  I want to give remote access to my postresql db (8.2) to computers that are at the same lan, at the default config I have added this line to pg_hba.conf where xxx.xx.xx.xx is the ip of the machine that hosts postgresql. This machine is a windows 2k server. # IPv4 local connections: host all all 0.0.0.0/0 password host all all xxx.xx.xx.xx/24 password There no firewall or such blocking the connection between and `listen_addresses = '*' for postgresql.conf .

  I have a LAN and i need to create a LAB with three VLAN on my boxes, Linux and FreeBSD. so i create a VLAN 1 on the linux box as follow: sudo vconfig add eth0 1 sudo ifconfig eth0.1 inet6 add 2001:470:9b36:1:1::2/64 and i do the same on the FreeBSD box: sudo ifconfig vlan1 create sudo ifconfig vlan1 inet6 2001:470:9b36:1:1::1 prefixlen 64 vlan 1 vlandev bge0 But i still not able to ping the VLANs from each side ? NB: the eth0 and bge0 are up and running

• Downloads are consistently corrupt, what are the potential causes?

  I am consistently experiencing corrupt downloads over TCP/IP and Ethernet on a small LAN, the downloads are coming from different sources on the Internet. WAN is comcast cable.. NIC is brand new. My theory is that this is being caused by a bad ethernet cable. What are the possible causes? I am in the process of testing the ethernet theory now.

  Hi In my Linux server i have three network cards. The eth0 card is connected to ISP1, the eth1 card is connected to LAN and the eth3 card is connected to ISP2. What i want to do is to automatically use eth3 as Internet connection if the eth0 connection fails. How can this be done? Another problem is that my firewall is referring to eth0 as the server is doing NAT for clients this would be broken if eth3 is taken in use, how can this be solved?

• Subversion - Checking out thousands of small files is extra slow, where's the bottleneck?

  I'm on a gigabit LAN with a 2-Core 3 Ghz server dedicated to serving up our Repository. What I check out a project with about 30,000 mostly small files, it only streams out at about 1 MB/sec. There's about 140 MB so it kinda takes forever. Surely the bottleneck isn't the hard-drive... it's on an SSD after all. Is it a processing issue? Windows Server 2008

  I use firefox to visit a web server running on a computer on my LAN. I notice that sometimes TCP doesn't acknowledge the packets it receives.   I have a network mapped like this : just to experiment IPv6 connectivity, i want to configure my LAN network using IPv6, can some one explain me how to convert the connection between the Desktop and the Laptop to IPv6 without loosing the internet connection ?   I have an application on an AIX server (v5.3) that needs to print via a Windows Print Server over the LAN. The simplest way to do this is to use SMIT to setup a remote print queue - which I've done on the test environment - but the IT department have refused to set up a remote print queue on the Production server. I don't have root access to the Production server. Is there any other method for connecting the app to the print server that doesn't involve print queues on the AIX box?

  I have set up a home web server using Ubuntu 12.10 and I can safely say that it works with regards to router forwarding and ports being found. I know this, because switched my hosting provider's VPS SOA record to use my ISP IP with an 'A' value and had my website running from home. This verified that my server was configured correctly so I started what I believe to be the final step in making my old desktop into a full DNS server. • IPMSG problem in windows 7 ?

  I have always used IPMSG for chatting across the LAN. It has been working well under Windows XP, but after I installed Windows 7 it has stopped working. When I am connected to the internet I cannot see anyone else on the local network. As soon as I disconnect the internet I can see everyone on the local network perfectly fine. I am using the latest versino of IPMSG. Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge of this problem?

  I have installed sarg for a while on ubuntu 12.04 and forgotten that I wanted it to generate reports inside /var/www/vhosts/reports.lan/htdocs. I have found out this morning and made the change in the /etc/sarg/sarg.conf. After I have manually run sarg with # sarg-reports today but it generated in the old folder /var/lib/sarg . I know I could do a symbolic link but I was surprised that I could not find a single command to reload or at least restart sarg. Can anyone give me the command to restart or reload it? Thanks

  I have just bought a shiny new Canon MG6250 multifunction printer/scanner and connected it via LAN. Installing the printing side of things was a breeze, however, I cannot work out how to set up scanning. I installed the MG6200 series ScanGear MP driver from Canon's site but when I open GIMP or Simple Scan, they say there is no scanner detected. Using GIMP's 'update scanner list' button to search for the scanner does not find it. How do I tell Ubuntu, GIMP or Simple Scan to look on the network for the scanner? Is there another utility especially for this?
