• Is c++ explicit conversion really that bad?

  My knowledge in c++ at this point is more academic than anything else and in all my reading thus far, the use of explicit conversion with named casts (const_cast, static_cast, reinterpret_cast, dynamic_cast) has come with a big warning label (and it's easy to see why) that pretty much implies explicit conversion is symptomatic of bad design and should only be used as a last resort in desperate circumstances. So i have to ask: Is explicit conversion with named casts really just jury rigging code or is there a more graceful and positive application to this feature? Is there a good example of the latter? Thanks in advance.

  I'm experimenting with jquery and svg, I make up my path but now I want to change that (based on some user input) I do something like var dpath = $('path').attr("d"); $('path').attr("d",dpath.replace("150 150", "450 450")); which works fine, but this not useful when my path grows, so I wonder is there a possibility to put a label or a comment in the path to serve as a replace hook? searching for svg path comments gives me all. I'm close to write my own "replaceble" pseudo svg path code, but is there an alternative possible in svg? regards, Jeroen.

  I'm using System.Net.Mail to send out a few emails. The emails are being sent by our internal mail server to local addresses. However all of the messages are going straight to junk in Outlook. The messages are being sent from valid email addresses. What would be causing our our servers to label it as junk? • Jquery check if element exists then add class to different element

  I don't know much about jquery at all, so bear with my ignorance, but I'm pretty sure I can accomplish this with jquery. I need jquery to check if an element exists, and if so, add a class to a different element. For example, if class "minimal-price-link" exists, then add a class to "regular-price" or what I really am wanting to do is make the regular-price strikethrough. • SVN Export in Eclipse removes labels on tabs

  I have a very strange effect when using subclipse with eclipse. Whenever I use Team-Export to export a file from the editor the export works fine, but the label of the tab of the file is removed. Effect can be seen here: http://www.daspferd.de/img/tabs.png Strangely enough it happens with php-files, css-files, html-files but NOT with javascript-files. So I'm assuming it's some kind of setting that I haven't found yet and not a bug in subclipse. Anyone know where I can shut down this behaviour?

  I am trying to make an effect on a button that when I mouse over it, it keeps jumping up and down smoothly and when mouse out it stops.   Hi all, Consider this dot language code: digraph graphname { subgraph clusterA { node [shape=plaintext,style=filled]; 1 -> 2 [arrowhead=normal,arrowtail=dot]; 2 -> 3 -> X2 -> 5; 6; 7; label = "A"; color=blue } } In the above example, only the 1 -> 2 connection will have the arrowhead=normal,arrowtail=dot style applied; all the other arrows will be of the "default" style. My question is - how do I set the arrow style (for the entire subgraph - or for the entire graph), without having to copy paste "[arrowhead=normal,arrowtail=dot];" next to each edge connection? • C# gridview nested in repeater update

  My current situation is to display an unknown number of Plantypes and within those Plantypes display a list of Participants(also unknown number), the participants have a textbox and a dropdown that is editable (you can't edit the individual rows, there is one update that does a bit of validation then updates all rows.) I currently have a gridview nested withing a repeater, the repeater displays the Plan in a label and OnItemDataBound I call a method to populate the gridviews. It looks great, but I can't figure out how to save all the data at once. I'm not opposed to handling this a different way, as in loose the gridview and or repeater, if someone has a better idea. This is C# and framework 2.0...there is no sorting or paging on the gridviews...just some links and the fields to update. thanks in advance, Padawan

• Appending html code to a section inside a dialog window isn't working in IE6

  I'm using jQuery's validation on a form. When the form is validated, I'm using a submitHandler to fill a dialog with data from the form then I open the dialog to display it. Works great except for in IE6. Nothing displays. I've tried initializing the dialog before and after running the validation code but neither makes a difference. • Wrapping pre-made elements using GWT?

  Hi, I've been working with GWT for awhile, I can't find a way to integrate it with a preexisting website which is a real downer. My page content is already generated for me using jsp, like: <div id='A'></div> <div id='B'></div> etc. there is no way for me to do something like this though: public void onModuleLoad() { SimplePanel spA = new SimplePanel( Document.getElementById("A")); spA.add(new Label("hello")); SimplePanel spB = new SimplePanel( Document.getElementById("B")); spB.setWidth("200px"); etc .. } seems like there's no way to just wrap a pre-existing element. Is this true, or am I missing how to do this? I need be able to wrap a bunch of elements like this, to manipulate them later on. • Can anyone tell me why my XML writer is not writing attributes?

  I am writing a parsing tool to help me clean up a large VC++ project before I make .net bindings for it. I am using an XML writer to read an xml file and write out each element to a new file. If an element with a certain name is found, then it executes some code and writes an output value into the elements value. So far it is almost working, except for one thing: It is not copying the attributes. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?   Is using .h as a header for a c++ file wrong? I see it all over the place, especially with code written in the "C style". I noticed that Emacs always selects C highlighting style for a .h header, but c++ for hpp or hh. Is it actually "wrong" to label your headers .h or is it just something which annoys me? EDIT: There is a good (ish) reason why this annoys me, if I have project files labelled, 'hpp & cpp' I can get away with 'grep something *pp' etc. otherwise I have to type '.h cpp'

The website has no public API , hence the reason for the scrapper. Is there a library to perform the following functions? or what do I do? automate fill-in form, auto click Automate submit button check which URL the user has landed on, and redirect user to URL Grab data from label. • Textfield being dequeued before textFieldDidEndEditing is called?

  I am using a uitableview with a bunch of dynamically created custom cells each with a label and textfield similar to the settings app on the phone. Problem occurs when i have a lot of textfields say 20, the user selects the first textfield, changes its value then scrolls to the end of the table and selects the last textfield to edit. I get a EXEC_BAD_ACCESS in the textFieldDidEndEditing method because i think the textfield value is nil?? I think this might be happending because the 1st textfield that was being edited is being dequeued when the table is scrolled. Everything works fine if you select textfields that are next to each other. Any ideas how to fix this?

• How can I get Text property to initialize to the objects name at design time?

  When you add a label to the form from the toolbox, its text defaults to the item's name (label1, label2, etc). How can I make this happen with a custom control? So far, I have the following, which allows me to change the text through the property window: private string _text; [BrowsableAttribute(true)] public override string Text { get { return _text; } set { _text = value; lblID.Text = _text; } } Apparently the above code works as is, but I'm not sure why. Does Text default to the object's name automatically? The question still stands for other properties which don't override Text.

• Returning a users lat lng as a string iPhone

  Is there a way to return the users location as a string from a model? I have a model thats job is to download same JSON data from a web service. When sending in my request I need to add ?lat=LAT_HERE&lng=LNG_HERE to the end of the string. I have seen tons of examples using the map or constantly updating a label. But I cant find out how to explicitly return the lat and lng values. Im only 2 days into iPhone dev so go easy on me :)

I added a unique class to the labels before applying the button set and have set a click event on it. It fires fine, however it is firing before the jqueryui has processed the click so the result is out of date. • Java Program Compiles and Runs, but doesn't work

  When I run this program I enter information in a text box, push the search button, but nothing happens. The program just sits there until I press Cntrl C to break it. It looks like it should work, but I can't figure out what is hanging the program up.   I'm sure this is simple, but I can't seem to find the answer. While using wx.MDIParentFrame, I open a new window with wx.MDIChildFrame.
