• Simple GET operation with JSON data in ADF Mobile

  Usecase: This sample uses a RESTful service which contains a GET method that fetches employee details for an employee with given employee ID along with other methods. The data is fetched in JSON format. This RESTful service is then invoked via ADF Mobile and the JSON data thus obtained is parsed and rendered in mobile in a table. Prerequisite: Download JDev build JDEVADF_11.1.2.4.0_GENERIC_130421.1600.6436.1 or higher with mobile support.  Steps: Run EmployeeService.java in JSONService.zip. This is a simple service with a method, getEmpById(id) that takes employee ID as parameter and produces employee details in JSON format. Copy the target URL generated on running this service. The target URL will be as shown below: http://127.0.0.1:7101/JSONService-Project1-context-root/jersey/project1 Now, let us invoke this service in our mobile application. For this, create an ADF Mobile application.  Name the application JSON_SearchByEmpID and finish the wizard. Now, let us create a connection to our service. To do this, we create a URL Connection. Invoke new gallery wizard on ApplicationController project.  Select URL Connection option. In the Create URL Connection window, enter connection name as ‘conn’. For URL endpoint, supply the URL you copied earlier on running the service. Remember to use your system IP instead of localhost. Test the connection and click OK. At this point, a connection to the REST service has been created. Since JSON data is not supported directly in WSDC wizard, we need to invoke the operation through Java code using RestServiceAdapter. For this, in the ApplicationController project, create a Java class called ‘EmployeeDC’. We will be creating DC from this class. At line 4, we are pointing to the connection ‘conn’ created previously. Since we want to invoke getEmpById method of the service, which is defined by the URL http://IP:7101/REST_Sanity_JSON-Project1-context-root/resources/project1/getById/{id} we are updating the request URI to point to this URI at line 9. inputEmpID is a variable that will hold the value input by the user for employee ID. This we will be creating in a while. As the method we are invoking is a GET operation and consumes json data, these properties are being set in lines 5 through 7. Finally, we are sending the request in line 13. In line 15, we use jsonHelper.fromJSON to convert received JSON data to a Java object. The required Java objects' structure is defined in class Employee.java whose structure is provided later. Since the response from our service is a simple response consisting of attributes like employee Id, name, design etc, we will just return this parsed response (line 16) and use it to create DC. As mentioned previously, we would like the user to input the employee ID for which he/she wants to perform search. So, in the same class, define a variable inputEmpID which will hold the value input by the user. Generate accessors for this variable. Lastly, we need to create Employee class. Employee class will define how we want to structure the JSON object received from the service. To design the Employee class, run the services’ method in the browser or via analyzer using path parameter as 1. This will give you the output JSON structure. Ours is a simple service that returns a JSONObject with a set of data. Hence, Employee class will just contain this set of data defined with the proper data types. Now, you can design the mobile page as usual and invoke the operation of the service. To design the page, go to ViewController project and locate adfmf-feature.xml. Create a new feature called ‘SearchFeature’ by clicking the plus icon. Go the content tab and add an amx page. Call it SearchPage.amx. Call it SearchPage.amx. Remove primary and secondary buttons as we don’t need them and rename the header. Drag and drop inputEmpID from the DC palette onto Panel Page in the structure pane as input text with label. Next, drop fetchEmpDetails method as an ADF button. For a change, let us display the output in a table component instead of the usual form. However, you will notice that if you drag and drop Employee onto the structure pane, there is no option for ADF Mobile Table. Hence, we will need to create the table on our own. To do this, let us first drop Employee as an ADF Read -Only form. This step is needed to get the required bindings. We will be deleting this form in a while. Now, from the Component palette, search for ‘Table Layout’. Drag and drop this below the command button.  Within the tablelayout, insert ‘Row Layout’ and ‘Cell Format’ components. Final table structure should be as shown below.   At the company I work for, we have an intranet that provides employees with access to a wide variety of documents. These documents fall into several categories and subcategories, and each of these categories have their own web page. Below is one such page (each of the links shown will link to a similar view for that category): We currently store each document as a file on the web server and hand-code links to these documents whenever we need to add a new document. This is tedious and error-prone, and it also means we lack any sort of security for accessing these documents. I began looking into document management systems (like KnowledgeTree and OpenKM), however, none of these systems seem to provide a categorized view like in the preview above. My question is ... does anyone know of any Document Management System that allow for the type of flexibility we currently have with hand-coding links to our documents into various webpages (major and minor , while also providing security, ease of use, and (less important) version control? Or do you think I'd be better off developing such a system from scratch?

There filter parameters should come from the FilterRow of the AspxGridView (preferably using the AspxGriedView.FilterExpression property). The problem: the AspxGriedView.FilterExpression property is not set to the proper values (set by the user). Did anyone find a good implementation of what I'm trying to do here? Thanks a bunch. :)

  I am developing a web page that needs to display, in an iframe, a report served by another company's SharePoint server. They are fine with this. The page we're trying to render in the iframe is giving us X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN which causes the browser (at least IE8) to refuse to render the content in a frame. First, is this something they can control or is it something SharePoint just does by default? If I ask them to turn this off, could they even do it? Second, can I do something to tell the browser to ignore this http header and just render the frame?

  I have an application using OpenLayers, Extjs and GeoExt. My application runs fine, but I need it to be placed inside an IFrame in another page. When doing this, my toolbar becomes responseless in Internet Explorer. The cause is Ext.QuickTips.init();. Comment out this line and everything works fine - except the quick tips ofcourse =) But why is it causing problems? Is it because I'm using it wrong, placing it wrong or just because it doesn't like IE and IFrames? • MVC Partial View to Call Display Pop-up window using jquery

  Hi I have a index page the renders objects from my database as a treeview, each item has a link href="/MessageGroupType/Edit/1002 that makes an Ajax call to display a partial view in a DIV. Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record. • Varnish 3.0.2 and ISPConfig 3.0.4

  I followed the tutorial The Perfect Server - Ubuntu 11.10 [ISPConfig 3] here. I'm running an Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) server with 1024 RAM on Rackspace. I've gone through and updated to ISPConfig 3.0.4. Everything has been working great up to now when I decided to try and install Varnish. Initially I did an install of Varnish by issuing: apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install varnish Apparently the version that was installed was Varnish 2.x so I went back and added the repositories for packages provided by varnish-cache.org curl http://repo.varnish-cache.org/debian/GPG-key.txt | apt-key add - echo "deb http://repo.varnish-cache.org/ubuntu/ lucid varnish-3.0" >> /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update apt-get install varnish This updated my version of Varnish to 3.0.2 I then proceeded to make the following changes: vim /etc/default/varnish change DAEMON_OPTS to port 80: vim /etc/apache2/ports.conf NameVirtualHost *:8000 Listen 8000 vim /etc/apache2/sites-available/default <VirtualHost *:8000> vim /etc/apache2/sites-available/ispconfig.vhost Listen 8080 NameVirtualHost *:8080 <VirtualHost _default_:8080> I then proceeded to set my other vhosts to use 8000 (the apache2 port) so with all this set I reset both Apache2 and Varnish to test. I used Firebug in Firefox 11.0 The output from what I see doesn't seem to indicate that Varnish is working completely correct: First of all I see: X-Varnish 1644834493 but I've heard that unless you have two timestamps side by side than it's probably not working correctly so for example I was thinking I might see something like: X-Varnish 1644834493 1644837493 Also if I noticed this in the output which seems to be inconstant: X-Drupal-Cache MISS There are times when it will say HIT as well.... So the question here that I have is I think Varnish is partially working, however, why don't I see two timestamps on X-Varnish like I'm thinking I should and does the output of the screenshot I have look correct? If Varnish isn't working can someone tell me what I might being doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I am trying to learn how to use different views, for this sample test app, i have a login page, upon successful logon, the user is redirected to a table view and then upon selection of an item in the table view, the user is directed to a third page showing details of the item. the first page works just fine, but the problem occurs when i go to the second page, the table shown doesn't have title and i cannot add title or toolbar or anything other than the content of the tables themselves. and when i click on the item, needless to say nothing happens. no errors as well. i am fairly new to programming and have always worked on Java but never on C(although i have some basic knowledge of C) and Objective C is new to me.   I have got IIS7 running on my Windows 2008 Server It works perfectly working for the sites and the folder that I hosted before. Now I am trying to host a folder which contains two subfolder(the subfolders contain some images). I have correctly set the IIS_IUSRS permissions on the site folder.   Hi People, I have an environment variable set in Windows as TEST=abc£ which uses Windows-1252 code page. Now when I run a perl program - 'test.pl', this environment value comes properly. When I call another perl code - 'test2.pl' from 'test1.pl' either by system(..) or Win32::process(..), the environment comes garbled. Can someone provide information why this could be and way to resolve it? The version of perl I am using is 5.8. If my understanding is right, perl internally uses 'utf-8', so the initial process - 'test1.pl' received it right from windows1252-utf-8. When we call another process, should we convert back to windows 1252 code page? -Kartlee

• Spring Security - Interactive login attempt was unsuccessful

  I've been trying to track down why Spring Security isn't creating the SPRING_SECURITY_REMEMBER_ME_COOKIE so I turned on logging for org.springframework.security.web.authentication.rememberme. At first glance, the logs make it seem like the login is failing but the login is actually successful in the sense that if I navigate to a page that requires authentication I am not redirected back to the login page. However, the logs appear to be saying the login credentials are invalid. Any ideas as to what is going on? • jQuery AutoComplete select firing after change?

  I'm using the jQuery UI AutoComplete control (just updated to jQuery UI 1.8.1). Whenever the user leaves the text box, I want to set the contents of the text box to a known-good value and set a hidden ID field for the value that was selected. Additionally, I want the page to post back when the contents of the text box are changed. Currently, I am implementing this by having the autocomplete select event set the hidden id and then a change event on the text box which sets the textbox value and, if necessary, causes a post back. If the user just uses the keyboard, this works perfectly. You can type, use the up and down arrows to select a value and then tab to exit. The select event fires, the id is set and then the change event fires and the page posts back. If the user starts typing and then uses the mouse to pick from the autocomplete options though, the change event fires (as focus shifts to the autocomplete menu?) and the page posts back before the select event has a chance to set the ID. • Why won't this Apache modrewrite RewriteRule work?

  I'm trying to get Apache mod rewrite to work on my local machine. I'm running OSX with PHP 5 and the Apache mod rewrite module is enabled. I have a directory called localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin with various PHP includes called based on a $_GET variable. I want to let users type (in theory) localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages and have that URL stay in the address bar, while what gets displayed is localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/?admin=pages So. I've created a .htaccess file that sits in the /hfh directory. Inside, I've put this mod rewrite text: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^admin/([^/.]+)/?$ admin/?admin=$1 [L] When I go to the browser and type localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages I get a "Problem loading page" error, and Firefox says, "Oops. Firefox can't load this page for some reason." Can anyone help me figure this out? I have such a hard time with regex and mod rewrite...

• Show PDF in iPad using CGPDF APIs

  I have learned Apple has release CGPDF APIs in SDK 3.2 for drawing PDF context. What I understand from these APIs is that you can draw a PDF to a data object or a PDF file. You can then export it, may be, to your sandbox's directory OR add as an attachment in the mail. But I am not sure if we can use these APIs to read a PDF from application bundle and show it to the user page-by-page on the screen. What I want to do is open a PDF of a magazine in a magazine reader app. I was also wondering if we can identify the links in a PDF file and open them in the app. Let me know if have done OR doing anything like this. • jQuery button click refresh of jqGrid only firing once

  I have the following jQuery code which I'm using to populate a jqGrid. It works perfectly posting to my ASP.NET MVC page on the first click of the button. My problem is, any other clicks past the first it seems to run through the jquery code when clicking the button but it never makes it to the POST page.
