• JQUERY nav problem

  This is part 2 of a different problem that I was having... Hopefully this is about as simple as you can get, but I'm clearly missing something..... The gist is, I'm trying to get a mouseover effect using jquery/css with a mix of background images and colors. It's mostly there, but the issue that I'm having at the moment is, I mouseover the main nav = fine, I mouseover the subnav = fine, I mouse BACK over to that same main nav element, and it's OFF state kicks in instead of remaining ON as it's supposed to... I pasted my code here (since it's kinda long, and apparently I can only paste one link....) http://tinypaste.com/2222e -- a link to my most recent efforts is at the bottom of that pastebin -- hopefully the gist of what I'm trying to do will be clear. I'll keep plugging away for a while, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!:)

  I have a function that shrinks the size of a "Food bank" (represented by a rectangle in my GUI) once some of the food has been taken.   Hi! I'm relatively new to Django and I'm designing a website that primarily needs usability experience, speaking of optimized CSS, HTML5 and UI stuff. It's very easy to use Django for data/Model centric design. Just designing a couple of Python classes and ./manage.py syncdb - there's your Model. But I'm dealing with a significant amount of View centric challenges. (Different user classes, different tasks, different design challenges.) The official Django tutorial cursorily goes through using a "Template". Is there any Design centric guide for Django, or a set of Templates that are ready and useable? I don't want to start from scratch using JS, HTML5, Ajax and everything. From the Model layer perspective Django is very rapid and delivering a working base system. I wonder whether there's something like that for the Views.

• Video with QML Video plays choppy on Mac OS X

  I’m trying to create simple video player with QML. I have QtSdk installed and QtMobility compiled and installed from source. • Retrieving Gtk::Widget's relative position: get_allocation() doesn't work

  I need to retrieve the position of a Gtk::Widget relative to its parent, a Gtk::Table. Most sources (e.g. http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk-faq/stable/x642.html) say that one needs to call Gtk::Widget::get_allocation(). However, the returned Gtk::Allocation object always contains x = -1, y = -1, width = 1, height = 1. I have to note that this happens before the Gtk::Table object is actually exposed and rendered. A call to show_all_children() or check_resize(), which I would expect to recalculate child widget geometry, doesn't help. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

• Auto deployment of PHP applications

  My team currently has a development web/database server and a live deployment web server and a live database server. We use SVN with the repository stored on the development server but the problem is our deployment process. Currently when we need to deploy an update to the live application we simply use SFTP to transfer from the repository to the live web server and then amend the database on the live server to reflect the development database. This is a really slow process as we also minify all javascript and CSS files. I have used Capistrano for Ruby and Cruise Control for java but I have never used anything for PHP. I'd rather not have to build our own if something already existed. Does anyone know of anything?

• C# MDX RenderToSurface, where to reset after device is lost?

When I resize the Form of my Device, the Draw method is still called, but doesnt throw an Exception, it looks like this: device.Clear(ClearFlags.Target, Color.Red, 0, 0); device.BeginScene(); // here is out commented code device.EndScene(); device.Present(); In another method, I wrote this: renderToSurface.BeginScene(surfaces[currentIndex]); // here is out commented code renderToSurface.EndScene(Filter.None); and this method seems to throw a nullpointer exception when I resize the window; So my question is: - where to reset / restore / handle the renderToSurface class? • Images not displayed in silverlight when app is run

  I'm trying to display an image within a Silverlight application but the image does not display when the application is run. When creating the project within Visual Studio I chose the "Automatically generate a test page to host Silverlight at build time" option. • How do you handle very old browsers on your site?

  Hi. We have a non-profit web site that got about 5 million hits in May. Of those, about 5,700 were from IE 5.x or lower; about 4,000 were from folks with Netscape 4.x or lower. We know that the current site's layout works for newer browsers and we're testing it on IE6 as well (along with Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Firefox). How do you handle the folks with the older browsers? Because of jQuery libraries and such, the pages might not function correctly on those old browsers. Is there an easy way to show a text-only version on browsers that can't handle the CSS and jQuery goodies? How do large sites handle this sort of thing? I've used the @embed to hide the stylesheet from Netscape 4.x, but not sure beyond that.

  Hi, i'm working in a big and rich rails web application using tons of javascript. I would like to know if anybody has a tip to organize the javascripts. Today i'm generating a new file named controller.js and adding it to my views using content_for. The problem is, some files are becoming big and sometimes, i need a function from one controller in another, so then in the end, i add a products.js to a details controller just to keep DRY. Is that solution good? Any other tip? I think the same pattern can be applied as well to css files?

• Object drag delay issue

  I have this code that drags stuff around perfectly in IE - however in firefox the onmousedown-drag of the object does not immediately drag but shows the no-entry cursor and then after onmouseup the object drags around freely. The object does stop draging on the next onmouseup. The object should only drag in the onmousdown state, while the onmousup call should cancel the drag by making j_OK=0. • Excluding files from web logs

  Looking through my web logs, I see a lot of entries that don't interest me. Some of them are commonly used images, css files, and scripts, which I can easily exclude by un-checking the 'log visits' check box in IIS for the folder properties. I would also like to exclude log entries for certain common requests which are not in their own folders. Mostly, 'favicon.ico'. 'scriptresource.axd', and 'webresource.axd'. These (especially scriptresource.axd) make up almost a third of a typical log file on my site. So, the question is, how do I tell IIS not to log these requests? And is there any reason that this is a bad idea?

  We are creating a modular Web Site Project and all the UI is based on simple html pages with javascript widgets. These widgets obtain the data from a WCF class located in the app_code folder. Each widget has 3 files [ js, css , cs] and an image directory: , and we want all these files to be located under the same directory, say: /widgets/mywidget/ The problem is that the .cs file needs to be in the app_code folder to be compiled dynamically and that would break our widget modularity forcing the installator to distribute the widget code in two places. One of the options is use compiled assemblies instead of .cs files and use Assembly.Load() or smthg similar to load them when needed. What other options do you see?

• Zend + Pop Up's balloons on Server Problem

  Dear Friends from Stackoverflow, Please help me with a problem that i'm having when uploading my project to the server. I'm using pop up's balloons (http://mckay.cshl.edu/balloons.html) for a project using Zend FW and it works fine on my localhost. (I'm using MAMP on MacOSX) but when I upload the webpage to the server, the text inside the balloons is displayed but the images that form the balloon are not, so somehow the js does not recognize the url to the images (the path it's correct, i've checked several times). The server is an Ubuntu 9.04 virtual machine from rackspace.com, running a LAMP server. I'm using the REWRITE function in Apache, so i guess maybe that's the problem. The rewrite configuration is set up using a .htaccess file with the following content: SetEnv APPLICATION_ENV development Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine ON RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !.(js|ico|txt|gif|jpg|png|css|html)$ index.php Does anyone knows what the problem might be?   I've got HTML component as part of a datagroup itemrenderer which I need to resize the content of (there are lots of them). This works quite well but the content looks really crusty. No font antialiasing. Even at 50% looks crusty. I've considered generating thumbnails bitmaps on load 'complete', but that would be my last resort. <mx:HTML location="{uri}" width="900" height="660" scaleX=".25" scaleY=".25" /> Any ideas?
