  I need some directions for SQL Server & Cursors: I have a table named Order: OrderID Item Amount 1 A 10 1 B 1 2 A 5 2 C 4 2 D 21 3 B 11 I have a second table named Storage: Item Amount A 40 B 44 C 20 D 1 For every OrderID, I want to check if enough items are available. If not, I want to return an error message. How can this be done with Cursors at all? Are nested cursors the solution to this? My main issue is to understand how I can fetch the OrderID as actual "Group" of ID=1, 2, 3 etc. instead of line by line

The table just has an id, person_id, team_id, and date fields.   Hello, I wonder if anyone knows how could I rename multiple files, all of them originally named with same structure, and add some data extracted from a mysql DB according to specifics rules. For example I have 500 files named with this vars: ID NAME ADDRESS PHONE.wav = 1234567 PAULSIMON WESTDR122 9942213456.wav Now I need to rename files taking some data from the databases for each file, and append the data from a query appended to the filename. For example add the data resulting from a query Where some conditions match, and the data to build the query is taked from original file name, as ID or NAME. i other words, lets say that I want to build a query taking ID & NAME from file 1234567 PAULSIMON WESTDR123 9942213456.wav as WHERE statements to take another value as BirthDATE and add this to new filename, so final result should be: ID NAME ADDRESS PHONE BIRTHDATE.wav I will appreciate any help on this. I need this to be done on a LINUX server.

  Hi, I Have a DataBase in my project With Table named 'ProcessData' and columns named 'Start_At' (Type: DateTime) and 'End_At' (Type: DateTime) . When I try to enter a new record into this table, it enter the data in the following format: 'YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm', when I actualy want it to be in that format: 'YYYY/MM/DD HH:mm:ss' (the secondes dosen't apper). Does anyone know why, and what should I do in order to fix this? • Problems to create webservice jax-ws on WebSphere 8.5

  I'm using Eclipse Juno to create jax-ws webservice on WebSphere® Application Server V8.5 Tools. The WebService sometimes are created but most often he fails to create wsdl. For exemplify, i try to create a simple webservice named Web: import javax.jws.WebMethod; import javax.jws.WebService; @WebService public class Web { @WebMethod public String getName() { return "myName"; } } After deploy this webservice and viewing WebSphere administration page not exists any service named WebService. I tried too access the generated WebSphere wsdl from the url localhost:9080/MyProject/WebService/WebService.wsdl but this not exists. My project have a configured MANIFEST file that contains: Manifest-Version: 1.0 UseWSFEP61ScanPolicy: true I'm actually using servlet 3.0 but tried with 2.3. Anyone can help me to do WebSphere approprieate scan annotations of ws-jax and create wsdl on server?

The "Categories" table have 5 entries, they are: "Car", "Websites", "Technology", "Mobile Phones", and "Interest". So each time I put an entry to the "Pages" table, I need to map it to the "Categories" table so are arranged properly. • Optimizing simple search script in PowerShell

  I need to create a script to search through just below a million files of text, code, etc. to find matches and then output all hits on a particular string pattern to a CSV file. So far I made this; $location = 'C:\Work*' $arr = "foo", "bar" #Where "foo" and "bar" are string patterns I want to search for (separately) for($i=0;$i -lt $arr.length; $i++) { Get-ChildItem $location -recurse | select-string -pattern $($arr[$i]) | select-object Path | Export-Csv "C:\Work\Results\$($arr[$i]).txt" } This returns to me a CSV file named "foo.txt" with a list of all files with the word "foo" in it, and a file named "bar.txt" with a list of all files containing the word "bar". Is there any way anyone can think of to optimize this script to make it work faster? Or ideas on how to make an entirely different, but equivalent script that just works faster? All input appreciated!

• What are the other new features of C# 4.0, after dynamic and optional parameters?

  So, C# 4.0 came out yesterday. It introduced the much-debated dynamic keyword, named and optional parameters. Smaller improvements were the implicit ref and recognizing of indexed and default properties on COM methods, contra- and co-variance (really a .NET CLR feature, not C# only) and... Is that really it? Are dynamic and optional/named params the only real improvements to C#? Or did I miss something? Not that I'm complaining, but it seems a bit meager after C# 2.0 (generics) and C# 3.0 (lambda, LINQ). Maybe the language just reached actual maturity?

• Porting C++-code from Windows to Unix: systemcalls colliding with name of functions

  Hi I'm porting some crufty C++ Windows-code to Linux, which uses functions called "open" and "close" inside every class... Very bad style, or? Luckily that wasn't a problem in windows, since their systemcalls are named different. When I try to call the systemcalls open() or close() I'm getting some compiler error about "no matching function for call for class:open()". I can't rename all our functions named "class::open" and "class::close" in the whole code, and I have to use open() and close() since I'm working with serial ports. So my question is: How can I tell the compiler, which open I mean? How can I escape or hide the namespace of a class in C++?

• How do I change my current directory from a python script?

  I'm trying to implement my own version of the 'cd' command that presents the user with a list of hard-coded directories to choose from, and the user has to enter a number corresponding to an entry in the list. The program, named my_cd.py for now, should then effectively 'cd' the user to the chosen directory. Example of how this should work: /some/directory $ my_cd.py 1) ~ 2) /bin/ 3) /usr Enter menu selection, or q to quit: 2 /bin $ Currently, I'm trying to 'cd' using os.chdir('dir'). However, this doesn't work, probably because my_cd.py is kicked off in its own child process. I tried wrapping the call to my_cd.py in a sourced bash script named my_cd.sh: #! /bin/bash function my_cd() { /path/to/my_cd.py } /some/directory $ . my_cd.sh $ my_cd ... shows list of dirs, but doesn't 'cd' in the interactive shell Any ideas on how I can get this to work?   i have a class named cv,and a class named university, and each user that completes his cv, should choose a University he studyes at. My problem is: one student can study at one or 2 or three universities, or may be a user that is not student. I need to take this data into a form, and i use ModelForm. The data from the Cv class, and from the University class in the same form, and the user can add one or more universities, or no university. (in the same form) How should i do it? Should i use ModelForm? if i have a foreign key in the CV class, and the user is not a student (so he is at zero universities), i may get an referencial integrity error. thanks a lot

How can I get the file "D:\MyProject\bin\MyFile.db" in the SQLite Command Line Shell i.e, how can I locate the file "MyFile.db" in the command shell to get the data from "MyTable".

• Is c++ explicit conversion really that bad?

  My knowledge in c++ at this point is more academic than anything else and in all my reading thus far, the use of explicit conversion with named casts (const_cast, static_cast, reinterpret_cast, dynamic_cast) has come with a big warning label (and it's easy to see why) that pretty much implies explicit conversion is symptomatic of bad design and should only be used as a last resort in desperate circumstances. So i have to ask: Is explicit conversion with named casts really just jury rigging code or is there a more graceful and positive application to this feature? Is there a good example of the latter? Ex: From, http://localhost/login and also from http ://localhost/user_sessions/new. How do i restrict access only from the named route i have defined and not allow from user_sessions/new?

  Hi, I'd like to run a unit test where a constant is slightly different than in the standard version. That is, in my default module, the following is bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("number of players")).to(4); but in testing, I'd like to try this line instead: bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("number of players")).to(2); Id like to achieve that without copying all of the rest of the module. What I really want is a "default" module that is "below" a more specialized module, such that in case of conflict, the specialized module wins (instead of throwing an exception, which is what guice does). In essence, my question is: how does anybody arrange for more than one module without lots of code duplication?

  can someone clarify this for me: When there’s more than one argument, the arguments are declared within the method name after the colons. Arguments break the name apart in the declaration, just as in a message. For example: - (void)setWidth:(float)width height:(float)height; So in the above: method is for instance variables returns void parameter#1 is a float, named width. parameter#2 is a float,named height. But why is it hieght:(float)height; and not just: - (void)setWidth: (float)width (float)height;

  Hi, I am trying to import ctypes, and I am using Python 2.5.5 installed using macports (on Mac OS X 10.6). I get an error saying "ImportError: No module named _ctypes" (see details below). As I understand it ctypes is supposed to come preinstalled for python 2.5. • Shell script variable problem

  Hi all, I'm trying to write a shell script to automate a job for me. But i'm currently stuck. Here's the problem : I have a variable named var1 (a decreasing number from 25 to 0 and another variable named var${var1} and this equals to some string. then when i try to call var${var1} in anywhere in script via echo it fails. I have tried $[var$var1], ${var$var} and many others but everytime it fails and gives the value of var1 or says operand expected error. Thanks for your help

• Problem with url_for in ActionMailer template

  I'm attempting to provide a confirmation link in my user welcome email and I'm getting the following Rails error: Need controller and action! It makes a fuss about this line: <p>Please take a moment to activate your account by going to: <%= link_to confirm_user_url(:id => @user.confirmation_code) %>.</p> In my development.rb environment, I have the following line: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "localhost", :port => 3000 } There's no problem with the @user variable. I've tested the email with things like @user.username and @user.confirmation_code. I'm only getting trouble with url_for and named routes like confirm_user_url. When I check my routes with rake routes, confirm_user shows up, so it's not an issue with the named route not existing. I can't seem to figure it out. What gives?

• Reference table values in a war against magic numbers

  This question bugged me for years now and can't seem to find good solution still. I working in PHP and Java but it sounds like this maybe language-agnostic :) Say we have a standard status reference table that holds status ids for some kind of entity. Further let's assume the table will have just 5 values, and will remain like this for a long time, maybe edited occasionally with addition of a new status. When you fetch a row and need to see what status it is you have 2 options(as I see it at least) - put it straight ID values(magic numbers that is) or use a named constant. Latter seem much cleaner, the question though is where those named constants should leave? In a model class? In a class that uses this particular constant? Somewhere else?
