    We are using Java RMI for communication. An RMI client passes a processing request and an object with a callback method to an RMI server. The server invokes the callback when it is done with processing. The setup is similar to the one described in RMI Callbacks. Occasionally we are getting a "read time out" exception in the server upon invoking the callback method.   • Oracle command hangs when using view for "WHERE x IN..." subquery

    I'm working on a web service that fetches data from an oracle data source in chunks and passes it back to an indexing/search tool in XML format. I'm the C#/.NET guy, and am kind of fuzzy on parts of Oracle. Our Oracle team gave us the following script to run, and it works well: SELECT ROWID, [columns] FROM [table] WHERE ROWID IN ( SELECT ROWID FROM ( SELECT ROWID FROM [table] WHERE ROWID > '[previous_batch_last_rowid]' ORDER BY ROWID ) WHERE ROWNUM <= 10000 ) ORDER BY ROWID 10,000 rows is an arbitrary but reasonable chunk size and ROWID is sufficiently unique for our purposes to use as a UID since each indexing run hits only one table at a time. Bracketed values are filled in programmatically by the web service. Now we're going to start adding views to the indexing, each of which will union a few separate tables. Since ROWID would no longer function as a unique identifier, they added a column to the views (VIEW_UNIQUE_ID) that concatenates the ROWIDs from the component tables to construct a UID for each union. But this script does not work, even though it follows the same form as the previous one: SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID, [columns] FROM [view] WHERE VIEW_UNIQUE_ID IN ( SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID FROM ( SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID FROM [view] WHERE ROWID > '[previous_batch_last_view_unique_id]' ORDER BY VIEW_UNIQUE_ID ) WHERE ROWNUM <= 10000 ) ORDER BY VIEW_UNIQUE_ID It hangs indefinitely with no response from the Oracle server. I've waited 20+ minutes and the SQLTools dialog box indicating a running query remains the same, with no progress or updates. I've tested each subquery independently and each works fine and takes a very short amount of time (<= 1 second), so the view itself is sound. But as soon as the inner two SELECT queries are added with "WHERE VIEW_UNIQUE_ID IN...", it hangs. Why doesn't this query work for views? In what important way are they not interchangeable here?

In reference to the answer of this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1179854/limitations-on-sms-messages-sent-using-free-email-sms-gateways is there any websites or other resources that list the format that is delivered for each carrier. ATT for example delivers the SMS with some added formatting that is not present with T-Mobile. I realize this is not a coding question, but since I can only see this question arising for someone that is creating email to SMS specific applications, it seems relevant to SO.

    I'm trying to setup josso on an apache tomcat server running on windows.     I'm writing an extension to jQuery that adds data to DOM elements using el.data('lalala', my_data); and then uses that data to upload elements dynamically. Each time I get new data from the server I need to update all elements having el.data('lalala') != null; To get all needed elements I use an extension by James Padolsey: $(':data(lalala)').each(...); Everything was great until I came to the situation where I need to run that code 50 times - it is very slow! It takes about 8 seconds to execute on my page with 3640 DOM elements var x, t = (new Date).getTime(); for (n=0; n < 50; n++) { jQuery(':data(lalala)').each(function() { x++; }); }; console.log(((new Date).getTime()-t)/1000); Since I don't need RegExp as parameter of :data selector I've tried to replace this by var x, t = (new Date).getTime(); for (n=0; n < 50; n++) { jQuery('*').each(function() { if ($(this).data('lalala')) x++; }); }; console.log(((new Date).getTime()-t)/1000); This code is faster (5 sec), but I want get more. Q Are there any faster way to get all elements with this data key? In fact, I can keep an array with all elements I need, since I execute .data('key') in my module. Checking 100 elements having the desired .data('lalala') is better then checking 3640 :) So the solution would be like for (i in elements) { el = elements[i]; .... But sometimes elements are removed from the page (using jQuery .remove()). Both solutions described above [$(':data(lalala)') solution and if ($(this).data('lalala'))] will skip removed items (as I need), while the solution with array will still point to removed element (in fact, the element would not be really deleted - it will only be deleted from the DOM tree - because my array will still have a reference). I found that .remove() also removes data from the node, so my solution will change into var toRemove = []; for (vari in elements) { var el = elements[i]; if ($(el).data('lalala')) .... else toRemove.push(i); }; for (var ii in toRemove) elements.splice(toRemove[ii], 1); // remove element from array This solution is 100 times faster! Q Will the garbage collector release memory taken by DOM elements when deleted from that array? Remember, elements have been referenced by DOM tree, we made a new reference in our array, then removed with .remove() and then removed from the array. Is there a better way to do this?

    Hi All, I know the similar question may have been asked many times, but I want to represent the behavior I'm seeing and find if somebody can help predict the cause of this. I am writing a windows service which connects to other windows service over TCP. There are 100 user entities of this, and 5 connections per each. These users perform their tasks using their individual connections. The application goes on withough seeing this problem for 1 or 2 days. Or sometimes show the problem right after starting (-rarely). The best run I had was like 4 to 5 days without showing this exception. And after that application died or I had to stop it for various reasons. I want to know what can be causing this?   • Enum "does not have a no-arg default constructor" with Jaxb and cxf

    A client is having an issue running java2ws on some of their code, which uses & extends classes that are consumed from my SOAP web services. Confused yet? :) I'm exposing a SOAP web service (JBoss5, Java 6). Someone is consuming that web service with Axis1 and creating a jar out of it with the data types and client stubs. They are then defining their own type, which extends one of my types. My type contains an enumeration. class MyParent { private MyEnumType myEnum; // getters, settters for myEnum; } class TheirChild extends MyParent { ... } When they are running java2ws on their code (which extends my class), they get Caused by: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 2 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions net.foo.bar.MyEnuMType does not have a no-arg default constructor. this problem is related to the following location: at net.foo.bar.MyEnumType at public net.foo.bar.MyEnumType net.foo.bar.MyParent.getMyEnum() The enum I've defined is below. This is now how it comes out after being consumed, but it's how I have it defined on the app server: @XmlType(name = "MyEnumType") @XmlEnum public enum MyEnumType { Val1("Val1"), Val2("Val2") private final String value; MyEnumType(String v) { value = v; } public String value() { return value; } public static MyEnumType fromValue(String v) { if (v == null || v.length() == 0) { return null; } if (v.equals("Val1")) { return MyEnumType.Val1; } if (v.equals("Val2")) { return MyEnumType.Val2; } return null; } } I've seen things online and other posts, like (this one) regarding Jaxb's inability to handle Lists or things like that, but I'm baffled about my enum. I'm pretty sure you can't have a default constructor for an enum (well, at least a public no-arg constructor, Java yells at me when I try), so I'm not sure what makes this error possible. Any ideas? Also, the "2 counts of IllegalAnnotationsExceptions" may be because my code actually has two enums that are written similarly, but I left them out of this example for brevity.

  • SSL certificates: No Client certificate key exhange

    I am trying to access a WCF web service, that is using two way SSL encryption. When I try to call the service I get a System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityNegotiationException: Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS with authority 'XXX.xx'. --- System.Net.WebException: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel. I have tried activating wire shark, to see what is sent to and from the server: I see a client hello and a server hello. But there is no client response to the server hello. I was expecting a "Certificate. Client key exchange. Change cipher. Encrypted handshake Message" package, but none is sent. I'm thinking it is a problem with the certificate sent by the server, that somehow my client server does not trusy it. Here is what I have already tried: I have created the certificate, through the proper authority, though I could have made a mistake in the certificate request without knowing it. I have added the two root certificates to: trusted root certificates, trusted publishers and trusted people. I have also added the client certificate to trusted people. My colleague has succeded in establishing connection on a win 2008 server (i'm using a 2003, because it is necessary for some odd reason - don't ask). I can't see any differences in our approach, so i'm a bit lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've added the bouncycastle jar file (bcprov-jdk16-144.jar) and written some code that works with my computers jvm however when I try and port it to my android application it throws: java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: KeyPairGenerator ECDH implementation not found A sample of the code is: Security.addProvider(new org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider()); java.security.KeyPairGenerator keyGen = org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.asymmetric.ec.KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("ECDH", "BC"); ECGenParameterSpec ecSpec = new ECGenParameterSpec("prime192v1"); keyGen.initialize(ecSpec, SecureRandom.getInstance("SHA1PRNG")); KeyPair pair = keyGen.generateKeyPair(); PublicKey pubk = pair.getPublic(); PrivateKey prik = pair.getPrivate(); I then wrote a simple program to see what encryption algorithms are available and ran it on my android emulator and on my computers jvm the code was: Set<Provider.Service> rar = new org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider().getServices(); Iterator<Provider.Service> ir = rar.iterator(); while(ir.hasNext()) System.out.println(ir.next().getAlgorithm()); On android I do not get any of the EC algorithms while ran normally on my computer it's fine. I'm also getting the following two errors when compiling for a lot of the bouncy castle classes: 01-07 17:17:42.548: INFO/dalvikvm(1054): DexOpt: not resolving ambiguous class 'Lorg/bouncycastle/asn1/ASN1Encodable;' 01-07 17:17:42.548: DEBUG/dalvikvm(1054): DexOpt: not verifying 'Lorg/bouncycastle/asn1/ess/OtherSigningCertificate;': multiple definitions What am I doing wrong?

  • Load external image inside flash movie clip

    I have a flash movie clip and need to load an external image inside the clip that reference to an external URL.. like www.myimage.com/image.jpg i did something with XML but the image persist on every clip because it loads from actionscript using the x and y cords. Help needed! Thanks!
