  Hi Guys I have a block of code that serializes a type into a Html tag. Type t = typeof(T); // I pass <T> in as a paramter, where myObj is of type T tagBuilder.Attributes.Add("class", t.Name); foreach (PropertyInfo prop in t.GetProperties()) { object propValue = prop.GetValue(myObj, null); string stringValue = propValue != null ? propValue.ToString() : String.Empty; tagBuilder.Attributes.Add(prop.Name, stringValue); } This works great, except I want it to only do this for primitive types, like string, int, double, bool etc. I want it to ignore everything else. Can anyone suggest how I do this? Or do I need to specify the types I want to allow somewhere and switch on the property's type to see if it's allowed? That's a little messy, so it'd be nice if I there was a tidier way.

• Subclassing Satchmo's Category model, but then getting the error "'Manager' object has no attribute 'root_categories'"

  I'm using Satchmo as part of a website I'm currently building. At the moment I'm trying add more functions to the Satchmo Category class, but obviously I'm not going to make any changes to the Satchmo files. So, I thought that subclassing the Category class would give me a new class which contains all the Satchmo Category properties and methods while allowing me to add my own. However, either Python subclassing doesn't work like that, or I am doing it wrong.   I have a bomb project where I need to defuse certain phases by finding "pas phrases" that will defuse the bomb. Right now I have been working with phase_2, for which the assembly code is shown below. Phase_2 requires as an input 6 numbers, which I need to find in order to defuse this phase. I analyzed this assembly, and I came up with the C code below, that covers lines from 40101c to 401044. It is basically a for loop that makes sure that elements t[0]==t[3], t[1]==t[4] and t[2]==t[5] that the user inputs, are equal. According to my logic, the user can input any 6 numbers as long as the above condition is satisfied. Say 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 would be a valid "pas phrase". However this solution does not convince me for some reason. • ASCIIMath and TiddlyWiki

  I use TiddlyWiki for work-notes. I already have pretty large wiki, but now I want to add math-support. As far as I understand what is written here, all I would have to do to use ASCIIMathML in my wiki would be including the script ASCIIMathML.js. Doesn't work (no effect at all). Then I found this plugin for TiddlyWiki, but when I import it to my wiki, it gives me an error in one of the regexp strings. When I download that wiki directly, ASCIIMath does not work anymore, even though I have the script in the same directory. Does anyone have a solution available, how I can add ASCIIMath to my existing TiddlyWiki?

  Hi, I have a service that implements the following DataMember: [DataMember] public Dictionary<string, List<IOptionQueryResult>> QueryResultItems { get; set; } I have the class "OptionQuerySingleResult" which inherits from IOptionQueryResult. Now, I understand that I need to make the OptionQueryResult type "known" to the Service and thus tried to add the KnownType in various ways: [KnownType(typeof(Dictionary<string, OptionQuerySingleResult[]>))] [KnownType(typeof(Dictionary<string, List<OptionQuerySingleResult>>))] [KnownType(typeof(OptionQuerySingleResult)] However, none of those approaches worked and on the client side I'm either getting that deserialization failed or the server simply aborted the request, causing a connection aborted error. Does anyone have an idea on what's the proper way to get this to work? I'd like to add, the if I change the QueryResultItems definition to use the concrete type, instead of the interface, everything works just fine. Thanks, Tom

• Adding scrollbars to UserControl

  I am trying to add vertical and horizontal scrollbars to my UserControl with the HorizontalScroll and VerticalScroll properties, but I am having extreme issues. My problem arises when I drag or manipulate the scroll box on the bar. When I let it go, it simply jumps back to the start position! I know of the AutoScroll property, but I do not want to use it since I want to be able to control every aspect of my scrollbars, and I don't want it to be done automatically. Also, according to the documentation, AutoScroll is for "[enabling] the user to scroll to any controls placed outside of its visible boundaries" which isn't what I want. I just want scrollbars. ...aaand I suppose I could add VScrollBar and HScrollBar to the control, but why should I do this when the scroll functionality already exists? Seems like a waste to me.

• What to do when you need more verbs in REST

  There is another similar question to mine, but the discussion veered away from the problem I'm encounting. Say I have a system that deals with expense reports (ER). You can create and edit them, add attachments, and approve/reject them. An expense report might look like this: GET /er/1 => {"title": "Trip to NY", "totalcost": "400 USD", "comments": [ "john: Please add the total cost", "mike: done, can you approve it now?" ], "approvals": [ {"john": "Pending"}, {"finance-group": "Pending"}] } That looks fine, right? Thats what an expense report document looks like. If you want to update it, you can do this: POST /er/1 {"title": "Trip to NY 2010"} If you want to approve it, you can do this: POST /er/1/approval {"approved": true} But, what if you want to update the report and approve it at the same time? How do we do that? If you only wanted to approve, then doing a POST to something like /er/1/approval makes sense. We could put a flag in the URL, POST /er/1?approve=1, and send the data changes as the body, but that flag doesn't seem RESTful. We could put special field to be submitted, too, but that seems a bit hacky, too. If we did that, then why not send up data with attributes like set_title or add_to_cost? We could create a new resource for updating and approving, but (1) I can't think of how to name it without verbs, and (2) it doesn't seem right to name a resource based on what actions can be done to it (what happens if we add more actions?) We could have an X-Approve: True|False header, but headers seem like the wrong tool for the job. It'd also be difficult to get set headers without using javascript in a browser. We could use a custom media-type, application/approve+yes, but that seems no better than creating a new resource. We could create a temporary "batch operations" url, /er/1/batch/A. The client then sends multiple requests, perhaps POST /er/1/batch/A to update, then POST /er/1/batch/A/approval to approve, then POST /er/1/batch/A/status to end the batch. On the backend, the server queues up all the batch requests somewhere, then processes them in the same backend-transaction when it receives the "end batch processing" request. The downside with this is, obviously, that it introduces a lot of complexity. So, what is a good, general way to solve the problem of performing multiple actions in a single request? General because its easy to imagine additional actions that might be done in the same request: Suppress or send notifications (to email, chat, another system, whatever) Override some validation (maximum cost, names of dinner attendees) Trigger backend workflow that doesn't have a representation in the document.

  I am new to hibernate queries, and trying to get a grasp on how everything works. I am using Hibernate 3 with Netbeans 6.5. I have a basic project set up and have been playing around with how to do everything. I started with essentially a search query. Where the user can enter values into one or more fields. The table would be Person with the columns first_name, middle_name, last_name for the sake of the example.   This is the opposite question of this one. My purpose is that there is no need when you write only PHP5 code to have PHP4 compatibility. It is not helpful at all and due to differences between object models in those two version, it must be penalizing on interpreter performances (or am I wrong ?). So my questions are : is it possible to recompile PHP5 without retrocompatibility with PHP4 or to disable it in any other way to gain performances ? if it is not possible, is there a project somewhere which aim that goal ?

  Does anyone have a solution (that doesn't involve editing the hosts file) to block a particular URL from FireFox? Basic back story is that I'm trying to discipline myself. I'm spending FAR too much time over at Server Fault that I want to genuinely block the site from my work PC so that every time I find myself flicking to it during work time I can't see it, but I'd like to be able to disable it during my lunch break. (So I only spend 40 minutes a day there, rather than 4 hours). That said I don't want to block it at the router, nor for anyone else.

I used NetBeans to create the resources of RESTful service with MySQL, and now I can now use GET and POST/PUT to list and add/modify data entities in the MySQL server. • CentOS 6.5 as WebServer for Django Dev

  During CentOS 6.5 Installation I choose WebServer type for this computer. The server has a static IP address 192.168.111.100. The CentOS was updated I managed to install virtualenv with Python 2.7. Within the virtualenv, I'll be using Django Framework. After I tried to run the command using root user python manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8000 I can't see the website from other computer within the LAN when I try to type 192.168.111.100:8000/admin on my browser. I already disable firewall using service iptables stop I can ping the 192.168.111.100 and I have a good feedback with nslookup. What seems the problem of my config?

• How to fix monitor detection on Windows 7?

  Hi, I'm using Windows 7 + Windows Media Center for my HTPC. It works great except from one annoying issue. Whenever I turn off my TV while listening the music, the music stop for a second or while Windows 7 tries to figure out what monitor is attached. After that second it settles down on a default 800x640. While not a big deal, it is annoying as I don't want to have the TV on while playing music. Is there anyway to fix the monitor/disable monitor auto-detection on Windows 7 so it would not start recalibrating everything when I turn off my TV? Thanks, Boaz

  I am developing a web service and depend on 3rd party developers to write client applications for it. I need to set a developer portal, a web site where existing and potential developers would find documentation html pages doc files for download libraries downloads wiki forums support ticketing system. There should be a public part and a part protected by login. I want only logged in users to submit tickets, for example. I don't want to host it. I would prefer a generic design based on a sensible template, where I can add minimal customization, such as logo. I don't want to add code to get any of the above functionality. I will do all that if necessary, but I'd hope there would be an online service to do thing like that. What services would you guys recommend?

• Sharepoint: Is there a maximum number of permission levels?

  Hi, I get an error when trying to add a new permission level that due to a "contingency limit" I cannot add another permission level. I should delete an existing one and try again. (Sorry, no original error msg as this originates from a German WSS install, hence this is just a translation). There are about 1000 permission levels already. I know about Sharepoint's (WSS 2007 / WSS3) limitations relating to security principals like explained here, but I don't know of any limitations relating to permission levels. Is there any way to group the permission levels? I need as much as 2000 permission levels as there are many constellations of access rights per group.

• Richfaces modal panel and a4j:keepAlive

  Hello! I've got unexpected problems with richfaces (3.3.2) modal panel. When i try to open it, browser opens two panels instead of one: one is in the center, another is in the upper left corner. Besides, no fading happens. Also i have three modes: view, edit, new - and when i open my panel it should show either "Create new..." or "Edit..." in the header and actually it shows but not in the header as the latter isn't rendered at all though it should, because i set proper mode in action before opening this modal panel. Besides it works fine on all other pages i've made and there are tens of such pages in my application. I can't understand what's wrong here. The only way to fix it is to remove <a4j:keepAlive/> from the page that is very strange, imho. I'm not sure if code will be usefull here as it works fine everywhere in my application but this only case. So if you put it on your page it will probably work without problems. My only question is: are there any hidden or rare problems in interaction of these two elements (<rich:modalPanel> and <a4j:keepAlive>)? Or shall i spent another two or three days searching for some wrong comma, parenthesis or whatever in my code? :) For most curious. • Problem with PHP 'PHP_SELF'

  I am having a bit of trouble. It does not seem to be a big deal, but I have created a page that the user can edit a MySQL database. Once they click submit it should process the php within the if statement and echo 1 record updated. The problem is that it does not wait to echo the statement. It just seems to ignore the way I wrote my if and display the whole page. • Subroutine & GoTo design

  I have a strange question concerning subroutines: As I'm creating a minimal language and I don't want to add high-level loops like while or for I was planning on just adding gotos to keep it Turing-Complete. Now I thought, eww - gotos - I wouldn't want to program in that language if I had to use gotos so often. So I thought about adding subroutines instead. I see the difference as the following: gotos Go to (captain obvious) a previously defined point and continue executing the program from there. Leads to hardly understandable and buggy code, I think that's a fact. subroutines Similiar: You define their starting point somewhere, as you call them the program jumps there - but the subroutine can go back to the point it was called from with return. Okay. Why didn't I just add the more function-like, nice looking subroutines? Because: In order to make return work if I call subroutines from within subroutines from within other subroutines, I'd have to use a stack containing the point where the currently running subroutine came from at top. That would then mean that I would, if I create loops using the subroutines, end up with an extremely memory-eating, overflowing stack with return locations. Not good. Don't think of my subroutines as functions. They are just gotos that return to the point they were called from, they don't actually give back values like the return x; statement in nearly all today's languages. Now to my actual questions: How can I solve the above problem with the stack overflow on loops with subroutines? Do I have to add a separate goto language construct without the return option? Assembler doesn't have loops but as I have seen myJumpPoint:, jnz, jz, retn. That means to me that there must also be a stack containing all the return locations. Am I right with that? What about long running loops then? Don't they overflow the stack/eat memory then? Am I getting the retn symbol in assembler totally wrong? If yes, please explain it to me.

• Restoring database with SMO - Reporting progress problems

  I'm using the below to restore a database in VB.NET. This works but causes the interface to lockup if the user clicks anything.
