• This process does not work in JavaScript: createElement() -> setAttribute('id') -> getElementById()

    - by kristovaher
I was so sure that this question has been answered a thousand times before, but I've been unable to find an answer in StackOverflow. If there is already an answer and I was unable to find it then I apologize. I create hidden form elements dynamically like this: submitForm=document.getElementById('my-form'); var element=document.createElement('input'); element.id='hidden-form-data'; // or setAttribute('id','hidden-form-data'); element.name='my-hidden-form-data'; element.type='hidden'; element.value='my-data'; submitForm.appendChild(element); This works and the input field is created and it is taken into account when submitting the form. But I want to remove it after I have dynamically created it. I was sure that creating a new node this way would be 'correct' for browser and DOM, but apparently it is not. This returns null: element=document.getElementById('hidden-form-data'); if(element!=null){ element.parentNode.removeChild(element); } But it never gets removed and is always null. Is there any way I can remove a dynamically created node with an ID? Thank you! Please do not suggest jQuery, it's not possible to use jQuery for this, footprint is too heavy for such a small task I could not get a working answer from here, which was the closest thread I could find.

  • MS SQL - High performance data inserting with stored procedures

    - by Marks
Hi. Im searching for a very high performant possibility to insert data into a MS SQL database. The data is a (relatively big) construct of objects with relations. For security reasons i want to use stored procedures instead of direct table access. Lets say i have a structure like this: Document MetaData User Device Content ContentItem[0] SubItem[0] SubItem[1] SubItem[2] ContentItem[1] ... ContentItem[2] ... Right now I think of creating one big query, doing somehting like this (Just pseudo-code): EXEC @DeviceID = CreateDevice ...; EXEC @UserID = CreateUser ...; EXEC @DocID = CreateDocument @DeviceID, @UserID, ...; EXEC @ItemID = CreateItem @DocID, ... EXEC CreateSubItem @ItemID, ... EXEC CreateSubItem @ItemID, ... EXEC CreateSubItem @ItemID, ... ... But is this the best solution for performance? If not, what would be better? Split it into more querys? Give all Data to one big stored procedure to reduce size of query? Any other performance clue? I also thought of giving multiple items to one stored procedure, but i dont think its possible to give a non static amount of items to a stored procedure. Since 'INSERT INTO A VALUES (B,C),(C,D),(E,F) is more performant than 3 single inserts i thought i could get some performance here. Thanks for any hints, Marks

  • INSERT INTO ...SELECT syntax error in join operator

    - by user1477356
I'm trying to write a shopping basket into a order + orderline in a sql database from C# asp.net. the orderline will contain a ordernumber, total price, productid, quantity etc. for every item in the basket. The order itself will contain the ordernumber as primary key and will be linked to the different lines through it. Everything worked fine yesterday, but now as i tried to use a SELECT command in the insert into statement to get things more dynamic i'm getting the above described syntax error. Does anybody know what's wrong with this statement: INSERT INTO [order] (klant_id,totaalprijs,btw,subtotaal,verzendkosten) SELECT klant.id , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) , SUM(orderregel.btw) , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) - SUM(orderregel.btw) , 7.50 FROM orderregel INNER JOIN klant ON [order].klant_id = klant.id WHERE klant.username = 'jerry' GROUP BY id; the ordernumber in the "order" table is on autonumber, in the asp codebehind there is a for each which handles the lines being written for every product, there's an index set on 0 outside of this loop and is heightened with 1 every end of it. The executenonquery of the order is only executed once at the beginning of the first loop and the lines are added after with MAX(ordernumber) as ordernumber. I hope i have provided enough information and somebody is capable of helping me. Thanks in advance!

  • Batch Inserts And Prepared Query Error

    - by ircmaxell
Ok, so I need to populate a MS Access database table with results from a MySQL query. That's not hard at all. I've got the program written to where it copies a template .mdb file to a temp name and opens it via odbc. No problem so far. I've noticed that Access does not support batch inserting (VALUES (foo, bar), (second, query), (third query)). So that means I need to execute one query per row (there are potentially hundreds of thousands of rows). Initial performance tests show a rate of around 900 inserts/sec into Access. With our largest data sets, that could mean execution times of minutes (Which isn't the end of the world, but obviously the faster the better). So, I tried testing a prepared statement. But I keep getting an error (Warning: odbc_execute() [function.odbc-execute]: SQL error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]COUNT field incorrect , SQL state 07001 in SQLExecute in D:\....php on line 30). Here's the code I'm using (Line 30 is odbc_execute): $sql = 'INSERT INTO table ([field0], [field1], [field2], [field3], [field4], [field5]) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)'; $stmt = odbc_prepare($conn, $sql); for ($i = 200001; $i < 300001; $i++) { $a = array($i, "Field1 $", "Field2 $i", "Field3 $i", "Field4 $i", $i); odbc_execute($stmt, $a); } So my question is two fold. First, is there any idea on why I'm getting that error (I've checked, and the number in the array matches the field list which matches the number of parameter ? markers)? And second, should I even bother with this or just use the straight INSERT statements? Like I said, time isn't critical, but if it's possible, I'd like to get that time as low as possible (Then again, I may be limited by disk throughput, since 900 operations/sec is high already)... Thanks

  • Insert names into table if not already existing

    - by John
I am trying to build an application that allows users to submit names to be added to a db table (runningList). Before the name is added tho, I would like to check firstname and lastname against another table (controlList). It must exist in (controlList) or reply name not valid. If the name is valid I would like to then check firstname and lastname against (runningList) it make sure it isnt already there. If it isnt there, then insert firstname & lastname. If it is there, reply name already used. Below is code that worked before I tried to add the test against the controlList, I somehow broke it altogether while trying to add the extra step. if (mysql_num_rows(mysql_query('SELECT * FROM runninglist WHERE firstname=\'' .$firstname . '\' AND lastname=\'' . $lastname . '\' LIMIT 1')) == 0) { $sql="INSERT INTO runninglist (firstname, lastname) VALUES ('$_POST[firstname]','$_POST[lastname]')"; } else { echo "This name has been used."; } Any direction would be appreciated. Thanx John

  • How to lock a transaction for reading a row and then inserting in Hibernate?

    - by at
I have a table with a name and a name_count. So when I insert a new record, I first check what the maximum name_count is for that name. I then insert the record with that maximum + 1. Works great... except with mysql 5.1 and hibernate 3.5, by default the reads don't respect transaction boundaries. 2 of these inserts for the same name could happen at the same time and end up with the same name_count, which completely screws my application! Unfortunately, there are some specific situations where the above is actually fairly common. So what do I do? I assume I can do a pessimistic lock where any row I read is locked for further reading until I commit or roll-back my transaction. Or I can do an optimistic lock with a version column that automatically keeps trying until there are no conflicts? What's the best approach for my situation and how do I specify it in Hibernate 3.5 and mysql 5.1? The above table is massive and accessed frequently.

  • The best way to return related data in a SQL statement

    - by Darvis Lombardo
I have a question on the best method to get back to a piece of data that is in a related table on the other side of a many-to-many relationship table. My first method uses joins to get back to the data, but because there are multiple matching rows in the relationship table, I had to use a TOP 1 to get a single row result. My second method uses a subquery to get the data but this just doesn't feel right. So, my question is, which is the preferred method, or is there a better method? The script needed to create the test tables, insert data, and run the two queries is below. Thanks for your advice! Darvis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Create Tables -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DECLARE @TableA TABLE ( [A_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Description] [varchar](50) NULL) DECLARE @TableB TABLE ( [B_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [A_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [Description] [varchar](50) NOT NULL) DECLARE @TableC TABLE ( [C_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Description] [varchar](50) NOT NULL) DECLARE @TableB_C TABLE ( [B_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [C_ID] [int] NOT NULL) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Insert Test Data -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSERT INTO @TableA VALUES('A-One') INSERT INTO @TableA VALUES('A-Two') INSERT INTO @TableA VALUES('A-Three') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(1,'B-One') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(1,'B-Two') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(1,'B-Three') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(2,'B-Four') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(2,'B-Five') INSERT INTO @TableB (A_ID, Description) VALUES(3,'B-Six') INSERT INTO @TableC VALUES('C-One') INSERT INTO @TableC VALUES('C-Two') INSERT INTO @TableC VALUES('C-Three') INSERT INTO @TableB_C (B_ID, C_ID) VALUES(1, 1) INSERT INTO @TableB_C (B_ID, C_ID) VALUES(2, 1) INSERT INTO @TableB_C (B_ID, C_ID) VALUES(3, 1) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Get result - method 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SELECT TOP 1 C.*, A.Description FROM @TableC C JOIN @TableB_C BC ON BC.C_ID = C.C_ID JOIN @TableB B ON B.B_ID = BC.B_ID JOIN @TableA A ON B.A_ID = A.A_ID WHERE C.C_ID = 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Get result - method 2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SELECT C.*, (SELECT A.Description FROM @TableA A WHERE EXISTS (SELECT * FROM @TableB_C BC JOIN @TableB B ON B.B_ID = BC.B_ID WHERE BC.C_ID = C.C_ID AND B.A_ID = A.A_ID)) FROM @TableC C WHERE C.C_ID = 1

  • Why could "insert (...) values (...)" not insert a new row?

    - by nang
Hi, I have a simple SQL insert statement of the form: insert into MyTable (...) values (...) It is used repeatedly to insert rows and usually works as expected. It inserts exactly 1 row to MyTable, which is also the value returned by the Delphi statement AffectedRows:= myInsertADOQuery.ExecSQL. After some time there was a temporary network connectivity problem. As a result, other threads of the same application perceived EOleExceptions (Connection failure, -2147467259 = unspecified error). Later, the network connection was reestablished, these threads reconnected and were fine. The thread responsible for executing the insert statement described above, however, did not perceive the connectivity problems (No exceptions) - probably it was simply not executed while the network was down. But after the network connectivity problems myInsertADOQuery.ExecSQL always returned 0 and no rows were inserted to MyTable anymore. After a restart of the application the insert statement worked again as expected. For SQL Server, is there any defined case where an insert statment like the one above would not insert a row and return 0 as the number of affected rows? Primary key is an autogenerated GUID. There are no unique or check constraints (which should result in an exception anyway rather than not inserting a row). Are there any known ADO bugs (Provider=SQLOLEDB.1)? Any other explanations for this behaviour? Thanks, Nang.

  • Linux router: ping doesn't route back

    - by El Barto
I have a Debian box which I'm trying to set up as a router and an Ubuntu box which I'm using as a client. My problem is that when the Ubuntu client tries to ping a server on the Internet, all the packets are lost (though, as you can see below, they seem to go to the server and back without problem). I'm doing this in the Ubuntu Box: # ping -I eth1 my.remote-server.com PING my.remote-server.com (X.X.X.X) from 10.1.1.12 eth1: 56(84) bytes of data. ^C --- my.remote-server.com ping statistics --- 13 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 12094ms (I changed the name and IP of the remote server for privacy). From the Debian Router I see this: # tcpdump -i eth1 -qtln icmp tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth1, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes IP X.X.X.X > 10.1.1.12: ICMP echo reply, id 305, seq 7, length 64 IP 10.1.1.12 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 305, seq 8, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 10.1.1.12: ICMP echo reply, id 305, seq 8, length 64 IP 10.1.1.12 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 305, seq 9, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 10.1.1.12: ICMP echo reply, id 305, seq 9, length 64 IP 10.1.1.12 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 305, seq 10, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 10.1.1.12: ICMP echo reply, id 305, seq 10, length 64 IP 10.1.1.12 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 305, seq 11, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 10.1.1.12: ICMP echo reply, id 305, seq 11, length 64 ^C 9 packets captured 9 packets received by filter 0 packets dropped by kernel # tcpdump -i eth2 -qtln icmp tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth2, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes IP 192.168.1.10 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 213, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 192.168.1.10: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 213, length 64 IP 192.168.1.10 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 214, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 192.168.1.10: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 214, length 64 IP 192.168.1.10 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 215, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 192.168.1.10: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 215, length 64 IP 192.168.1.10 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 216, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 192.168.1.10: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 216, length 64 IP 192.168.1.10 > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 217, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > 192.168.1.10: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 217, length 64 ^C 10 packets captured 10 packets received by filter 0 packets dropped by kernel And at the remote server I see this: # tcpdump -i eth0 -qtln icmp tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 96 bytes IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 1, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 1, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 2, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 2, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 3, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 3, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 4, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 4, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 5, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 5, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 6, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 6, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 7, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 7, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 8, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 8, length 64 IP Y.Y.Y.Y > X.X.X.X: ICMP echo request, id 360, seq 9, length 64 IP X.X.X.X > Y.Y.Y.Y: ICMP echo reply, id 360, seq 9, length 64 18 packets captured 228 packets received by filter 92 packets dropped by kernel Here "X.X.X.X" is my remote server's IP and "Y.Y.Y.Y" is my local network's public IP. So, what I understand is that the ping packets are coming out of the Ubuntu box (10.1.1.12), to the router (10.1.1.1), from there to the next router (192.168.1.1) and reaching the remote server (X.X.X.X). Then they come back all the way to the Debian router, but they never reach the Ubuntu box back. What am I missing? • Parse XML tree with no id using LINQ to XML

Requirement I want to read a XML tree, fill my objects with encountered attributes and after every run a method (insert it into my db). The amount of parents is not specified, also the order is not specified, it could be, address-death-death-address-address for example Input file Overview: <Root> <Element> <Element2> <Parent> <Child> <Grandchild> <Grandchild> </Child> </Parent> </Element2> </Element1> </Root> Full example: <Root> <Element1> <Element2> <Parent> <Child> <Grandchild> <number>01</number>
<Rows> <Row> <number>0110</number>
<value>123456789</value> </Row> </Rows> </Grandchild> <Grandchild> <number>08</number>
<Rows> <Row> <number>1110</number>
<value>first aveneu</value> </Row> <Row> <number>1120</number>
<value>345</value> </Row> <Row> <number>1130</number>
<value>2938PS</value> </Row> <Row> <number>1160</number>
<value>Germany</value> </Row> </Rows> </Grandchild> </Child> </Parent> <Parent> <Child> <Grandchild> <number>01</number>
<Rows> <Row> <number>0110</number>
<value>987654321</value> </Row> </Rows> </Grandchild> <Grandchild> <number>06</number>
<Rows> <Row> <number>0810</number>
<value>2012-01-03</value> </Row> <Row> <number>0820</number>
<value>attic</value> </Row> <Row> <number>0830</number>
<value>burrial</value> </Row> </Rows> </Grandchild> </Child> </Parent> </Element2> </Element1> </Root> Desired result After encounter of parent determine type of grandchild (number 6 is death number 8 is address) Every parent has ALWAYS grandchild number 1 'Person', the second grandchild is either death or address. reading first parent Person person = new Person(); person.ID = value; <--- filled with 123456789 person.street = value; <--- filled with first aveneu person.streetnumber = value; <--- filled with 345 person.zip = value; <--- filled with 2938PS person.country = value; <--- filled with germany person.DoMethod(); // inserts the value in db Continue reading next parent. • Please verify my layout: bottom button keeps coming up over keyboard

    - by steff
    Hi everyone, I have a layout which does almost what I want. There's just one bug regarding the button at the bottom. I should stay at the bottom at all times. But whenever I bring up the soft-keyboard the button will be displayed above the keyboard. This is not what I want but it should become covered by the keyboard. Moreover, I'd be happy if you could comment on how the layout's built. Thanks, steff <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/l_layout_tags" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <TextView android:text="TAGS:" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <AutoCompleteTextView android:id="@+id/actv_tags" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:imeOptions="actionDone" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_add_tag" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_input_add" android:onClick="addTag"/> </LinearLayout> <ScrollView android:id="@+id/sv_scroll_contents" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/l_layout_tags" android:scrollbarFadeDuration="2000" > <TableLayout android:id="@+id/t_layout_contents" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:stretchColumns="1" android:paddingRight="5dip"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/tr_template"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/iv_blank" android:src="@android:color/transparent" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/et_content1" android:gravity="top" android:maxWidth="200dp" android:imeOptions="actionDone" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </ScrollView> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/l_layout_media_btns" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_below="@id/sv_scroll_contents" > <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_camera" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_camera" android:onClick="takePicture" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_video" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_camera" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_audio" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_btn_speak_now" /> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_sketch" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_edit" /> </LinearLayout> <ImageButton android:id="@+id/btn_save_note" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_menu_upload" /> </RelativeLayout>

  • WiX 3 Tutorial: Custom EULA License and MSI localization

    - by Mladen Prajdic
In this part of the ongoing Wix tutorial series we’ll take a look at how to localize your MSI into different languages. We’re still the mighty SuperForm: Program that takes care of all your label color needs. :) Localizing the MSI With WiX 3.0 localizing an MSI is pretty much a simple and straightforward process. First let look at the WiX project Properties->Build. There you can see "Cultures to build" textbox. Put specific cultures to build into the testbox or leave it empty to build all of them. Cultures have to be in correct culture format like en-US, en-GB or de-DE. Next we have to tell WiX which cultures we actually have in our project. Take a look at the first post in the series about Solution/Project structure and look at the Lang directory in the project structure picture. There we have de-de and en-us subfolders each with its own localized stuff. In the subfolders pay attention to the WXL files Loc_de-de.wxl and Loc_en-us.wxl. Each one has a <String Id="LANG"> under the WixLocalization root node. By including the string with id LANG we tell WiX we want that culture built. For English we have <String Id="LANG">1033</String>, for German <String Id="LANG">1031</String> in Loc_de-de.wxl and for French we’d have to create another file Loc_fr-FR.wxl and put <String Id="LANG">1036</String>. WXL files are localization files. Any string we want to localize we have to put in there. To reference it we use loc keyword like this: !(loc.IdOfTheVariable) => !(loc.MustCloseSuperForm) This is our Loc_en-us.wxl. Note that German wxl has an identical structure but values are in German. <WixLocalization Culture="en-us" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/localization" Codepage="1252"> <String Id="LANG">1033</String> <String Id="ProductName">SuperForm</String> <String Id="LicenseRtf" Overridable="yes">\Lang\en-us\EULA_en-us.rtf</String> <String Id="ManufacturerName">My Company Name</String> <String Id="AppNotSupported">This application is is not supported on your current OS. Minimal OS supported is Windows XP SP2</String> <String Id="DotNetFrameworkNeeded">.NET Framework 3.5 is required. Please install the .NET Framework then run this installer again.</String> <String Id="MustCloseSuperForm">Must close SuperForm!</String> <String Id="SuperFormNewerVersionInstalled">A newer version of !(loc.ProductName) is already installed.</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialog_Title">!(loc.ProductName) setup</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Title">!(loc.ProductName) Product check</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Description">Plese Enter following information to perform the licence check.</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_FullName">Full Name:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_Organization">Organization:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_ProductKey">Product Key:</String> <String Id="ProductKeyCheckDialogControls_InvalidProductKey">The product key you entered is invalid. Please call user support.</String> </WixLocalization> As you can see from the file we can use localization variables in other variables like we do for SuperFormNewerVersionInstalled string. ProductKeyCheckDialog* strings are to localize a custom dialog for Product key check which we’ll look at in the next post. Built in dialog text localization Under the de-de folder there’s also the WixUI_de-de.wxl file. This files contains German translations of all texts that are in WiX built in dialogs. It can be downloaded from WiX 3.0.5419.0 Source Forge site. Download the wix3-sources.zip and go to \src\ext\UIExtension\wixlib. There you’ll find already translated all WiX texts in 12 Languages. Localizing the custom EULA license Here it gets ugly. We can override the default EULA license easily by overriding WixUILicenseRtf WiX variable like this: <WixVariable Id="WixUILicenseRtf" Value="License.rtf" /> where License.rtf is the name of your custom EULA license file. The downside of this method is that you can only have one license file which means no localization for it. That’s why we need to make a workaround. License is checked on a dialog name LicenseAgreementDialog. What we have to do is overwrite that dialog and insert the functionality for localization. This is a code for LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten.wxs, an overwritten LicenseAgreementDialog that supports localization. LicenseAcceptedOverwritten replaces the LicenseAccepted built in variable. <Wix xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi"> <Fragment> <UI> <Dialog Id="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Width="370" Height="270" Title="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlg_Title)"> <Control Id="LicenseAcceptedOverwrittenCheckBox" Type="CheckBox" X="20" Y="207" Width="330" Height="18" CheckBoxValue="1" Property="LicenseAcceptedOverwritten" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgLicenseAcceptedCheckBox)" /> <Control Id="Back" Type="PushButton" X="180" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Text="!(loc.WixUIBack)" /> <Control Id="Next" Type="PushButton" X="236" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Default="yes" Text="!(loc.WixUINext)"> <Publish Event="SpawnWaitDialog" Value="WaitForCostingDlg">CostingComplete = 1</Publish> <Condition Action="disable"> LicenseAcceptedOverwritten <> "1" </Condition> <Condition Action="enable">LicenseAcceptedOverwritten = "1"</Condition> </Control> <Control Id="Cancel" Type="PushButton" X="304" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Cancel="yes" Text="!(loc.WixUICancel)"> <Publish Event="SpawnDialog" Value="CancelDlg">1</Publish> </Control> <Control Id="BannerBitmap" Type="Bitmap" X="0" Y="0" Width="370" Height="44" TabSkip="no" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgBannerBitmap)" /> <Control Id="LicenseText" Type="ScrollableText" X="20" Y="60" Width="330" Height="140" Sunken="yes" TabSkip="no"> <Text SourceFile="$(var.ProjectDir)\!(loc.LicenseRtf)" /> </Control> <Control Id="Print" Type="PushButton" X="112" Y="243" Width="56" Height="17" Text="!(loc.WixUIPrint)"> <Publish Event="DoAction" Value="WixUIPrintEula">1</Publish> </Control> <Control Id="BannerLine" Type="Line" X="0" Y="44" Width="370" Height="0" /> <Control Id="BottomLine" Type="Line" X="0" Y="234" Width="370" Height="0" /> <Control Id="Description" Type="Text" X="25" Y="23" Width="340" Height="15" Transparent="yes" NoPrefix="yes" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgDescription)" /> <Control Id="Title" Type="Text" X="15" Y="6" Width="200" Height="15" Transparent="yes" NoPrefix="yes" Text="!(loc.LicenseAgreementDlgTitle)" /> </Dialog> </UI> </Fragment></Wix> Look at the Control with Id "LicenseText” and read the comments. We’ve changed the original license text source to "$(var.ProjectDir)\!(loc.LicenseRtf)". var.ProjectDir is the directory of the project file. The !(loc.LicenseRtf) is where the magic happens. Scroll up and take a look at the wxl localization file example. We have the LicenseRtf declared there and it’s been made overridable so developers can change it if they want. The value of the LicenseRtf is the path to our localized EULA relative to the WiX project directory. With little hacking we’ve achieved a fully localizable installer package. The final step is to insert the extended LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten license dialog into the installer GUI chain. This is how it’s done under the <UI> node of course. <UI> <Publish Dialog="WelcomeDlg" Control="Next" Event="NewDialog" Value="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten">1</Publish> <Publish Dialog="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Control="Back" Event="NewDialog" Value="WelcomeDlg">1</Publish> <Publish Dialog="LicenseAgreementDialogOverwritten" Control="Next" Event="NewDialog" Value="ProductKeyCheckDialog">LicenseAcceptedOverwritten = "1" AND NOT OLDER_VERSION_FOUND</Publish> <Publish Dialog="InstallDirDlg" Control="Back" Event="NewDialog" Value="ProductKeyCheckDialog">1</Publish> </UI> For a thing that should be simple for the end developer to do, localization can be a bit advanced for the novice WiXer. • Programmatically Insert Page Break in Active Report

    - by Kevin Babcock
I've been scouring the web for a good example, but cannot figure out how to add a page break to an Active Reports report programmatically. The reports I'm working with usually require 1-2 pages for each record. In order to support dual-sided printing of the reports I want to insert a blank page for each record that uses an odd number of pages, ensuring that each new record is printed on the front of each printed page. I'm very new to Active Reports, so any suggestions, code samples, or links are much appreciated!

  • IEPNGFix: unclickable children of element

    - by Bill Paetzke
Some of my web app users with IE6 are complaining of a javascript error: IEPNGFix: unclickable children of element
I don't have a div on the page with id=header. I searched my code for "IEPNGFix" and could not find anything. Odd thing is--they're saying it started happening today. But I haven't deployed anything in the past two days. What do you think is the solution? Or can you shed any light?

  • iPhone App IDs and Provisioning... Does App ID get used instead of provisioning ID if I decide to us

    - by Jann
This is a question that has been bugging me for a while. I started my app (now submitted -- not yet approved) not wishing to get into the mess that is APNS (Push). I did the following: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-Provisioning: Then I created a Development and a Distribution Provisioning Profile. I installed both in XCode. Everything hunky dory. The Development profile scares me a bit by expiring so soon (90 days) but I can remove it from the iPhone(s) and sign it with a new one later. I tested using the Development profile, and later to submitted it by signing it with the Distribution profile. I then uploaded the Distribution profile-signed app to iTunesConnect (app store). Okay, I understand that much. Now, what I don't understand is this: Now that I understand the theories and methods behind how Push works, I am wishing to add it to my app. I already went under: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-App IDs: and created a Development Provisioning Profile and Distribution Provisioning Profile there (push & in-app purchase enabled). Here is where it gets confusing to me. All the books and docs I have read say that I have to sign the app with this "App ID" provisioning profile (push-enabled) from now on. Does that mean I no longer ever use the previously created provisioning profiles? If I were to import these "App ID" provisioning profiles into Xcode they will exist alongside my previously generated "non-push" profiles. ~/Library/Mobile Devices/Provisioning Profiles now has 2 files. One Devel and one Distrib. It will now have 4 even though for this app I will not use the "non-push" anymore right? (actually, since they are locked by using bundle-codes and app ids i will never use it again if all of my further versions of this app use Push?) Confused. Can anyone enlighten me? Why not use the "App ID" profiles in the first place for everyone -- even if you are not gonna use push? Would keep it simpler. Should I only generate "Push Enabled" profiles from now on -- even if i am not sure I am gonna use push (or for that matter in-app purchase)? Please give me some insight. I do not wanna do this wrong. Thanks! Jann

  • Session Id in url and/or cookie? [closed]

    - by Jacco
Most people advice against rewriting every (internal) url to include the sessionId (both GET and POST). The standard argument against it seems to be: If an attacker gets hold of the sessionId, they can hijack the session. With the sessionId in the url, it easily leaks to the attacker (by referer etc.) But what if you put the sessionId in both an (encrypted) cookie and the url. if the sessionId in either the cookie or the url is missing or if they do not match, decline the request. Let's pretend the website in question is free of xss holes, the cookie encryption is strong enough, etc. etc. Then what is the increased risk of rewriting every url to include the sessionId? UPDATE: @Casper That is a very good point. so up to now there are 2 reasons: bad for search engines / SEO if used in public part of the website can cause trouble when users post an url with a session Id on a forum, send it trough email or bookmark the page apart from the: It increases the security risk, but it is not clear what the increased risk is. some background info: I've a website that offers blog-like service to travellers. I cannot be sure cookies work nor can I require cookies to work. Most computers in internet cafes are old and not (even close to) up-to-date. The user has no control over them and the connection can be very unreliable for some more 'off the beaten path' locations. Binding the session to an IP-address is not possible, some places use load-balancing proxies with multiple IP addresses. (and from China there is The Great Firewall). Upon receiving the first cookie back, I flag cookies as mandatory. However, if the cookie was flagged as mandatory but not there, I ask for their password once more, knowing their session from the url. (Also cookies have a 1 time token in them, but that's not the point of this question). UPDATE 2: The conclusion seems to be that there are no extra *security* issues when you expose you session id trough the URL while also keeping a copy of the session id in an encrypted cookie. Do not hesitate to add additional information about any possible security implications

  • NHibernate, could not load an entity when column exists in the database.

    - by Eitan
This is probably a simple question to answer but I just can't figure it out. I have a "Company" class with a many-to-one to "Address" which has a many to one to a composite id in "City". When I load a "Company" it loads the "Address", but if I call any property of "Address" I get the error: {"could not load an entity: [IDI.Domain.Entities.Address#2213][SQL: SELECT address0_.AddressId as AddressId13_0_, address0_.Street as Street13_0_, address0_.floor as floor13_0_, address0_.room as room13_0_, address0_.postalcode as postalcode13_0_, address0_.CountryCode as CountryC6_13_0_, address0_.CityName as CityName13_0_ FROM Address address0_ WHERE address0_.AddressId=?]"} The inner exception is: {"Invalid column name 'CountryCode'.\r\nInvalid column name 'CityName'."} What I don't understand is that I can run the query in sql server 2005 and it works, furthermore both those columns exist in the address table. Here are my HBMs: <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" assembly="IDI.Domain" namespace="IDI.Domain.Entities" > <class name="IDI.Domain.Entities.Company,IDI.Domain" table="Companies">
<property column="Name" name="Name" not-null="true" type="String"></property> <property column="NameEng" name="NameEng" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="Description" name="Description" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="DescriptionEng" name="DescriptionEng" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <many-to-one name="Address" column="AddressId" not-null="false" cascade="save-update" class="IDI.Domain.Entities.Address,IDI.Domain"></many-to-one> <property column="Telephone" name="Telephone" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="TelephoneTwo" name="TelephoneTwo" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="Fax" name="Fax" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="ContactMan" name="ContactMan" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="ContactManEng" name="ContactManEng" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property column="Email" name="Email" not-null="false" type="String"></property> </class> </hibernate-mapping> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" assembly="IDI.Domain" namespace="IDI.Domain.Entities" > <class name="IDI.Domain.Entities.Address,IDI.Domain" table="Address">
<property name="Street" column="Street" not-null="false" type="String"></property> <property name="Floor" column="floor" not-null="false" type="Int32"></property> <property name="Room" column="room" not-null="false" type="Int32"></property> <property name="PostalCode" column="postalcode" not-null="false" type="string"></property> <many-to-one class="IDI.Domain.Entities.City,IDI.Domain" name="City" update="false" insert="false"> <column name="CountryCode" sql-type="String" ></column> <column name="CityName" sql-type="String"></column> </many-to-one> </class> </hibernate-mapping>  <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" assembly="IDI.Domain" namespace="IDI.Domain.Entities" > <class name="IDI.Domain.Entities.City,IDI.Domain" table="Cities"> <composite-id> <key-many-to-one class="IDI.Domain.Entities.Country,IDI.Domain" name="CountryCode" column="CountryCode"> </key-many-to-one> <key-property name="Name" column="Name" type="string"></key-property> </composite-id> </class> </hibernate-mapping> Here is my code that calls the Company: IList<BursaUser> user; if(String.IsNullOrEmpty(email) && String.IsNullOrEmpty(company)) return null; ICriteria criteria = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof (BursaUser), "user").CreateCriteria("Company", "comp"); if(String.IsNullOrEmpty(email) || String.IsNullOrEmpty(company) ) { user = String.IsNullOrEmpty(email) ? criteria.Add(Expression.Eq("comp.Name", company)).List<BursaUser>() : criteria.Add(Expression.Eq("user.Email", email)).List<BursaUser>(); } And finally here is where i get the error: "user" was already initialized with the code above: if (user.Company.Address.City == null) user.Company.Address.City = new City(); Thanks.

  • append set to another set

    - by mr.bio
    Hi Is there a better way of appending a set to another set than iterating through each element ? i have : set<string> foo ; set<string> bar ; ..... for (set<string>::const_iterator p = foo.begin( );p != foo.end( ); ++p) bar.insert(*p); Is there a more efficient way to do this ?
