• Find package name for Android apps to use Intent to launch Market app from web

  I'm creating a mobile website that will include a page from which people can download relevant apps that we recommend. I've found instructions for creating the links to launch the Market but this assumes that you are the developer of the app in question and know the exact package name. Is there any way to get the package name, other than just contacting the developers and asking? Also, it turns out that those instructions don't really work for creating web hyperlinks. They only give you a URI to reference in a string of Java code in another Android app. Our site is in Drupal, so Java is not going to work. For the iPhone, I found easy instructions for getting the URL/link style I need from the iTunes store, so I'm looking for info like that.

• How to use sans-serif family, arial font in matplotlib, in ubuntu 12.04 lts?

  I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the Scipy stack. I tried to set in matplotlibrc to use sans-serif family, arial font as default. While this has been working on my Windows computer, it reported the following warning: UserWarning: findfont: Font family ['sans-serif'] not found. Falling back to Bitstream Vera Sans (prop.get_family(), self.defaultFamily[fontext])) And it seems that the font is either not installed, or in a wrong name. I think I have installed the TrueType font (by googling), but I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me to set the font family in the system with the name 'sans-serif' and find the relevant font files that belongs to this folder. • Adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute To Paypal ASP.NET SDK

  Currently, I cannot use Paypal Pro on my host (GoDaddy) because it requires Full trust level. After digging in Google, it seems a workaround is possible by adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute to the Paypal assembly. I have seen code samples that use AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute in their AssemblyInfo.cs file, however, I've yet to run into a code example that also happens to be using PayPal. My question is where should the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute be added in my project if my objective is to make the PayPal assembly work? I have tried adding it to my AssemblyInfo.cs for the project that contains the entire website, but I have not been successful. At this point, any insight or shot in the dark would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone could point me in the general direction of some documentation I would be grateful. I realize after reading this (http://www.asp.net/web-api/overview/extensibility/using-the-web-api-dependency-resolver) that these interfaces have changed, but I am not sure how to apply this change to how I use Autofac. Do i need to wait for a new release from Autofac or is there another way I can get past this.

  Hi, I have an API which I am turning into an internal DSL. As such, most methods in my PoJos return a reference to this so that I can chain methods together declaratively as such (syntactic sugar). myComponent .setID("MyId") .setProperty("One","1") .setProperty("Two","2") .setAssociation(anotherComponent) .execute(); My API does not depend on Spring but I wish to make it 'Spring-Friendly' by being PoJo friendly with zero argument constructors, getters and setters. The problem is that Spring seems to not detect my setter methods when I have a non-void return type. The return type of this is very convenient when chaining together my commands so I don't want to destroy my programmatic API just be to compatible with Spring injection. Is there a setting in Spring to allow me to use non-void setters? Chris

  I have one parent page with a parentManagedBean (attached to Session Scope). On click of a button on this parent page, one popup comes which has a childManagedBean (attached to Request scope). Now ChildManagedBedan holds a reference to parentManaged bean thru JSFs managed Property feature. On this popup window, user selects some option which populates a large value object class. I use the managed property of childMnaagedBean to set the values from this large object to that of parentmanagedbean. Problem is - The parent page shows a link, on click of which a popup comes, on selection of the popup, the popup disappears and set the values to the parentManaged bean.So far so good, but the newly set values need to appear on the parent page. This is where I am stuck. How to programatically render the master page/render page when I am at the child managed bean... is there a way I can get handle of the parent page and refresh it ?

• How does the Garbage Collector decide when to kill objects held by WeakReferences?

  I have an object, which I believe is held only by a WeakReference. I've traced its reference holders using SOS and SOSEX, and both confirm that this is the case (I'm not an SOS expert, so I could be wrong on this point). The standard explanation of WeakReferences is that the GC ignores them when doing its sweeps. Nonetheless, my object survives an invocation to GC.Collect(GC.MaxGeneration, GCCollectionMode.Forced). Is it possible for an object that is only referenced with a WeakReference to survive that collection? Is there an even more thorough collection that I can force? Or, should I re-visit my belief that the only references to the object are weak?

• How to center an R plot

  I'm working on visualizing a matrix in R (almost exactly like http://reference.wolfram.com/mathematica/ref/MatrixPlot.html), and I've been using image(<matrix>,axes=FALSE) to draw the picture. However, I noticed that with the y-axis turned off, the plot isn't centered--the space is still there for the axis ticks + label. I can finagle some centering with par(oma=c(0,0,0,2.5)) but this seems inefficient and error-prone (if my matrix were to change dimensions/become non-square). Is there a better way to force the graphic to center? The right hand margin is significantly smaller than the left.

• How to render a Partial from a Model in Rails 2.3.5

  I have a Rails 2.3.5 application and Im trying to render several Partials from within a Model (i know, i know -- im not supposed to). The reason im doing this is im integrating a Comet server (APE) into my Rails app and need to push updates out based on the Model's events (ex. after_create). I have tried doing this: ActionView::Base.new(Rails::Configuration.new.view_path).render(:partial => "pages/show", :locals => {:page => self}) Which allows me to render simple partials that don't user helpers, however if I try to user a link_to in my partial, i receive an error stating: undefined method `url_for' for nil:NilClass I've made sure that the object being passed into the "project_path(project)" is not nil. I've also tried including: include ActionView::Helpers::UrlHelper include ActionController::UrlWriter in the Module that contains the method that makes the above "render" call. Does anyone know how to work around this? Thanks

  Hi, I'm trying to use a custom UITableViewCell, and I've placed it in the same nib file as the UITableView controller. For this, the files are: NTItems.h, NTItems.m and NTItems.xib. I have defined the cell in the header file: IBOutlet UITableViewCell *cellview; and I've correctly applied the property: nonatomic, retain so it's there. In the m file - I've synthesized the variable device and am using this to get the custom cell: if(cell == nil){ cell = self.cellview; } However, when I load the table, I get this horrible mess: There should be more than 1 cell showing data as well. On another note, how do I map the labels to the text which is to be displayed?

• Strange behaviour with Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms

  I have a Windows Mobile application in which I want to check the device orientation. Therefore I wrote the following property in one of my forms: internal static Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.ScreenOrientation DeviceOriginalOrientation { get; private set; } The strange thing is that after that whenever I open a UserControl, the designer shows this warning even if that UserControl doesn't use the property: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969db8053d3322ac' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) Commenting the above property will dismiss the warning and shows the user control again. The application is built successfully and runs without any problems in both cases. Does anybody know why this happens and how can I fix it?

• What is the proper way to create a recursive entity in the Entity Framework?

  I'm currently using VS 2010 RC, and I'm trying to create a model that contains a recursive self-referencing entity. Currently when I import the entity from the model I get an error indicating that the parent property cannot be part of the association because it's set to 'Computed' or 'Identity', though I'm not sure why it does it that way. I've been hand-editing the file to get around that error, but then the model simply doesn't work. What is the proper way to get recursive entities to work in the Entity Framework.   Is it possible (and if so, safe) to create/use a block which takes a double pointer as an argument? For instance: - (void)methodWithBlock:(void (^)(NSError **error))block; Additional context, research, and questions: I'm using ARC. When I declare the method above and attempt to call it, XCode autocompletes my method invocation as follows: [self methodWithBlock:^(NSError *__autoreleasing *error) {}]; What does __autoreleasing mean here and why is it being added? I presume it has something to do with ARC. If this is possible and safe, can the pointer still be dereferenced in the block as it would be anywhere else? In general, what are the important differences between doing what I'm describing, and simply passing a double pointer as a method parameter (e.g. - (void)methodWithDoublePointer:(NSError **)error;)? What special considerations, if any, should be taken into account (again assuming this is possible at all)?

• resolving localhost in php so can be views outside VM

  I'm running Windows 7. Within, I'm running Virtualbox and Ubuntu. Within Ubuntu, I'm running Apache and using PHP codeigniter. To reference our CSS and JS files, we use this syntax: <?php echo site_url('css/styles.css'); ?> When viewing the site locally (within Ubuntu VM) that resolves to: http://localhost/styles.css So works fine. The catch is when I access that site from within Windows 7 (for IE testing). To access the site in Windows 7, I refer to the IP address of the VM: http://xx.x.x.x/ That loads the site but, alas, all the site_url variables are still being rewritten as 'localhost'. Said files obviously don't exist on the localhost of my windows 7. Is there a way around this short of just hard-coding relative links in my PHP file?

  I have some objects which have been created automatically by linq2SQL. I would like to write some code which should be run whenever the properties on these objects are read or changed. Can I use typical get { //code } and set {//code } in my partial class file to add this functionality? Currently I get an error about this member already being defined. This all makes sense. Is it correct that I will have to create a method to function as the entry point for this functionality, as I cannot redefine the get and set methods for this property. I was hoping to just update the get and set, as this would mean I wouldn't have to change all the reference points in my app. But I think I may just have to update it everywhere.

• UITableViewCell repeating problem

  I have a UItableview with cells. Some cells have uilabels and some have uibuttons. The UIbuttons are created whenever the first character in an array is "^". However, the uibuttons repeat when i scroll down (appearing over the uilabel).. and then multiply over the uilabels when I scroll up. Any clues why? The documents show the following example of how to retrieve events from a calendar: URL feedUrl = new URL("http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/[email protected]/private/full"); CalendarService myService = new CalendarService("exampleCo-exampleApp-1"); myService.setUserCredentials("[email protected]", "mypassword"); // Send the request and receive the response: CalendarEventFeed myFeed = myService.getFeed(feedUrl, CalendarEventFeed.class); This will retrieve all events from the primary calendar of the [email protected] account. However, I need to retrieve events from a secondary calendar. I already have a reference the CalendarEntry object that represents the secondary calendar, but I still can't figure out how to get events from it. I suspect I can do this using the same code as above, but I just need to change the URL to something else. Thanks, Donal

  I am processing an XML file (which does not contain any dtd or ent declarations) in C# that contains entities such as &eacute; and &agrave;. I receive the following exception when attempting to load an XML file... XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); xmlDoc.LoadXml(record); Reference to undeclared entity 'eacute'. I was able to track down the proper ent file here. How do I tell XmlDocument to use this ent file when loading my XML file?
