• Are keys and values of %INC platform-dependent or not?

  I'd like to get the full filename of an included module. Consider this code: package MyTest; my $path = join '/', split /::/, __PACKAGE__; $path .= ".pm"; print "$INC{$path}\n"; 1; $ perl -Ipath/to/module -MMyTest -e0 path/to/module/MyTest.pm Will it work on all platforms? perlvar The hash %INC contains entries for each filename included via the do, require, or useoperators. The key is the filename you specified (with module names converted to pathnames), and the value is the location of the file found. Are these keys platform-dependent or not? Should I use File::Spec or what? At least ActivePerl on win32 uses / instead of \. Update: What about %INC values? Are they platform-dependent?

• How can I sort by a transformable attribute in an NSFetchedResultsController?

  I'm using NSValueTransformers to encrypt attributes (strings, dates, etc.) in my Core Data model, but I'm pretty sure it's interfering with the sorting in my NSFetchedResultsController. Does anyone know if there's a way to get around this? I suppose it depends on how the sort is performed; if it's always only performed directly on the database, then I'm probably out of luck. If it sorts on the objects themselves, then perhaps there's a way to activate the transformation before the sort occurs. I'm guessing it's directly on the database, though, since the sort would be key in grabbing subsets of the collection, which is the main benefit of NSFetchedResultsController anyway.

  I am using vim/gvim for 4 months already and now I found a way to use it's strengths. My tags file is generated very well and here is a simple row in it. my.namespace.classname /path/to/file.js /^my.namespace.classname = function(first_arg,$/;" f Here is an example what i need to omnicomplete: my.namespace.cla <- omnicomplete list with all classnames in the my.namespace The above is the key to my problem, because it looks like omnicomplete searches only namespace without including "my." in front of it. So i see other element in the omnicomplete list and not my classname at all. However, if i type :tag my.namespace.classname for example gvim opens the correct file at the correct position. What is wrong and how can I make it work?

• Idiomatic way to do list/dict in Cython?

  My problem: I've found that processing large data sets with raw C++ using the STL map and vector can often be considerably faster (and with lower memory footprint) than using Cython. I figure that part of this speed penalty is due to using Python lists and dicts, and that there might be some tricks to use less encumbered data structures in Cython. For example, this page (http://wiki.cython.org/tutorials/numpy) shows how to make numpy arrays very fast in Cython by predefining the size and types of the ND array. Question: Is there any way to do something similar with lists/dicts, e.g. by stating roughly how many elements or (key,value) pairs you expect to have in them? That is, is there an idiomatic way to convert lists/dicts to (fast) data structures in Cython? If not I guess I'll just have to write it in C++ and wrap in a Cython import.

  Dear All , I have to generate keys from cWrsync, I have Command: "ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\.ssh\id_rsa" I placed that command into a batch file, that is pointing to cwRsync\bin directory, where ssh-keygen exe file is located, That batch file working fine Windows, But in Vista it is throwing unexpected result... the output of batch on Vista is: C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin>ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f C:\ProgramData\.ssh\i d_rsa open C:\\ProgramData\\.ssh\\id_rsa failed: Bad address. Saving the key failed: C:\ProgramData\.ssh\id_rsa. The intersting thing is that if i manually run this command in commandline , it again run successfully,

  I work in a shop that is a mix of mostly Java and .NET technologists. When discussing new solutions and architectures we often encounter impedance in trying to compare the various technologies, frameworks, APIs etc. in use between the two camps. It seems that each camp knows little about the other and we end up comparing apples to oranges and forgetting about the bushels. While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? WCF WPF Silverlight WF Generics Lambda expressions Linq (not Linq-to-SQL) TPL F# IronPython IronRuby ...have i missed anything else?   I am trying to add drop down menus to a drupal theme which uses text sliding door CSS rounding. The current version uses a primary links injection of the span into the a tags, which works fine. But doesn't support drop down menus. I have tried every angle I could find to edit the drupal function menu_item_link which is used by nice menus to build the links. E.g. I looked at the drupal forum for two days and no joy.   I was talking with some of the mentors in a local robotics competition for 7th and 8th level kids. The robot was using PBASIC and the parallax Basic Stamp. One of the major issues was this was short term project that required building the robot, teaching them to program in PBASIC and having them program the robot. All in only 2 hours or so a week over a couple months. PBASIC is kinda nice in that it has built in features to do everything, but information overload is possible to due this. My thought are simplicity is key. When you have kids struggling to grasp: if X>10 then <DOSOMETHING> There is not much point in throwing "proper" object oriented programming at them. What are the essentials needed to foster an interest in programming?

  I've been digging around the NHibernate sources a little, trying to understand how NHibernate implements removing child elements from a collection. I think I've already found the answer, but I'd ideally like this to be confirmed by someone familiar with the matter. So far I've found AbstractPersistentCollection (base class for all collection proxies) has a static helper method called GetOrphans to find orphans by comparing the current collection with a snapshot. The existence of this method suggests NHibernate tries to find all oprhaned elements and then deletes them by key. Is this correct, in terms of the generated SQL?

• Facebook RESTful API require_login() callback

  Hi, I'm trying to authenticate a user through the RESTful API (not Connect) but I can't since the callback system does not work for me. I have a local app that creates the Facebook API object with my key and secret, then calls the Facebook API require_login() method; I am sent to Facebook login, I login, and then I am sent to http://www.facebook.com/login.php?auth_token=<...>, where there's another login with just a field for password (not username), I write it again, and after that I am redirected to normal Facebook home. What am I doing wrong? I have set the callback URL in the Facebook app proprieties. Does it have anything to do with the fact that it's localhost? Thanks!

Each post has a foreign key relation to a "Thread" and a "User" as well as a creation date. The trick is I don't want to show two posts by the same user or two posts in the same thread. Is it possible to create a query that contains all this logic? # Grab the last 10 posts.   I've got an issue when using the Google Visualization api line chart with Jquery ui tabs. I've got two graphs on two tabs. The first graph, which is visible by default displays fine: the second chart on the hidden tab seems to be messing up the key: I've tried changing the options but nothing I do seems to make any difference. • What event do I need to supress to stop IE from "Dinging" when I press enter in a text box?

  On simple forms with one text box pressing enter submits the form (and this is great for easy search forms) However on a form with multiple fields, pressing Enter in an input="text" box won't do anything (e.g. submit) but in IE it "Dings" as if you have tried to delete an undeletable object. The question is... what event do I need to suppress in IE to stop this sound? e.g. if I have a username/password form, I DO want the enter key to submit the form, but I certainly don't want the "error" sound. • How can I hide a database column in the entity model?

  Hi. I'm using the Entity Framework 4 and have a question: I have a password column in my database that I want to manage using custom SQL. So I don't want the model to know anything about it. I've tried deleting the property in the Mapping Details window, but then I got a compilation error: Error 3023: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1660:Column User.Password in table User must be mapped: It has no default value and is not nullable. So, I made the column nullable in the database and updated the model. Now I get this error: Error 3004: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 1660:No mapping specified for properties User.Password, User.Salt in Set Users. An Entity with Key (PK) will not round-trip when: Entity is type [UserDirectoryModel.User] Any ideas please? Thanks, Nick

• Using Google AppEngine app as a OAuth provider

  Hi, I'm using the Google AppEngine 1.3.4 SDK which offers to allow your application to act as a OAuth service provider (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/oauth/). Setting up a standard application on my localhost and using the following: Request URL /_ah/OAuthGetRequestToken Authorize URL /_ah/OAuthAuthorizeToken Access Token URL /_ah/OAuthGetAccessToken The client application just gets sent to a page requesting to grant OAuth access even though no user is logged in. Clicking 'Grant access' results in a message saying 'OAuth access granted' with no tokens or anything exchange. Can't see how this could work when it's not even prompting for a login. As this functionality is quite new I can't find much out there. I've created a OAuth provider before in Rails and know that you need a Consumer Key and Secret, something that seems to be lacking in GAE? Any ideas on how to get OAuth working in a sample GAE project are most welcome.

• Is there a workaround to Safari's/Opera's bug that you can't tab through hyperlinks?

  In IE, Firefox, Chrome and most Windows-based interfaces that I've used, the Tab key can be used to navigate from one form field or hyperlink to the next (e.g. "actionable" items) (note: I have not tested on other Operating Systems) However Safari and Opera skip all hyperlinks in a web page when tabbing. IMHO its a usability bug but I digress. Is there a workaround/hack to make Safari and/or Opera navigate through these links? I've noticed that Opera will accept the tabindex attribute if set e.g. tabindex="0" thus maintaining the links "index" within the flow of the DOM on the page... but Safari does not want to accept this. For those interested, this bit of jQuery will make all the hyperlinks clickable. //Make links 'tab-able' in Opera $(document).ready(function(){ if($.browser.opera){ $('a[href]').attr('tabindex', 0); } }); ...and although this seems to work for Opera... is there a better workaround?

• Select Box not filling properly in rails

  I am creating a select box for a form using this in _form.html.erb <%= f.select(:category_id,options_for_select(@cats)) %> @cats is an array created in my controller like this: @cats = [] categories.each do |c| @cats.push([c.full_name,c.id]) end The select box is properly filled, and the selected foreign key is even properly saved to the database. The problem is, when I come back in my edit action, the select box is moved back to the first item in the list, not the one corresponding to category_id. Reading the documentation it seems like this should just magically work. How do I get it to select the proper value?
