start GROUP BY l.start, l2.end ORDER BY l.start, l2.start Which returns: +---------------------+---------------------+ | start | end | +---------------------+---------------------+ | 2010-04-26 09:00:00 | 2010-04-26 11:00:00 | | 2010-04-26 10:00:00 | 2010-04-26 12:00:00 | | 2010-04-26 10:00:00 | 2010-04-26 13:00:00 | | 2010-04-26 13:15:00 | 2010-04-26 16:15:00 | | 2010-04-26 14:15:00 | 2010-04-26 16:15:00 | | 2010-04-26 15:15:00 | 2010-04-26 17:15:00 | | 2010-04-26 16:15:00 | 2010-04-26 18:15:00 | ...etc... The output I'm looking for from this would be: +---------------------+---------------------+ | start | end | +---------------------+---------------------+ | 2010-04-26 09:00:00 | 2010-04-26 13:00:00 | | 2010-04-26 13:15:00 | 2010-04-26 18:15:00 | Any help appreciated, thanks!

  • Speeding up a group by date query on a big table in postgres

    - by zaius
    I've got a table with around 20 million rows. For arguments sake, lets say there are two columns in the table - an id and a timestamp. I'm trying to get a count of the number of items per day. Here's what I have at the moment. SELECT DATE(timestamp) AS day, COUNT(*) FROM actions WHERE DATE(timestamp) >= '20100101' AND DATE(timestamp) < '20110101' GROUP BY day; Without any indices, this takes about a 30s to run on my machine. Here's the explain analyze output: GroupAggregate (cost=675462.78..676813.42 rows=46532 width=8) (actual time=24467.404..32417.643 rows=346 loops=1) -> Sort (cost=675462.78..675680.34 rows=87021 width=8) (actual time=24466.730..29071.438 rows=17321121 loops=1) Sort Key: (date("timestamp")) Sort Method: external merge Disk: 372496kB -> Seq Scan on actions (cost=0.00..667133.11 rows=87021 width=8) (actual time=1.981..12368.186 rows=17321121 loops=1) Filter: ((date("timestamp") >= '2010-01-01'::date) AND (date("timestamp") < '2011-01-01'::date)) Total runtime: 32447.762 ms Since I'm seeing a sequential scan, I tried to index on the date aggregate CREATE INDEX ON actions (DATE(timestamp)); Which cuts the speed by about 50%. HashAggregate (cost=796710.64..796716.19 rows=370 width=8) (actual time=17038.503..17038.590 rows=346 loops=1) -> Seq Scan on actions (cost=0.00..710202.27 rows=17301674 width=8) (actual time=1.745..12080.877 rows=17321121 loops=1) Filter: ((date("timestamp") >= '2010-01-01'::date) AND (date("timestamp") < '2011-01-01'::date)) Total runtime: 17038.663 ms I'm new to this whole query-optimization business, and I have no idea what to do next. Any clues how I could get this query running faster?

  • faster way to compare rows in a data frame

    - by aguiar
    Consider the data frame below. I want to compare each row with rows below and then take the rows that are equal in more than 3 values. I wrote the code below, but it is very slow if you have a large data frame. How could I do that faster? data <- as.data.frame(matrix(c(10,11,10,13,9,10,11,10,14,9,10,10,8,12,9,10,11,10,13,9,13,13,10,13,9), nrow=5, byrow=T)) rownames(data)<-c("sample_1","sample_2","sample_3","sample_4","sample_5") >data V1 V2 V3 V4 V5 sample_1 10 11 10 13 9 sample_2 10 11 10 14 9 sample_3 10 10 8 12 9 sample_4 10 11 10 13 9 sample_5 13 13 10 13 9 tab <- data.frame(sample = NA, duplicate = NA, matches = NA) dfrow <- 1 for(i in 1:nrow(data)) { sample <- data[i, ] for(j in (i+1):nrow(data)) if(i+1 <= nrow(data)) { matches <- 0 for(V in 1:ncol(data)) { if(data[j,V] == sample[,V]) { matches <- matches + 1 } } if(matches > 3) { duplicate <- data[j, ] pair <- cbind(rownames(sample), rownames(duplicate), matches) tab[dfrow, ] <- pair dfrow <- dfrow + 1 } } } >tab sample duplicate matches 1 sample_1 sample_2 4 2 sample_1 sample_4 5 3 sample_2 sample_4 4

  • A training world nugget for being taught by the best

    - by Testas
    June represents an exciting time for the SQL Server community with events all over the country in the next few months and there is plenty of knowledge to be gained from willing speakers enthusiastically sharing their knowledge. Furthermore, Paul Randall and Kimberley Trip will be conducting their highly recommended immersion events at London Heathrow in June.There are other big names within SQL Server that will be teaching this year. The company I used to work for, QA, has excellent trainers teaching SQL Server who I would always recommend. Occasionally a big name speaker will be take a course, unknowingly to the community. Solid Quality Mentors is such a company where their staff will teach at QA offices from time to time. And I know from conversation with Itzik Ben-Gan that he will be teaching Advanced TSQL within QA offices in London during the week of Oct 3-7. A link to the course details can be found here.http://www.qa.com/training-courses/technical-it-training/microsoft/microsoft-sql-server/microsoft-sql-server-2008-and-r2/advanced-t-sql-querying,-programming-and-tuning-for-sql-server-2005--2008So if you want to be taught by the best experts, consider checking www.QA.com for their advanced SQL courses, you could find yourself being taught by the best in the business in their field.Chris

  • SSRS Export to Excel not working through VPN (Juniper SA4000)

    - by Veynom
    We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000. When using Fiddler and when not connected through VPN, I see the following traffic once i click on the "Export button": (Response was a request for client credentials) GET /ReportServer/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ExecutionID=j1pqbvbqkb34qf45fhlgnx55&ControlID=733607a7d607476abb1e6b8794202158&Culture=127&UICulture=9&ReportStack=1&OpType=Export&FileName=Product+Application+Report&ContentDisposition=OnlyHtmlInline&Format=EXCEL HTTP/1.1 Accept: */* Accept-Language: en-US,fr-be;q=0.5 User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; • Getting SQL table row counts via sysindexes vs. sys.indexes

    - by Bill Osuch
    Among the many useful SQL snippets I regularly use is this little bit that will return row counts in a table: SELECT so.name as TableName, MAX(si.rows) as [RowCount] FROM sysobjects so JOIN sysindexes si ON si.id = OBJECT_ID(so.name) WHERE so.xtype = 'U' GROUP BY so.name ORDER BY [RowCount] DESC This is handy to find tables that have grown wildly, zero-row tables that could (possibly) be dropped, or other clues into the data. Right off the bat you may spot some "non-ideal" code - I'm using sysobjects rather than sys.objects. What's the difference? In SQL Server 2005 and later, sysobjects is no longer a table, but a "compatibility view", meant for backward compatibility only. SELECT * from each and you'll see the different data that each returns. Microsoft advises that sysindexes could be removed in a future version of SQL Server, but this has never really been an issue for me since my company is still using SQL 2000. However, there are murmurs that we may actually migrate to 2008 some year, so I might as well go ahead and start using an updated version of this snippet on the servers that can handle it: SELECT so.name as TableName, ddps.row_count as [RowCount] FROM sys.objects so JOIN sys.indexes si ON si.OBJECT_ID = so.OBJECT_ID JOIN sys.dm_db_partition_stats AS ddps ON si.OBJECT_ID = ddps.OBJECT_ID  AND si.index_id = ddps.index_id WHERE si.index_id < 2  AND so.is_ms_shipped = 0 ORDER BY ddps.row_count DESC

  • The emergence of Atlassian's Bamboo (and a free SQL Source Control license offer!)

    - by David Atkinson
    The rise in demand for database continuous integration has forced me to skill-up in various new tools and technologies, particularly build servers. We have been using JetBrain's TeamCity here at Red Gate for a couple of years now, having replaced the ageing CruiseControl.NET, so it was a natural choice for us to use this for our database CI demos. Most of our early adopter customers have also transitioned away from CruiseControl, the majority to TeamCity and Microsoft's TeamBuild. However, more recently, for reasons we've yet to fully comprehend, we've observed a significant surge in the number of evaluators for Atlassian's Bamboo. I installed this a couple of weeks back to satisfy myself that it works seamlessly with Red Gate tools. As you would expect Bamboo's UI has the same clean feel found in any Atlassian tool (we use JIRA extensively here at Red Gate). In the coming weeks I will post a short step-by-step guide to setting up SQL Server continuous integration using the Red Gate command lines. To help us further optimize the integration between these tools I'd be very keen to hear from any Bamboo users who also use Red Gate tools who might be willing to participate in usability tests and other similar research in exchange for Amazon vouchers. If you are interested in helping out please contact me at David dot Atkinson at red-gate.com I recently spoke with Sarah, the product marketing manager for Bamboo, and we ended up having a detailed conversation about database CI, which has been meticulously documented in the form of a blog post on Atlassian's website: http://blogs.atlassian.com/2012/05/database-continuous-integration-redgate/ We've also managed to persuade Red Gate marketing to provide a great free-tool offer, provide a free SQL Source Control or SQL Connect license to Atlassian users provided it is claimed before the end of June! Full details are at the bottom of the post. Technorati Tags: sql server
