  • How to merge branches in Git by "hunk"

    Here's the scenario. I made a "dev" branch off the "master" branch and made a few new commits. Some of those changes are going to only be relevant to my local development machine. For example I changed a URL variable to point to a local apache server instead of the real URL that's posted online (I did this for speed during the testing phase). Now I'd like to incorporate my changes from the dev branch into the master branch but NOT those changes which only make sense in my local environment. I'd envisioned something like a merge --patch which would allow me to choose the changes I want to merge line by line. Alternatively maybe I could checkout the "master" branch, but keep the files in my working directory as they were in the "dev" branch, then do a git add --patch. Would that work?

    I'm dealing with a file with a linked list of lines with each node looking like this: struct TextLine{ //The actual text string text; //The line number of the document int line_num; //A pointer to the next line TextLine * next; }; and I'm writing a function that adds spaces at the beginning of the lines found in the variable text, by calling functions like linelist_ptr->text.insert(0,1,'\t'); The program compiles, but when I run it I get this error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range' what(): basic_string::at Aborted Any ideas?

    I am trying to use DocUtils and reStructuredText to comment SQL code. I can get this to work when I include the markup inside multi-line comments. I then use --Some text:: to introduce each block of code. I cannot get internal hyperlinks to work. I would like to write -- .. Step1_: but the parser ignores this because of the leading comment. Using a multi-line style also fails. Is there a way to get this to work?   • Align text with bottom as it comes in during a chat?

    I'm building a custom web chat application, and while I have the basics worked out, I've been wondering if this was possible... right now, the chat comes in at the top of the div, and when it reaches the bottom, the div starts scrolling. This works. This is great. But I was wondering if it was possible to create it more like an IRC client, where the chat comes in initially at the bottom of the div, then each new line comes in below the old ones, etc, and again, when the div is full, it starts scrolling. I've managed to get part of this working: I can get it displaying this way. But I can't find a way to scroll it; either the scroll doesn't appear (when there's no overflow on the inner, text div, despite there being an overflow on the outer, container div), or it's confined to the width of the text rather than the width of the container div. Some options I've tried: <div id="chatbox" style="overflow: auto; position: relative; width: 100%; height: 400px;"> <div id="chatmessages" style="overflow: auto; position: absolute; bottom: 0;"></div></div> This has the text appear properly at the bottom, but no scrollbar ever appears. <div id="chatbox" style="overflow: auto; position: relative; width: 100%; height: 400px;"> <div id="chatmessages" style="overflow: scroll; position: absolute; bottom: 0;"></div></div> This has the text appear properly at the bottom, and a scrollbar appears, but it's only ever as wide as the text, even if width=100%... and when the text reaches the top, the scrollbar remains gray. Basically, do I want the scrollbar on the inner or the container div, is this even possible, how do I force it to work, and am I going about this entirely wrong?

    I am using VS2008. I have a project, SystemSoftware project, connect with a database and we are using L2E. I have a RuntimeInfo class which contains some shared information there. It looks like this: public class RuntimeInfo { public const int PWD_ExpireDays = 30; private static RuntimeInfo thisObj = new RuntimeInfo(); public static string AndeDBConnStr = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["AndeDBEntities"].ConnectionString; private RuntimeInfo() { } /// <summary> /// /// </summary> /// <returns>Return this singleton object</returns> public static RuntimeInfo getRuntimeInfo() { return thisObj; } } Now I added a helper project, AndeDataViewer, to the solution which creates a simple UI to display data from the database for testing/verification purpose. I don't want to create another set of Entity Data Model in the helper project. I just added all related files as a link in the new helper project. In the AndeDataViewer project, I get the connection string from above RuntimeInfo class which is a class from my SystemSoftware project as a linked file. The code in AndeDataViewer is like this: public class DbAccess : IDisposable { private String connStr = String.Empty; public DbAccess() { connStr = RuntimeInfo.AndeDBConnStr; } } My SystemSoftware works fine that means the RuntimeInfo class has no problem there. But when I run my AndeDataViewer, the statement inside above constructor, connStr = RuntimeInfo.AndeDBConnStr; , throws an exception.   • pre tag is being formatted strangely in page

    I am outputting some code in one of my pages, using a <pre> tag. The code is being output correctly, but for some strange reason, the first line of the code is indented (i.e. shifted to the right, by quite a large amount). I am not applying any style to that element, and I checked in FF Firebug and no styling is being applied, so I have no idea why the first line is shifted by so much to the right - any ideas? the code that generates the tag looks like this: <pre> <?php echo $script_code; ?> </pre> The generated code looks like this: <iframe src="http://www.example.com"> </iframe> Any ideas what may be going wrong?

  • Expected symbol problems with this function declaration

    I am just getting back into the C programming realm and I am having an issue that I think is linker related. I am using cmake for the first time as well, so that could be adding to my frustration. I have included a third party header file that contains a typedef that my code is trying to use, and it has this line: typedef struct a a_t so my code has a_t *var; //later..... var->member;// this line throws the error which throws the error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type So am I just missing another include file, or is this a linker issue? I am building this code in QtCreator and using cmake. I can dive on a_t to see that typedef declaration in the included header, but I can't seem to dive on "struct a" itself to see where it's coming from. Thanks

    I have a custom UIView with a UILabel and a UIImageView subview. (tried using UIImageView subclass aswell). I assign an image to it and add the view to the screen.     The following code does not compile in VS2012, it gives error C2064: term does not evaluate to a function taking 1 arguments on the line of the second for_each (line 4 below). vector<string> v1; for_each(begin(v1), end(v1), [](string s1) { vector<string> v2; for_each(begin(v2), end(v2), [](string s2) { cout << "..."; }); }); I found some related stuff like http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/560907/capturing-variables-in-nested-lambdas which shows a bug (they are doing something different) but on the other hand that shows that what I print above should be possible. What's wrong with the above code?

This is little strange to me why if-statement is in this aspect treated worse than for-loop? Say i have the following line in my program: jobSetupErrors.append("abc"); In the case above where jobSetupErrors is a StringBuilder(), what i see happen is: New String Object is created and assigned value "abc" value of that String object is assigned to the existing StringBuilder object If that is correct, and I add 1 more line ... jobSetupErrors.append("abc"); logger.info("abc"); In the above example are we creating String object separately 2 times? If so, would it be more proper to do something like this? String a = "abc"; jobSetupErrors.append(a); logger.info(a); Is this a better approach? Please advise

    So I've been learning C++ and SDL to make some basic 2d games. I want to create a game sort of like World of Warcraft but a 2D version. I want it to be on-line and use a database or something to start data like amount of Gold, HP, etc. I was wondering though, if I do this in SDL, would it still work on-line or would the user have to download SDL themselves to play? I just want a game like this but be able to play it with some friends, just for learning purposes you know. I was also looking at DirectX because everyone has that on windows pretty much.     I was given a c++ main and have to code it so it works. I am having some trouble understanding the code as I am a bit new to cpp. Here is the code int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { Class::setAtribute("string"); Class(Class::CONSTANT) << "starting up..."; } Some questions: How can the first line work with no variables? Is it static? The second line is really strange for me, what I can make out is a Constructor that takes in a class constante and then prints it out somehow?   • Trouble converting string/character to byte in lisp

    I've some data that I'm reading in using read-line and I want to convert it into a byte-array. babel:string-to-octet works for the most part except when the character\byte is larger (above 200) in which case it returns two numbers. As an example, if the character is ú using babel:string-to-octet returns (195 185) instead of 250 which is what I'm looking for. I tried a number of encodings in babel but none of them seem to work. If I use read-byte or read-sequence it does read in 250. But for reasons of backward compatibility, I'm left with using read-line and I would like to know if there is something I'm missing when using babel:string-to-octet to convert ú to 250. I'm using ccl 1.8 btw.

    I am trying to access a locally hosted website and get its HTML source to parse. I have few questions: 1) Can I use "https://An IP ADDRESS HERE" as a valid URL to try and access. I do not want to make changes in the /etc/hosts file so I want to do it this way. 2) I cannot get the html, since it is giving me Handshake exceptions and Certificate issues.   • Regex for zeroing in on build output text error

    I'd like to quickly hone in on what failed in a build log output that is nearly 5k lines long, using Notepad++ as my editor for the file. Notepad++ has the nice ability to specify regular expressions, so I am wondering if there is a way to not match: Compile complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings but to match, for example: Compile complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings Compile complete -- 100 errors, 0 warnings where the match would be (1 or more) errors. If this isn't possible, I will probably just write a quick line-by-line parsing tool instead, but I was hoping someone on StackOverflow could whip out a regular expression in the same amount of time - I'm definitely not proficient enough with regular expressions to be able to write one for my needs in a short amount of time.

How can I make that selection?
